@maybebaby: @grizz: oh man, hopefully soon for both of you!

My BPP is at 9:30 so I will update after that. I feel really dizzy though today. I might change my half day off of work to a full day.

@Espion: haha, I could get on board with lounging on the couch!

@maybebaby: No idea what the difference between show and plug is! I figured I'd know it when I see it. My TMI for the day is that I'm 99% sure I lost my plug last night - then lots of cramps, tightness and pressure - I was sure this was it! And now I'm at work. I think I totally freaked SO out though when I told him last night. I keep telling him it's going to get so much worse...

@Espion: ha, hilarious! I think all those things provide a false sense of progress.

@swedishfish: @grizz: Hope things go well today!

Hi ladies - my baby girl was born Tuesday at 6:28 pm! My water broke Monday night around 9:45 so went to the ER and was induced. Unfortunately I got an infection due to long labor with water broken and had a fever of 104 by the time I pushed her out. She also had a fever and some sketchy labs. Sadly she has to stay in NICU till Tuesday. But has really improved so it's more a precaution than necessity. Still hard to be going home without my baby.

Here she is. 8 lbs 10 oz, 22 in.

Btw... I did every labor technique going with no results. Even membrane sweep. Water broke when I was watching TV on the couch...

@LazyLightning: CONGRATULATIONS! She's beautiful. I realized we hadn't heard from you and wondered this morning if you might have had LO. I'm sorry she's in the NICU for a few days but glad to hear it seems like things are going well - hopefully these next few days will fly by for you.

@LazyLightning: I've been following this thread recently (thinking I could be an end of June mom!) but I just wanted to say congrats!! She is beautiful, and I hope you get to take her home very soon

@LazyLightning: Congratulations!!! I'm so glad you're here with a healthy baby girl! It seems like nothing could come easy for you, yeeesh. I'm glad she's sailing through her NICU stay. Tuesday is right around the corner! You have also totally validated my "sitting on the couch all day" theory.
    Sending comfy/healing post-partum vibes!

Just had my appointment and (TMI alert) my dr is unsure if I actually had my show or I lost my plug and it was blood tinged. She booked me appointments through June 14th and said I'd have an induction date of June 16th (42+1) if he's not here yet. I about had a breakdown at the thought of being 42 weeks and 1 day pregnant! But she said not to be surprised if it happened. I have a bad case of the sads right now. I want her to be wrong!

@grizz: Ugh! I got really upset on Tuesday because my midwife said she fully expected to see me at my next scheduled appointment. I'll only be 39w and change but I still got frustrated at the idea that she had no expectation of me going in to labor before then... I cried for half an hour after that appt. Oh hormones. I can only imagine how I'll react if and when she brings up 42 weeks. (My practice doesn't like to induce before then either...)

  17. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

The doctor's office won't give me a note to end work early because there's nothing wrong with me medically. But I just found out that I might lose my job due to budget cuts so I may just start taking sick time. This is so not what I need being 37 weeks pregnant.

  18. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@grizz: I think I had the same thing last night - spoke to my nurse line and she just said - this means things are happening but no way to predict. I have my appointment tomorrow so we'll see if I get more info. The thought of 42 weeks is hellish right now!

@knittylady: I think sometimes the MW just doesn't want to get your hopes up, aaaand they really have no idea when labor will start....

@LazyLightning: Ahhhh oh my god! She is beautiful - congratulations! Sorry she has to stay in the NICU, she looks perfect and healthy! You'll have her home with you soon!

@Espion: I am comfortably stationed on the couch for the rest of the afternoon!

@grizz: Oh yikes - well maybe she just likes to err on the side of safety instead of getting your hopes up.

My appt. was pretty uneventful, also. I lost a pound (fine by me!), baby is measuring fine and heartbeat is good. I did ask about the stabby pain I get in my groin every night when the baby is moving and she just said it is the head hitting nerves as baby settles into place. She asked if I wanted an internal exam, but I declined. I'll just go once next week and if I have to come in the following week they'll do a non-stress test (I'll be 41 weeks by then).

  20. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@knittylady: She felt so bad when she told me that she gave me a 'privilege card', i.e., I have a card saying she'll come deliver my baby even if she's not the OB on call at my practice. That made me feel a little better. I hope neither of us find out what 42 weeks looks like!

@swedishfish: Awww no When will you find out for sure? I would definitely start using your sick time since you aren't feeling well.

@Revel: I'm hoping you get more info tomorrow! I had no idea how nerve wracking the end of pregnancy would be!

@tlcbaby: Glad you had a good appointment! I get those stabby pains too and I hate them.

  21. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@swedishfish: What?! Oh no! Definitely not a stress you need right now. I hope it is all just nasty rumors.

@swedishfish: I am so sorry, like you don't have enough going on already! Any idea on when you will find out what is really going on?

  23. knittylady

Are any of you asking those who will be around the baby in the beginning to get the tdap vaccine? I've been worrying about that and just read on the cdc website that it's recommended 2 weeks before anticipated contact with an infant.... We haven't asked anyone yet, I'm worried about sounding nuts... What do you guys think/plan on doing?

  24. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@knittylady: I am asking my ILs to get one since they will see the baby consistently. Our nanny has already gotten one since she has a LO of her own. DH got his last August because he stepped on a nail, so he's covered I wasn't comfortable getting one while pregnant, so I'll get it after delivery.

  25. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@knittylady: I didn't want to get it while pregnant so I brought it up with my midwife. The stance at their practice is they are not pushing it, but are giving it if people want it. They said it is all about your comfort level. I don't think we will have people get it---we just plan to have everybody wash hands before handling baby and try to distance the baby from anybody who is sick.

We will get the vaccine for the baby when the time comes. I think DH and I are both up to date.

@swedishfish: Must have missed this, ugh, what a stress that you don't need! Fingers crossed everything works out.

@knittylady: I kind of slacked on the TDap for everyone but myself. I got it at about 35 weeks. SO did not, and we did not mention it to family members. I was less concerned given the season, and just plan to keep baby away from sick people and indoor crowds as much as possible when she's tiny.

  27. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@grizz: @Espion: @tlcbaby: @Revel: thanks, everyone. I will find out on June 19 if I have a job. The budget re-vote is June 18 (one day after my due date) but hopefully I will be distracted by a shiny new baby by then. These pregnancy hormones are making me extra extra emotional (when I'm usually only extra emotional), ha.

I hope everyone is feeling well! It's hot here today and I can see some swelling on my hands and feet.

@LazyLightning: forgot to ask earlier, how are YOU feeling?

What types of clothing for baby are you packing to take to the hospital? Like what size onesies? Short sleeved or long sleeved onesies? Newborn or 3 months??!! Do i bring one outfit? Lol I'm already overpacking for baby...geeze!!! And did you pack diapers?

  30. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@jh524: I packed an assortment because DH was a big ol' baby and I am worried about what will fit. I am not too concerned about keeping baby wrapped up and cozy because it is so hot here so this is what I have in my bag:

Newborn s/s onesie and matching hat
    Newborn l/s Sleep n Play
    0-3 l/s Sleep n Play
    Socks
2 Newborn diapers and wipes (samples I have received during pregnancy, these are only for an emergency on the ride home)

  31. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@jh524: I'm only bringing a onesie, hat and two pairs of socks (one to use as mittens, as I don't have any mitten'd shirts). It's far too hot here for a long sleeve. We also have to bring a blanket if we want to swaddle, as the hospital will no longer let us take a blanket home.

Come to think of it, I may find a shirt or two tomorrow, because the umbilical stump will probably preclude a onesie...

I'm not packing diapers, because the hospital should have them.

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@jh524: Oh I forgot to mention that I did throw in a blanket and I gave my Mom a $25 gift card for Children's Place that I received at my shower with instructions to pick up some cute clothes on the way to the hospital once we know if it is a boy or a girl.

Randomness - I woke up at 5:24 this morning and your screen name popped into my head!

  35. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@tlcbaby: that's a good idea! I think I'm sending my mom and sisters out to shop for clothes after the baby is born. I'm a little tired of gender neutral already

  36. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@swedishfish: Luckily most of our neutral clothing was hand me downs because I haven't had much motivation to go out and buy any. We have enough to get us through until we can go get some boy or girl clothes.

@tlcbaby: are you so excited to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl? I feel like it's still surreal at this point.

So much going on on this board! Congrats to @LazyLightning and @Bisous on their new little bundles...

I'm 37 weeks + 2 days now, and hubby and I had date night at Mesa Grill tonight. Mmm, tasty. I definitely couldn't pass up dessert but had not even a smidge of room left, so I ordered dessert to go.

I'm planning to work right up to the Friday before my due date (June 14; due June 18) if baby doesn't come early, of course. Feeling okay, just big and awkward, and my feet are swelling up like nothing else. The heat must be a contributing factor, I guess. Hubs and I got out on the sailboat on Sunday and Monday last weeken, and we are hoping to do a race this Saturday. He was joking that if I went into labor on the boat during the race we might have to forfeit, if we wound up finishing with more crewmembers than we started with. Such a funny guy...

Have my weekly OB appt tomorrow morning so we'll see if there's been any progress. Last week's news was that my cervix was soft, baby's head was down low, but no dilation yet.

  39. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@swedishfish: I am! I didn't think about it for so long, but now that I know I could find out any day I am getting pretty excited.

  40. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@tinypiglet: sounds like everything is lining up for labor A sailboat race sounds fun. Maybe if you went into labor it would be motivation to win and get you to the hospital!
