    @Mrs.KMM: That makes sense!
    @MamaB: Looking good mama!

@Eko: I got tested for Group Strep B yesterday too. I had it last time. When you have it, you get a course or two of antibiotics. I had two 4 hour courses of it throughout my labor before I delivered my LO.

Anyone else starting to feel consistently like crap? Normally I'll have one day of feeling bad then feel better the next day, now it is just all the time. No idea how I am going to get through another 3 weeks of working.

@Eko: yes! I was just talking to my mom about this. Don't know how I'm going to get through these last weeks of work, and I'm on medical telework!

I spent yesterday morning in labor and delivery for leaking. I went in to get my laptop fixed, and we had a fire drill. I had to walk down 11 flights of stairs, and low and behold the next day I'm at the hospital. She said my water was still in tact, so try to at least make it to next week when I'll be early full term. Crazy!

@dc yoga bee: Yikes, that's crazy? So what was it? Pee?? Sometimes I have wondered what is what!

I have definitely been having a lot of BH. I never noticed them with Julia, and they still aren't noticeable this time around (at least from a pain/discomfort standpoint), but I can definitely feel my belly get rock hard... and actually I can see it in the mirror. My belly kind of compresses down so that it sticks straight out during a BH contraction.... much like how it did during actual labor with Julia.

Julia has now slept 4 nights in a row in her big girl bed without issue. I hope it continues!

@78h2o: It was clear, no pee smell whatsoever. The midwife said she doesn't know what it was.... Not very reassuring!

@dc yoga bee: How scary. Glad though that at least everything looks good!

@78h2o: That's awesome that Julia has been sleeping through the night. Good timing with the new LO coming!

@dc yoga bee: Hum – I wonder what it was then. That's so odd.

@Eko: I've been feeling like crap, but really it's from the head cold and bronchitis and not so much the pregnancy. A part of me is just over work at this point though. With the end of my working days in sight, there's a large part of me that is just ready to be done.

  9. Mrs.KMM

    grapefruit / 4355 posts

@78h2o: I'm still not sure if I've had any Braxton Hicks contractions yet. It's so hard to tell sometimes because I don't have any idea what to expect them to feel like!

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@Mrs.KMM: Knowing that I only have 3 weeks left is something I am much looking forward to! When are you stopping work? BH for me feels like my muscles are tightening and getting hard. That is the only way I can describe it. Sometimes they are uncomfortable and others are painful.

@Mrs.KMM: I didn't have any BH with my first pregnancy (well, if I felt at just the right time, I could tell I was having a contraction, but I didn't feel anything), but I've had quite a few with this one. In fact, last Friday I was a bit concerned they weren't just BH, but after a few throughout the night, they were gone in the morning.

With my first, I never noticed BH until a week before I delivered. This time, I've had them since the end of my 5th month! My doctor told me it's normal, especially because I'm so petite, plus I'm more active now taking care of my son. They are ramping up though and getting uncomfortable

@Eko: The current plan is that I work up until I go into labor. So who really knows! We figure that even though I'm not planning to go back, it never hurts to get as many paychecks into our account before my income stops.

@dc yoga bee: That's crazy that they made you walk down the stairs - especially for a drill!! One of the firms I visit is adding me to the "help needed" list so in the event of an emergency, they know I need assistance evacuating

I had to walk down from the 10th floor the other day when the elevators weren't working. I actually tried walking down in the Sumo wrestler stance because I've read that going down stairs like that helps baby get into a good birthing position. LOL! Luckily there was nobody else in the stairwell... I'm sure I looked ridiculous!

I talked to a doula I really liked the other day who charges $560. Still a lot, but better than the first quotes I got of >$1000. I feel that that price is reasonable for our area, esp. considering she had a ton of fantastic reviews on the doulamatch site. However, I still doubt I will be able to get my husband to agree to it... maybe if I go into labor before my parents arrive, he will let me hire her, but I might be calling her to try to hire her when I'm actually in labor!

I am planning to work from home on Monday. Since I only work 3 long days per week, that leaves me with two days next week in the office and three days the following week... then, if I haven't had the baby, I will work 2 more days from home during the last week in May. Then I will be done regardless. So only 5 more days in the office... 5 more days of commuting up to an hour each way. The end is in sight!!!!!

@LindsayInNY: The elevators in my building automatically shut off if the fire alarms are going off. So they won't function. There literally is no option but to go down the stairs.

You guys are scaring me! I really have so very much to do at work this month, and I'm only screwing myself over if it doesn't get done (because then my mother/boss will have to do it all and won't be able to help me with baby since DH has no paternity leave.) But baby and I have come to an understanding that he under no circumstances ought to arrive before June. That still gives him 3 weeks before my due date, but all this talk of being done working is stressful!

  18. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs.KMM: I would think there would be an exception during a drill though!

  19. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Jess1483: Haha, if I'm late, my last day will be July 2 so I have plenty of work days left!

  20. 78h2o

    grapefruit / 4441 posts

@Jess1483: you are due a few weeks later that me though, right?! Hopefully baby will stay put for you!

  21. Mrs.KMM

    grapefruit / 4355 posts

@LindsayInNY: Maybe it has something to do with being at a university (a liability type thing for them), but the firemen actually come out and make sure the entire building is clear during our drills and you get fined if you don't leave the building. And as I said the elevators are non-functioning so the only option is the stairs.

@78h2o: yes, date is the 19th. Consistently measuring a week ahead and P was 5 days early. Still should be safe in the June range, but every once in awhile I panic a bit. We are hiring 8-10 people tonight and I have to train them all before I leave--eek!

@Eko: Yes! Seriously, I just feel like crap all the time now! I can't sleep at night, I get up every 2 hours to pee, my hips hurt from laying on my sides....Then this morning in the shower I felt extremely nauseous, and like started shaking. I feel better now, but I have no idea what happened...

  24. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs.KMM: Maybe. I would think with a drill, you could be notified ahead of time before the elevators shut down. I remember a friend growing up got really bad anxiety and school will take her outside before the drill so she wouldn't panic and think it was real.

  25. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@LindsayInNY: Noooo, that defeats purpose of a drill lol. ETA: I think for the anxiety she would be on a special list of exempt/ needs to be saved and go to our shelter in place hiding. Pregnant women aren't on it hmph. We were not told it was a drill. And the elevators automatically shut off drill or emergency. I also work at a large agency downtown DC, and we have to do active shooter attack drills too. We never know if it's a drill or real deal ever since the Navy Yards shooting

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@MrsBrewer: yikes. The shaking sounds scary! I called it quits for the afternoon and going to go home and take a nap. I've been having a lot more BH than I usually do today so I think my body is just saying it needs rest.

  27. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

Does anyone know how many BHs are normal? Can you have too many?

  28. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@LindsayInNY: I have no idea! I was going to ask my midwife at my appt on Tuesday, because I feel like I get a ton. How do you know when you're supposed to start timing them, or be concerned?? I have no idea! Is it when they become painful??

  29. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@Eko: Yep. Today's my day of crap. I woke up with a lot of gas pains and couldn't bend down. Today was supposed to be my train my colleagues on a database. I pushed it off until Monday or Tuesday. I managed a Target trip yesterday and now feel gross. DH has strep throat too. Good times here.

  30. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@MrsBrewer: @LindsayInNY: No idea on how many is too many. They just told me if they become painful or more frequent in nature to start timing them.

  31. Eko

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@cascademom: that definitely sounds tough. Hopefully you don't catch DHs strep!

@LindsayInNY: I was just thinking the same thing. I've been laying down for a little bit now and feel a lot better and my BH are less. Figured if I get to a point where I have shortness of breath to start timing the contractions.

It's funny that we are almost all on the same page. Glad to commiserate with some lovely ladies.

  32. 78h2o

    grapefruit / 4441 posts

@LindsayInNY: Yes, I think you can have too many. I'd check with your doctor to see what he/she says. I've heard anywhere from 4+ to 8+/hr being a concern if before 36 or 37 weeks. I think my paperwork says >4/hr prior to 36 weeks.

  33. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@Eko: Thanks. I'm hoping not. I still have nose issues from the start of a sinus infection. DH went to immediate care and took care of himself today. With him, that's progress.

  34. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@78h2o: A lot of the time I don't even notice them. They're not painful at all. My OB had a hard time figuring out baby's position on Tuesday because of them and I didn't even realize it/they were going on! She didn't say anything beyond that though?

  35. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@78h2o: This! Now I remember. A midwife told me to call if it was >4 an hour before 36 weeks!

  36. hocuspocus

    apricot / 373 posts

@lindsayinny my dr said if you get more that 5 BH in an hour or they get increasingly more painful to call. I didn't know I was having them until I went in today either. Hard for me to tell the difference between tightening/aching from baby moving and actual BH.

Today was my 37 wk check up starting to think this little one may be a May baby after all. Dr says I'm no Dialated but thinning out...belly has dropped a lot in the last couple days. Soo exciting/scary all at the same time! Hope everyone is feeling/doing well.

Here's my belly today at 37 + 1d. (Sorry for the bare belly/stretch mark shot)

@hocuspocus: You look great!! Stretch marks?!? Um, no. Your skin looks great and healthy! My stretch marks look like bruises and welts!

@dcyogabee @lindsayinny aw thanks ladies! They're def there hard to see in picture though heard sometimes they don't even show up until after you have the baby.

Has Anyone else heard that eating dates daily after 36 wks pregnant supposedly helps speed up pushing phase of labor?

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like crap today! I actually got a decent amount of sleep but I've been feeling super swollen and out of breath for the past hour or so at work. I walked maybe 20 feet to the kitchen to get some water and felt like I had run a marathon. I'm thinking about skipping out of here a little early today.

We have visited two other day cares that I really liked. They were both so much better than our first experience! One has a two year wait list so that's not a possibility for a while but it was still nice to see. The other is on a straight lottery system! They will draw names on June 1st. We are also interviewing a potential nanny on Sunday so I'm feeling so much better to have some options!
