@caitlanc: @Circusbee: welcome!
One hurdle passed - my progesterone went from 3.7 on Friday to 18.7 today (the RE likes it around 20). I will stay on the Endometrin inserts AND the PIO injections for the time being. My hCG went from 1,038 on Friday to 3,349 today.
My first sono is next Monday! Thanks for all of the good wishes, everyone. I will catch up on this thread later.

Hi ladies!! I am SO excited to be posting here. I got my first BFP last Wednesday, but because of previous losses I was waiting to get darker lines and increasing betas before I joined. So here I am! I can't wait to get to know all you February mommas
Location: North Carolina
EDD: February 16
How far along: 4 weeks
First child? Yes!
First doctor appointment: 6/26
Any symptoms so far? Sore boobs, cramps, and bloating! So. much. bloating. I feel full ALL the time.
Who have you told? Just DH and HB

@swedishfish: I've been lurking on this thread for the last few days and was hoping everything would turn out okay. So glad things are looking good!!

Joining! I wasn't sure if I'd be due in jan or feb but now I have a date
Location: NJ near NYC
EDD: February 2
How far along: 6 weeks
First child? Nope. A 19 month old DD
First doctor appointment: today! Saw a Nurse for confirmation and medical history but ended up going for bloodwork and ultrasound because I am spotting and had a miscarriage 3 months ago.
Any symptoms so far? None. Feel totally normal. That combined with the spotting had me totally freaked out.
Who have you told? DH obviously, both parents, my siblings and a few close friends. We're not huge secret keepers.

@Tidybee: yay! How's your spotting doing now?
@Kbee: thanks!

@kbee @tidybee: Congratulations and welcome!! Excited to be on this journey with you!

@swedishfish: still there. Brown sometimes but also red sometimes. The nurse did a pap and said its motly coming from my cervix. She touched itnith the swab and it immediately started bleeding bright red and a lot of it. That has given me some peace of mind but this is how my m/c in Feb was so I'm still on edge. I forgot to add that I did see a heartbeat today!

@swedishfish: how is your spotting? Is the progesterone helping? I'm waiting for my levels tomorrow...
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Tidybee: I had the red spotting on Friday and a little brown spotting on Saturday. The PIO injections have definitely been helping because I haven't had any since. *knock on wood*. I hope your levels are nice and high!

@swedishfish: Yay yay yay!!!! Such great news!!!
@caitlanc: @Circusbee: @Tidybee: @Kbee: Welcome!! Such a great group we have for Feb '15!
I woke up this morning with some serious right hip pain. I couldn't get comfortable again, and decided to go ahead and call the on-call nurse; it was about 5 a.m. at that point. She indicated I didn't have anything to worry about, but had me call the office when they opened this morning, just in case. So now I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting for my call-back, and hoping I can find some place quiet with cell service when the nurse does call (I work in the middle of nowhere and cell service is spotty at best...but my office is too small and too crowded to have them call my desk phone... #FirstTrimesterProblems)

Haha I love that!! #firsttrimesterproblems
Speaking of... I broke down and used the hair tie trick today and I don't regret it one bit. I feel so much better now.
I also switched to decaf coffee beginning today
persimmon / 1147 posts
@Circusbee: I hear ya about the decaf coffee. I bought some target vanilla flavored kind that is decent but not quite the same. DD was up at 5:30 today and I totally could have use a little caffine pick me up.

I had my first u/s today at 5w6d by my count (temps & opks), but slightly more than 6 weeks by theirs (lmp) and they saw a yolk sac but could not confirm a fetal pole so I have to go back next week. With my betas being so high I was hoping to see more, but now I just have to wait it out. I know there is no reason to be pessimistic yet, but yeesh it's hard to keep my nerves in check.

@Mrs. Detour: It's so hard. I go back next Thursday to see if there is a heartbeat and I'm so terrified. DH is trying to keep me thinking positive but it's so difficult! You saw what you should have seen but I totally understand that you wanted to see more.
nectarine / 2834 posts
@Mrs. Detour: Ihad my ultrasound yesterday at 6 weeks exactly and the tech said if I had come the day before, she doesn't think she would have seen anything.
@swedishfish: I heard back about my leves -- 6.8 progesterone so they're starting me on oral prometrium today. my hcg is also really low (it was higher at 4 1/2 weeks when I had my m/c...and especially considering I saw a heartbeat yesterday), so I'm pretty nervous. I go back tomorrow for another blood draw and then will find out Thursday if this is all good or if it's failing....ugh.
apricot / 251 posts
@MrsTal I'm also headed in next Thursday to look for a heartbeat. In the meantime, my DH is also trying to keep me positive, but his cheerleading hasn't sunk in yet.
@TidyBee your tech's comment makes me feel a lot better. Mine made lots of faces while poking around and then announced that she needed to get the doctor. As someone who can't watch a movie without first googling for spoilers, this was not the reaction I was hoping for. I hope that your blood tests move I'm the right direction this week!
nectarine / 2834 posts
@Mrs. Detour: ugh, don't you hate the faces?? Mine made all kinds of squinty eyes and looking closer at the screen. I got so nervous, I started shaking, so she asked why, and I spilled that I was bleeding and nervous because I had a miscarriage 3 months ago, and she was like "oh your baby is fine - see?!" and swung the screen towards me. She also told me she's not allowed to do that without the doctor there, but it was our secret.

Have any of you 2nd-time mamas ever traveled while pregnant? I'm supposed to go someplace very far away in about a month. The midwives already said it was OK but gave me some tips like to stay hydrated, get up and walk on the plane frequently, and wear compression stockings. Do you have any other tips? It'll be a very very very long flight...
apricot / 251 posts
@citrusbee I'm traveling abroad in a few weeks as well. The only advice my doctor had was to stay hydrated and get enough sleep. I'd love to know what more experiences mammas recommend.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Circusbee: @Mrs. Detour: I took a 3 hour flight while 22(?) weeks pregnant with R. The doctor just told me to stay hydrated and make sure I moved my legs every hour. I had such terrible MS with R that I could not imagine traveling in the first trimester. Hopefully you both won't have the bad MS!

@circusbee: I got my hair ties out too! I also ordered a Bella band--my poor bloated belly will be so happy

@tidybee: Yay! So glad to see you here I hope that things go well this week and am praying for a happy baby in there!
@heartabandoned: love the hasthag! I feel like it applies to about 27 different things that happen during the day - especially at work since I can't tell anyone. agh.
@circusbee: @Mrs. Coral: great idea with the hair ties! I'm thinking I need to invest in a few new dresses for this first trimester...

@kbee I feel like it's going to be obvious pretty soon and it's hard not being able to tell anyone at work... Although I kind of don't want to tell anyone there yet, so I'm not feeling tempted.
Speaking of work, when is everyone telling their bosses, coworkers, etc? I'm not sure yet...
Right now I'm a bit preoccupied with how to tell our parents. I'm not sure if we should wait until Father's Day or blurt it out over the phone during this week (both of our parents are far away, so in person is not an option.) I know my parents don't think we are ready for a baby, so I'm a little worried that they will be less than overjoyed at first.
clementine / 901 posts
@Circusbee: my boss saw me near tears during my second beta call, so she knows, as well as one if my coworkers who is one of my BFFs, I figured with all the dr appointments I've had I want them to know so I can be out of work without question. I told my sisters today and swore them to secrecy. My parents are visiting us this weekend so we will tell them then. I think maybe tell them on Father's Day, make it as festive as you can on the phone. Even if they don't think you're ready I think they will be happy for you.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Circusbee: my bosses knew I was going through my FET cycle so they already know. Both sets of parents know, my sisters know, and my teaching assistant knows. That's it for now.
kiwi / 560 posts
@circusbee: I also don't want to tell my coworkers yet, and definitely not my boss. I'm in a strange situation where I've got this project I'm working on that could potentially run into February, and I'm worried my boss will think I'm being irresponsible by getting knocked up! So I'm waiting as long as I can to tell her, which will probably be about 10 weeks or so because I know I won't be able to hide it forever. As for your parents, I'd definitely wait for Father's Day if you can. I'm sure they will be happier than you think. I hope it turns out well
We're telling my parents this weekend too. We actually didn't want to tell them this early, but the whole family will be together anyways, and we didn't want to have to make another trip later on to tell them. Plus, if we waited until later, I know my mom would be sad that I was pregnant and didn't tell her when I saw her this weekend. We still don't know how we're telling them though...

@Circusbee: I'm flying the middle of next month when I'm 10 weeks. I never flew during my last pregnancy so no advice. I would just assume to maybe sick the pop as the caffeine will makes things worse, lots of water, and stretch your legs as much as possible? I guess exactly what your midwife said. @Circusbee: Waiting until Father's Day would be nice I wanted to wait and tell dh on father's day ( haha I couldn't even wait 3 hours until he was awake.)
I don't know when to tell work... I'm still on my first mat leave haha. When I go back to work I'll be 12 weeks...

@Circusbee: Hi! I'm lurking from the Sept 2014 thread Just wanted to tell you that I am currently in Italy which was international and 8.5 hour flight. I am 24 weeks.
I was really nervous but my OB gave me all the same advice that your MW did....water, stretch/walk at least every 2 hours and compression stockings. I did all 3 and it really wasn't bad! And the floght attendants were awesome about it. Encouraged me to get up and walk, brought me extra water and offered it every time I walked by. The compression stockings did wonders for my swelling - I had none! And I've been swelling a lot lately. I was on a 4 hour flight the week before this trip and they were huge by the end, but I didn't wear stockings that time.
Not sure how much longer your flight is than 8 hrs but mine was better than anticipated.
The worst part was getting comfy enough to nap since it was overnight flight and it was the first international flight that I flew coach in a while (I flew for business a lot and had tons of points and status. But that job is over and so are the miles
Not a lot you can do about that, but it was really the only downside. Prepreg I would have been able to curl up in my seat but knees to my chest just isn't happening these days
Good luck!

Our plan is to wait to tell our parents until after the first ultrasound (which will be on 6/30, at 7.5 weeks). We are hoping to get some pictures that day and will likely show the pictures when we tell them. I'm guessing we'll tell them sometime over the 4th of July weekend.
I ended up seeing the doctor yesterday afternoon for the hip pain I woke up with yesterday morning. I have a ruptured cyst on my right ovary. So, the pain is explained, and the good news is, this isn't a tubal pregnancy. They saw a gestational sac in my uterus, which both the doctor and the U/S tech were "excited" about (their word!), since yesterday was 4w5d. They did blood work (betas & progesterone) and I'll go back tomorrow afternoon to recheck. They said the cyst shouldn't affect the pregnancy and will resolve on its own. I'll also have another U/S when I go in tomorrow, to see if the cyst is any smaller. I'm feeling much better about everything today, and am physically feeling better, too. I had some brown spotting this morning, but it sounds like that is normal after a ruptured cyst - that fluid that they saw on the U/S yesterday has to go somewhere. So, generally trying to stay calm and praying for good numbers on the blood work!

@sweetiepie thank you! That makes me feel better. I will definitely be ordering some compression stockings. Did you get full-length maternity tights? or just knee-high socks?
