@fussygal: we've settled on Nora too! I just love it! Such a beautiful baby girl.
Here's a pic of our little lady

@ScarletBegonia: Yes, I think we (ahem, DH) is avoiding the whole name thing until we get closer, since we dont know boy or girl.
@fussygal @futuremama: fun! congrats on your little ladies!
So I had my u/s this morning. Went really well and everything looks great. We made it through without finding out if it is a boy or girl, so staying strong with TG! Honestly I dont know if they would have been able to see much anyway, Baby's little legs were crossed, but s/he waved at us We didn't have great photos, Baby was not being super cooperative with that, but at least the rest of the measurements looked good--to the tech, anyway, who knows what they're measuring in there--and a HR of 146.
Next up: glucose test
persimmon / 1339 posts
@HazelEyes: dreading the glucose test -I've got mine in about a week and a half. I used to work in a blood collection clinic and I saw so many women be sick and dizzy from the GTT...and more than that I'll be freaking out so bad about GD! I haven't exactly been restrictive with the sour patch kids (my #1 craving through this whole pregnancy)
clementine / 811 posts
@ScarletBegonia: well this is the worst possible time of year for this! Halloween candy then other holidays upcoming? My test is right between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oi. I'm with you, I will be beside myself if I have GD!

@HazelEyes: @ScarletBegonia: I feel you guys about the glucose test. I am dreading it this time around. When I was pregnant with N, I failed my one hour test but I passed my 3 hour. Both tests left me feeling pretty icky. Hoping this time it goes better and I pass the one hour with flying colors.

My boss has a pretty ridiculous candy bowl that I visit fairly regularly. I haven't scheduled my glucose test yet, but it will be in late Dec. I'm saving a half vacation day for it just in case I don't feel too hot afterwards.

@ScarletBegonia: @HazelEyes: @MrsRcCar: ugh, same here! It's looming (appt after next for me) and I am dreading it. I failed the 1 hour last time, and the 3 hour was one of my most miserable pregnancy experiences (worse than labor for me!), so I am doing everything I can not to have a repeat.
Definitely scheduling it for first thing in the morning, on my husband's day off, and fasting beforehand this time! Last time I scheduled it right after lunch, was in a rush, ate a super fast, carby lunch, which no doubt lead to my demise.

Gah, I'm dreading the glucose test too! They said I need it around 28 weeks. Is that normalish? I also have to go straight to the 3 hour one because my dad is a diabetic so I'm at a higher risk.. boooo!!
Should I be making DH come with me to it if he can??
persimmon / 1339 posts
@lemondrop: oh no as much as I don't want to know, what was the 3 hour test like for you??
bananas / 9118 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: I'm just having my husband home so he can watch our toddler during and afterwards and drive me straight to a protein filled breakfast.
@ScarletBegonia: Mainly nauseous, dizzy, and starving during, and I felt absolutely horrible and run down afterwards. They warned me that if I threw up, I'd have to repeat it, so I really had to fight it (but I'm borderline hyper emesis during pregnancy). They didn't want me to move around much, so I was stuck in the lobby with 2 hours of Wendy Williams show then another hour of The View blasting next to me. After the nurse suggested getting a turkey sandwich so I would feel better- I tried but one sandwich place down the street closed, the other was cash only, after what felt like forever I finally got one- that and a nap helped me feel a lot better.
Have something to read, some music, a well charged phone, ready for the wait. And some snacks and a giant bottle of water ready for once they set you free

Glad to see all are well. Getting more tired here and a hugeee bump. Have had tailbone pain lately and some mild heartburn. Need to start stocking up on girl clothes. Haven't really done a thing for dd yet!

I have my glucose test next week...same day as the anatomy scan. I know I'm gonna fail it and I'm hoping that I can juat get them to agree that I have gd and go from there. 3 hour test seems pointless when we all already know the answer.

@fussygal: congrats on your girl!
Good luck to everyone on their glucose tests. I'll be 20 weeks on Sunday, so I still have a while to avoid it.
I had my 20 wk appt scheduled for tomorrow, but I got in a car accident today, so I was able to get pictures of her today (and still go back tomorrow)

@BabyBoecksMom: Oh my goodness, are you alright? Baby looks happy (if a little shy!!) in there.

Hey! I can't remember if I have posted recently. I really have lost my memory it feels like. Again with the memory, I can't remember if my midwife said the glucose test is next appointment (24 weeks) or the next (28 weeks). BUt luckily for mine I am just supposed to eat a normal meal for me and then not eat for 2 hours before the appointment.
Oh and I have been feeling kicks! I feel smallish ones all throughout the day and when I lay on my back I can feel giant ones. I love it! Sometimes we skip a few hours with the kicks so I am hoping that is normal. I don't know.
Still in prepregnancy clothes. But the baby kicks the waistband. So ummm not sure if that is a clue that I need bigger clothes? Is there such thing as smushing the baby with the waistband? My pants don't really feel tight. Well maybe at the cankles. Ugh! Anyways does anyone know where to buy a maternity coat and long maternity shirts. Like ones that will cover my bum if I wear leggings? Thanks ladies!
Hope everyone is doing well
watermelon / 14206 posts
@anonysquire: Yeah, babies sleep inside you, so there will be periods of time that you won't feel it kick.
I bought some nice shirts at Kohl's.
@BabyBoecksMom: Yikes! I hope you're ok!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: I didn't even see that. Holy cow are you ok??
@Dandelion: Thanks
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
@ScarletBegonia: @Mrs. Champagne: @Dandelion: @anonysquire: Yes, I'm fine. Thank you ...just sore and stiff. I went in for my 20 week appt today and he did a thorough scan to make sure she's fine. She was moving all over so I know she'll be just fine. Looks like my glucose test is scheduled for Dec. 6 - oh joy!

@BabyBoecksMom: Oh good, been at work most of the day, my first thing was to check how you ladies are doing!
persimmon / 1339 posts
Hey ladies trying to resuscitate this thread! Things are steady as she goes here...I've got 18 days of work left until the end of school term and it can't come soon enough! I'm not terribly uncomfortable or anything but i just can't focus at work...I feel worse than my students in terms of wanting the holidays to hurry the hell up! I can't wait to get started on setting up the nursery and all that.
How is everyone feeling? Any new wonderful/nasty symptoms? Today I have to relegate yet another beloved dress to the back of the closet

@ScarletBegonia: Aw I'm so jealous of your end of term break! What grade do you teach?
persimmon / 1339 posts
@fussygal: I teach high school - grades 7 -12 here. I live in Australia...so end of term break is actually Summer! And since I'm due March 8th and school starts up again Feb 7th, my principal didn't want me to come back for just a couple of weeks so I'm officially on mat leave as of December 7th! I can hardly believe it, and have no idea what I'm going to do with all that time off. I have way too high of a tolerance for laziness, i may just end up sitting on the couch for 3 1/2 months straight
Are you a teacher as well?

@Dandelion: yay! Now I have something to look forward to this week
Love the updated list! It's so weird how far along we are all ready! I feel like I should really start to prepare, I have nothing done! Poor neglected child #2
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Dandelion: Yay, so excited!!! What are you thinking it will be? I was so gung ho that it was a girl and then had a week or two of boy and am kind of back to girl now. I don't know!!!
bananas / 9118 posts
@Mrsjets: same here, half the time I have to look up my pregnancy app to figure out how far along I am. My husband was super embarrassed the other day when he asked where we are at, I told him I had no idea either, I'm throwing up less, so halfway-ish.
I'm definitely enjoying the kicks more this time and feel more attached than I did last time, but with C we knew every single new stage of development, not this time!

@anonysquire: I gave no clye. I don't even wanna guess lol
I go back and forth too.

Guys im feeling something weird. Like my lungs are smushing even when i lay stretched out. But i cant calm down my breathing. Im sure this willonly get worse but I am feeling awfully anxious. Blah.
persimmon / 1339 posts
@anonysquire: I don't have the lung squish feeling yet (I have a really long torso) but I do get short of breath a lot. I would suggest counting as you breathe in an out - maybe in for a count of 6, out for a count of 10? The shortness of breath usually comes from not emptying the lungs completely, rather than from not being able to take a deep enough breath.
Sorry if that's not helpful! It always works for me when i feel short of breath.
