@Espion: the most recent list on the middle of page 22 I believe!
@softcream: I am totally cheating on my GD diet for cake at my shower. I hope baby doesn't end up being too big. I'm having a growth ultrasound on the 13th but the doctor didn't seem concerned today. Cake it is!

My dog has been super clingy last night and today. I wonder if it's because he knows there's a baby coming soon or if he wanted to scam more treats from me?

This morning I'm hoping I don't have cholestasis. I've been itchy a few days, getting worse. A friend told me to take benedryl and see if it helps, because if it's cholestasis it wouldn't help. I took it an hour ago, still waiting for relief. Anyway, have a Dr. appt monday so I'll be bringing it up.
Not a very common thing to get, but it's much more common if you have a relative who had it I guess. I had not known until today, but my mom possibly had it (I mentioned the symptoms to her and she said she had that also though did not know what it was called). Annnnyway. That's what's up with me.
Oh and due to all my swelling & pain my Dr. wrote me a recommend to work from home, but it was denied by my company. Big bummer there. Just have to keep on keeping on!

@swedishfish: If it's my dog, then it is a treat scam, for certain! My two year-old niece and 7 month-old nephew left a few hours ago and now the dog is sleeping on the couch like he hasn't slept in a week, lol.
@LazyLightning: That sucks about work. Here's hoping that these last few weeks go as smoothly as possible. (For everyone!)

@LazyLightning: I hear you on the work thing... The same thing happened to me. I am so very annoyed!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@LazyLightning: oh gosh, I hope you're feeling better today! I'm sorry about the work from home denial. That's terrible.
Woke up to baby kicking AND punching me at the same time this morning. That was an interesting feeling.

@grizz: Ugh, really? I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one. It felt so insulting to me. I understand the reasoning, I guess, but I did hope for a little more understanding from what otherwise has seemed like a pretty family-friendly place to work. Oh well. I mean I was offered to go on FMLA early, but that means I can't finish the work I'd planned to, plus I lose time off my maternity leave. So, boo.
@swedishfish: haha, your baby's dancing!
I had yet another bad night last night. Just sick, sick, sick. I've read that all this sickness can be labor coming on, but I don't think so, for me. Too early and no other signs. Plus it's been going on like 2 weeks now. Could be hormonal, could be reflux, could be my squashed stomach, could be this 'cholestasis' if I have that (I hope not, but one of the symptoms does say nausea). Either way oooooh, I hate it!

@LazyLightning: @grizz: sorry to hear about work for both of you. That seems unreasonable.
LazyLightning, also sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly. My midwife said all the braxton hicks and digestive stuff I have going on is normal dropping progesterone for this time in pg, but didn't give me any indication that it meant labor was near. I feel like I still need a few weeks though to get mentally prepared.
@swedishfish: Such a funny thing to wake up to! My girl has been active lately but is running out of room so mostly just feels like she's pushing pushing pushing

@LazyLightning: Ugh, so sorry. Hopefully you'll get some answers at the doctor tomorrow. Maybe your doctor can write a more forceful work note? Maybe half days or something.
I am starting my maternity leave on 5/22 so I can just relax and do some deep cleaning on the house...as long as baby doesn't decide to come early.
My only real issue is still just my carpal tunnel. Every time I wake up I can't feel my hands and they are actually painful and tingly. It is hard to explain, but I usually get up to go to the bathroom just to give my hands a few minutes to come back to life. Now they feel tingly all day long, too. I can put up with it as long as I feel pretty certain it will go away after I have the baby. Fingers crossed!

@swedishfish: That is funny! I love it when I can feel the hands and the feet at the same time. Either the hands or the head feel like they are hitting the left side of my pelvis, which is a weird sensation. My bump is almost always lopsided depending on where his/her back is. Its so funny to look at.
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@tlcbaby: I hear you on the lopsided belly! It's really nice knowing I can rub his back, but man does it look nuts!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@tlcbaby: @knittylady: Lop-sided bellies!...so timely because I spent most of the morning researching baby positioning. Apparently "lounging" back in chairs, putting your feet up, and knees higher than hips are bad for baby positioning. (Which is, basically, everything I've been doing for the last few weeks!)
I think my little Flipper is back out, but I definitely want to discourage this LO from turning sunny-side up.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Espion: Ooh thanks for saying that, I probably do it without really thinking about it. I went swimming today, which I heard is supposed to be good for helping them get/stay in a good position.
pear / 1563 posts
@tlcbaby: @knittylady: @Espion: I'm also lopsided! She's been in an ideal position for labor for about 6 weeks at every appointment so I'm not complaining, but it is very funny to look at.
My childbirth class teacher and chiro said the same thing about positioning, that basically sitting in a position like you would sit on a large yoga ball, or at the edge of a chair (butt back, hips slightly above knees) is the most ideal position to be in these last few weeks for baby to engage properly, but man, that is not a relaxing posture!
pear / 1664 posts
I too have a lopsided belly most of the time!
@Espion: that is so funny about the lounging. My doc told me with my swelling, I should have my feet up above heart level as much as possible (like put pillows on the foot rest of the recliner, even. And then, I'm ALSO supposed to stay inclined (rather than lying down flat) to avoid reflux.
@Revel: i agree that's the worst position! I bought a fitness ball for this purpose but I can't sit on it for more than a few minutes without my back hurting, then ribs, then getting nauseous. There is just no right way to be, it seems.
pear / 1664 posts
@tlcbaby: I'm starting my leave May 20. My doc could write me out sooner but it would be leave, not working. Which I'd be fine with except that they won't give me more than 12 weeks and I really want the majority of that time to be with the baby, not just sitting around my house, ya know?

My shower was today. Wow, I am overwhelmed with everyone's generosity! We have put away so much stuff and still have a ton to do. Let the washing begin!

@swedishfish: yea!!! Glad your shower went well!
I've been feeling so much pressure( down there) that I'm thinking baby is in position....I also feel my stomach and its so hard!!!! This baby feels huge.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@LazyLightning: Yeah, at first I thought I would just work until the baby got here, but I am glad to at least have a week or so off before the baby gets here.
@swedishfish: I hope your shower was fun - I recently washed everything too so we would be ready!

@LazyLightning: @Revel: The work thing could turn into a positive, since my boss's boss struck up a conversation with me about her fears that I won't come back after maternity leave, and what she could do to support me. Crossing fingers.

The nesting bug bit me HARD over the weekend. I typed out my to-do list, my to-buy list, and my packing list for my hospital bags on Friday and knocked the majority of them out on Saturday. We had our third and last shower today and it was so much fun! Everybody got us super useful stuff off our registry too, so I'm starting to feel like we might actually be prepared for baby to get here.
We also hired a doula so we finalized our birth plan with her and our Bradley Method instructor on Friday and all I have to do is have my doctor sign it on Wednesday. This is craziness!

@grizz: wow! Good job! I'm so behind.... I need to start getting things ready!!!!!

@tlcbaby: @LazyLightning: Your time off before baby sounds heavenly! I'm planning to work until the bitter end, but I'm not too thrilled about it right now...
@swedishfish: Glad you had a great shower! I felt very overwhelmed after mine last weekend but once I started washing and putting things away I felt so much better.
@jh524: How exciting, maybe baby is getting ready! My baby still feels really high - breathing is still tough.
@grizz: Glad there may be a silver lining to the work situation. I think nesting may have kicked in a little bit for me... we bought most of the baby stuff that wasn't gifted and the things I think I want for myself for the hospital/pp, so just having that stuff in the house makes me feel much more relaxed.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@grizz: I've been feeling the same way! I'm all packed for the hospital and cleaning everything in sight. I even cleaned the shower rod in our bathroom!
I made a mobile for the nursery yesterday and I finished sewing my carseat cover tonight. Just don't look too closely at the stitching and it looks pretty darn good.
papaya / 10473 posts
@tlcbaby: I saw your mobile thread and it turned out SO cute! I hear you on not looking too close at stitches... I have some fabric I want to make a crib skirt out of and I'm scared to pull the trigger

So im sure you are like me and day dreaming about when baby will arrive in relation to your due date... the exciting part is its gonna start to happen here soon for all of us!!! Yippee!!!!

@jh524: Than ks for starting that thread, I have been following! Right now I feel like I want to go on or right after my due date (June 1), but everyone says my tune will change a bit closer, and by 38 weeks I'll be dying to have this baby!

@jh524: That thread gave me hope that my baby won't be two weeks late All anybody ever tells me is that first babies go sooooo long overdue, and that thread says otherwise!

Those of you who are still working, how are you coping? I'm exhausted, my hands and feet are so swollen they hurt, and I just can't focus since my brain is in nesting mode. My attention is all on my to-do list of things at home.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@grizz: haha if you want to know how I am coping the fact that I am on hellobee while I am at work should be a clue. I am tired, exhausted, my back hurts and I can't focus on work AT ALL! I mostly sit at my desk doing non work related things all day. Like look up tutorials for making baby hats out of old tshirts.
pear / 1632 posts
@tlcbaby: you little pregnant rebel!!!! Lol. I've totally googled baby names at work multiple times....
@Revel: your so close!!! I'm getting excited for everyone on here!!! It's almost time for the babies to arrive!!!!
@grizz: I know!! I've heard and read that a lot!! I think it's hereditary more than anything. When it comes to nesting...I just washed all my baby clothes, blankets, etc.. And it made me feel so good. Check! Done!! Now on to something else....

I'm at work right now on my lunch period. All these students make it difficult to concentrate on anything baby-related I'm trying to finish up end of the year work because this is when I have the most to do! It's crazy. I just want to relax and enjoy the less than six weeks I have left pre-baby in my life!
pear / 1563 posts
@grizz: @tlcbaby: @swedishfish: I'm managing at work but similarly distracted. Mercifully I'm not super uncomfortable at this point, but my feet are swelling up at night now, and most of my maternity pants don't fit anymore so it's kind of torture when I wear them. I refuse to buy anything new at this late date though.
I'm very torn right now about going out on May 31, the day before my due date, or working through some of the next week if there are no signs of labor. What are those of you who are not taking planned time before you due date planning on doing about the last days of work?
papaya / 10473 posts
@Revel: I'm working til this baby comes I'm so afraid of being late and missing even a week or two with him that I'm just going to keep plugging along til I'm in labor.
nectarine / 2750 posts
I should add a caveat that I am not planning on returning to my current job after baby comes so I am not as concerned about how early I start my leave. I am going to look into part time work until I finish school in a couple of years.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Revel: Central Office told me I can work up until I go into labor. I guess I just put in for sick days once I go into labor unless the doctors' office tells me I have to stop work sooner.
pear / 1563 posts
@grizz: @swedishfish: I think I'm going to work up until I go into labor - even though I'm starting to have that thought of what if my water breaks at work! I know it's not likely that labor will start that way but, this is where my mind goes these days....
@tlcbaby: I didn't realize you were in school. I would absolutely have taken a few weeks off before baby if it didn't effect my leave time after baby. Your plan sounds great!
pear / 1632 posts
@swedishfish: I can't imagine teaching full time right now! So a big high five to you because you totally deserve it. I know what it must be like...with your students and end of year stuff and being pregnant ...wow. Im actually really grateful for my job right now because it allows me to pretty much work part time and take a day off if i want to. Are you planning on taking maternity leave come fall? I have a friend who's gonna go as long as she can so she'll have all summer off w the baby, then start her leave when school starts. Are you planning on returning full time after leave is up?
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@jh524: I'm planning on going back in September mainly because I don't want to use up my banked sick time if I can help it. Since we have to pay for embryo storage we will be trying for a second baby sooner than we originally planned and who knows when I'll be due then. I may end up giving birth in the middle of a school year and I'll need my days.
