@tlcbaby: Very good advice! We cleaned our room out too, and my postpartum nurse was awesome and brought me a bag of extras when I asked her for more of the 'ice diaper' gear as @knittylady called it C is wearing his little hospital tee as we speak!

@yourekindapretty: good luck tomorrow!! I bet your so excited, finally... It's time to meet that baby! keep us posted
@tlcbaby: I'm gonna try the pads and witch hazel as well, I want to be prepared when returning home... Anything to make it just that much easier will be so worth it!

@jh524: Agree! We made a ton of freezer meals, but then I went grocery shopping the day I went into labor so we are trying to use that stuff up first.

@yourekindapretty: Good luck today!! The c-section part of my experience was, by far, the easiest part. The hard parts about the c-section were the spinal "shakes" (I shook uncontrollably throughout the procedure and for about an hour after). Stay on top of your pain control initially and you'll have a much easier recovery. Have the nurses show you how to get out of bed. I had my epidural in for 24 hours after the procedure and was able to bolus myself pain meds. After that, I had a total of 2 doses of Percocet, then just Motrin thereafter. I don't consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, but I was out of bed and ready to leave the hospital by post-op day 1.
Don't let the actual procedure part worry you...OBs do this over and over and over again. Just think about you LO and all of a sudden, you'll hear their sweet cries.

I had the worst leg cramps last night. My legs still hurt from them. My lower back hurts. I just want something to start happening!

@swedishfish: I had lower back pain last night and this morning. It didn't come and go... Still got a bit excited thinking it might be something!! I which out of us will go first!?!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@sea_bass: I think you will go first. I'm going to be that girl who walks around dilated for weeks and still has to be induced, ha.
kiwi / 542 posts
@swedishfish: I am in no rush How do you know you are dilated? Did you get a check? They don't do that here (I think) so I have NO IDEA... DH doesn't want to miss any of the US Open so he doesn't want anything to happen before due date.. We'll see! Are you taking/doing anything to bring it on? I have been having raspberry leaf capsules and eating pineapple. But I like pineapple...
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@sea_bass: I've had two checks, the most recent being May 27. I was 2.5 cm then and 50-60% effaced. But those were both at the hospital. I should get one at the doctors' office tomorrow. I am not doing anything besides walking but I wasn't able to walk yesterday so I feel extra crummy right now! Maybe you'll have a US Open baby!
Oh, we did try doing the deed last Saturday to bring on labor...it didn't work for me
kiwi / 542 posts
@swedishfish: Walking makes me so tired/swollen the day after so I've been taking it easy as I don't want to be in a complete state when baby does decide to come You seem like you are well on your way!! Exciting!!

@jh524: I've made a lot of witch hazel pads and LOVE them. Even 2 weeks PP, I used one last night because i felt sore after a lot of traveling around. They're very soothing. I literally just take a pad, squirt witch hazel in it, fold it back up in its wrapper and freeze it.

@sea_bass: Walking didn't work for me. I wore myself OUT every damn day trying to make her come. I'd walk and feel sick and then feel awful the rest of the day. One day I even mowed our lawn and the neighbor's lawn. On Memorial Day, my husband commanded me to take it easy. We hung out and watched Netflix, ate a nice lunch, took a drive. That night my water broke. I was sitting on the couch doing nothing. lol
Here I'd been bouncing on my fitness ball, doing stairs, walking, mowing, driving bumpy roads, etc....I ate a whole pineapple, I did evening primrose oil, we DTD. I had my membranes stripped the previous week, even. maybe it helped, maybe not. i will tell you that tho my water broke, I was only 1.5 CM dilated and not having contractions when I went to the hospital.

@LazyLightning: well that's good to know. I figure that baby will come out regardless so best that I don't completely wipe myself out charging around.
(Well I say that now, not sure what I will do if I go over and people are discussing inductions... etc).
nectarine / 2750 posts
@sea_bass: I would also suggest resting! I would much rather start labor after a long nap than a long walk
I forgot to say that I kept waiting to feel my contractions start in my back and wrap around to the front, but they didn't feel that way for me. Just felt cramping in the front where you would expect period cramps, but on both sides.

@tlcbaby: Oh that's great. My Mum started labour each time in the morning and said it was great as she started off very well rested. Well, I haven't done a great deal today other than napping and HBing
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@LazyLightning: @tlcbaby: I only walk two miles a day. Prior to pregnancy I did around four a day. I think the walking has kept my swelling down and makes me feel good about myself. Plus moderate exercise is encouraged with GD because it's good for blood sugar numbers.
Hope your babies are doing well!!!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: I do agree about that-they just told me not to go for any five mile walks or anything I would have gone crazy if I hadn't been active though.

I gained a pound since Saturday not enough walking and too much cake. Ugh, this stinks! I guess the bright side is that I'm still under 25 pounds in the weight gain category.
BPP at 9:30. Hopefully I'll get a cervical check today.

@swedishfish: good luck at your appt today!
Yesterday I worked from home all day, went to get a much needed haircut, took a long walk in the city, and had spicy mexican food for dinner. Slept like a log for the most part and feel slightly crampy this morning, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's so weird not to have any idea when everything will happen! I am wondering if the crazy storms rolling through nyc today will get things moving for our little one...

@swedishfish: I have an appt today too, same time in fact, and am getting a cerv. Check. I'm not really looking forward to that at all ... Enjoy these last moments of being preggo!!!! so dont worry and eat cake!!!
@tinypiglet: sounds like a wonderful day! I want to go get a massage!! Yes, ,maybe the pressure of the storm will get thing rolling for you!!!! Exciting!!!!!
Can't wait to hear from @yourkindapretty and @itmejules!!!!!

@swedishfish: I went into labor the day after my first check-I think it stirred things up!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tinypiglet: @jh524: @tlcbaby: thanks everyone! I am 3.5 cm dilated, 75% effaced but baby is not engaged yet. My due date is Monday and that's when my next appointment is so we will set an induction date then...but the good news is that the NP said she doesn't think I'll need an induction.
@jh524: how was your appointment?
cherry / 184 posts
@swedishfish: That sounds like a great appointment! Are you excited? I have my check in with the OB tomorrow morning, and I'm due the day after you.
@jh524: anxious to hear how your appt went!
@tlcbaby: one of my work colleagues (who has four kids) said her doc would do cervical checks each week in the last month (mine did too) and then at the last check before the due date it was almost like he did a little jiggle during the check, and she would go into labor within days. sneaky.
pear / 1632 posts
@swedishfish:ooh!! Your on your way!!! That's great news! And
@tinypiglet.... My appt went well. The cervical check wasn't near as bad as I had imagined it! My cervix is very high and posterior, he could barely locate it. But he did say baby is very low in pelvis, at a -2 and something about effacement but I forgot what he said..dang it!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tinypiglet: I'm excited but also absolutely terrified at how our lives are about to be changed forever! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow!
@jh524: glad your appointment went well! The cervical check wasn't bad for me either...just a little uncomfortable.
So DH is working until 11 PM tonight and left his cell phone at home. He's never left his cell phone at home before. Luckily he can be reached on a company cell phone that's in the truck he's using.

I know I've been MIA for a long time but just wanted to drop in and say that baby Ezra was born on June 6th. He was 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. I was really nervous about labor but thankfully ended up with the natural, pain med free birth I had hoped for. It seems so surreal that my baby is a week old already!
@swedishfish: @jh524: @tinypiglet: Good luck!

I'm the last in line here but im on a mission to go early. So as I type this I'm bouncin on my ball and drinking red rasp. Leaf tea after a 25 min walk. Woohoo. Lets go baby!!!!! Might persuade the hubby to "do the deed" tonight too!!
What are YOU doing?? : )
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@jh524: I walked two miles today. That's it! DH is working so no doing of the deed tonight. I am having some contractions but nothing of significance.

In bizarre news, my husband's dog (he's always been my husband's dog, not mine - seriously attached like velcro) has been following me around the house tonight. Right now he's laying on the floor by my feet. He wants nothing to do with my husband, which is so. weird. Maybe he knows something we don't?! A friend of mine says their cat did the same thing right before she went into labor. Now I'm kinda freaked out.

@dewdrop: congrats on your baby boy! i hope you'll write up a birth story - glad it all went according to plan!

@tinypiglet: my dog has been following me around today too! He's currently staring at me from the living room while I brush my teeth. Haha, he probably just wants a treat from me.

Oh I'll be interested to see if the dog theory is correct!

Well, doctor says that I am doing just fine; about 2 cm dilated and plenty effaced. She is hoping to see me at the hospital this weekend, and after the rather vigorous cervical check she gave me I think she might be right! (Ow!) We'll see. She also gave me a referral form for a growth scan just in case I go past my Tuesday due date; here's hoping that's not what happens. She seems to think it won't, but she also thought I'd go last week, so who knows.
How is everyone feeling today?!
