I had my glucose test this morning. Not as bad as I thought, but gave me a little bit of a headache. Results tomorrow. HB 145, so keeping us guessing on boy vs girl still Next appt is an u/s and growth measurement on 1/3/14! Eek for 2014!

I had my 6 month appointment yesterday and everything looked great. HB was good and I'm measuring right on track. I talked to him about my back pain and he said they'd refer me to a PT if I want, but last night the pain was sooo much better (the best it's been in 6 weeks!!) that I might give it a few days and see if it's going away (knock on wood!). Next appointment and GD test is Jan 3rd. Not looking forward to that!

@fussygal: glad you're feeling better - here's hoping it lasts

I feel like I've gained 10 lbs in my butt - my mat jeans are fitting tighter than I'd like - wah

I have my glucose test tomorrow - I hate that I have to fast for it but I'm definitely looking forward to the Chick-fil-a chicken biscuit I'm going to get after I'm done. mmmmm protein

Here's the updated list of how far along everyone is. I can't believe some of you are already in your 3rd trimester! I still have at least 4 weeks to go. I can't complain too much, but the past two nights, I've had horrible pressure and my stomach has stayed rock hard until I finally go to bed at night. Frustrating, but I know there's really nothing I can do about it.

I have been bad at keeping up with this thread but with the holidays I feel like the days are slipping away! Nothing too new here, although I'm starting to get a big uncomfortable, especially on days where I walk around a lot. My mom has the date of my baby shower planned (Jan. 26th) and both of our registries are pretty much done.

When we saw my parents for Thanksgiving my mom and I went to a local natural baby store to look at cloth diapers. At first I was kind of overwhelmed and not that into it because I had already picked a brand I wanted (Bumgenius) but they also recommend a brand I have never heard of that sounds like it will be great for nighttime and errand running.

We've talked with a photographer about maternity and newborn photos too! I'm hoping to do maternity photos in early January (actually I think these will be our anniversary gift since our anniversary in January 8th) so that I'm not too huge in them!

I have my GD test in about 2 weeks. I was really nervous about having GD, but my mom and DH have helped talk me down over it. I'm not sure why I was so convinced I would have it...maybe because my pregnancy as been pretty easy so far, but hopefully I don't have to worry about it! I'm going to try to go to the gym at least 2 times a week...and I think my eating has gotten a ton better since the first trimester at least!

How's everyone else been feeling? Are the days flying by for everyone else? We leave for my in-laws' house in 15 days! Crazy!

@debbiei8: yay for baby shower planning mine seems so early (end of December) but it's the only time we can do it!

I had my GD test this week. I had to do the 3 hour one because my dad has diabetes. Ugh it kind of blew! But I didn't throw up which I thought I might, so that was good! Waiting on the results still.

Baby is moving around a lot which is cool.. Last night we watched him move my stomach all over the place.

We are in the process of getting our basement finished (drywall happening today!) so when that's finally done we can move the guest room downstairs and get the baby room together! Can't wait for that!

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: good luck! hopefully it comes back negative for GD I think if I had been home for Christmas this year I would have been interested in having my shower in December, but we will be with my in-laws, so January is easier. Plus my cousin's baby's first birthday is the beginning of January so we had several things to look at! I have to drive about 5 hours to get there. I was just thinking if someone buys our swing (or something similar) I'm not sure how we will get it home! We might have to return it and repurchase it

I can't wait to see your baby's room put together, you have some great ideas! We really need to get started on clearing out baby's room. It has been our "storage" room for years so we have a lot in there. Unfortunately I work every weekend in December except the last two and we will be out of town! Hopefully we can get his room together by the end of January, but it will be crazy!

Ugh, my belly is sooo low...it feels heavy! I can't imagine it's going to feel any better as the weeks go by! Such a difference from S, who felt like she was up in my rib cage, lol. I can breathe and better, but I guess this is the payout for it, lol.

  9. MrsRcCar

@Dandelion: This little guy loves to hangout low too! N hung out in my ribs but my goodness this one is in my hip joint I am almost 100% sure.

I am getting ready to go on a trip this next week and I am a little nervous. When I was pregnant with N I flew to Florida but I was just barely 4 months. This time our flight is longer and I am traveling with a toddler. Hopefully all will go well.

I am happy to report that I can finally get days without needing my Zofran. I wasn't sure that day would ever come but thank goodness it has. I did pass my glucose test but found out that my iron was pretty low. Also I finally got my heart moniter off so this week has been pretty good minus the low iron thing.

    Hope everyone is well.

@Dandelion: I woke up Friday night feeling like I couldn't breathe...I was definitely breathing, but it just felt like I couldn't...it was so weird! I ended up being up for over an hour trying to get a good deep breath (or deep enough I felt able to go back to sleep). I also had terrible reflux at the same time (like if I bent over I would throw up) so I have a feeling baby was laying with his back pushed up to my ribs. It was horrible, and I hope he doesn't do it again, haha. It has made me really nervous for the weeks to come! Glad you don't have to deal with that, but a heavy belly isn't a great trade off either

@MrsRcCar: yay for no Zofran! I never had to take anything for sickness, but I hate feeling nauseous, so it must be nice to be feeling better!

  11. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

Doing pretty good over here Also passed my glucose test.. woohoo!

Last night my lower back was sore and I was feeling a bit crampy. I debated about calling the midwife, but I had a bath and felt a lot better. My lower back still hurts though, but I think I must just be getting uncomfortable.

@MrsRcCar: good luck on your trip!

  12. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: S was so high I was tired all the time from not being able to breathe. I was in a crazy tired fog the entire pregnancy...until she dropped. Then I felt amazing, lol. I also got bad heartburn, too, but she did have a lot of hair, so maybe it was a doulee whammy. I haven't had any heartburn this time, so maybe if this guy has hair, I'll be able to debunk the hair/heartburn thing, lol

I don't have an appoinment until the 17th but I am praying I passed my glucose...I did with DS. My biggest thing has been heartburn. I cannot believe the baby will be here before I know it!
We have the crib in our bedroom ready but I need to figure out some kind of changing set up. My goal is to work on DS's room before she gets here and ultmately it will be a shared room as they get older.

  14. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@Dandelion: that doesn't sound fun, I think I would have been in a fog too

    @Mrs. Champagne: yay, congrats!

@matador84: I have an appointment on the 17th too and will need to do my glucose test that day...not looking forward to it!

My back has been killing me the past two days. I have had past lower back problems (saw a chiropractor throughout high school) and it seems that is where the pain is starting, but it seems to be spreading up my back and it is really painful. I think I slept on one side for too long and it messed up my back I have a gift card to spa from xmas last year (from the family I nanny for) that I think I will use on a prenatal massage. Has anyone had a prenatal massage before? I've never had a full massage before, so I'm not really sure what to expect.

  15. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@debbiei8: you should totally get one! I've been going once a month forever. I haven't had a "prenatal" massage, just my regular stuff she does but she knows I'm pregnant and I lie on my side.

Is anyone else super tired? I am trying to read a book for my book club and I can't stay awake!

    I'm feeling pretty great!
Can I ask a TMI question?? When did your nipples start leaking? This is my first pregnancy, so I'm not sure what to expect...I woke up with some little tiny stains on my shirt, and its never happened before so I'm guessing its something to do with lactation? I had some sexy times with my husband yesterday and some cuddles and kissing this morning, and when I got up the stains were there. I'm 27 1/2 weeks now.

  17. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@ScarletBegonia: Yeah, that sounds about right. I started leaking about then with S. I only had 3 months between her and this pregnancy, so I've already been a leaking a bit, and I'm 23 weeks.

  18. fussygal

Feeling great here! Most of my sleeping back pain is getting better and that was my only complaint. We need to clear out the spare bedroom and start on some nursery stuff. We're doing a shopping trip in a few weeks and I suspect that's when we'll get all of the big pieces. I found an awesome tutorial on Pinterest for turnig any chair into a glider - super excited to have DH do that and save some $$

@ScarletBegonia: No leakage here, but last night I was just surfing the internet and all the sudden both of my nipples got kind of tingly for about 10 seconds (it almost hurt!). So strange!

@Mrs. Champagne: So tired! I've been in bed by 9:00 everyday for almost 2 weeks - eek!

@debbiei8: Oh no!! I hope your back pain gets better!

  19. ScarletBegonia

    persimmon / 1339 posts

@Dandelion: Thanks for the info! Pregnancy is such a beautiful time I think my husband is more than a little freaked out by this new development!! I think he'll be staying away from the general area for a little while!!

@fussygal: So glad your back pain has gotten better. I can hardly believe that my back hasn't given me more trouble during the pregnancy. I have had on and off back problems for 3 years and I thought for sure this would be 9 months of hell, but somehow I've only had to visit the physio once! I think breastfeeding will be when it really kicks in - the posture you have to assume makes my lower back hurt just to look at it - I'm going to have to be diligent about using a pillow and keeping as good posture as I can.

In other news, this is my first day of holidays that lead right into my mat leave! I'm at work now finishing up a few things (and um....posting on HB!!) but basically I'm all done! Which means now i can actually buy baby stuff, apply for daycares, and hopefully learn how to be a parent!! I've just been ignoring this pregnancy so far. eep!

Anyone else getting restless with maternity leave so close (yet so far!!)? Im having a particularly rough Monday so this is even more on my mind that usual My work for the year is winding down and with the holidays in full swing it's hard to focus sometimes. I know mat. leave will have its own challenges, but I'm really looking forward to time time off to bond with LO. I'm still waiting for my small company to tell me what they'll be providing in the way of maternity leave though...

@anonysquire: woohoo - double digits! How are you feeling?

    @anonysquire: me too!! yay

@fussygal: ahh yess!!! i am slacking!! I'm going to be a SAHM after my leave (which is 52 weeks because I'm in Canada) so I'm reallllly struggling to be motivated since I know I'm not coming back! Blah!

  23. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

So after 25 weeks of feeling pretty great I've been hit with a terrible week. First, I've had some breathing struggles that may be linked to heartburn. I've noticed lots of pressure in my esophagus (which is what my heartburn usually feels like) and had some difficultly feeling like I'm getting deep enough breaths. I feel like the whole front of my body is just so heavy...especially my chest area! I woke up last Friday night with issues breathing, then the same thing happened on Monday night (although I woke up because of a stomach ache and had to use the bathroom, then I discovered I was having bad heartburn and some difficulty with deep breaths). It never feels like I can't breathe, it just feels like my breathing isn't doing enough...if that makes sense! I have a prescription for some heartburn medicine, so I'm hoping it kicks in soon. I ate tomato based things for dinners the 2 nights I had issues (pizza and tomato soup) so that might have been the issue there. I'm hoping I don't have to avoid those because tomato has been one of the big things I crave!

I have also developed terrible pain in my tailbone area. It feels like muscle soreness all around that area. Is anyone else dealing with this? What are you doing to help it? At first I was wondering if it was from sleeping on my side, but maybe it's from baby sitting really low?

  24. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@debbiei8: Ouch!! I can't stress enough to go ahead and get a support belt. Not necessarily one of the heavy duty ones,, but just a light one like the one I use. I used it with my last pregnancy and it really helped to alleviate some of the pelvic pain... without being too cumbersome.

    http://www.amazon.com/Its-You-Babe-Cradle-181-225/dp/B000I5UASY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1386948711&sr=8-3&keywords=maternity+support+belt

And, at 24w,5d, I now have pelvic pain - not bad.. still bearable. I was hoping to avoid it this time. I figured my pelvis spread enough last time that it wouldn't have to do much this time. Just one more thing to prevent me from working out this pregnancy

I just thought I would share this here as well. I am 27 weeks today. I booked a prenatal massage this morning, it was awesome. If you haven't booked one yet book it now!!! Completely worth it. I am traveling on business with my dad so it has been great so far. Here is a picture. I shared it in the bump thread but I thought I would share it here as well.

@BabyBoecksMom: thanks for the tip. I'm going to see if that belt is anywhere local, if not I'm ordering it ASAP. Are you having your pain in the morning when you wake up? I feel like that is when it is at its worse for me. Yesterday morning bending in the shower was almost impossible I was so sore! I woke up really sore again and I know I slept on one side almost the whole night, I wonder if that is what is causing my pain?

OK haven't updated in forever but life has been super hectic, hope everyone is feeling well!

We are team pink!! So we'll have one of each, I think DH is secretly relieved I'll have less chance of asking for a third. She is super active and sitting pretty high, she definitely lets me know when she wants me to change position. I get another growth sonogram next week, can't wait to see her!!

So far this pregnancy has been harder than the first, I'm bigger and less fit than before and also running after a toddler so it's taken a toll. I'm so tired all the time! But am fortunate that she is healthy and everything is progressing as it should. Three months to go!!

  28. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@debbiei8: I don't normally have pain in the morning unless I sleep in a different bed (when we travel) or on the couch. We have a tempurpedic mattress so I honestly think that keeps me from being in more pain than I would be. I think Target sells those support bands, and if not, then a Motherhood store would carry them.

@MamaChin: congrats on team pink! I totally get not being in as good of shape and not being able to work out! But, I figure I'm burning enough calories by chasing a toddler all. the. time. Haha. Do they ever run out of energy??

    Hi everyone!
I had the first instalment of my childbirth class today - it was enlightening to say the least!! I'm trying to go med free (using a birth clinic with only midwives, barring any complications), and in a way the class made me more confident but in a way it made me less confident. My husband loved the class though, and he is feeling much better about our birth centre decision, so hopefully with some time to reflect and next weeks session I'll come around!
Besides that I'm great - went to see Bon Jovi last night and danced for 3 hours!! Did a number on my pelvis but not really feeling too bad.
Hope everyone is having/had a good weekend

@ScarletBegonia: I just signed up for childbirth classes this morning! We start the first Monday of January and it goes the whole month. Then we have a breastfeeding class. I'm glad we got in...I kinda kept forgetting to sign up and they were almost all full!

I passed my glucose test! Yay! I was kinda worried about failing, but my numbers were 98 and the like it to be under 140...so I wasn't even close to failing!

I did find out my iron is low. I just got a message this morning with my blood test results and my iron is just outside of the normal range. My doctor hasn't said anything yet and I don't see her again until the 7th of January due to the holidays, but I'm assuming I will need to start an iron supplement. Is anyone else taking one? What are you taking? My mom told me to get an easy to digest one since it can be hard on your stomach, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

  32. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: I would eat more iron rich foods in the meantime. I wouldn't take a supplement until they say you need to. It can make you constipated and uncomfortable.

  33. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@debbiei8: If they didn't say to start an iron supplement, I wouldn't! I have to take an iron supplement and it is extremely hard on my tummy. I would recommend just upping iron rich food. Perhaps you can avoid the supplement that way!

@ScarletBegonia: Glad that you enjoyed your class! I wish DH and I had done classes the first time around but it just wasn't going to work! This time we feel silly even thinking about it! Also I am a little jealous about the Bon Jovi thing sounds like you had a great time!

@MamaChin: Congrats on Team Pink! Hopefully you will get sometime to relax! I feel you on the toddler front! N is 14 months of just complete energy. There are times I feel like we will never rest.

@BabyBoecksMom: Hope your pelvic pain doesn't get too bad! I haven't had it yet but hoping to avoid it this time. Last time was awful!

@Mrs. Champagne: I am a little jealous that you get to be a SAHM. I wish it was possible for us!

@fussygal: I am looking forward my maternity leave. Although I know I won't have too much of a break. Hazard of working for family but that's ok.

I just got back from Las Vegas. The trip was wonderful but hard at the same time. I used to being a go go kind of person. I found that I was much more drained this time. N did great on the trip with us tho. My mum and I vacation a little harder then most people. We are always headed somewhere. I was pretty sore from the airplane ride, so my dad was nice enough to pay for a prenatal massage. It made my trip 100% more enjoyable. I can say that I am pretty happy to be home, I missed DH a lot and I know that N did too. The flights made me feel a lot better about travelling with two LO's in June.

My next appointment is Dec 26. I can't wait to see what they have to say. I know that my weight gain isn't where it should be but as long as we are measuring on schedule I won't complain!

Things have been pretty uneventful here, I've started every two week appointments (next one is Tuesday)- seems early to me compared to last time, but this pregnancy has been flying by, so I'm definitely not the best one to judge time! I've had all sorts of pre-term labor dreams, and sure as hell am not ready for him to arrive yet. We are getting closer to a name thankfully, but are waiting until an elective 3D/4D scan in early January to settle on it for sure. We keep referring to him as "Maybe (potential name)". Cam's 30ish week elective ultrasound was the best thing ever, so I'm super excited!

I have been SUPER uncomfortable the past couple weeks, but I woke up this morning and the little guy has dropped significantly! Not prior to labor dropping I think, but more dropping to where I carried Cam last pregnancy since he was always pretty low- Oh Mylanta, the relief!!! This one has been sooooo high, I didn't realize how little I could breathe until this morning, it feels amazing!

Hope everyone else is doing well and had a great holiday (if you celebrate)!

Ok, end of year check-in time! How is everyone doing? I'm 27 weeks today and I feel like my belly grows leaps and bounds overnight sometimes! I still have another week until my next appointment and glucose test so I'm trying to eat better, especially since I feel like I've been eating a ton of sugar the past two weeks (mmm...cookies). My back pain at night hasn't gone away and I've had the hardest time finding a local physical therapist that takes our insurance. Honestly though, except for that I feel great overall and am just trying to get used to navigating the world with a big belly - getting up from a lying position is hard!

We had our 4d ultrasound last week and she was very uncooperative because all she wanted to do was stay in one position w/ her hand in front of her face... which I'm hoping translates to a laid back baby. (When we had it with DD1, she was moving a lot, chewing on her hands and umbilical cord, etc).

I also found out that the doctor never adjusted my due date (it's still based on the date of my last period, instead of my date of ovulation... a difference of about a week). But, the baby is measuring right on the mark for the doctor's due date. So, that means that this baby may come earlier than expected, or she's going to be much bigger than DD - I'm hoping it's not the latter. I'm going to go ahead and take the doctor's due date of 3/24, and keep my fingers crossed.

@lemondrop: mine dropped a bit too! Or maybe he just turned head down cause I didn't think he could be any lower. My pelvis now hurts a lot! But I know how you mean about being able to breathe. When S dropped thats exactly how I felt.

Merry Christmas marchies!! Things are good here, but I had a little scare on Christmas night...I ate an assload of turkey, and then sat down to watch Christmas movies with my crew - I noticed about 20 minutes into Love Actually that I hadn't felt the baby move at all...so I got up and walked around, drank some cold water, and changed positions a lot, and still nothing. I got more and more upset as the night wore on, until I didn't really want to be around people anymore and almost started to cry in from of my MIL and friends!! I went up to our room and lay down for ages...I think my brain was playing tricks on me and I all of a sudden couldn't tell if I was feeling anything or not. Then around 11pm the baby started hiccupping, and after that it started moving more. Anyway - it was so scary, but in the end such a minor thing.
Besides that, I'm a few days shy of 30 weeks and still feeling pretty great! I just know I'm going to be punished for this easy pregnancy - either in the last 10 weeks or with a fussy impossible baby!

One thing I forgot, we found out that we have another niece or nephew coming in July- I'm so excited to be an auntie again, that was one of the best Christmas presents ever!

@fussygal: if my husband gets the day off, the ultrasound will be January 7th (Cam's 2nd birthday!) and I will post the photos!

@BabyBoecksMom: I'm definitely wishing you a super chill baby! I think we are in for the opposite this time around, this little guy is crazy! We've been calling him the Kraken, I seem to anger him frequently.

@Dandelion: yay for dropping, too bad about your pelvis- it's always something, isn't it! I feel so good today, I could cry! Cam was always very low (I remember being amazed he actually could drop lower!), my husband has been saying lately he doesn't remember me being this miserable until 37 weeks last time, now I remember what I felt like last time and how I could be as active as I was I even was able to work out today and clean the house without needing a nap- gotta take advantage of good days! I'm hoping to do a little more than walk in a 5k we have coming up in January.
