@MrsRcCar: wow that would bug me! Yeah we'll see how this baby turns out! What does she think vegans do?

@Dandelion: I am not sure. There are a lot of doctors and NP in that group, so I just took myself off her service. She was not happy that for medical reason I don't eat Dairy, Eggs, or Any Gluten. She is extremely close minded and old school. I miss my other OB/GYN, too bad he is 2 hours away...

@Mrsjets: Oh that is horrible! Have you been sick the whole time?
@MrsRcCar: That is so rude! I'm glad you can take yourself away from her.

I think I am craving toast and fried eggs. I had them last night for dinner and again for lunch today and want them for dinner again. Yum!

@MrsRcCar: Sorry about the house The right one will come along! I'm worried about gaining weight, too. So far I haven't gained or lost anything (although I do have a belly) and I'm curious what my doctor says this week...
@Mrsjets: Oh no! Sorry you got sick, but glad you took a bit of time to recover. Driving while sick is the worst!

I'm 17 weeks today and the major bloatage has come back. Is this the case for anyone else? I feel like on willy wonky when she blows up like a blueberry.

@anonysquire: I feel a little bloaty after meals! It's thanksgiving here this weekend so I'm sure I'll look huge after all three meals we are going to!

@mrsrccar: @anonysquire: @fussygal: thanks guys, I was a little sick in the first tri but it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure why it randomly happened now but I hope it was a one time thing! I actually had much more morning sickness with my first so I shouldn't complain
@anonysquire: now I'm wanting a toasted fried egg sandwich! Yum!
@mrs. champagne: Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so excited for the delicious meals!
@mrsrccar: oh I just saw you're having another boy! Yay! Congrats! I'm so curious to know the gender, another boy would be so convenient...6 days until we know!

Ugh...the heartburn is already starting! S had tons of hair, and I had tons of heartburn with her. I blame my husband...his hair grows like mad, lol.
I didn't miss this part, lol.

@Dandelion: oh no! that sucks! i have none - maybe my babe will be bald!

@Mrs. Champagne: Happy Thanksgiving! That is by FAR my favorite holiday. mmm
So I had my 16 week appt today. DH didn't come bc I wasn't supposed to have an u/s, but ended up having one! The doc couldn't find the HB on the doppler, so snuck me in. Apparently I have an anterior placenta, so it was blocking the sound (and means I prob won't feel kicks until 20-22 weeks, grr). But everything looks great, strong HB, saw a little backbone, and Baby looks much more defined than last month Sad DH missed it, but he'll be there for the 20 week.
Also, I was super worried about weight, but was totally ok. Only gained two lbs (!) so only up one from my initial appt. Didn't expect that

@Dandelion: Sorry about your Heartburn! I had it bad at the end with N. Hopefully you can find relief soon.
@Mrs. Champagne: Enjoy your Thanksgiving! I am looking forward to ours!
@HazelEyes: It must have been scary to not find it on Doppler at first. I am glad that the doctor could sneak you in for an ultrasound so you could see your LO. Did they print you some pictures to show DH? The 20 week ultrasound is completely amazing to see. I am looking forward to mine on the 28th. Are you finding out the sex of your baby?
I am gonna whine for a minute. I wanted a salad with just lettuce, tomato, ham, and turkey. At work we don't have anything to make it with. Plus I can't eat what they do have for lunch. I know I should have packed my lunch. I guess Chips and soda for lunch for now. Why is salad difficult to handle? /rant

Hi everyone!
I have my 19 week scan next wednesday, I've got the usual fears about hearing the heartbeat and all that but I am pretty excited as well! We are team green so we won't be finding out the gender, but still excited to see the little thing again.
Unfortunately our kitten got quite sick last night and she's under observation at the vet now, but it was so scary to see how quickly she went down hill, she's such a tiny little thing. Made me very worried about dealing with a sick baby!

@HazelEyes: I had an anterior placenta last time, we went through that so often at appointments, very scary until you get that little heart beat. I still felt plenty of kicks once I hit 20+ weeks, so don't feel like you will miss out on them for much longer
I have a posterior placenta this time, and I am stunned every time at how fast they are finding the heart beat. We have started calling this one our well behaved son
@Dandelion: lol, I've had tons of heartburn, and did last time too... C was a baldy for the first 15 months!
@MrsRcCar: that is ridiculous- glad you can avoid her! My current doc rolled his eyes at me when I told him I'm still having morning sickness, I've lost less than last time and am up a few pounds so I'm happy.
clementine / 811 posts
@MrsRcCar: I surprisingly wasn't that nervous that he couldn't find the heartbeat, I think bc I had heard other mammas who had trouble with the Doppler. That being said it was really great to hear the HB once they did the u/s. And yes, I did get some pics to show DH, so that made me feel a little better about him missing it.
@lemondrop: Thats good to hear! I"m excited to start feeling the little Bean, and I'll be jealous when everyone else does, and I don't!
pear / 1699 posts
@Dandelion: ugh I'm so dreading the heartburn! I didn't get it until the beginning of the third tri last time but ended up needing to use meds to control it. I feel so bad for you!
@HazelEyes: so happy baby is perfect! I would have been so panicked!
@ScarletBegonia: oh no, I hope you kitty is ok! Update?

@Mrs. Champagne: Oh yum! I am dreaming so hard about Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
@Dandelion: I have had horrible heartburn daily as well. Its so uncomfortable. This baby better have a full head of hair and a duck dynasty beard. And maybe chest hair if its a boy.
bananas / 9118 posts
@anonysquire: bwahahahahahaha regarding the body hair, I'm going to have to borrow that one! My heartburn is off the wall today, but that's pretty typical, I have to take a Prilosec every few days just to survive- exactly like last time.
I had a totally normal appetite today, so I ate the crap out of a Jersey Mike's Club Sub. It was glorious! I may go for another tomorrow if I still feel good (now I'm being way too optimistic). I'm still having major Jimmy John's aversions, which makes me sad since it's usually my favorite.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@lemondrop: I will have to try the Prilosec, what I have is just not cutting it. Well sometimes it does but I just feel crappy. Idk lol.
And I love Jimmy johns. Sad you are having an aversion
bananas / 9118 posts
@anonysquire: definitely check with your doc/midwife first- it's not exactly ideal to take while pregnant, and they had me try several others first last time, but this worked and the doctor wasn't happy that I was popping Tums every 10 minutes, this way I only take something every 3-4 days. I've really tried hard to wait as long as possible before starting it again, but second trimester worries me a lot less.

@anonysquire: the whole time with S I joked about her having hair lile rapunzel lol. It was about 2 inches long. I have a nice lock of it in my memory box. Dh's hair grows like crazy so I know that was his genes lol

I had extremely severe heartburn with my first. I just took something OTC my dr said was ok. It somewhat helped but the gerd was so bad I was throwing up and choking in the middle of the night. This pregnancy has been soooooo different! Occasionally I have a heartburn flare up, but really no symptoms. My bump is huge and I'm starting to get tired but that's all.
We find out Monday boy or girl!!

@matador84: Can't wait to find out what you are having! It never gets old.
DH got to feel our LO kick last night. It is so much earlier then last time! (18 weeks on the nose). Last time he didn't get to feel kicks until 22 weeks. I have been feeling more kicks lately, which makes me feel a lot better. The little kicks are so reassuring that everything is ok.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@lemondrop: ok I will. I'm on a OTC relief thing right now and tums as needed but I will ask if there is something else because sometimes all that doesn't cut it.
@Dandelion: My husbands hair seems to grow like crazy, I think? If he doesn't shave his beard for like one day it's a bush. I love that s's hair was 2 inches though. So cool you have that lock.
@matador84: So exciting!
@MrsRcCar: Still holding out for my kicks! Starting to think my baby has no limbs and that is why I can't feel anything. I love that your DH felt them thou!!

@anonysquire: zantac works pretty good and is safe to take in pregmancy.

@ScarletBegonia: Oh, I hope kitty is okay!!
I've had just a tiny bit of heartburn and it was so annoying, I can't imagine having heartburn as bad as some of you ladies! I'm a wuss.
It's been forever since I updated on this thread, but we had our 16 week appointment on Friday and got to hear the HB again and we could hear the baby moving (sounded like little swishes) - so cool! Doctor said baby was very active my mom came this time since DH couldn't get off work. I'm glad she got to hear the HB
Ultrasound is set for the 8th! Can't wait!

I'm considering not taking any prenatal classes. Am I crazy? I've been reading books for almost a year on birth and pregnancy and natural childbirth and all that jazz. I know I'm no expert but I don't feel like paying 150 since my birthing center doesn't offer classes.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@anonysquire: I've never taken classes. I didn't even take the free ones offered last time, because DH's schedule just wasn't good for it. My midwife with S tried to convince me to take a breastfeeding course, but I nursed DS until he was 15 months and I felt that I didn't really forget anything. I wouldn't pay for the classes.
But, if your DH is nervous about it, it might be a good thing. Since he's probably not reading a ton of books (maybe he is, though, most guys don't), it might be good for him to be there.

Anatomy scan went well! Go over it with my dr on Thursday. My placenta is anterior which is why I haven't felt the baby move, but I think it was anterior with my first too. It's a girl here!!

I haven't been keeping up on this thread (or the boards, for that matter) because work has me super busy right now. I'm trying to catch up!
So sorry to all the ladies having heartburn so early. I didn't get it until the 3rd trimester last time, but it's not fun at any point.
@matador84: congrats! Another girl for March

@anonysquire: I did a TON of reading and research but still loved the classes I took. I didn't go through the local health unit/hospital but took a class offered by a local doula/certified pre-natal educator. It focused on natural birth (which was my goal) and I walked away feeling so so so much more confident with my body and super empowered. DH didn't do much reading at all and walked away so much more informed and prepared to support me through our natural labour and delivery.
@MrsRcCar: Totally adorable!!!!!!
apricot / 253 posts
@prettylizy: I just started taking a Bradley Method class - it sort of sounds a bit like the classes you took (doula taught, empowering, husband coached). Is that what you did?
Did anyone else take a Bradley course? Were you able to have the birth you wanted? What were some of the key take-aways you got that enabled you to accomplish that goal? I'm just such a type-A that I'm even researching my research! HA!

Kudos to all you ladies going the natural route! I know it's what our bodies are designed to do, but I just couldn't do it.
@MrsRcCar: Love it!!
apricot / 253 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: I'm still not so sure I can do it either! I just keep reminding myself that there are lots of awesome benefits to at least trying - and if I decide that not 100% natural is the way to go on the day, I'm going to do what I know is best for ME and my family. I think that's what I want most to get out of the classes - just the sense that the decisions my husband and I make for US will be the right ones for us.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: I'm definitely NOT going any sort of natural birth this time around. I'm so traumatized by last time that I'm looking forward to skipping to the end by c-section. I know what my body can do--it's done it twice. I don't want to do it again, lol.

@matador84: Oh yay! Congrats on your baby girl! I found out I have an anterior placenta too. Kind of disappointed to not feel kicks, but oh well.

@MrsRcCar: love it! so cute.
I think I've been feeling kicks, mostly when I'm lying down. Last night DH put his hand on my stomach and felt one too. It's right below my belly button. I'm sure it's movement! Is 18 weeks too early to be feeling this every evening?
