@LazyLightning: wow, you have a lot going on - maybe more than me and I thought I was pretty bad at the moment! You have two months left. You can do this! I hear you on the bed rest though. I took today off of work for an upper respiratory infection and I don't want to go back tomorrow!

@grizz: Argh! I keep getting told "you're about to pop!" or 'you make me nervous... you should go home, you're about to have that baby!' Honestly even though it's way early i keep hearing myself answer, "ha, i WISH!"

@swedishfish: it seems like every day is this internal struggle not to call in sick. My sick time is my only 'paid' maternity leave so the more i use now, the less i get paid when i'm out. I have to talk myself in to going to work. Like "you don't feel any worse than yesterday, you won't feel any better tomorrow due to having stayed home. this is 'normal' bad. go in."

Hey all, Took the glucose test and got the rhogam shot( in the bum might I add) which was unpleasant to say the least. I had the 50 mg lemon lime glucose drink which tasted like a uncarbonated, flat, super sugary lemon lime treat. I'll find out my results next week. Also, started our childbirth Ed. Classes tonight!! Feels like I'm getting closer!!!! Eek!!!

    pear / 1563 posts

@jh524: ugh that glucose drink. Mine was orange flavored but exactly the same, tasted like flat orange soda. Good luck with your results.

I'll be 32 weeks on Saturday - I can't believe only 8 weeks to go until my due date. Kind of terrifying!

I now have constant throbbing rib pain. It hurts so much! I can't find any position, except standing up, that makes it go away. And my swollen feet don't like me to stand up. 8 more weeks! I CAN DO IT! Maybe I can 'will' the baby out in 5 weeks. haha.

@LazyLightning: I am so sorry - I haven't checked in for a few days and I am just now catching up on everything. I wish there were something I could do, I hate that you are in so much pain. My complaints pale in comparison, but I am starting to notice some of that out of breath feeling and just today I had a BH contraction that actually brought me off the couch a bit. Usually they just feel like butterflies.

One of the things we had to do in our birth class was choose a "reward" for making it to our due date and then 41 and 42 weeks so we couldn't be quite so upset if we don't meet our babies by their due date. Maybe you should reward yourself every week starting now! Just anything that makes you feel good to you have something to look forward to all the time.

P.S. My rewards are a massage, a pedicure, pizza and frozen yogurt. I have been dying for pizza and frozen yogurt and I haven't given in yet!

@jh524: we have our one day childbirth class this Sunday. How is yours going so far? I'm a little anxious that I only have one class.

@LazyLightning: I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time with this. I wish I had some ideas on how to alleviate some of the pain. Have you talked to your doctor's office lately?

    @tlcbaby: I love your rewards! That's a great idea.

I am being over monitored by my OBGYN's office as a gestational diabetic to be safe (even though I didn't fail the test). I am alright with it at the moment but that could change in a minute haha. I meet with the endocrinologist on Monday.

I am so excited that a few things have been purchased from our registry. That is definitely making June seem so close!

    pear / 1664 posts

@tlcbaby: you haven't had pizza or frozen yogurt???? Lol I have eaten more pizza since last fall, than several years combined before that!!

    I like the rewards.

@swedishfish: yeah. It's all normal unless I get a Bp problem and as of yet I have a very low Bp. So that's "good" I guess (I'm just "lucky".)

I had a shower a few weeks ago, was very nice, most people did not buy from the registry but that's ok, not the point right?

  9. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@LazyLightning: did you get a lot of clothes? Everyone loves to buy girl clothes. I know the point isn't to have everything purchased from the registry but I did a lot of research and we chose gear that's got great reviews and gender neutral to use it for future children. I just don't want to end up with twenty knit blankets for one baby!

  10. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@LazyLightning: and at least you'll get a discount in order to purchase what you need from the registry that wasn't purchased for the shower!

  11. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@swedishfish: yep! Lots of clothes, lots of homemade blankets, some books and toys, etc. my mom and I basically divided up the unbought registry stuff after the fact so we are set now!

  12. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@swedishfish: unfortunately it seemed like you don't get the 10% off until the baby is born? Anyway I decided to just go for it as a lot of that stuff was stuff I needed right away...

  13. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@LazyLightning: I think BRU's completion discount comes a few weeks before your due date and Amazon's discount code starts working a month before the due date. I don't think the 10% off at BRU is worth it - I get plenty of 20% off coupons when I shop there.

  14. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@swedishfish: ah - we did target. I think that was 10 days before due date. (Too soon for my comfort!!)

  15. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@LazyLightning: I just haven't had pizza in a long time so I am a little afraid I'll get sick if I eat it, but I am starting to care less and less.

My shower is next weekend and I have been TRYING not to look at the registry, but I sneak a peek every once in a while. Not much has been bought so I am thinking we may get a lot not on the registry, but we have most of the big stuff so we can wait for the completion discount and get the other things we need.

One worry I have is that we will get a ton of diapers because we are planning to cloth diaper and I won't know what to do with them. It might be nice to have a few around, but I am hoping that we don't get boxes and boxes of diapers that we get stuck with.

  16. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@tlcbaby: I purposely registered at a cloth diaper store so it would be on our invitation and maybe people would get the hint but I kind of doubt it I think we will probably get a lot of disposables too! A lot of people have been texting me saying things like "omg I got the CUTEST clothes for your shower!" and asking for the baby's initials so they can get things monogrammed (I refuse to share them! lol) so I don't have much hope people will be using our registry.

I just don't understand. People make registries as a guide of what they actually need. What makes people shop outside of a registry? I will never get it.

  17. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

So how many of you have your nursery ready? Who wants to share pics!!?? Here's my baby boys nursery. I'm loving the bright colors but I think it could be gender neutral as well...

  18. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@jh524: Love it! I love those colors and the wall decals. We painted blue and orange, but I feel like it is gender neutral. Ours isn't quite ready - my husband needs to print and frame the prints he made for the wall and we don't have any bedding yet, but I'll post pics when it is done.

@grizz: I only buy off registries for weddings and baby showers because I know there is a reason they picked those items. But I know a lot of people don't. I couldn't even tell you my baby's initials if you asked - we are hoping we have a moment of clarity when we see the baby!

  19. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@jh524: beautiful nursery! Ours isn't quite ready yet. Our glider should be in by Monday. Then we will hang all of the prints on the walls. Our room is tiny though.

  20. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@grizz: I also only shop off of registries for weddings. I've only been to work baby showers in my adult life. I did not buy from the registry for my cousin's baby but, knowing what I know now, I would've bought from the registry if I could do it again. For the two most recent work baby showers (one still upcoming) I did buy from the registry. I figure that people took the time to research and pick out certain items, there's a reason they want them.

Ugh. Nausea has come back in the past week. I knew it was possible but, but .... Ugh. I'd rather have the sciatica pains I had one day last week than this!

Anyone else? Join my in my whining!

@grizz: I do know what I am having but Im scared to share in case its wrong. We went a bit ago for the 20 week and the tech just said here is the area and this is it and we didnt really get a good look and I have been back a few times now to my Dr but the ultrasound machines was broken once and other time I didnt have time to wait for the tech to be done a I had a work thing to go so we havent had a recheck as I really want to double check. I know its silly and they are probably right and this was what I thought I was having the whole time but Im just scared Ill get committed to the idea and be a little sad if its wrong. In all honesty I would love another boy or a girl to be different but I dont want to have my heart thinking its one and then have it be wrong.

  31. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@Mrs. Chocolate: your experience sounds sort of like mine! When we went in all ready to find out, the lady looked and looked and looked and finally goes "well, this is probably girl..." then later, "yep, I am thinking it may be a girl". That was all the confirmation we got. I'm nervous for our little one to pop out and be like "SURPRISE I'm a boy!" haha. We have a boys name picked out just in case.

@LazyLightning: I had to move furniture around so my cat couldn't jump in the crib! I'd walk in to find kitty cat snuggled in the crib and I was freaking out!!

    @Mrs. Chocolate: Welcome!

@knittylady: I might have spoken too soon about not experiencing nausea. It isn't quite first tri nausea, it is more of a feeling of NOTHING sounding good. I am back to only wanting really cold food and water and really bland tasting foods.

I made this awesome homemade veggie soup yesterday and I tried to choke it down at lunch and only made it through a few bites. If I have 7-8 weeks of this to live through I don't know what I will eat!!

  35. Mrs. Chocolate

    blogger / nectarine / 2600 posts

@LazyLightning: Yes I just want to double check before I shout it everywhere you know. Im even reluctant to share with my friends in real life and dont mention it till they ask then I say. I just wish I could get the confirmation and feel more secure. We are starting with the nursery so I guess in some ways Im committed to the idea I just want to be sure sure with some kind of potty shot you know. I thought it would be easier to know as our son was a surprise but this turns out to be just as if not more stressful I feel

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Sorry for those of you feeling the return of nausea - I feel it occasionally when I go to bed - NOTHING like in the first tri, but I don't like it.

Anyone else suffering from irritability? I just get so cranky these days, especially when I'm tired. Things like no knowing what I want to eat for dinner, and not knowing the date of my baby shower are driving me bananas! It feels so irrational and I feel like I'm being a nuisance to those around me...

Physically I still feel pretty decent though, so there is that

  37. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@Revel: I feel that way sometimes. I think it is just because I am so tired all of the time and don't want to do any of the things I need to do like cooking, school work, etc. I take naps almost every day after work now!

  38. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@Revel: yes to the nausea. Since about week 30 it's been making random appearances, usually in the evenings but sometimes mornings also. Yuck. I had enough of that!!

I'm in a lot of physical pain and I think that makes me a cross between irritable and 'hopeless' feeling. Between my swelling/foot & ankle soreness, my back and ribs bothering me, shortness of breath/unable to breathe well, awkward big body that can't bend very easily, headaches, and really bad knee pain, I'm no picnic. REALLY glad I asked my friends to do my shower early, at 29 weeks. I felt a lot better then than I do now, that's for sure. I've also gained enough weight from either fat or swelling (a little/lot of each) that I think I look really terrible in the mirror. (My face and neck especially. But my arms are really doughy and my thighs look super-wide.) It's depressing!!

  39. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

Anyone have a 'feeling' about when their baby will come? Early? On time? Late? I feel like she'll be early. Maybe by a week. Not counting on it, but it's my 'feeling.' Then again, I also was sure she was a boy and she's not according to the U/S!

  40. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@tlcbaby: Sorry to hear you're feeling cranky too - I definitely think it is correlated to sleep.

@LazyLightning: Sorry to hear about the physical pain I know I've been lucky in that physically I feel OK. I know we're in the home stretch but when you're uncomfortable it can fee like forever! My worst symptom is the not sleeping and this irritability, although my mood is a little improved today from last week.

My shower won't be for another two weeks and I'm definitely feeling depressed about my appearance. I just feel huge. Swelling hasn't really started but I just feel so thick in the middle, and the thought of having to see all my friends and family and take pics when I'm two weeks bigger just sounds so unpleasant.

I don't have a good sense of when baby will come. My family thinks a little late (our babies usually are, and this is my first). I'm feeling the time crunch so I'm wondering if that's some intuition that she'll be early?
