@tlcbaby: I'm glad you had a great day yesterday!
@GreenThumb: that is fabulous that your placenta previa cleared up! You must be so relieved!

I am getting discouraged even though I'm just 38 weeks today. It seems like everyone I know IRL has gone early so, statistically, I'm more likely to go late.
BPP at 9 AM tomorrow.

@swedishfish: I know what you mean. I'm 39w2d and I feel like this kid must want to hang out forever. I feel like everyone else is early and Flipper is picketing ("hell no, we won't go!"). He may not have a choice tomorrow, though, depending on my exam.
Good luck on your BPP tomorrow!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Espion: haha, Flipper likes his cozy home too much. I like the picketing idea! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.
I'm trying to decide if I should just take the whole day off of work tomorrow because DH is off.

@swedishfish: I was mad for WEEKS when people i knew due near or after me started having babies. Seriously by week 36 I was fit to be tied, even though I knew statistically I had a month+ left. Jealousy is such a b*tch!

@swedishfish: Did you take off work? That would have been my vote if I had seen this earlier.

Well, we're waiting to be called in tonight for an induction. It's not the best, because, frankly, it is a medically unnecessary (but emotionally necessary) induction. If I waited until one week post-dates, then I would be getting induced on the 17th or 18th...and DH would already be gone. I'm praying that the cervidil is effective. I give myself a 60% chance of ending up with a c-section.
If this is exceptionally tough, I'm totally blaming the Navy.

@LazyLightning: yeah, I'm just done! I really wanted a couple of weeks off of school before summer vacation started so I felt like I got more time with the baby but it is what it is.
@tlcbaby: I did stay home from work! It's nice even if it's just for a day :-). I'm trying to get the rest of the major cleaning done.
@Espion: good luck! Stay positive and hopefully Flipper will move that limb so you can deliver naturally. I'll say some prayers for you and Flipper. Let us know how things are going.

@Espion: thinking of you! Keep us updated!
As for me, I think I might be losing some of my plug?? Maybe just a lot of discharge... Who knows!

@Espion: Aww, I know it isn't your ideal situation, but at least you get to meet your baby and your husband will be here for it! Keep us updated!

@Espion: Sending good thoughts your way! I'm sure that once baby arrives you won't care at all about the induction and will be so happy to have time together with DH and LO!

@tlcbaby: happy due date!!! How a you feeling? Anything happening?!!!
@Espion: good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly for you!!!

Just popping in - still following the pregnancy board and excited to "meet" all your babies.
@Espion: Good luck with your induction! You will have your baby so soon.
I hope the rest are hanging in through the last days of pregnancy. I was so sure I was going to go late I'm kind of shocked that she arrived on her due date and I am not still pregnant this week.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@jh524: @swedishfish: Thanks!! Meh, doesn't seem like anything is happening.
@Revel: I am sure after being pregnant for so long it is weird not to be, even when you have your baby there with you!
I do have a question, though. I am gonna Google this too, but is the mucous plug always blood-tinged or can it just look like whitish discharge (to anyone who has lost theirs). I just saw something in the toilet much bigger than anything else I've seen, but who knows?
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@tlcbaby: I had whitish discharge this morning too. Don't really know what to think of it! Let me know what google tells you haha.

@swedishfish: @knittylady: @tlcbaby: @GreenThumb: @jh524: @Revel: Thank you ladies! The games are officially afoot!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@knittylady: I was very careful not to google any images because I remember some of the other girls saying not to. From what I saw it can be whitish and just look like regular discharge and can come out over weeks or all at once. I always thought it would be brown or reddish, but from what I read that isn't true.
pear / 1563 posts
@tlcbaby: I lost mine I think starting on Wed evening, and it definitely looked like mucous and was yellowish. I would bet it could be white, but would definitely have that "snotty" quality - so glamourous
@jh524: Thanks for asking, we are doing relatively well! I had bad tearing and today is the worst so far for pain unfortunately - they said it should peak around 3-4 days so I'm hopeful maybe today is the worst. Baby is wonderful. She did have us up pretty much all night last night cluster feeding and refusing to sleep anywhere but on me until like 5am. She took a 4 hr nap between 430 and 830 pm which may have caused some of that, so we have been more diligent about waking her to feed at least every 2 hours today. The pedi said that once the milk comes in those cluster feeds should shorten up a little bit. I also made sure to take a couple short naps and a good long 2.5 hour one today.
Mostly we are great though and I just can't believe she's here.

So, I was just at L&D last week with a high BP scare and unfortunately today at my OB appointment it was high again. So a diagnosis of gestational hypertension it is for me. We have twice a week non-stress tests now and could have to be induced at 39 weeks. (I'm 37w2d today). Not the worst news ever, but not great. Baby girl is still doing awesome and passed the non-stress test with flying colors so that is good news. Oh, and I'm 1 cm dilated so at least things are headed down the right path. If only I can go into labor on my own in the next 2 weeks we'll be golden. OB's only instructions to help get labor started - s*e*x. Guess DH will be happy to hear that!

@GreenThumb: do you have a blood pressure cuff? I keep track of my BP at home everyday because I have white coat syndrome at times. Buy a cheap one and keep track of it for yourself and bring the list to your next appointment.
I had my BPP this morning. Baby passed with flying colors but I went to my practice's smaller office and the NP there refuses to do cervical checks before 39 weeks and only really likes to do them if you're going to be induced. The NP in my regular office said she starts them at 38 weeks. So no cervical check for me today and my next appointment is over a week away - next Thursday. I just wanted to see if I made any progress past 2.5 cm for curiosity's sake.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@GreenThumb: What do they do during the non-stress test? If I make it until next week I'll have to have one. Sorry about the high BP, but good that they are just keeping an eye on baby to see how she is doing and let her keep baking a bit.
@swedishfish: I am still debating a cervical check at my appt. Thursday morning. I am SO curious, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed so I might just wait.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tlcbaby: I think a NST is the monitoring portion of my BPP. They put two monitors on your abdomen - one for fetal heart rate and one for contractions and make you sit or lie down for twenty minutes. I would ask to sit up.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: Oh thanks! Yeah, I would prefer to be propped up a bit I think.
pear / 1986 posts
@tlcbaby: NST - exactly what @swedishfish said. Really no big deal and sitting up is definitely more comfortable. I've already had 3 NSTs at this point and all have been about 30 min. I actually had a contraction during mine today although I didn't feel it at all.
@swedishfish: My mom also mentioned the white coat syndrome, but I was actually feeling quite relaxed going in there and confident that my BP was down since it was down when I was in there on Saturday. But monitoring at home might give me a sense of comfort, too. So glad the BPP went well today!! I feel like the cervical checks can be a blessing (if you are progressing) and a curse (if you aren't). I wasn't going to have one today since at 37 weeks I don't really think it is needed, but I wasn't given the choice given the BP issue.

@GreenThumb: would you mind saying what your blood pressure is? Mine sky high for me and I don't even have another medical appointment booked before delivery.. My due dates in 2 weeks. Last time I saw a midwife they mentioned hypertension but then no ones doing anything about it..
pear / 1986 posts
@sea_bass: So my normal during this pregnancy has been about 110/70 and the two high readings were 137/93 and 128/92. I think they start to get concerned when you are over 140 on the systolic or over 90 on the diastolic more than once and/or 20 points over your normal for either. I was having vision trouble last week, too, which is a sign of pre-e, so I think they are just being cautious. If you are concerned, you should ask them to check you again, but I hope all is really ok. Definitely check out the other symptoms of pre-e to watch for and make sure baby is moving regularly.

@GreenThumb: Thanks for letting me know. My baseline was about the same as yours all the way through. Over the weekend it was up to 150/95. I had my urine checked and there was no signs of protein so I guess they have decided I am fine..?
The care here (in the UK) is quite hands off, but I am not sure if I should be having some monitoring, or at least a scheduled appointment before my due date.
Certainly no one has discussed a treatment plan or induction, so I was just curious to see how different our medical care is..

Well my next appt. is tomorrow morning, but I still feel like nothing much is happening. I guess I am helping to even out the average by going after my due date!

I was up repeatedly from midnight to 5 am with contractions about 7-8 mins apart, but then they magically went away. So frustrating! I hope this is a sign of things moving along, and not just a precursor to several nights of the same b.s. I have a dr's appt tomorrow morning so we'll see how things look then I guess.
@tlcbaby: hope your appointment goes well!

@knittylady: happy due date!!! How are you feeling?
@tlcbaby: how are you? Hope you hear the news you want at your appt. today. I have an appt today as well but not expecting anything different than the typical appt...
@tinypiglet: your body is preparing, those are good signs!!!
@sea_bass: I'm wondering why you aren't having weekly appointments until you give birth...I'd make another appt.,, especially if your worried about your Blood pressure....Better to be aware of what's going on than just wondering and worrying for that matter. Keep us posted.

@jh524: Yes I do find it rather odd. I have left them a pager message and am waiting for them to call me back. Hopefully they will schedule something for next week at least!
Unless they have some all seeing power and know I am going to deliver before then...?

@knittylady: happy due date!! How are you feeling?
@tinypiglet: At least you know things are moving in the right direction Maybe they can give you some more insight at your appt.
@jh524: I went ahead and had them check me at the appt. this morning. My curiosity got the best of me! She said I am 2-3cm dilated and my cervix was very soft, more than 50% effaced. She could feel my baby's head, which was totally weird to me.
If I make it to next week Ill let them strip my membranes. She asked if I wanted to do it today, but we hadn't discussed it at all beforehand so we decided to wait. At least I know there is progress!
@sea_bass: Hope you hear back from them soon!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@sea_bass: Boo!
Oh just a note to everyone, I asked my midwife which old wives tales actually work to get labor going and she said the only ones with any evidence behind them are membrane stripping and sex. She said I should rest instead of going for a five mile walk in case labor is on its way
