@ScarletBegonia: my NT scan is also on the 27th! According to my dates I would be 11 weeks, but according to the ultrasound we had yesterday, baby might be closer to 9 weeks now, which would put it closer to 12 at that time. My doctor said we would look at the size again next time and maybe talk about changing my due date (although she said it's more like a due week anyways and the ultrasound gave a range of 10 days).

And although I've avoided it so far I just threw up. It was terrible and I hope it was a one time thing....the weird thing is I felt fine before hand and then boom out of nowhere I'm running to the bathroom.
My dog is very concerned about me now...it's pretty cute.

@debbiei8: my dog is always so sad when I get sick. It's so sweet. Of course, he likes to drink out of the toilet bowl, so maybe he just thinks I'm stealing his water
persimmon / 1198 posts
@futuremama haha my dog has freaked out when I've gotten sick in the past. He also gets upset anytime I gag. I think he was even more worked up because DH is out of town for a conference. He was on edge all last night especially.

I have my first midwife appointment on Monday! I've been researching them a lot (midwives in general in my province) and I think that's the way we are leaning! We had our ultrasound done at the hospital, and DH are I are both so weirded out by hospitals... we couldn't imagine going to that specific one to have our baby. There is another hospital that has a birthing center attached that we will probably go to! Assuming I don't become high risk or anything!
I really hope they can hear the heart beat or can do an ultra sound on Monday, because 5 days later we are telling our family we are pregnant and I'd really like to make sure everything is still ok!
I'm feeling okay... this morning I had to lie on the bathroom floor eating a piece of bread though.. ah! My morning sickness is actually in the morning it seems!
Hope everyone is feeling ok!

I don't know if I'm 6.5 or 7.5 weeks, but the morning sickness is starting to show at all times of the day. I got called into a mini-meeting at work today and I thought I was going to throw up the whole time. Right after I got out, I bolted to my desk (conveniently right next to the mini-fridge) and ate the cheese cubes I was saving for this afternoon.
My hunger has been out of control today as well.
I've had:
- 1 scrambled egg w/ salsa
- 1/2 peanut butter sandwich
- 1 peach
- 7 cheese cubes
- Roast beef sandwich
- Taco Bell Meximelt
- Taco Bell Fresco soft taco
**The taco bell was a last minute thing while I was running errands at lunch... starving, again
If this keeps up, I'm going to be a blimp by my 2nd trimester....
ETA: I tracked all of my calories into MyFitnessPal, and with the exercise (414 calories) I did this morning, I still have 786 calories to consume. Whew!

Ugh I'm having a bad day.
I noticed a small milk blister a little over a week ago & since it wasn't hurting I didn't think too much of it. It was protruding, but I peeled the skin back a few times & tried clearing it... it got super small so I thought it was going away... WRONG! This morning I woke up with almost the whole top portion of my breast hard from it being plugged! I've already taken a super hot shower while massaging it (still massaging it almost constantly), done a dangle feeding session, nursed from that side all morning, and pumped TWICE (~10 minutes each time) on the highest setting & it's still there & still super hard!
I had a ton of things to do today around here & now I'm stuck resting, hydrating, and trying to get this unplugged so it doesn't get worse or get infected! I wanna cry! Boo!!!!
Oddly enough I've still had minimal symptoms & kinda wish I was feel nauseous over having my boob throb & be hard! lol

@runsyellowlites: Boo! So sorry. I don't have any BF experience (yet!) so no words of advice, but that sounds terrible! I hope it starts to feel better asap.
I'm also minimal on the symptoms and kinda wish I had a bit more. Mostly just really sore boobs and lotsa hunger. Cramping has gone away for the most part.
@BabyBoecksMom: OMG the hunger pangs!! Also, Taco Bell sounds amazing right now!

@futuremama: @dandelion: @bao: we should have a running list with appointments and how far along we are or something! I hope everyone starts feeling better soon.
@BabyBoecksMom: Oh man, I have the hunger pains too. It's so bad! I should exercise so I can eat more lol.
@runsyellowlites: Oh no! That sounds so miserable!!!
So I keep freaking up when I wake up and don't feel any symptoms. Then I start googling like mad from my phone in bed. Then finally get up and that's when the nausea hits. I don't know why I keep thinking my symptoms are missing. Ugh!
Also if anyone can give me some advice please! So I called the birthing center today and apparently they only do ultrasounds on Mondays from 1-3pm... And I have all the next Mondays tied up til October 7. I would be 18.5 weeks at that point. Buti don't know how far I really am do I wanted an ultrasound and to make sure everything is ok. Ugh I don't know what to do! I don't think my anxiety can wait any longer for an ultrasound but it looks like I don't have a choice.

Does anyone know how far along you have to be to hear a heartbeat on the Doppler? And if I heard a heartbeat on that would I hopefully be ok til 18.5 weeks?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@ChattyCathy: I agree!! I'm probably not the best one for the job though
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@ChattyCathy: I heard A's heartbeat at 13 weeks but not sure if I could hear it before that. I was paranoid between appointments so I bought my own Doppler.
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
@ChattyCathy: With my first I was getting doppler'd every month from 8 weeks on and OB found the heartbeat no problem.
I had a fail day yesterday ladies... epic fail.
I ran out on my lunch to grab a few things from Walmart, and while I was there I bought some candy 'for my candy dish at my desk'. Right. For the dish. So I ate half a dish of Fuzzy Peaches, then had such a belly ache for the rest of the day I skipped dinner!!
@runsyellowlites: I hope your plug clears up soon!!!! Eeep, not fun!
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: I've got my first MW appt next Wednesday and I'm really hoping she can get a hearbeat too. I had an OB last time but am really looking forward to MW care this time around.

@prettylizy: oh she heard at 8 weeks last time? Ill be almost 9 weeks on Monday so I hope they can hear it! Also did you see I posted on your wall
cherry / 148 posts
@Bao: hahaha me either! Where do you buy a Doppler?
@prettylizy: Hahahah! Sorry I'm laughing. I need a candy dish at home for ummm guests... Ya guests.
coconut / 8305 posts
@fussygal: @ChattyCathy: @prettylizy: Thanks ladies! I feel so freaking discouraged! At this point I've tried pretty much everything (even using a "toy" to try & massage it to loosen it up.... a suggestion from an LC friend) and it's not getting better! I feel like it's just going to be something that I'm going to have to really work against! I'm currently sitting on the couch with a heating pad on my boob!
@ChattyCathy: I only get one u/s at 20ish weeks. I think once you hear the heartbeat you'll feel better! We tried at 9+6 but had no luck... we're trying again in 2 week!
And I think I may start a list that includes our upcoming appts! See if I can keep up... I know with P we had a google doc that each of us could go in & edit... someone else did that though so I am not really all that savvy to make. lol
@prettylizy: I've done the same a couple times eating junk & then getting sick. boo! It's so hard to have self control! lol
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@ChattyCathy: I got it off eBay. It was around $50 but was nice for peace of mind.
persimmon / 1198 posts
@chattycathy at my appointment yesterday my doctor said she didn't think she'd be able to find the heartbeat with a Doppler (I was 8w1d) so she did a bedside ultrasound with a portable ultrasound machine. She did it that way so it wouldn't count towards my ultrasound count. It was pretty awesome to see the heartbeat, but we never got to hear it.
Maybe they will have smaller portable ultrasounds to check at your first appointment? They didn't really consider this a full ultrasound I guess. And I don't think it was as good of quality as the one I'll have for my NT scan if all that makes sense?
cherry / 148 posts
@runsyellowlites: @debbiei8: So I called back and asked if my first ultrasound being at 18.5 weeks would be ok and she said they wouldn't be able to give me a dating scan that far along. Since I don't know how far along I really am. So I'm not really sure what's the latest I can have a dating ultrasound. I go in next Thursday so I'm going to ask more questions and stuff. This stuff is so complicated!
coconut / 8305 posts
@ChattyCathy: I remember you saying you weren't sure about your dates.... where your cycles wonky?
I think considering you were testing & it wasn't one of those things that your period was way late so you finally tested that it's be relatively "safe" to pin conception & 2 weeks prior to your positive test... even if your cycle was long.
That's partly how we know my date.... if I had O'd when I "should have" I would've been 20 dpo when I got my positive, highly unlikely so I took note of some second O symptoms & that was 13 days before my bfp. Works for us! lol
cherry / 148 posts
@runsyellowlites: my cycles have always been crazy but the last cycle was 34 days (the most normal yet) and then my period started may 30 and I got a positive test July 6... So I'm really not sure how far along I am. I guess I can be 6-10 weeks... Hopefully not 6!
cherry / 148 posts
@runsyellowlites: tmi but I'm pretty sure we could have conceptionized June 14 on our trip... But then again it could have been a week later.... Ugh!
coconut / 8305 posts
@ChattyCathy: Since you were testing pretty consistently I would just count 2 weeks before the 6th for your conception. It's really unlikely that you would've gotten all those negatives at 15+ dpo... Or see if they can get you in just for an u/s to get a more accurate date. FWIW I would take the later edd over an earlier one.... I like as much time as possible before having to deal with interventions!

Ok so I got my first ultrasound August 26!!!! And now I'm worried that I have to drink 32 ounces of water a half hour before the appointment. I'm not sure how my bladder is going to take that!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@ChattyCathy: Why do you need to drink? If you're far enough along, they'll be able to see the baby...I've only heard that being something you need to do when they're ultrasounding (made up that word, lol) you when not pregnant. I don't really think you need to drink that much.
coconut / 8483 posts
@ChattyCathy: I had to drink 3 glasses of water within the hour and a half before my US. She was like "wow your bladder is full!" and then let me pee part way through so she could actually push harder without causing me to pee my pants!! When I scheduled it they told me that if I am drinking and start to have to pee, stop drinking, thats enough!
cherry / 148 posts
@Dandelion: I am not sure, it is a dating ultrasound so does that make a difference? I am pretty sure I have never in my life had an ultrasound. But I have never in my life had to drink 32 ounces of water and try and hold it. I am just imagining my tiny bladder exploding while they are doing the ultrasound and my husband trying to back out of this pregnancy thing.
@Mrs. Champagne: I have one of those hospital mugs that holds 32 ounces and halfway through I have to pee. Should I just try and pace myself or something? Ugh why am I stressing about this so much?
persimmon / 1198 posts
@chattycathy I did not drink a lot of water before my ultrasound (my ultrasound was like 2 hours after my appointment first started, so I didn't really drink anything before it). In fact, I had given a urine sample before my ultrasound. We had no problem seeing the baby, it popped up right away!
My doctor actually said I should use the bathroom before she started if I needed to. I didn't at first but after I got ready we had to wait a bit for the machine and I started to feel like I needed to pee. I'm glad my bladder wasn't full though because she was pressing around and also checked my cervix and uterus. I'm sure if I really had to go it wouldn't have been pretty. I would just suggest drinking your normal amount.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@ChattyCathy: I had my ER ultrasound at 6 weeks (could have been less) and they had me empty my bladder before...I'm having on next week and I wasn't told to drink water. I had a different OB in the beginning of my last pregnancy and they never told me to drink water either. I think you will be fine, just drink normally.
persimmon / 1198 posts
I feel like I've finally hit the point I want to tell EVERYONE about my pregnancy, but I know it's still a little too early. Before my appointment/seeing the baby I was ok with keeping the secret, but today I spent most of the day trying to convince myself not to tell work. We are telling my parents, our best friends and my cousin next week. Hopefully that will keep me satisfied for a bit
I'm actually thinking about telling work/the family I nanny for around 10 or 11 weeks. I have 2 appointments coming up that I need to give a little bit of notice about. And since my centering appointments will be monthly, I think it's only fair to warn the person I nanny for that I will need 2 hours off for those appointments.
It also doesn't help that my skin looks terrible and I feel like a whale so I want to be able to tell people it's because I'm pregnant not because I'm just giving up on my health!

I was looking for the post where everyone was sharing their pregnancy announcements but I couldn't find it. Here's what we'll be posting after my appt on Tuesday. (The 2nd picture is blurry, but it's the only one where you can read all of the words - she started smearing everything as soon as her hand got to it)
What did you do for our announcement?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: that's so cute! We just had family pics Sunday and she did a chalkboard that said big sis. I haven't seen them yet though. I'm hoping to wait as long as possible to announce. We will see though
watermelon / 14206 posts
I'm not doing any formal announcement. We'll tell our parents and siblings, but I'm not doing a big tada...maybe after the anatomy scan or something.
Honestly, even though I generally don't care what people think, I'm sure people will have comments about me getting pregnant so soon after losing S. I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear how worried they'll be for me, how I have something to really fear with this pregnancy. I'll already hear it too much from my MIL and I KNOW that I have a reason to be worried. I just don't want a constant reminder. I've half tempted just to post a birth announcement at the end instead of dealing with all of that.
