@knittylady: congrats!!! Excited you finally have your baby in your arms!!!!
@swedishfish: I was also up for a few hours with strong, painful cramping. I can tell thing are starting to happen. I was extremely tired yesterday, like literally slept off and on all day, extremely thirsty, extra emotional, cramps and feeling kinda sickly...
@tlcbaby: bet your excited to get home!!! How's baby doing? Hope your recovering quickly!

@knittylady: congratulations! can't wait to hear the whole story!
@tlcbaby: hooray for heading home with your sweet little one! fingers crossed all goes well and you settle in easily.
@swedishfish: I am right there with you. We went swimming at a neighborhood pool with some friends yesterday and afterward thought maybe things were finally happening for real. I was up multiple times last night with painful contractions, but by dawn they had yet again disappeared. Sneaky little buggers.
I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and have always had it in my head that I'll go a week early...guess we'll see! I'm working from home this week for as long as I can, so I'm hoping it will be a short workweek!

@tinypiglet: are you trying anything to bring on labor? I've been trying to exercise and drink red rasp. Tea....just noticing a lot more cramping as of late.....it's almost our time!!!!
cherry / 184 posts
@jh524: Nothing in particular other than trying to get up and move around. I think I might have some of that tea in the kitchen but hadn't remembered that I needed to try it! Lots of cramping, agreed. And some brown discharge, but not consistently. Everything is inconsistent, which is the frustrating part! I keep reminding myself that this is the home stretch and I should enjoy the quiet house and the remainder of my pregnancy instead of wishing it away so quickly!

@tlcbaby: I hope you are home already and resting comfortably with the baby!

@jh524: I'm still walking two miles a day and it hasn't brought on labor yet for me! I give up - this kid will come when he/she wants to.

@tinypiglet: haha, my mom keeps reminding me that a baby is harder to care for once he/she is on the outside.

well add me to the list of the impending births - went to the doctor today and they did a non stress test and ultrasound and he determined I have borderline low amniotic fluid. This means they're inducing me tomorrow at 7:15am. Eeek! I was shocked to say the least (and almost broke down in tears, that was a weird reaction)

@knittylady: Congratulations!! First hurdle complete!! Enjoy your baby, they are so much fun to stare at! I could spend all day (and usually do, heh).
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@jh524: @swedishfish: I feel like you ladies are super close! Absolutely nothing was happening for me, so all of the crampiness have to be good signs!
Strange to think that if I kept our original induction date, that I wouldn't be sitting here with this little man in my arms! I have to work on my birth story, but it turned out that my instincts were totally correct - this kid wasn't going anywhere and what happened had to happen. (In fact, my OB said I shouldn't consider laboring next time.). I guess the baby/labor instincts go both ways.

@itsmejules: Good luck! I was induced and felt really well taken care of. You can do it!

@itsmejules: good luck to you!! Try not to worry, your baby's arrival will make it all worth it!!!!
@swedishfish: I'm so impressed you still walk two miles a day! I tried walking for 20 min. Today and it definitely makes the cramps stronger. I can feel baby very low in my pelvis now and I'm sporting the waddle.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@jh524: someone told me I still look high which made me sad! But other people have said the baby has dropped a bit. The walking definitely makes the contractions stronger. There are times I have to stop and wait it out.

Yeow, the hospital just called me in for my induction. (Today was the original date.) I'm guessing the office didn't cancel it. I told them no, I just got this baby asleep!!

@Espion: haha, that's so funny!
I am having the worst hot flashes all of a sudden. I had to rip off my shirt (luckily I have a tank top on too) even though the AC is set to 66.

@swedishfish: I had those post-partum...they told me it was raging pregnancy hormones. I didn't even realize it until I saw that DH and the LO were both swaddled, heh. Poor DH froze our entire hospital stay.

@swedishfish: We got home about 1:00-it's been a long day of mostly eating. DH has been awesome cooking and cleaning up. And we gave A a little sponge bath
@itsmejules: Good luck tomorrow! Try and get some sleep tonight.
@Espion: That is hilarious!
Okay I am gonna tell you all-witch hazel soaked maxi pads thrown in the freezer...best thing ever. They have felt really good today. I made them before I went to the hospital.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tlcbaby: did you just unwrap regular pads and soak them in witch hazel? I just want to double check before I go off on an adventure and mess everything up!
@Espion: I'm having one now! I can't imagine what menopause must be like.
@knittylady: what's your beautiful baby's exact birthday?
@itsmejules: good luck today!

@tlcbaby: this will be a life saver! I've been fearing leaving the land of ice diapers!

@knittylady: Congrats mama When will you be headed home?
I only wore the diaper size the first day. By the second day the extra jumbo hospital pads seemed to be enough. But the frozen ones feel quite nice I must say!

@itsmejules: thinking about you and hoping all is going well today!
@espion: how funny! guess they were a little surprised to hear you wouldn't be coming in....
@tlcbaby: I will be taking that advice, thanks!

Hi! So sorry to disappear. We were induced on Friday evening due to my hypertension and we had baby girl - Ayla Charlotte - on Saturday (6/8) at 11:16 pm. We are both doing great and came home yesterday. She was 6 lbs 2 oz and 18 inches long. The delivery was perfect despite the induction happening 2 weeks before our EDD. I'll have to catch up on everyone's updates soon!

@swedishfish THANK YOU!
i'm sorry i haven't participated much in this thread - i do creepishly lurk everyday though
I'll let you guys know about my c-section experience (i might be wrong but i think i might be the first in the group to get a csection?)
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@yourekindapretty: I think you'll be the second to have a c-section. Espion had one also. What time do you go in tomorrow?

@GreenThumb: Yea, congrats! She is beautiful!
@grizz: So sweet!
@swedishfish: You'll be glad you did!
Some other advice we received from DH's fried was to take as much home from the hospital room as you can - diapers, wipes, blankets, etc. Our nurse pretty much cleaned the room out for us to make sure we got all the little things we'd been using while we were there.

@swedishfish - AH! i should start following espion on the post partum thread!
I'm scheduled for a 10:30am spot so i'll be at the hospital by 8:30! I can't wait, this girl's head is pressing on my ribs and the pain is getting unbearable!

@tlcbaby: I hope my nurses are as nice as yours!
@yourekindapretty: so exciting! Keep us updated.

Yep to @TLCbaby 's advice.
my lamaze teacher told us "if the bag is open, take everything inside of it!" she said to not be shy and just take all the stash in the hospital room - at the end of the day, you're paying for it!
Unfortunately, my hospital won't let us take the receiving blanket though =( i was told to ask for one anyway and explain that we need the scented blanket to bring home to our dogs (so they can get acclimated with the baby's scent).
