We are taking our maternity pictures today! We had them originally scheduled for tomorrow, but it is supposed be 1*/ in the negatives so we rescheduled for this afternoon. It is still kinda cold (but at least it is in the 20's today!), but hopefully it won't be too bad since we are going to be in and out of places in our downtown area.

LO has hiccups for the first time today. Now I know he's definitely head down.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@Dandelion: I felt them for the first time about 2 weeks ago, so fun!
persimmon / 1198 posts
@Dandelion: I think I have been feeling them too...they feel a lot softer than kicks/other movements and rhythmic. This might be a stupid question, but how do you know he's head down? Is it because the hiccups feel really low? That's mostly where I have felt mine.

@Mrsjets: I will definitely post a few when she finishes editing. It was pretty chilly by the end, but I'm so glad we did them yesterday and not to today!

Well today kind of sucks...I called my doctor's office to let them know I noticed a bit of blood in my stool this morning and while they said to just keep an eye on it until my appointment next week (probably just hemorrhoid related - glamourous!), the nurse said my GD test levels came back elevated (148) and I have to go in for the three hour I was so nervous about not passing and now I feel like crap about my fears coming true. Hopefully I pass the three hour with flying colors but this week of waiting will suck - ugh. The worst part is the blood draw (I passed out at my standard 8 week blood draw and came *thisclsoe* to passing out last week as she was taking blood after my GD test). I don't do well with losing blood after fasting I guess
grapefruit / 4712 posts
@fussygal: I hope that the three hour test goes better for you. I felt hung over when I was done but I passed. Hope everything else is ok for you.
We are pretty much snowed in here. I am enjoying my extra day off with Dh and N. I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday, hoping she will be drawing an iron level so I can get off the iron pills. I have been keeping up in reading tho. Right now my mum, N , and myself are prepping for a trip this weekend. We are hoping for safe travels, the weather is not pretty here. Last time I checked with wind chill it is presently -44.
Hope everyone is safe and warm!!

@fussygal: Good luck w/ your 3-hr test!
@MrsRcCar: Stay warm! No snow here, but it's the coldest it's been in a while (20's/30's)
@Dandelion: I actually felt hiccups this morning at 3:30 (when I couldn't get back to sleep). I thought it was a muscle spasm at first but thanks to your response, I remembered that it was more likely hiccups because of the location and frequency. Those annoyed me so much later in the pregnancy w/ DD1, but they were cute to feel this time.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: haha yeah. S had them a lot and the cuteness wears off fast. But its nice to know LO is good.

I had a small dot of blood last night.. ughhhh so frustrating because things have been great so far! It was just a couple streaks when I wiped after going # 2, so I'm wondering if that was the cause? Midwife wasn't concerned at all. She said could be a UTI and to go in and give a urine sample when I can get my car out of the snow-filled driveway--- maybe tomorrow. I'm feeling kicks though and no more blood after that, so I'm assuming things are ok! I hated seeing it though.

@Mrs. Champagne: Hope everything is going ok and that you're able to get into the doctor today. Let us know!
I've just found out that my company's disability policy doesn't cover me like my bosses were assuming (gahh!). So I'm 12 weeks out from my due date and have no clue what my maternity leave will look like
coconut / 8483 posts
@fussygal: Thanks! All roads here are closed!! So i'm not able to go. I don't think I have a UTI.. I think it was a fluke thing. No more bleeding or spotting and baby is moving a ton, thank god!
That's so frustrating you don't know what your leave is going to be! When will they know?
persimmon / 1198 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: I hope everything is ok! I bet more than likely it was from using the bathroom...it definitely happens!
I found out this morning that my brother is having a GIRL in June! I'm excited for a niece and that we will have one boy and girl baby joining our family this year! I totally called it for him and my cousin (who is due in May and also having a girl).

We had our 30ish week elective 4D ultrasound today- great experience, pretty much one of the highlights of both of my pregnancies. My family got to come and see and we facetimed with my IL's so they could watch too. His measurements are incredibly similar to his brother's at the same age (I think I'm a week ahead of C's ultrasound by MY dates).
We figured out Cam's name right after this one last time, and were hoping for the same to happen this time. Just now my husband told me, "Well from looking at the images, I think we should name him Cameron" they look so alike. I've included one of Cam from the same age (last photo).

@lemondrop: I am tearing up looking at those!!! Those faces and toes!!
grapefruit / 4712 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: hope everything is ok!
@fussygal: I hope they figure out your leave soon! I still need to work on a plan for me too but I am not too worried right now.
@lemondrop: love your ultrasound pictures!! I wish I was getting another one right now. Although we opted to go early this time.
I haven't worked much this week on account of the weather and road conditions. My mum drove me in this morning and the ride in was just fine. For lunch my dad and I went out for food and on the way back we rear ended another car. No damage to my dad's car but very slight damage on the other car. So I called my doctor and was sent to the hospital for monitoring just to make sue little E was ok. Everything looked great on the monitors and I have an appointment in the morning. I am just happy today is over with!
Hope everyone else is staying safe and warm!
coconut / 8483 posts
@lemondrop: woah they look the exact same!!! how cool
@MrsRcCar: thanks! feeling totally fine and no blood.. so I don't know what it was. It was literally just a couple streaks. So odd!
Glad you're ok after your crash! So scary.
We've got a lot of snow here - every road is closed and has been for a day. Snow day today for DH and I and assuming tomorrow too! Nice to just kind of relax
bananas / 9118 posts
Thanks all, I'll post a few side by sides and comparisons after I survive my work day tomorrow. I love the big ol' nose on this guy, I keep forgetting how smashed up they get in there. I'm so excited to get to see him, Cam looked so similar to his ultrasound when he was born.
@MamaChin: I hear ya, I am tearing up at EVERYTHING right now, I seriously cry at the drop of a hat!
@Mrs. Champagne: hope all is well and that you can get checked out soon! Relaxing and taking it easy definitely can't hurt right now.
@MrsRcCar: Wow, glad you and the little one are safe- how scary!

My appointment this morning went great! Little E's heartbeat was 145. I even got clearance for my trip this weekend. I am pretty excited. Hoping that our trip is completely enjoyable with no other issues.
Also things are starting to thaw here finally!
Hope all you ladies are feeling well and gearing up for our LOs.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@lemondrop: Wow they do look a lot alike, crazy! Those are some great photos. When we had our specialist appt she didn't really get many good 4D photos for us, yours are great!

Finally made it to the hospital to do a urine sample. Roads opened for the first time in two days around noon today! I kind of wish my midwife had wanted to check me out, but she seemed very calm about the whole thing and I'm totally fine now. I think it must have been a fluke! Or maybe I do have a UTI with no other symptoms.. hard to say if I'm peeing more than normal, because duh of course I am!
papaya / 10560 posts
I had my appointment yesterday. It went well, no weight gain in the past 3 weeks. I have had nausea lately and haven't been eating much so that is probably why.
Chunky baby on sonogram, already weighs 4 pounds. The sonographer was so shocked that I still have 8 weeks left. Starting to wonder if my EDD is wrong! She even went back and looked at DS's sonogram from the same point and he was 3 lb 6 oz and the EDD with him was about 3 days prior to when I really had him.

@lemondrop: what amazing pictures! He's so cute, and is the spitting image of his brother!
@MrsRcCar: glad you're ok, such crappy roads here too. I'm so scared to end up in an accident and spending my evening worried sick about baby.
@Dandelion: my heart burn kicked in and I totally though of you. Ugh, tums are just not enough
Our 3D ultra sound is this Saturday and I'm so so excited! I hope she isn't too smooshed in there and we get a decent pic, we went 4 weeks earlier with J but Christmas was all consuming so fingers crossed!

@Mrsjets: drink lots of water for the 2-3 days ahead, I made it my job and our ultrasound tech went bananas over our images. I think it helped that the lady before us was super dehydrated and they were going to have to re-do them.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@Mrsjets: tums make it worse for me. Zantac is the only thing that gave me some relief. Mine seems to have subsided but I'm prepared for it to show back up.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@matador84: DS was born 8 weeks early and was 6.5 pounds! I shouldn't have been so surprised that S was 10 at 39 weeks.
pear / 1699 posts
@lemondrop: oh I forgot that they mentioned that, will do, thank you!
@Dandelion: I used Zantac last time at the end and am almost at the point where I will start this time. I've been getting leg cramps at night to go with the heartburn too
watermelon / 14206 posts
@Mrsjets: Yes, the cramps! Ugh, they're driving me crazy. Usually I can stop them right when I feel them about to ball up, but I've often woken up DH yelling, making him think something else is really wrong, lol. It hurts!
bananas / 9118 posts
@Mrsjets: @Dandelion: Yes- leg cramps in the early mornings when I stretch in bed, I've found that if I immediately flex my foot (heel down, toe towards my knee) it won't progress. Last time I didn't know that and would be writhing and yelling in pain. Someone on HB mentioned it!
Heartburn and reflux was killer last night. I was up at least a dozen times. I knew I would regret that cupcake at 10pm, but I ate it anyway
watermelon / 14206 posts
@lemondrop: Yep, that's exactly what I do! And once, you get it, do the same thing.
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@Mrsjets: @Dandelion @lemondrop: Oddly enough pregnancy has been the only time in my life that I haven't had leg cramps! I usually get them 1-2 times a month (ouch!). Although my sciatic nerve pain is more than making up for missing out on those cramps
We just ordered our crib - yay! It's been sold out online for the past week and I was worried that we were going to have to go with a more expensive option if it didn't come back in stock - so I'm glad it did! 11 weeks left and I'm in full on nesting mode but we need to get our guest bed out of the nursery asap before we can do much.
Also, invites to our shower (Feb. 22) were mailed out yesterday. SIL is doing it in a tea party theme, should be fun! Anyone have their shower coming up soon-ish?
persimmon / 1339 posts
I've got my baby shower on Feb 1st! I'm very excited, my mom will be over here from Canada and some of my friends are coming in from Melbourne and Adelaide.
Things are good here! Had a natural childbirth intensive class last night where i learned some pain management strategies and breathing stuff...it was okay but i'm sure i'll forget all of it when the time comes! Is anyone else in this group planning a med-free labour & delivery?
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@ScarletBegonia: How fun to have your mom and friends traveling for your shower - I hope you guys have fun!
I am planning to do a med-free birth but I'm also totally open to the fact that it might not happen! I've been very fortunate to not really have experienced really bad pain before so I'm honestly not sure what my threshold will be! I'm just trying to keep in mind that there is an end to the pain and learn some breathing and pain management techniques. Our first class is next week. What kind of stuff did you find most useful from the class?
bananas / 9118 posts
@ScarletBegonia: maybe, mostly I'm leaving my options open. I'm expecting to go pretty fast, so I may not even have a choice
I recently reviewed a bunch of labor positions, and will probably put an infogram together to remind myself (make a cheat sheet- I forgot everything when labor hit!). Pain management and breathing while pushing is my next project to review because I think I can do better than how that went last time.
