@swedishfish: Oh no! I'm sorry you're so sick. At least with a bug you have reassurance that you won't be sick the rest of your pregnancy! It should be on its way out. I hope you feel better!

@swedishfish: So sorry Will you get to go home to sleep? I hope so, I am sure it would be much more comfortable! Hope it passes quickly.

Still at the hospital. I just had another cervical check and haven't progressed so that's good. They were concerned because I've been contracting since I got here. Hopefully I'll be able to leave soon!

@swedishfish: So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well and had to end up at the hospital, but it sounds like it might be good that they are monitoring you in any case if you are having contractions! Really hope you get to go home to get a good nights sleep though. Good luck!!

@swedishfish: Triple booo! I hope you are feeling much better. Probably so much better to go in and get checked out than suffer needlessly!

@GreenThumb: @Espion: thanks! I was at the hospital for five hours last night. They gave me fluids and Zofran and put me on a BRAT diet for a couple of days since I couldn't even keep water down. I'm still contracting but it's definitely gone down. Labor and Delivery Triage is boring when you're there for such a long time. Bring something to do!

@swedishfish: Hope you're feeling better at home this morning! Could you tell you were contracting?

DH has officially decided that Flipper can now get the show on the road, heh. He spent the entire three day weekend working on his old truck and praying the LO wouldn't make an early debut. I call that competing interests, heh! (Long story, but he has to get it running before we move and he was feeling the pressure).

I wish it was up to us to decide! (Who knows how short pregnancy would be if it was really up to us??)

@swedishfish: Sorry to hear you were in the hospital! I hope you are feeling a little better today.

@Espion: It's a funny thing to think about - if we could "pick" the end. I've felt really good and it's only the last week or two that I want to evict this child, so I think I would have made it a long time! Plus, I didn't feel like I had everything ready.

I still feel decent and very far from labor. Starting to feel like I'm going to go overdue for sure.

@swedishfish: Glad you are home!! Keep feeling better.

I still feel pretty good, too and don't feel like I've had any major signs that labor is impending. My groin/pelvic muscles (somewhere in that area) are super sore from this Memorial Day 5k walk that I did yesterday. I wish it has been just a bit shorter.

Now that I am not working, I am trying to give myself one big task around the house each day. Today I cleaned the car inside and out and I plan to do the other tomorrow.

Going back to the chiropractor today, too, which I am really looking forward to because I felt so much better last time.

@Espion: I'm not sure what I would choose if we could pick the end. On one hand, I'm totally exhausted and done, and on the other I'm terrified to be responsible for a newborn human being

@Revel: I'm totally having the overdue feelings too. I really want to start my maternity leave on Friday, but I'm convinced it will jinx me into going to 42 weeks.

@tlcbaby: My husband teases me that I love my chiropractor more than him these days! Its the only real relief I get. What pains does it relieve for you? I'm thinking of booking a last minute visit this week to see if I can open up whatever blocked nerves that are making my hands/feet numb and stinging.

  11. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@grizz: I was having really bad piriformis/sciatic pain and it would go all the way down my leg. Also the front of my hips were really tight. He did a lot of soft tissue work and now I do foam rolling and stretches at home and I am feeling so much better than last week.

If I were you I would definitely get back in there while you still can!

  12. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@Revel: @tlcbaby: I feel the same: no signs of labor, every sign that this kid is picketing to stay forever. I'm not technically working right now (using a job transition as built in "maternity leave"), but I wish I was just to keep me occupied. My attention span and fatigue won't let me pack all day...and I'm starting to run out of things to pack!

@grizz: At this point I'm pretty sure I would pick for this kid to come naturally at any point between now and my due date. I love his portability and sleeping in, but I'm starting to flip myself out that I'll have to be induced on the 10th.

  13. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@grizz: I'm tentative to start my leave after Friday too! Really waffling about what to do. I may be able to work out a work from home deal for next week, which would be awesome if I go overdue. I should know today or tomorrow.

@Espion: I have mixed feelings about still working. It's tough to concentrate but I think it's good to have some normalcy in these last few (hopefully) days. The induction date would definitely be on my mind! You are still WAY out from the 10th though, so plenty of time for baby to pick his (?) own arrival date. My practice said they would induce if I wanted at 41 weeks (so around June 8) or let me go to 42w with some additional tests (ultrasound and stress tests I believe), assuming everything looked OK with baby. At this point I think I would try to wait it out.

  14. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@Revel: I am rather glad I've still got a solid 12 days to work with, but 12 days seems like tomorrow. My OB normally won't even bring up the subject of induction until 41 weeks, but the day I hit 41 weeks is the day DH leaves for San Diego for two weeks. In the grand scheme of things, it will all work out how it works out!

I hope you are able to work from home. The flexibility has been a life-saver.

All this chiropractor talk makes me want to try it!

I am exhausted. Already took one nap today and am gearing up for another one. It is a good thing that I already had off from work today.

  17. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@swedishfish: No surprise after the day you had yesterday! Glad you are getting to rest.

@Espion: I'm cleared to work from home next week, if I make it that far!

So having some relatively persistent low back pain along with on and off cramps today - could something be happening? At this point I feel so hyper tuned in to everything that I feel like I'll be in total denial when labor finally does get started...

  18. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Revel: ooohhhh, maybe early labor is starting for you! My fingers are crossed!

I am jealous of everyone who gets to work from home. Think the school would bus my kids to my house? Haha

  19. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@Revel: Hmm maybe things are moving along. Keep us updated!

@swedishfish: How many more days of school do you have? You should totally go to the chiropractor. I have had other issues over the years that I've gone in for and I think it's awesome. I am going to be in enough pain when I am in labor, I am at least glad I won't be hobbling around, too.

  20. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@swedishfish: Wow, school is still in?? I hope you don't have too much longer!

@Revel: I think the same thing! (**twinge** This is it!! No, no, not it...times infinity.) I hope that this is the start of the real deal for you, though!

  21. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@tlcbaby: @Espion: School ends on June 21 and I'm due on the 17th. I was going to work until I went into labor but I'm considering talking to the doctor's office on Thursday to see if I can end a bit early.

@swedishfish: I'm applauding you for going as long as you have!! (Really, i am) And that goes for all of you that are still working and being so close to your due dates. I can't even imagine. Luckily, I'm a substitute teacher and have been able to stop working . I stopped this week but may do 1 or 2 here and there if I feel good. But I've been so exhausted lately, I literally have slept the last two days away. I'm starting to feel better today. I think at your point in pregnancy, stop working if you can!! Rest, rest, rest!!!!!

  23. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@swedishfish: @tlcbaby: @Espion: whomp whomp - of course nothing is happening now! I think my symptoms are a result of sitting at my desk and obsessing...

swedishfish, I hope you can make it to the end or finish up early, whichever works best for your leave.

@jh524: Sounds like you almost have a perfect schedule for late pregnancy!

  24. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@swedishfish: Yeow, that seems like so far to go! You guys must restart after Labor Day. I've been lucky with a relatively unheard of flexible schedule, thank goodness.

@Revel: Some women were talking on another forum about how many of them had no symptoms or prodromal labor before the big ka-blammo! definitely in labor. So I still hold on to the hope/knowledge that I'll check my phone in the morning and one of you will be headed to the hospital, prior symptoms or no.

  25. knittylady

    pomegranate / 3212 posts

@Espion: I've been thinking of that too! One of us should start a poll here asking how many had that kind of sudden labor... I want everyone to validate everything!!! Haha

  26. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@swedishfish: Oh wow, you all must be on a different schedule than the schools around here. Do you do shorter summer break and longer fall and spring breaks?

@Revel: I think we are all going to have a lot of that in the coming days and weeks.

@Espion: I know you are right. It is weird thinking that you could just be going about your day and all of a sudden you are in labor. It seems to happen a lot at night when people are sleeping. I wonder why?

  27. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@jh524: I slept today away! It felt so good!

@Espion: yes, we start after Labor Day.

@tlcbaby: NY schools tend to be in session from just after Labor Day to the end of June.

  28. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@Revel: @Espion: I convince myself I'm in labor for about 3-5 minutes at some point each day. Its getting old.

@swedishfish: You are a trooper! Hopefully they let you go on leave early!

I will be so sad if I go overdue mostly because I simply cannot handle the thought of being at work next week. I am so mentally checked out its not even funny.

  29. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@swedishfish: Makes sense. It wasn't until I moved to Texas in 2nd grade that we got out of school in May and restarted in the middle of August. When we lived in Syracuse and Bangor, we started after Labor Day.

@tlcbaby: I think it must be because it is the only time we're truly relaxed!

@knittylady: Ha, definitely! It's seriously torture, either way.

Is it possible to drop twice? I woke up this morning and my belly is a completely different shape. I already dropped a couple of weeks ago, and it just made my belly much lower. Now it's lower still, and way thinner on the sides. So very strange!

  31. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@grizz: Oh that is strange - I haven't heard that, but I have just come to expect anything at this point! Maybe baby is getting into position.

  32. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@Espion: @knittylady: Totally interested in the sudden start to labor stories!

@grizz: @tlcbaby: I've not heard of that happening to the belly either. My MW said baby is very low, but I still feel and look like she's high. From what you describe it would sound like babygrizz is getting into position though, how exciting!

  33. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@grizz: I haven't heard that either, but it seems totally possible!

@Revel: Same here. I can tell that Flipper's butt is much lower, but it doesn't seem like my belly is visibly lower.

Hmmm, haven't heard from @maybebaby: in awhile. Hopefully good news!!

  34. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@knittylady: Totally (sort of) off topic, but because your handle is "knitty"...did you knit anything for your LO? I'm a novice and I've recently discovered the importance of gauge. Now I have a nearly finished sweater missing an entire sleeve because I ran out of yarn!

  35. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@tlcbaby: @Revel: The thing that makes it even weirder is that a ton of my discomfort has been alleviated. I have way less pressure on my upper torso, but I also have way less pelvic pressure so it doesn't even make sense. I can actually walk like a normal person today! You'd think if he dropped lower I'd be having more trouble.

  36. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@grizz: maybe this means that baby is making his final descent! So exciting that we will all have babies soon!

  37. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@Espion: Maybe you can start a new one-sleeved sweater trend!
And I was thinking the same about @maybebaby...

@grizz: That is strange - when is your next appt? Maybe they can feel around and tell you where baby is.

I have an appt. tomorrow morning, but I am not expecting anything exciting.

  38. knittylady

    pomegranate / 3212 posts

@Espion: I'm a big knitter! And yeah, with things like clothes gauge is REALLY important as you now know! I haven't knit anything for LO yet but just started browsing patterns on ravelry.com a few days ago. If you're into knitting I would really recommend it. You can search by amount of yarn you have, age (newborn, baby, toddler), anything!

Oooo can't wait to hear from @maybebaby....

  39. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@grizz: I wonder if baby is facing your back? That would explain the "skinny" look of your belly and maybe would relieve pelvic pressure.

Now you've all got me wondering about maybebaby...

@tlcbaby: Good luck tomorrow at your appointment. My next one is Friday and I'm similarly not expecting much news. They've just been very matter of fact - could be any day now, could be another two weeks, hahaha!

  40. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@Revel: Yeah it just seems like standard procedure now. Weight, blood pressure, measure the belly, listen for the heartbeat, answer any questions and go home and wait!
