@tlcbaby: any gut feelings as to baby's gender? I'm thinking girl for me just because everyone else has had a boy lately (in real life)!
Any other Team Green members have a feeling about baby's gender?

@swedishfish: @tlcbaby: I applaud you Team Greeners. DH was so against not knowing that there is no way I could have convinced him otherwise.

@tlcbaby: how funny!! I've forgot that some of you don't know the sex of your baby!! That's even more exciting! Oh, and ill be adding a blanket for baby, thanks.
It's kinda surreal but we've all been talking since our pregnancies started and now here we are , 9 months later, almost done with our pregnancies. I hope we'll be able to continue talking after babies are here... I sure hope so!

@LazyLightning: congrats on your little cutie!!! hopefully her stay in the nicu will be a distant memory once you bring her home

@swedishfish: No feelings, but I think I mostly don't want to get it in my head one way or the other and then end up having the opposite. I was going to ask if you had any guesses for yours. Most everyone says I am having a boy, except a few dissenters who want to be different and they say girl.
@jh524: Of course! We'll start a new June babies thread and we can all keep up with each other there.

@swedishfish: I am feeling BOY!
I should join this thread. I am due same day as you!
Can't wait for the babies to start to arrive!

@sea_bass: Hi! How have you been feeling near the end here? Are you still working?
kiwi / 542 posts
@tlcbaby: Not working. Feeling great 38 weeks on Monday... Just moved back into our flat so a ton of stuff to keep busy with. I've got trigger finger and feet are swollen so its proving a TAD difficult to get my tasks done! Still pretty relaxed though.
How are you feeling?
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@sea_bass: Yay! Welcome!
I have my next to last OB appointment today. I've officially cracked and I'm going to ask him to check me. I know it doesn't matter one way or another, but if I am completely closed, then it will be much easier getting through the next week coming to terms with an induction.
Wild dream last night. I'll spare you the details, save one: Goofy (yes the Disney character) was with me helping with the baby. I started to change the diaper and he was like, "I've got this."
I have NO idea what that means. (Poor DH thinks Goofy = him, heh.)

I don't want to jinx this... But I'm having contractions every 7 minutes! They started around 10 last night, 10 min apart. Come on, baby Grizz!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@sea_bass: I feel pretty good! Similar issues with my hands - my fingers are always tingly and at night my hands fall asleep completely. I'll be glad when that is over! I am going to the zoo with my sister and her kids today so I am sure I'll be a swollen mess after all that walking!
@Espion: That is hilarious! I had a weird dream, too. I dreamt I adopted a child, but she was about 7 or 8 years old. It was very emotional.
@grizz: Uh oh - might be time to meet baby Grizz! Good luck and keep up updated.

@grizz: YAY! Do you know, I actually got a little dismayed when I saw that you posted on a different thread? This is much better. COME OUT, BABY GRIZZ!
papaya / 10473 posts
@Espion: haha! I can't sleep through them anymore so I'm killing time on HB to let DH sleep! They're still coming strong. I'm torn whether I should rest or really try to get them ramped up w/ the birthing ball.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@grizz: Everyone says to rest, but there is the benefit of hindsight behind the recommendation, ya know?

@grizz: I hope everything is going well!!!
OB appointment today was *not* encouraging.
First the medical assistant takes my blood pressure and it's 147/86. WAY high for me. I'm usually 110's/70's. So she gets the manual cuff and tries to tell me that it is really 124/80's. Now, I know just by looking at the manual cuff that my systolic number was at least in the high 130's. DH even recognizes this, because he required EMT training when he was a volunteer firefighter. So, she has no idea how to take a blood pressure manually.
Then, I snapped at her, because she keeps looking at my chart and saying that I'm "scheduled for a c-section". Finally (after the 3rd appointment she's said this), I figuratively bite her head off and ask where on earth it says that in my chart (because I know it doesn't say that anywhere).
Then I get the OB to check my cervix, and it is way posterior, fingertip dilated, but soft. Which isn't a big deal, but on the US Flipper has either one of his knees or foot in front of his face. He has had a limb in front of his face for every single ultrasound, and I'm afraid that is preventing him from engaging, which means no action on the cervix. Which means no labor.
Now I don't know what to do. He has no real room to move around in there, so I have no way of knowing that he'll be able to flip the leg out of the way in order to engage in the pelvis like he should. The OB offered to move up my induction one week and I feel like this is exactly how it will play out: cervidil (nothing), pitocin x however many hours (nothing) = c-section anyway.
The only benefit to doing this earlier than later is that DH will have more time at home to help me recover. If we did it on the 10th, he'd be leaving for San Diego probably the same day I'd get out of the hospital. (And I have no family here.)
I don't know what to do because no one can see into the future. I can't help but feel like my body is once again betraying me. I feel like now I won't even get the chance to know what it's like for my water to break or to wake up in the middle of the night with contractions.
Sorry for the length, ladies. I'm feeling really upset now.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Espion: I am sorry hun that is a tough decision. How far along will you be if they move it up a week? Does your OB have an opinion on how easy/difficult it will be to deliver vaginally with the baby in that position?
Tomorrow is my due date (original due date was 6/4, but at my second u/s they said 6/1 so I go by that) and I don't think I'll be seeing any action. We are planning on going to an art fair and out to dinner.

I had a little scare yesterday. I'm only at 36w+4d and when I was leaving work I had something strange happen with my vision - like blurry/blinking in both my eyes. So my OB's office sent me to Labor & Delivery where we found that my blood pressure was much higher than normal. Luckily, no contractions, preliminary labs looked ok and baby girl was rolling around as usual. I was sent home with orders to collect urine for 24-hours (yuck) and to get a BP check tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't pre-e! Oh, and they found out that I have a low platelet count, so while I was hoping to go natural and just have an epi as a back up, it seems like I may not even have that as a choice. Same thing happened to my sister! Pregnancy = interesting times!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@GreenThumb: I hope everything is okay! My sister also had PIH and ended up with a scheduled section. Sending good pregnancy vibes to all of us!
@tlcbaby: I'll be 39w4d at that point. I sent a message to my roommate who was an OB way back when I lived in Baltimore. Hopefully she'll be able to give me a more informed idea.
I also (am trying to) stopped feeling sorry for myself and have looked up all sorts of helpful hints to get a malpositioned baby to engage (e.g. spinning babies, etc.). Thankfully, he's facing the correct direction, I just need him to stretch out. DH and I will talk it about it over the weekend re: induction, until then I'm going to pull out all the stops until my next appointment on Tuesday.
I hope these babies get with the program!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@GreenThumb: Aww sorry to hear that, glad everything seems okay, though. I don't know much about low platelet count in pregnancy - does that mean you will have to have a c-section?
@Espion: I'm glad you have a friend you can get an informed opinion from. That should help you make your decision and, like you said, you can just try everything else until your next appt!

hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update on my status - my babe is in a frank breech position at 37+2, and we are not a good candidate to manually turn her, so we are scheduled for a c-section on the 12th (due date is the 19th).
pear / 1986 posts
@tlcbaby: I guess depending on how bad it is you can still deliver without a C-section. It's just that the anethesiologist won't do an epidural if your counts are too low. Just something we have to watch for the next few weeks.
Definitely watching all of you early June mama's and wishing you all the best!! No matter how they get there, as long as babies and mamas are healthy, that is the most important thing!

@Espion: I am so sorry keep the faith - an induction might help move Flipper along! Maybe he'll be able to flip his leg out of the way and get things going.

We are having a baby today or tomorrow! Contractions 5 minutes apart but starting to dip into 4:45. Still laboring at home. Husband is a rock star coach. Contractions are a bitch.

@Espion: try to,stay positive girl and get in those positions so baby can stretch!!!!! Come on baby!!! I understand your pain, I have a medical student with my doc. So now I feel like a preggo project....peachy!! I've snapped at her a few times when she questioned me...I mean really??!!!
@GreenThumb: sorry to hear that, hope your feeling better and keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!
@yourekindapretty: well at least you know the date and can get ready! You'll soon get to meet your baby!!!! Yay!!!
nectarine / 2177 posts
@Espion: Just read your post--so sorry you are feeling anxious about things. I am really hoping for a vaginal birth as well, but if I could see into the future and know I would need a C-section, I would rather just schedule it and not tire myself trying to labor just to have to have the surgery. Have they talked about the possibility of a scheduled C-section? How would you feel about that? Then at least that would take away some anxiety of DH being away. I am sending lots of happy, healthy, engaged baby vibes your way!!
@swedishfish: I guess you can definitely add me to the June mama club! 41 weeks today and not in labor...induction set for June 5
@grizz: Eeeee so exciting!! Been thinking about you all day!
