@debbiei8: I started getting BH at 20 weeks with A, and at 16 weeks with this baby...
persimmon / 1198 posts
@Bao: I didn't think it was too early because I have heard of people getting them around 20 weeks like you...I think my mom generalizes a little too much sometimes. I'm not too concerned since I know BH are normal, I was more curious if that's what I was feeling. It happens most often when I'm sitting down, so it could just be him re-positioning to get more comfortable. I'm definitely bringing it up to my doctor though.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@debbiei8: yeah good thing is they are normal like you said! Everyone is different and it's hard to know what's going on in one persons body vs another's!

@mauxie welcome!!
Silly question but can anyone explain when the baby's movements start to feel like more than random jabs and twitches? Right now it's just intermittent twitches throughout the day, but when will l be able to tell what's a kick, a head, a butt, etc.?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@fussygal: I don't think it was until after 30 weeks that I could figure that stuff out, and even then it was difficult. Well...determining a foot was easy because she would slide it across my stomach (so weird), but her butt and head were difficult. After my 34th week my dr confirmed her head was down and poked at her butt so then it was easier for me to figure out.

@debbiei8: I think I've had some BH starting around 18 weeks. Feels like my uterus gets hard and tight and then goes away.
ALLL day today my stomach has hurt Not sure if I ate something weird or have a bug, it sucks!
persimmon / 1339 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: That's the worst, I'm sorry! Hopefully its just something passing. I had a crampy stomach a few days ago and it was really annoying!

@debbiei8: I started getting noticable bh this week (20 weeks). This is the first pregnancy I've felt them so early.
persimmon / 1198 posts
@Dandelion: I'm feeling more like these aren't BH that I'm feeling now...today I felt a lot of kicks low in combination with the tightening feeling, so I'm think it's just him repositioning. I think the fact that it's only really low on my belly and not the whole thing makes me feel like it might just be him moving? It also only happens when I'm sitting where my lower belly is squished (like driving or at my chair at work) so I think he might be uncomfortable when I'm sitting straight.

I figured I better update Just had my 24 week appointment today. They checked my blood sugar and it was great. One thing I always notice is that my blood pressure and pulse are always so low at the birthing center! Like incredibly low. I feel so relaxed there. Everything checked out well though.
I have been feeling so crappy lately. After my bout of the stomach flu I have been having nonstop heartburn. It has been soooooooo bad. And yesterday I woke up and could not leave my bed. I guess I am having pelvic girdle pain. I know there are normal aches and pains with being pregnant but I cant walk or sit or anything without wanting to just cry. Anyways so hopefully that resolves or they chop off my hips or something. My anxiety still comes and goes. But that is expected. I am feeling constant kicks and I LOVE it! Even Dh felt some. So cool!
I think that is all. How is everyone doing? My mom just informed me that my shower will be Janurary 30. Does anyone else have their shower date?
coconut / 8483 posts
@anonysquire: booo to not feeling great!! but yay to feeling kicks!! i feel a lot too which is fun! DH can too which he likes
My shower is when I'm back home for Christmas, so kind of early on Dec 28th. I'll be just about 29 weeks though, so I guess thats ok. Some friends are having one for me locally too on Feb 8th!
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@anonysquire: Sorry for the terrible pain I hope it's just a phase and gets better. DH just felt baby's kicks for the first time this weekend, it was awesome!
Our shower date was just set yesterday. My SIL is hosting and it will be Feb. 8th - so excited! Gotta start our registry soon. For the most part we know what we want but need to do a bit of research on some things and figure out how many of each item to ask for. We're going to do Target, Amazon and maybe BRU. Anyone else started their registry?

@anonysquire: Sorry that you are in such awful pain! I hope it gets better soon!
I had my 24 week appointment today! I gained another whole pound so I think that has me up to 3 from the start! Little E is hanging out pretty well. His heartbeat was 145. I measured right on target. I am pretty happy that everything looks great. We aren't having a baby shower because this is baby number 2. When I was expecting N, I had both of my showers in September. I had N first week of October.
I can't wait to get this heart monitor off of me!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! And for anyone who doesn't celebrate it, have awesome rest of the week.

I have an appointment tomorrow where I think I will be having the dreaded GTT. Not really sure though, I'm on shared care between my GP and the birthing centre and I never really know what is going to happen at my appointments! I'm taking it as a learning to go with the flow lesson.
Things have been actually pretty great for me lately. My husband and I had a housewarming party on the weekend and everyone loved our house so much and said what a great place it was to raise kids. And our cats were perfect with the babies and kids that were there - we get worried sometimes that they will be too aggressive with the baby. I managed to stay up until 1am with friends and only snuck a couple of sips of my husband's beer!
Physically I'm definitely getting bigger and more tired, but I haven't been uncomfortable yet. I've taken to eating a lot in the morning/early afternoon but then not as much at night, and I think that's helped with sleep and indigestion. Basically I can't complain!! Love feeling the kicks and so does my husband. Baby was going NUTS during walking dead last night - it must have been my heart rate!

@ScarletBegonia: If they didn't tell you ahead of time, then you probably aren't going to take it. It usually takes a bit of prep (fasting or not, depending on your office).

No shower for me this time around...I'm just gonna rely on my mom and MIL to help me compile all of LO's clothes. Luckily, I don't need big gear...just lots and lots of clothes!
bananas / 9118 posts
Not much going on here right now, I haven't thrown up in almost 2 weeks, so that's a major victory! I'm having a heck of a time sleeping- can't fall asleep easily, and wake up super early. Otherwise feeling pretty good and am super ready to pig out for Thanksgiving!
No shower or registry here, we have pretty much everything we need, which seems to drive everyone else nuts. Coming up with a list for my MIL was a toughie.
Really all we need now is a new dresser for C so I can start organizing clothes. I think we are going to try the Rock N'Play this time too, and get some new hoodie towels, but other than that we are pretty much set
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@lemondrop: I'm so excited to pig out on Thursday, too! The past two days I've been starving all. of. the. time. So I can't wait to have an excuse to just eat alllll day
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
No registry for us either since this is baby #2. Also a girl which helps, except they are opposite seasons. We just need to get a crib, dresser, curtains, paint etc. Gear we are all set! We buy clothes second hand anyway so filling in the gaps won't break the bank.
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@lemondrop: mmmm...one of each for sure. And sooooo much stuffing.
papaya / 10560 posts
Things fine here other than DS having chicken pox. Feeling fine and the end is in sight for sure! No second shower either, the only gear I want is pretty much luxury, not need. Carseat canopy, a soft structured wrap, maybe a bouncer, and girl clothes.

Oh I forgot to say! I'm having my shower the 1st of Feb so I'll be pretty large!! But my parents are coming over from Canada and thats the earliest we could do it with them here. Hopefully the little one stays put til 35 weeks so I can get some stuff and nest a bit before the big arrival!
I need literally everything right now. I've been putting off buying/preparing until I finish work, at the end of next week. I think I have 2 onesies that friends have handed down, and the promise of a bassinet and infant car capsule. That's it!

Happy thanksgiving to all the American mamas! Have some stuffing for me!

@Dandelion: you were right, didn't do the GTT yesterday, just got the referral for it. So I'll go in first thing Saturday morning to do it. But can I just say I LOVE my GP - she is so no nonsense, answers all my questions with total confidence and doesn't entertain any of my silly anxieties. Her attitude is not for everyone but I LOVE her! She measured my belly and listened with the doppler, and then I was expecting to be weighed but she didn't ask me to hop on the scale - I asked if I needed to and she said "you look perfect. you clearly aren't gaining too much weight and you're measuring right on track. I don't want to cause you any more anxiety so just keep doing what you are doing" LOVE!!!!!! I know I'm going to get weighed at the midwives in about 3 weeks but it made me feel so good to hear that

Happy Thanksgiving to all you American ladies!
I'm feeling a little run down but I think I've just been trying to do too much - gotta keep telling myself to break! DS has been super clingy and constantly holding him has given me more back pain. I think I'll look into a massage in December - it's covered 100% through our benefits so I just need to book it (and find a sitter).
No shower for us either. I will probably host a drop in sip and see with cake, coffee and apps a couple weeks after she is born. I'm not looking for gifts - we have all we need although I'm still looking for a double stroller but probably won't need it until the spring/summer so I'm in no rush.
papaya / 10560 posts
@Mrsjets: I am feeling run down too! That is awesome massage is covered under your benefits! I need one but don't want to pay.
Up at 4am rocking ds...I haven't been feeling well...terrible heartburn again with this pregnancy. Getting huge!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@matador84: zantac saved me with S. She was so high up ahe made me miserable. I tried tums but they made it worse. She also had tons of hair sp maybe yours will too! I hope it gets better. Mine did once she dropped.
Tbis baby is way lower so I'm not getting the burn...not yet anyways!
..
pear / 1699 posts
@matador84: yes Zantac totally helped my heartburn last time. The 75 was enough but the 150 is also considered safe by my dr. Luckily it hasn't been that bad this go round but I think it's because, like @dandelion, I'm carrying lower this time

I've been having some MAJOR sciatic nerve pain at night only and it's only getting worse Last night was the worst by far and I dread going to bed every night because I'm literally up every 20 minutes stretching or rolling over (which doesn't help). My next appt is on Wednesday so I'll talk to my OB again and see if he has any recommendations. Last time I saw him it had just started and he said if it got worse physical therapy could be an option. Something I sure hope is covered well on my insurance!
@Mrsjets: That is awesome that massage is covered by your plan! I've never even thought of that so I definitely need to look into it.

@fussygal: Sorry about your pain. I know the feeling. I went and got adjusted today. My chiro said that my hip was completely locked up.
Today I had my glucose test. I am happy to announce that I passed my glucose test with flying colors. I am so happy I don't have to do the 3 hour test again.
I got adjusted by my chiro this afternoon. I feel a lot better but not 100%. He said if I am not closer to 100% better I will need to come back like Wednesday. I am just happy I can walk again.
Hop everyone had a great weekend!
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@MrsRcCar: Good to hear about your glucose test and that the chiro is working for you!! I hope you're back to 100% (well, as much as a pregnant lady can be) soon!

Hi everyone,
I've been keeping up but quiet for a bit with nothing to report, but this past weekend DH felt a kick/punch/headbutt--which he was SUPER excited about, esp since the doc said it would probably be a few more months for that. Then last night Baby was going nuts and we could actually see the kicks from the outside! So fun
Glucose test on Thursday... (why did I schedule it for the week after Thanksgiving gluttony??) and our nursery furniture is coming too!
@MrsRcCar: Congrats on your glucose test! Hope you're setting a trend!
watermelon / 14206 posts
I've been quiet, too...due to end of the semester stuff and the holidays.
Me and LO are doing well. My progesterone shots aren't that bad at all. I go back Thursday for my next one and then a week from Friday is my regular prenatal appointment. I think the weekly shots are actually making time seem to go by faster.
I've had quite an appetite! I managed to eat so much at Thanksgiving, and while everyone was rolling around from being stuffed, I was eating more pie, lol. I'm trying to not eat every thing in sight, but my stomach gets the best of me, lol.
clementine / 811 posts
@Dandelion: omg me too, with the eating! I don't know what's come over me! Its so hard to stay "moderate" with all this good stuff around!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@HazelEyes: Usually my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but I keep surprising myself that I'm not getting sick of eating all the food, lol
persimmon / 1339 posts
Hey everyone - well it looks like I passed my GTT, i haven't heard anything from the doctor yet after doing it on Saturday so I'm taking no news as good news!
Unfortunately in the process of cleaning out my desk (T-2 days until holidays + mat leave!!!!!!!) I pulled something in my ribs and now it hurts to breathe and move in most ways. My centre of gravity is so off, I think that's what caused it. Damn heavy bump! I'm really looking forward to lying on the couch and hopefully stretching this muscle/whatever back to where it used to be.
Other than that things are plugging along...sleeping is not going great but I'm managing usually 5-6 hrs a night, even if broken. I can survive on that! No real heartburn to speak of yet but I'm sure its on its way.
Hows everyone else?
bananas / 9118 posts
Not much going on over here either. I had my monthly appointment today, little guy kicked the doppler straight on and made a huge noise and a bruise on my belly. I have my GD test in 2 weeks, I really hope I pass and don't have to do the 3 hour. It's nice to have an appetite finally and to start gaining weight for this little guy.
Mostly just crazy busy with work since my grads are in the middle of their boards window and I do tutoring for them. Looking forward to the 18th when my Christmas break starts for my onsite students and boards are done!
