@tlcbaby: Heh, it could be a thing! I told DH that I'll just buy him a minature sequined glove for that side.
@Revel: @tlcbaby: My appointment is Friday as well. I may crack and ask them to check me.
@knittylady: I love Ravelry! I'm working on this one:

(All sweaters because, I have never attempted socks and because I hear Alaska is chilly in the winter!)
(ETA: going to re-size the picture)

@Revel: That would make sense, and that would also be awesome. Back labor caused by a sunny side up baby would be really uncool!
Now I'm super curious about @maybebaby too!
@Espion: That is hilarious! You could start a trend. But its so cute!

Hi ladies, I have been MIA because absolutely nothing exciting has been going on!
I had a midwife apt today at 40w5d and she did a membrane sweep. I was pretty pleased with how well I coped--I was anxious about it, but it really wasn't that bad! We've been going on walks, having sexy time, bouncing on the ball--nothing that feels promising is going on though. She did say cervix is nice and soft and baby's head is super low. Still holding out for a May baby so praying I go into labor today or tomorrow and have him by Friday. But if he needs to wait to June for some reason, I will try to be patient and will obviously be overjoyed either way I have an acupuncture apt this afternoon--maybe the sweep combined with that and some loving on the husband will do the trick tonight?
Hope everyone is feeling well and sending happy, healthy baby vibes as so many of your due dates are quickly approaching!

@Espion: Very nice! what brand yarn did you use? Can you order some more? If not ravelry has stash swapping I believe!

@Espion: Love the sweater!
@maybebaby: Glad to hear the sweep wasn't too painful, and hopefully it gets things going for you.

@maybebaby: Total TMI, but we tried the sexy time and (for real) right after DH was like, "Okay, baby time?!" Uhhh, I wish! lol! I know so many ladies who have had a ton of success with acupuncture. I'm sure you'll have this babe in your arms soon!
@knittylady: It was Cascade. At least it's fairly ubiquitous at the shops around here. The hard part is hauling my butt out the door to go get some! I had no idea about the stash swapping...I only need the ivory color. I'll definitely look into that!

@Espion: LOL if only!! Sadly sexy time isn't so sexy for us these days, it is so hard to maneuver this belly of mine!!

@Espion: That sweater is going to be so cute!
@maybebaby: Boo, I was hoping no news was good news but it can't be much longer now.
@Espion: Ha if only it were that easy!

OK in desperation I pulled out one more stop...I hooked up the electric breast pump. Yikes that thing is intense!!! Hahaha. (TMI?...)

@Espion: that sweater is beautiful! I'm impressed! Just stuff baby's arm into a jacket?

@swedishfish: Bought one at the grocery store today!! Will be having it for dessert

@maybebaby: Doing the same when I get home! The L&D nurses at work think that with the symptoms I have today I might just need a little push to have a baby this weekend!

Doctor's appointment and BPP tomorrow morning. I am definitely going to ask for a note to leave work a little sooner than originally anticipated. I now have either a head cold or allergies. I just took some 24 hour Claritin to see if it's allergies or not.

@maybebaby: Oh gosh! I am intimidated by my pump. I just shoved it into a closet until I decide to learn how to use it.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@maybebaby: @tlcbaby: what kind of pump did you get? Insurance won't let me get one until the baby is born but I have a few choices.

I started a thread a little earlier, but thought I'd update here. Pretty sure I just had my (TMI) bloody show and/or lost my mucus plug. I wish I could find some definitive info somewhere on when labor usually starts after you have it!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: I was allowed to get it 30 days prior to my due date. I ordered a Medela Pump In Style Advanced, but unbeknownst to me they sent a Medela Advanced Personal Double Pump because the other was on backorder.
This one doesn't have a battery backup is the main difference. No biggie because I am planning to only work part time, but I wasn't too thrilled that they didn't even notify me.

@tlcbaby: ah, good to know. The Medela Advanced Personal Double Pump is one of my options. I have to call my insurance company again to make sure nothing has changed.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: It looks fine to me. I just liked that the other came in a backpack and had the battery backup. I guess I'll be running out for a hand pump if the power goes out!

@maybebaby: Ha! How funny, I got my pump in the mail today. I'm with @tlcbaby: completely intimidated!
@grizz: You have to be so close as well!
Any day now we're going to be up to our ears in babies!
@swedishfish: I got the Ameda Purely Yours because my insurance would not cover the Medela pumps. I hear good things about both. Some people like the Ameda because it is a closed system. (Apparently an occasional problem with mold in the Medela tubes because of condensation...but someone on here said the tubes can be easily replaced and aquarium tubing is apparently a perfect fit and cheaper to boot!) If I had a choice, I probably would have gone with the Medela for no other reason than that's what most people seem to have.
Thank you ladies about the sweater! I'm a little ashamed at how long it has sat unfinished!

@Espion: My intimidation by my pump is completely outweighed by my desire to go into labor and have this baby haha! I guess that's one way to conquer it. I'm busting that bad boy out the second I get home!

So I really am trying to not be a lazy bum while I'm on maternity leave, but I have been on the couch all afternoon. I did wash the car inside and out this morning and went to an aqua fitness class, but I have been so lazy since then. I've been giving myself at least one big task per day like car washing, gardening, etc.
Sadly, I've been watching old episodes of Dance Moms which I just recently discovered.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tlcbaby: you are most certainly allowed to be a lazy bum before the baby comes! Besides it sounds like you are most certainly NOT being a lazy bum what with the car washing and the fitness class.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: Well now I've been on the couch for about 5 hours! Then when DH gets home I barrage him with conversation because I've been alone all day.
pear / 1563 posts
@grizz: Replied to your other thread but I am so excited if this is it for you!
ETA - FWIW, I remember reading that losing your plug doesn't necessarily predict labor, but true bloody show means labor should start on a matter of hours to a day or so.
@tlcbaby: I have total pump intimidation also! Also, enjoy your relaxation! Washing the car days before your due date sounds like a real accomplishment
@swedishfish: @Espion: Like some others, I was able to order mine 30 days before my due date. I got the Ameda, based on positive reviews and the closed system - I wasn't so concerned with mold as the idea of washing tubing sounds like a PIA. I do also have a hand-me-down Medela PIS (I think - it's the one that's built into a tote bag?) so I plan on trying both and keeping the one that works best at work and the other at home.

@tlcbaby: nothing wrong with that! Everyone deserves a break!
We have our baptism class tonight. I am so sick I don't want to go but I don't want to lose our christening date either.

@tlcbaby: I secretly love Dance Moms. And Abby Lee Miller GIFs are my guilty pleasure

@grizz: Oh no, never have I seen an Abby LeeMiller GIF, but I just Googled it and wow.

Speaking of internet hilariousness - do you all ever read STFU Parents? http://www.stfuparentsblog.com/
This is what I read late at night when I wake up and can't sleep. I always think DH is gonna hear me cracking up downstairs and come down here thinking something is wrong.

@grizz: Eeee so exciting! Even more TMI...the pump actually got me to produce colostrum. I have had no leakage at all this whole pregnancy so that totally took me by surprise, but it has me feeling optimistic that breastfeeding will work out! So exciting about plug and/or bloody show. I lost my plug in two installments last Friday and had some more "stuff" lost when she did the membrane sweep today. It seems like it can meen imminent things or that things are a while off, so frustrating!!
@swedishfish: I also got the Medela Advanced Basic Personal Pump and I also purchased a hand pump in case we need that for some reason--haven't put that one together yet.
@tlcbaby: bask in the laziness--I think your plan of one big task a day is valiant and definitely warrants rest of the day relaxation--that is what we SHOULD be doing, resting up for the big challenges ahead! I struggle with this as well, though--I feel guilty when I am not being productive and enjoying pure leisure time.
@Revel: I am still confused and not sure of the difference between bloody show and mucous plug. Do you know the difference? I feel like I've had some of each, but I don't really know...
Just got from acupuncture and it was intense. Tonight I'll be bouncing on the yoga ball eating spicy Thai food. COME ON, BABY!!

Okay you all inspired me to get out my breast pump and learn how to use it. I thought it would be really difficult because it came with an instructional DVD, but I just read through the book and it wasn't too hard at all. I only turned it on for a second because I was a little scared of starting labor, but I am glad I got it out. I went ahead and washed all of the parts even though I won't be using it for a while.
I also got out our Becco carrier and learned how to use it, too. I feel so productive!

@swedishfish: a fitful night of sleep with lots of increased BH contractions, but no labor over here how are you feeling today?
papaya / 10473 posts
@swedishfish: Just crampy Seeing my OB shortly though. How are you feeling today?
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@maybebaby: @grizz: I'm "AUUUGHH"-ing for you both over here. It is crazy how not in control we are at this point in the game.
I think the consensus that I'm gathering is that labor hits you like a ton of bricks and when you're in it, you're in it.
@grizz: I hope your appointment goes well today.

(Seriously, I think RRL tea, exercise balls, sex, spicy food...was invented just to give us something to do. I wish someone's grandmother had said "sitting on the couch all day watching movies" can induce labor! Because that I can do.)
