I guess it's time to talk nurseries!! We haven't done a thing besides straighten the room, but I've started planning... Let's see everyone's inspiration and progress as we go along!

We have decided on stars/galaxy theme. We painted our bedroom with cream walls, and a navy accent wall, so we already have leftover paint to replicate those colors in nursery, then we will add stars to the navy wall.

Oh that's adorable @runnerd
No idea for us yet!! We will decide when we find out what we are having!

@Mrs. Champagne: both pregnancies we have been pretty sure of our main theme, then just adjust it based on gender.
This one we would have added more dreamy, cloud stuff for a girl, but for boy will probably add a few minimalist Star Wars details

@runnerd: I love that!
This is our inspiration, not sure if we are going nautical vs animals vs no real theme. We already painted the blue, ordered a crib and put together the dresser.

@MrsKRB: cute!! Sounds like you are on top of it!!
It will be awhile before we can set the furniture up, because the plan is transition F to a toddler bed in a few months to free up the crib

@runnerd: I think we run on the same wave length or something! We're doing a star/space/galaxy theme nursery too! Girl or boy! If it's a girl I'd planned to do add some pink accents to the room.
We're planning most likely a big accent wall with a space theme, glow in the dark starts on the ceiling, and geek elements through out the room.
I saw an adorable Star Wars mobile too! And the cutest galaxy blanket!
Right now the room is empty with white walls, a unsafe closet, and carpet so we have a lot of work to do. We're planning to get started this coming weekend.
Can we share Pinterest boards here?

I'm excited to see what everyone else does! we had big plans when my daughter was born but we literally never finished past painting and redoing the hardwood.... it's basically where we store her clothes and change her diapers... it's called the "diaper room" LOL
I can't wait to set up a shared "big girl room" for them in a couple years though!!

LO is going to be in our closet for a few weeks (don't worry, it is a BIG closet, like so big we have a massive chair in there and watch movies in there.) Then we'll move to the spare bedroom upstairs until the baby is old enough to share with the toddler. The toddler is already on a floor bed (just moved him this week!). Since we just moved into our house we'll be lucky if anything gets painted before LO 2 comes! I'd love to eventually give them an awesome joint Montessori-ish room though. We already have the floor bed and a nice closet set up. Next we need a book rack on the wall and some paint to tie it all together. I made new black out curtains over Christmas that are galaxy-ish and I love the colors in Starry Night so that will likely by my inspiration.

@Mrs. Pink: lol at diaper room. F's room has gotten progressively hodge podge since we moved twice since he was born. I'm excited to do a good themed toddler room for him too!
@brownepiano: I have been searching floor beds like crazy on Pinterest and was really considering that instead of toddler bed for F, but I still want a simple loooow frame, and it seems like most who had one ended up building it and we are not handy like that!
persimmon / 1467 posts
@runnerd: we just put a memory foam mat on the floor. It is the size of a twin bed. We have a captain's style frame for it we'll use once he's a little bigger. I've heard there are some Ikea frames that work well for floor beds.

I have no idea what we will do for a nursery since we are hoping to move asap, but potentially not until after baby arrives. The nursery is our spare bedroom and we have no room to store that furniture? So in love with he meantime I'm going to slowly de clutter and clean it at least. I'm just planning in my head what I want for when it's time to start. Baby will be with us for a few months anyways.
Right now I'm thinking lilac, mint and gold. I'm loving the white Jenny Lind crib.

@runnerd: we literally tell her to "go to the diaper room" when she needs changing haha
that room is really quite small so I think we'll convert it into a guest room down the road and go with the other room as the girl's room- it even has 2 closets!

I still need to add knobs, but the dresser is done! Still a long way to go, haha.

@runnerd: thanks! It's this unfinished dresser from Ikea: http://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/10221421/

You are all so much more creative than me! I am not much of a decorator in regular life and am so not into a theme for the nursery Hope that doesn't make me a bad mom - I'll take the lame mom title though. When we were at BBB last night the person in the furniture department asked what our theme was and I was like ummmm... babies? When we bought our house a friend of a friend was moving and sold us a bedroom set (two twin beds, dresser, mirror, cabinet thingy) that was in their guestroom and used maybe 6 times by grandkids. So I'm going to make the dresser work from that set and then put one of the beds in the room for me to sleep on/nurse on in the middle of the night. We aren't painting the room - it had a fresh coat of light blue when we moved in. When they are older and have opinions we'll let them be part of designing new colors.
I am excited to see what everyone's ideas are since you all are so much more pinteresty than me hehe.

@MrsKRB: nice work! Was it easy to paint?
Here's what I'm thinking for the nursery :

Mine is not going to be cute or inspiring, so I probably won't be posting much, but hey, a new thread for our group!
You all have such cute ideas!

@meadow: My theme is don't repaint the boring white walls, get the furniture I need, and be done with it.
persimmon / 1467 posts
@meadow: With twins I don't blame you! I wanted to have all the Winnie the Pooh character stuffed animals for ds1 and it got out that I had a Winnie the Pooh theme... I wound up with tons of stuff just because it had a character on it that I had to try to get rid of! Ironically we only got one or two themed stuffed animals and DS could care less about them.
I'm much more excited to do something with my son's room now that he's closer to 2. It will last 8-10 years hopefully before he decides he wants something else. I Love seeing other people's nurseries though. Maybe if we'd owned a house before DS 1 we would have done an actual nursery.

@runnerd: Oh my goodness, I LOVE the stars on the wall!!! Love them, love them, love them!!
@MrsKRB: Nice! That colour dresser looks great with the navy!
@catomd00: That is the prettiest colour combination - so dreamy and calming!
I don't know what we're doing for a nursery yet. DD2 (23 months) is still in the nursery but we'll eventually move her to DD1's room as the plan has always been for them to share. The new baby will be in our room for the first several months anyway, so we have some time. The nursery is a very pale shade of the sweetest pink with all white furniture and Peter Rabbit accents. We moved into our house when DD2 was 9 months old so it was easy enough to paint for her specifically, and the Peter Rabbit stuff was all from DD1's nursery. If this baby is a boy, we'll probably paint the room before moving him into it (not that I have any qualms about a boy being in a pink room, and in all reality, that may very well be what happens!) but we'll keep the PR stuff. We're planning on building an extension in the next two to three years and the nursery is going to go during that project, so I don't want to do too much to it, only to enjoy it for a short while...

@catomd00: I love that! Yes, it was really easy to paint, I thought it would take forever!
@meadow: I'm so not creative either, I steal everything from Pinterest your babies are not going to care where they sleep, of course that doesn't make you a bad mom!!

It's started! We bought paint over the weekend and Monday my husband ripped out the carpet and trim. The old curtains need to be taken down and there's a built in the closet we need to pull down. And the carpet boards and nails need to come out. Which my awesome husband is doing today. And he'll hopefully paint some to. One wall is going to be Navy blue and the rest we're painting white. Which we have to redo due to ripping out the trim and the not so amazing job the previous owners did.
You can see the blue a bit cause I had fun writing on the walls when we were testing out the blues.

@Ree723: thanks! I am pinked out from #1 lol. This will be my purple baby! I should probably run it by DH and make sure he's on board lol. I have a feeling he won't care this time around as much!

I feel like I have a lot done already for only 23-ish weeks, haha. Here's our progress...

@MrsKRB: yay for progress!
Navy blue is very popular for us June moms.
Our nursery is making slow progress... but still making some progress atleast!
nectarine / 2951 posts
Wow, you have a lot done! The new nursery is currently an office. I haven't even started!!! Looks great!
I think I've narrowed down the bedding. Think we are going with animals. The walls are already pale blue and we have navy curtains.

@MrsKRB: looking good!!!
DH is suppose to putty the holes in our accent wall so we can paint it this weekend, then painting will be done. We are going to order LO1's toddler bed and such next week, so hopefully we will be able get ready to transition him in maybe April; until then our nursery will be bare!! Lol. I've got more done shopping for his big boy car themed room than the nursery lol. Maybe I'll share some of that once we start since it will be sooner.
coconut / 8483 posts
@runnerd: oh looks awesome!!
I think we are going to go for a bright cloud themed room. DHs grandma painted a picture years ago that we took. It has a nice blue sky and some cherry blossoms. So I think we will pull from that blue and pink and have the picture framed on one wall.
We've done nothing though!!
pear / 1593 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: sounds pretty!! Cherry blossoms are special to me bc we used that as part of our wedding theme
Here's where we got to with nursery!
pear / 1593 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: following this girl's tutorial. just dot dot dot lol with 3 different size items we had around the house (wooden kaboobs, qtips, and small paint brush); we weren't brave enough to try to add the dimension like she did though before starting our stars.
