    @AnneBird: My first u/s is 6/26, and I'll be 6w3d. The RE does u/s for everyone between 6 and 7 weeks to confirm the heartbeat before transferring us to an OB.

    Although, I technically had my first u/s yesterday morning. I woke up late Friday night with very severe period-like cramping that came in waves, and lasted about 30 minutes. I figured it couldn't be normal and pretty much broke down thinking I was having another loss. No bleeding though, thankfully. I took another test the next morning and the test line was the same color as the control line, whereas just days before it had been much darker than the control. So I called the on-call doc and he was so nice and had me come in immediately and he did an u/s. Because I was only 4w5d, he said he wouldn't expect to see anything anyways, but he was just going to check. But then he saw the gestational sac and a little bean!!! They drew my blood and I'll get beta results tomorrow to make sure all is truly well.

    In true obsessed form, I took another test this morning and it was back where I expected, with the test line much darker than control. Phew!

    @swedishfish: I hope your DH gets well soon!

    @KBEE0- I'm glad to hear everything is coming back positive!

    I'm certainly nervous about a potential loss too, and its hard to balance that with all of the excitement. I couldn't find a baby countdown app with all of the big milestones, so I set about a dozen countdowns on my phone (First U/S; Second Trimester; etc) and I check them about a million times a day.

    Anyone tell their family the big news today on Father's Day? We are with the in laws al weekend but keeping quiet until we are a bit further along. But can help but to think about how telling people on Father's Day would have been sweet

  4. Circusbee

    apricot / 390 posts

    @autumn865 we did! I was really really nervous to tell them for some reason, especially my parents, but in the end they are all excited (and shocked!)

    I had a plain white onesie leftover from a baby shower project so I wrote "the best dads get promoted to grandpa" on it and showed it to my parents and in laws over FaceTime.

    I am really so glad they both know now, it was hard for me to not talk to my mom about it. And now for all the other people we tell (in time), I at least won't be as stressed over it as I was with them!

    @annebird: I check my pregnancy app many times a day as well! It updates info 1-2x per day, so I like reading new things about the baby.

    @autumn865: We told my grandparents tonight. I wasn't going to tell them until 12 weeks. We usually go over there for wine about 1-2 times a week and it was getting hard to keep saying no. We figured if we told them, they could help hide it from the extended family that we see ( aunts, uncles, etc.) We still haven't told Dh's mom. She's a little nutty, so we just haven't gotten around to it. We will probably see her Tues and tell her then. All of our other parents know, we probably won't tell many others until B's 1st bday when I will be 12 weeks.

    @Circusbee: That's nice that they know and you can tlak about it with them now! Is that the first grandchild for them?

    @Kbee: Aww that's exciting!

    @mrs. tictactoe: Yay! Congrats that's so exciting! Welcome!

    we told my husband's parents yesterday was hilarious seeing there face. We got a grandfather card for my father in law.

    I had these horrible consistent pains in my lower left abdominal area and wrapped around to my lower left back. It hurt so bad and was extremely uncomfortable thank goodness its gone this morning. There was no bleeding but damn it was painful! Has this happened to anyone else? My sister in law who is due next week said it could be ligaments growing. Just wondering if anyone experienced this was a little scary because you automatically think the worst

  12. Circusbee

    apricot / 390 posts

    @mtex14 I don't think I've had anything like that, but I do have random period-like cramps and gas pains all the time.

    Also, yesterday I started attempting to remove the wallpaper in the future nursery (there's a lot to do in there!!), and after about an hour struggle with it I had to stop because my back hurt so bad. I'm starting to realize I am going to have to make it a point to relax during this pregnancy. I'm used to just going and doing something if I think it needs to be done.

    @Mrs. TicTacToe: Congrats and welcome!!

    @mtex14: I've had a lot of strange pains too. Cramping that ranges from mild to severe, and then at other times some consistent lower abdominal and lower back pain that sticks around for an hour or so. I've been worried too, but I think if there's no bleeding then we're probably okay!

  14. mtex14

    cherry / 111 posts

    @kbee yes that sounds exactly what I had last night and lasted about an hour too! Okay, always makes me feel better when I hear ppl having the same pain I am going to the Drs tomorrow for a prenatal appt I will ask her then and report back on what she says!

    @autumn865: We did! We told all our parents this weekend. For DH mom we pulled her aside at our nephew's birthday party and DH told her we decided not to do IVF (we had signed the papers to start IVF this month when I got my BFP) and she looked all sad and asked why, and he said it was because it looks like we aren't going to need it. She screamed so loud I thought for sure the rest of the people at the party were going to come running! haha

    For my parents, they were in town visiting and wanted to go to the antique stores. We said there was one over by this one major shopping area. We went to Buy Buy Baby and parked in the expectant mother's parking and waited for them to get it. It took a few minutes but then my mom started saying "Are you really?" and I said yes and she started crying. It was great.

    @mrs. tictactoe: Welcome and congratulations!

    @mrs. tictactoe: Welcome!!! I'm so glad you're here!

    @MrsTal: Parking in the expectant mother's spot is maybe the cutest thing I've heard all day! I love that!

    We still haven't told our parents. We're planning to tell them over 4th of July weekend, after our first U/S on 6/30. I was really proud of myself for not spilling the beans to my dad yesterday (my mom is out of town). We'll celebrate Father's Day with the ILs later this week, so I'll have to try and keep my trap shut again with them. I'm excited to tell them, but like many of you, also super nervous.

    For you second-time mamas - does the anxiety lessen after you hit 12 weeks? Or does it just change? I'm handling it really well right now (especially for me - I'm a huge worry wort, and I've done GREAT so far), but I'm hopeful after we hit 12 weeks I'll be able to relax a bit more.

    @HeartAbandoned: My anxiety level went way down after 12 weeks. I knew there was obviously still risks but I didn't let myself get anxious over that part the way I was in the first tri. The second trimester is so much fun -- feeling movement, I was super comfortable and loving bring pregnant, so I just wanted to focus on that instead of milestones like viability and such.

    @Kbee: ME TOO! Nursery planning, gear, maternity wear...I want all the things! I have like 6 secret pinterest boards full of baby things that I've added just since I peed on that stick!

    Also, a big thank you to @Circusbee: (I think it was you!) who suggested the From Dude to Dad book. I picked up a copy for DH and gave it to him yesterday, and he LOVES it! He was so surprised to get a gift yesterday - it was great!

    Thanks @heartabandoned! Glad he liked it! My DH started reading it last night but he hasn't said whether or not he likes it.

    @kbee That is totally me! I am a researcher for all things, and I tend to get a bit obsessed... I'm already trying to decide between the britax b-safe or the chicco keyfit 30 for the little bean's infant seat

    @Lone Palm: Welcome and congrats!

    @Kbee: I've been researching stuff forever! I just want to buy all the things. I'm trying to hold back but it's hard. My DH wants me to research the non-fun stuff like daycare, which I am sort of blah about. I'd rather look at stollers and highchairs. Haha.

    @Circusbee: Have you played with either one? I was looking at the Chicco over the weekend and really liked it! It was light and easy to install.

    @HeartAbandoned: I think it went down slightly after 12 weeks, but I always had some level of anxiety. Then once she was born it was all, omg SIDS. I think I have more anxiety this time around. Mostly as I'm still breast feeding so I'm always worried my body can't handle breast feeding and growing a new baby. I'm pretty sure I've ready gained like 3 pounds from eating soo much!

    @MrsTal: that's so cute how you told them. That's so exciting you didn't have to start ivf.

    @Lone Palm: welcome and congrats!

    @Kbee: I've actually been pretty good about not looking into too much. I guess because I got everything with b. However with her, I spent hours and hours and hours researching every little thing!

  27. Circusbee

    apricot / 390 posts

    @mrstal I haven't... mostly because I feel like I'm not pregnant enough to be allowed in baby stores yet! Haha! I can't wait until we can go and park in the expecting mama spot and test drive strollers and car seats! So exciting

    And agreed. Daycare is boring, but I should be researching that too!

    @Circusbee: Girl, I've been in the baby stores since 3 days after my BFP! It was like YES! I can finally be in here for me instead of the 3,000 baby showers I've had to go to. You should go and just wander, it felt awesome.

    @mrs. tictactoe: @Lone Palm: Congrats and welcome!

    @MrsTal: That is such a cute announcement! Love it!

    @Kbee: I've been spending way too much time researching baby gear. I have a private Amazon wishlist with a TON of stuff on it. Plus, every time I see someone with a stroller I check it out. I even have DH doing it, he now knows all the main brands, haha.

    @Circusbee: I feel the same way going into baby stores. I feel awkward, I want to tell everyone there that I'm pregnant! Still hasn't stopped me from going in though!

    @Mrs. Tictactoe @Lone Palm: Congratulations and welcome!!!

    @CircusBee: Keep us updated on which carseat you choose... that's what I have it narrowed down to as well!

  31. Circusbee

    apricot / 390 posts

    @mrstal just for you I think I'll spend a lunch break in babies r us sometime this week @aria but I won't promise to not feel awkward!

    @mrs. Coral yeah they are both rated the highest for safety and they both seem pretty versatile as far as finding attachments for a bunch of different strollers. I'd want to see how heavy they feel and how simple they are to install and latch in and out. I have heard the chicco one might be easier in that area. But my friend has the b-safe and loves it. For strollers I'm thinking britax b-agile or the city mini... Anyone else? I think the city select is super cool, but expensive, and we aren't sure when or if we will have another... But yeah... I could probably talk about baby gear for hours. I'm definitely a researcher

  32. Tidybee

    nectarine / 2834 posts

    @Kbee: Thanks! I'm laying low so I'm not such a downer on here. @Circusbee: I really love my city mini...I've used it every single day since she was born (with the adapter of course), and DD is 19 months now. I know the Britax gets great reviews too. When I was stroller shopping, it seemed to be city mini vs. uppababy vista for most people.

  33. MrsB2012

    nectarine / 2466 posts

    @Mrs. Coral: @Tidybee: I have the britax b safe with the b ready stroller. I really like the car seat, it's super easy to install and move around. I have a Mazda 3 so it's hard to find a car seat that fits in the back but this one does. B never complains in it so I think it's comfortable for her. I like the b ready stroller, if you're planning on having a second kid in the future, id get the double over the regular so you can use it longer. Also, twice a year, britax had the b ready event where you can get a car seat or second seat adaptor with the purchase of a stroller. That's something to look out for as well.
