@HazelEyes: Happy Labor Day! It's actually a holiday for us up here too You would still be 10 weeks until 10+7 which is 11 weeks. I took my first belly pic at 11 weeks and am thinking of doing another one today too.I really like this site for tracking days: http://www.pregnology.com/faralong.php?month=3&day=01&year=2014

@Mrsjets: oh yay! I didnt want to rub it in that we had a holiday, haha Long weekends are the best little gifts :). And thanks. I got confused bc I saw someone else's pics and they had 11 weeks being like the size of a lime, which is what I read is what I have now. And sometimes you see both numbers for the same week.

Besides the absurd fatigue I haven't been feeling very pregnant lately.. Until Saturday. Oi. I woke up w a nasty cramp low and to the left that wrapped around to my back. Like I had weeks ago that I attributed to my uterus growing. Then I tried to eat breakfast, barely got through anything and felt lightheaded, dizzy and got the cold sweats. Gross. I haven't felt these things for weeks! Like at week 7. So it was a very mixed feeling of, oh wow symptoms that im still pregnant! and oh man why now/is that ok/is something wrong?
Anyone else have mysteriously reappearing symptoms after nothing for a long stretch?

@Mrsjets: thanks for always updating the list, it's so helpful! Not to speak on her behalf but I think shaynanagins didn't want to be a part of the list anymore...but maybe I misunderstood what she was asking? Idk just throwing that out there

@Mrsjets: @Bao: oh yes good catch. i think norcalwayfarer wanted off of it too!

I think you are right @bao...I think norcalwayfarer expressed a similar sentiment.
I haven't updated in a while, but we had our NT scan last Tuesday. It was so awesome to see the baby! Everything looked great! We even got to see baby bust out some dance moves (as DH says) and do a couple back flips. The worst part of the ultrasound was that baby would not sit still for the measurements and the tech had to keep pressing really hard on my abdomen. Not sure how normal that is but I was really sore all day because of it! My doctor also listened to the heartbeat but couldn't get baby to sit still long enough to count the beats! It kept kicking the doppler thing and she was laughing. She told us she had never seen as active of a baby at 11 weeks...then she said I'm guessing it's an active boy. We will see at the end of October!
It was pretty awesome to see baby look like an actual baby...and it waved at us on the screen!
We also did an announcement on Facebook yesterday. I'm 12 weeks today. I know not everyone was sure about doing big announcements, but it was a big deal to us. I was so nervous hitting post! Our secret is out We have a sort of temporary living situation in our current state while DH gets his Ph.D. So our family and friends all live about 4 (or more) hours away. Facebook is one of the ways we stay in touch. We did tell our parents, and best friends in person a couple weeks ago, and I sent an email to my extended family before posting on Facebook. I wish we could have told everyone we know in person, but at least the internet makes people a little closer to us!
Hope everyone starts feeling great soon! It was SO hot here last week, so I felt like crap all week. Plus I think I over worked myself the weekend before. It will be cooler this week, so hopefully I'll start to feel better. I felt great before last weekend, so who knows!
Here's a pic of baby!

@matador84: ha! Your due date is all over!
@debbiei8: love the pic! Crazy how active your little one is, I bet boy too. My first was crazy inside me and he's crazy in the outside world now too!
persimmon / 1198 posts
@Mrsjets: we joke about it being a crazy little boy...I watch a 4 year old that was crazy in utero and is a crazy little boy in the outside world now. But he's also the sweetest little boy in the world, so it's probably worth the trade off

Today is Dh and my anniversary and we have an appointment to hopefully hear the heartbeat on Doppler. They called to say they would need to reschedule my appointment because my doctor had to perform emergency surgery. I almost cried, Dh is off from work and I took a half day just to make this appointment and they call to reschedule. I tried to get on the other doctors schedule today but no luck. Her office said that I can come in still I am just have to wait. Mind you the last time I had an appointment I still waited 2.5 hours with no emergency surgeries. Dh and I are going to camp at her office. I guess I am just complaining but way to ruin my day. I have been looking forward to this appointment since the last one. /rant

@MrsRcCar: Awww that's crappy! I'm sorry I think I would cry, too. And I can't believe you waited 2.5 HOURS last time - that's insane!!! Hugs to you and I hope you get to see/hear that heartbeat soon.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I've been able to find baby's heartbeat since 10.5 weeks very easily at home! I'm so excited I've only checked twice so far bc I don't want to do it too much, but it's so reassuring.

For the people who are team green... did you still get a ultrasound at 20 weeks? I'm debating what to do. I had a ultrasound at 10w4d to date the baby but the birthing center usually does just one ultrasound at 20 weeks. I do want a ultrasound before I announce though but at the birthing center each ultrasound is $160. So I looked at the website for a local boutique ultrasound place. Here are the prices:
$29 - Fetal Heartbeat & Movements
8-40 weeks
$ 49 - Pregnancy Verification
8-14 weeks
No sex determination
Four 2-D photos & 3 min. DVD
$ 65 - Gender Determination
Five 2-D photos
$ 85 - First Visit Package
Fetal Sex
DVD-R & CD-R
Five 2-D photos
$125 - Level 1 Study in 2-D
First Visit Package
Estimated measurements, heartbeat, position & Report
So what would you guys do? Get a ultrasound at the birthing center but not find out gender and pay $160? Or pick one of these other packages at the boutique?

@MrsRcCar: oh that sucks! but happy anniversary!
I'm feeling good.. 12 weeks today!! I felt a little "pressure" I think.. I'm really bad at describing what I'm feeling/being in tune with what's going on. I called my midwife just in case, and she said that it's normal usually. She said to come do a urine test tmrw to rule out a UTI. She said since I'm not cramping or bleeding everything is probably fine.
Did anyone else have this? I'm such a worrier

We did get in to see the doctor this afternoon. She was nice this time and seemed to apologetic about keeping us. She did shame me a little though because I have lost 10 pounds since my last appointment (which I already knew). She was able to find he heartbeat fairly quick. It sounded great at 160. So I guess my day is back on track. Dh, N, and I are headed to the Michigan Renfest this weekend. I am pretty excited about it. We are hoping to meet up with some friends while we are there.

@ChattyCathy: don't you have to get the ultrasound at 20 weeks? I always just assumed....
cherry / 148 posts
@Bao: Hmmm I don't even know? I thought it was just for gender stuff?
coconut / 8483 posts
@ChattyCathy: My midwife recommended we get the scan at some point between 18-20 weeks. It's not mandatory, but she highly recommends it to ensure everything is progressing.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@ChattyCathy: no we were team green (before it got ruined) and they did a ton of measurements, checked brain, heart, etc to make sure baby was healthy. Everyone I know who was team green still had it done to check baby's progress.

@Mrs. Champagne: @Bao: Good to know! NOw a different question. Do you think making the ultrasound appointment would be ok to be made 19weeks4days so that we can announce on Halloween at 20 weeks? The ultrasounds can only be done on Mondays and Halloween is a Thursday
coconut / 8483 posts
@anonysquire: mine is at 19 weeks 2 days so I'm sure that's fine!

Anyone else feeling like their bump is growing?
Last week was the first time I really felt "bigger" and noticed a teensy bit more of a bump than the usually little tummy I have. DH also said he noticed a little bit I'm eager to have a real, big bump!
I bought a Bella Band and it's alright, though if I sit for long the back of my pants go below the band and hangs out (annoying). I tried the hair-tie trick but it just felt so insecure - I was afraid my pants would fall down - lol. Might breakdown and buy real maternity pants soon!

@anonysquire: Good disguise!
@fussygal: I'm finally feeling "bumpish." I can feel it, but no one looking at me would guess I'm pregnant.

@anonysquire: ha glad you don't have to hide anymore! I also think the anatomy scan with measurements happens in and around 20 weeks so make sure to ask your mw. It's actually the only u/s I am booked for unless something out of ordinary happens. I hope hope hope baby cooperates and we can see the sex! It's 6 weeks away and seems like forever! We also did an elective 3D u/s at 29 weeks at a boutique with our families last time and will probably do it again this go round. It was an amazing experience
@fussygal: yes! My clothes suck right now my maternity pants from last time are too big and my regular pants are super uncomfortable. I'm hanging out in yoga pants most of the time...

We had the NT scan today- it was amazing!!
Let me preface this by saying that I've been going crazy the past day with what my husband calls "Pregnancy Psychosis." I've been feeling the baby wiggle for the past few weeks, but Sunday night had horrible round ligament pain and felt like the baby had moved up (which is normal per one of my preg apps). But then I stopped feeling the baby, and have been super nervous since. Obsessively checking tp, laying down after having orange juice searching for kicks, I have been a total nut.
After waiting allllllll day not being able to think of anything else, my husband met me and C at the appointment and we saw a nice strong heartbeat (158) and a little dancing critter-person that now looks more human than sea horse! It was sucking on fingers and yawning, so beyond awesome! I did a blood draw and had a super quick appointment where they read off my blood work from last time. I felt like the appointment was a waste of time, doc asked how I felt, I told him total crap, and he said it's supposed to be over by now. Whatever, I had it until 20 weeks with C.
Best part of all, the ultrasound tech found what looks like an extra appendage, so we are tentatively Team Blue!!! She said it's too early to call it 100% yet, but it just kept showing up... My husband says that having two boys is his reward for working at a job that is 90% women

@lemondrop: what the heck? They could see at 12 weeks what it was? Mine at 10w4d looked like a little blob with arms and legs but wasn't close up like that. I know nothing about ultrasounds. But congrats on your appointment going well and hope you start feeling better soon!!!!
bananas / 9118 posts
@anonysquire: a.k.a. anonycathy lol, they really start to look like something quickly! She was super zoomed in so she could take the neck measurements. Yeah, last time at 10 weeks C looked like a gummy bear still!
Last time we found out at 15 weeks... of course it helps when you are looking for extra parts that stick out a little
I definitely recommend that 20 week scan, they reallllllly look like an actual baby then (last time mine was at 19 weeks and they could see what they needed just fine)
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@lemondrop: lol anonycathy has a ring to it! I am definately going to get the 20 week ultrasound, you guys all convinced me!

I definitely have a belly now! I've switched to mostly stretchy clothes now, and just bought 3 new maxi dresses (not looking forward to summer in Oz while pregnant!) which i plan to live in from now on! We've gotten the low-risk confirmation from the ultrasound clinic, so now its just a waiting game until 20 weeks. I've told a lot more people, including lots of people at work. I'm waiting to find out about a promotion at work that is pretty sticky...it would start in Feb 2014, which is basically when i would start mat leave. My supervisor advised me to disclose my pregnancy in the application process, even though I didn't legally have to, but now I'm starting to regret it I'm worried that I've ruined my chances. I know its illegal for them to use my pregnancy as a reason not to promote me, but I know that they can find a valid excuse if they want to. Grr. This is frustrating.
