March 2014 Moms come in!

@ShayNanigans: I'm not doing it...I've heard of too many risks. Is there a reason they want to do that for you?

  2. futuremama

    clementine / 854 posts

@ShayNanigans: I haven't looked into all of this stuff yet, but I vaguely remember some risked associated with the CVS tests. I think we would just stick with the NT scan if we were worried about chromosomal risks. If something came back with higher odds, then we may explore further testing

Guys help! My cervix feels a little more open than normal. Am I miscarrying???

  4. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@ChattyCathy: No, I don't think so...is it high? It's pretty normal to be slightly open. I wouldn't worry about it.

  5. ChattyCathy

    cherry / 148 posts

@Dandelion: well a little lower than normal I guess. Ugh I'm freaking!

@ChattyCathy: try and relax! Are you cramping? Bleeding? Don't check too much because you don't want to get an infection.

@BLUEDIAMOND: I'm ok. Dealing with nausea about 5:15-7:00pm every day, but other than that, I feel great. I didn't have any of that last time so this is throwing me off. I feel bad for DH because he's having to pick up so much of my slack... and deal w/ a tantrumming toddler.

Had my first u/s this morning. Baby is measuring right on track at 6.5 weeks with a heartbeat of 120 bpm. So thrilled to see that little flicker. It makes all of this nausea more manageable. I just can't seem to keep my meals down. I'm going to have to start having 2:00am snacks in bed.

  10. HazelEyes

    clementine / 811 posts

    @futuremama: Yay!

I've mostly been tired. Napping around 2 or 4 and still passing out at night. Cramps that come occasionally making me double iver and then are gone. The nausea has started this week, unfortunately. Had a couple mornings of cold sweats and queasiness, but forced myself to drink and eat and feel better.

    Anyone else?

Had my appt today.... still didn't get to hear the heartbeat. We (myself & my MW) thought we heard it for a second but then it moved. boo! She did say that she has a momma here with a nearing edd though so I won't have to wait a full month before we can try again... she put me down for 2 weeks & feels really confident by then we'll be able to hear it!

@BLUEDIAMOND: Still doing pretty good! Been more fatigued this week & I feel like my brain has taken a permanent vacation, but otherwise still very minimal symptoms!

@runsyellowlites: aw too bad! were they trying with a doppler? how far along are you? hopefully next time you can hear it

@BLUEDIAMOND: I'm doing good! boobs hurt usually in the morning and evening, and i get nauseous after/during eating dinner usually. other then that I'm just sleepy.. feeling pretty good! After I eat I have MAJOR bloat though. Holy man. Yesterday we went out for dinner and I was wearing a tight maxi dress. After dinner my stomach was so big. DH thought it was hilarious!

@Mrs. Champagne: Yea. I'm 9wk 5d & since I'm not a skinny minnie I know that can make it harder.... 2 kiddos (1 gracing me with a ton of stretch marks) and I got a pudgy belly. I really thought I almost heard it though & she said everything else sounded good so eh.. maybe next time!

With P we had to wait SO long to hear her b/c the way my appts ended up.... I'm just glad my MW will be around sooner than a month from now! lol

I am so anxiously awaiting my next appointment on the 22nd! I am going to tell my boss this week and we'll kinda make it public also. If you missed the thread on how to hide my bump...you can see I am huge already!!

not feeling awesome, but not terrible. i go back to work tomorrow so i'm sure i'll be wiped out. praying i can get DS to start sleeping through the night soon as we have transitioned to 1 bottle a day of whole milk since i am pretty much drying up.

Hope everyone is doing well!! I've missed HB over the past week, we've had unreliable internet while on vacation, plus we made a deal to avoid the interwebs as much as possible and be "present" for our vacation, that and hanging out with 9 kids kept us crazy busy!

I felt great earlier last week, which made me super nervous, then started feeling crummy towards the end of the week. Just nausea so far, not vomiting Yesterday I could. not. get. off. the. couch. I slept for close to 16 hours, but we got home from our trip really late and had an incredibly active vacation, so I guess it was well earned.

I had my next appointment this morning (~8 weeks), got my pap, internal exam, cystic fibrosis carrier test (it was a 60 second mouthwash- interesting, it wasn't offered last time), and 7 tubes of blood. They didn't try the dopper this time, with C they didn't find anything until around 12 weeks.

My next appointment is September 3rd for an ultrasound and NT scan. So far we've told our immediate families and my work. I still have to tell two friends with IF about it, which I'm dreading. After that I don't really care when the rest of the world finds out, we'll do a FB post after the NT scan next month.

Hey! I'm doing pretty well! Freaking exhausted all the time (I napped on the couch from about 6-9:30 last night, barely had the energy to get up and brush my teeth, and then collapsed into bed til 630 this morning!) but other than that feeling good!
I have booked in my NT scan for the 27th of August so that's what I'm keeping my sights set on! We have one set of friends that we see pretty much every weekend and I've passed on the past 4 weeks or so of activities so I think we're going to tell them this weekend, but besides that we aren't telling anyone else (parents and a few close friends know atm) til the NT scan. I hope all is well!

6w4d here and doing good, no ms yet (knock on wood) although sometimes I feel like I'm the only one w/o it and kinda want a tad bit of it for the reassurance. Crazy, but true. My boobs are pretty sore, especially the right one lol. I'm also fairly exhausted and am definitely lounging around a bit more than usual and I've been going to bed by 9:30-10:00 most nights (early for me). Cramping has gone away for the most part, too.

Also, now through October is a really busy and crazy time for my job so work has been pretty stressful. I'm trying not to let that get me wound up, but it's hard.

First appointment is two weeks from Wednesday and I couldn't be more excited!

Hey everyone! I've been hanging around reading everyone's updates, but haven't had a lot to add (and I read from my phone a lot, and it is a pain to post from).

My first appointment is tomorrow! I'll be 8w1d...I really, really hope we will get an ultrasound and get to see the baby. I want to make sure it is growing and the heartbeat looks good. I'm not sure what to expect from my appointment. When I made the appointment I didn't get a lot of details other than I meet with the OB nurses first then I'll meet my doctor. It's with a University hospital, so I'm kinda hoping that means advanced technologies and stuff since it's a teaching hospital, but I guess we will see

I still feel nausea most mornings. Thankfully no puking yet, but I usually end up gagging several times in the shower. I'm always starving in the mornings. I usually eat 2 breakfasts, a morning snack, then lunch. It seems to get better in the afternoon, but if I don't eat in the mornings I feel sick. I'm also exhausted all the time. I wish I could sleep many more hours than I do. I work at a public library, so 2 nights a week I work from 5-8:30 and I'm always so tired when I get home...I could crash on the couch. Two new symptoms I have experienced this week have been extreme joint soreness (my knee almost went out today from the sharp pain) and shortness of breath/troubles breathing. I am super short, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue, but I get winded pretty easily and last night had issues breathing...mainly I felt like I wasn't getting good, deep breaths. Anyone else deal with this? I have illness induced asthma and I'm pretty sure my mom had to use an inhaler while pregnant with my youngest sister, so I'm definitely mentioning it to my doctor tomorrow. Hopefully she can give me some tips or a prescription to help with it.

We will be taking a trip home next week and will tell my parents and our best friends while there. I'm excited and so nervous! DH says it will feel so real tomorrow after(if) we get to see the baby!

Hope everyone else is doing well! Outside of a few issues I can't complain too much...I generally feel good!

Does anyone have any ideas how to boost energy? I am dying around mid-day and then right after dinner I am spent! The mid-day energy drain is the roughest!!! Lucky my boss (i.e. my father) is extremely forgiving in terms of me being so sleepy. I can barely get to N's bedtime, I feel like such an old lady! DH thinks it is funny.

The morning sickness is a little better this week. I have finally been able to step back down from 8mg to 4 mg of Zofran. I am also not wearing the psy bands anymore. I am happy to say that I have only had one bad day in terms of getting sick. N and my furry children where there and very interested in what I was doing. DH was at work and I had no help.

Anyone going to see Disney's Planes? DH is so excited about it, he keeps telling me that we are going on Friday when he gets out of work.

@MrsRcCar: not sure if these will help, but this is what works for me. I'll take a 15-20 min nap at lunch, listen to music on headphones (I have a desk job) or drink a little Starbucks coffee if nothing else works. Oh, and believe it or not, working out seems to give me an energy burst to last through most of the day (bonus, it also wards off the MS).

Hope you get some relief - remember, the 2nd trimester is right around the corner!

@debbiei8: Hey - just to let you know, in case your doctor is like mine, when I had an appointment at 8w1d she didn't refer me for a scan. She said if I was really desperate she would, but that she cautions women against getting them early. At first I was really upset, but most of my friends are in the medical field (a few of them OBs) and many of them told me that actually early scans can often give false hope - in most uncomplicated pregnancies the biggest risk of miscarriage doesn't pass until 12/13 weeks - so if you get a scan at 7, 8, 9 weeks or whatever and see the heartbeat, it can make it much more difficult to deal with if a loss is discovered at the the NT scan. Not that it would EVER be easy to deal with a loss, of course, thats not at all what I'm saying, but just that a lot of docs/OBs recommend waiting until the 12 weeks because that is the first major hurdle.

I'm writing this out mostly because I've had a big attitude adjustment about it - from being upset and frustrated with my doctor for not referring me for a scan, to trying my best to be positive about this pregnancy even though I have virtually no reassurance that things are going well! I've had little to no morning sickness so very little to go on there.

Anyway just some food for thought and certainly not saying people shouldn't have early scans (in fact I'm hella jealous of all of you who have!!!!!), just a new perspective for me that I'm sharing!

Sad day yesterday! So I went in for my 9.5 week ultrasound, and found out that this pregnancy is a no go. There was a chromosomal defect that kept the baby from developing very far. So this won't be happening! I'm on meds now to induce final miscarriage. Stuff like this just happens, unfortunately! We're disappointed, but it is what it is, you know?

So I guess I will respectfully differ from scarletbegonia's thought above me! I wish we would have had a 6 week prelim ultrasound, as then I wouldn't have thought everything was all great for the past month. I'd always rather know the truth, close to when the truth is available, rather than think all's great, when it isn't.:/ Anywho - thanks ladies! Hope to be back around soon.

@shaynanigans I'm so sorry to hear this...I hope you are doing ok!

I ended up having a bedside ultrasound and the doctor said the heartbeat was really strong and looked great. She also said my cervix is very closed and uterus feels how it should, so it sounds like things are going well. I saw little arms almost right away, which was really cool to see. There was some dating confusion. One view put me at 7w4d but the profile view put the baby at 8w5d. I thought I was 8w1d today. The doctor also said the baby was moving more than it would at 8 weeks normally, so she thinks I might be closer to 9w. I do have a shorter luteal phase (around 11 days I think) so that could be part of the dating confusion.

I was also presented with a new type of prenatal care and decided to sign up for it. It's called CenteringPregnancy care and it is one on one doctor care along with a support group of 8-12 other pregnant women. We meet once a month and will have various classes combined with regular prenatal care. I'm really excited about it, it sounds great for a FTM looking for as much info as possible

How's everyone feeling lately? I'm feeling pretty ok lately. Well besides the bloating and 24/7 nausea. Cervix has returned to its upright position so I'm assuming it's ok... And I've stopped checking for the moment. At least til my appointment August 23 (12 weeks). Anyways just curious how everyone else is doing. I kind of keep checking the feb due date boards to see when they start feeling better so hopefully I know when my morning sickness could possibly end.

Anyone have any appointments coming up? I can't keep track!

@ScarletBegonia: This is the first pregnancy I've had any bit of morning sickness. With DS and S I had none. Not crazy about the fact that this one is making me feel nauseated already!
