March 2014 Moms come in!

@debbiei8: I'm frustrated today, because my levels have been high, despite following the diet plan to an exact science. I have a feeling they'll be putting me on insulin when I go back next week.

Yeah, most diabetics, even not GD ones go to a nutritionist that specializes in it.

@MrsRcCar: I'm sorry you're going through that. If the doctor was really worried, though, you wouldn't be waiting 2 weeks to get in for the US. If baby is moving, I'm sure everything is fine. He might just be sideways.

@Dandelion: that sucks I hope you can avoid insulin, but at least it is only for a short while longer? My dad has type 1 diabetes, so I have seen how difficult it can be to deal with insulin.

  3. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: Yeah, 9 more weeks. I know it's a short time. I think I'm just more disappointed in myself about it...even though I know it's not my fault.

My MIL has sent us our baby shower gifts since she is flying to my hometown for the shower and we have to drive there. She got us a couple cute things that fit his nursery (Seattle Mariners/baseball themed) but then she sent us a diaper cake from Honest yesterday! It is so cute and has a ton of useful stuff in it! I don't want to take it apart to see all the stuff inside because it's so cute! I am trying to talk DH into letting me bring it to the shower so people can see it (it was really expensive and I'm sure my MIL would feel good seeing it there) but he's worried about space. I figure I could take it apart after the shower if needed!

Here's a picture (although it's not the best, sorry):

@Dandelion: I think it's great that you have worked hard to get it diagnosed and have been trying to eat the correct diet for so long! Sometimes it just takes a little bit more! That's why we have doctors and medicine (that's my opinion at least ) Don't beat yourself up too much!

  6. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: Yeah, I am thankful for modern medicine.

So had a checkup w the doc today. Said by belly and heart rate (164) are both great but he's worried about my weight I was barely gaining anything for so long and then a ton all at once. So now I'm waiting at the lab downstairs for my blood work (I have to get the shot for having rh neg blood and DH has pos) and just feeling so guilty and terrible.

Apparently eating a lot of fruit is not the way to go. And I've been eating a ton thinking its a low cal way to satisfy my sweet cravings.

  8. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@lemondrop: I am hoping he is just hanging out low or deep inside. I am trying not to worry too much, I know that I can't do anything about it until I see the doctor again.

@Dandelion: I am sure that if my doctor was super worried I would be getting in earlier. She said if anything changed call her ASAP and I would be fit in before my appointment. I do really like my doctor but she isn't too worried because I haven't really been "normal" this whole pregnancy. For you I hope that you can control your sugar with mindful eating and not have to manage it with medicine.

@debbiei8: Love the honest diapers! I would tell DH it IS going to shower for people to see. Plus I am sure his mother would love to see it there! If your doctor isn't worried about your little one try not to worry yourself. I know I need to take the same advice and it is harder say then do. Hopefully your DH is being super supportive of you.

@HazelEyes: I hope all your blood work comes back just fine. When do you get the shot for rh neg? I am not sure how all that works because DH and I are both positive blood types. How much weight is a ton? People gain weight in spells sometimes. I feel you on being worried though because I lost and lost for while and I gained some then not weight gain, then chunk of weight, then steady weight gain, to no weight gain in two weeks. I try to eat in moderation and keep exercising, that way I know I am doing everything in my power to do all healthy choices!

I came home early from work today. I have been crampy off and on for a while, but the doctor says just to take it easy. DH isn't feeling well either, he left work (which he NEVER does), he is presently sleeping. I am hoping when he gets up, he feels better. N is also running a fever and has been the last two days. Last night was a long night, N barely slept at all, which means mommy didn't sleep well either. N is presently napping as well. I am hoping that everyone isn't really sick. I think N is just cutting some more teeth, but it is hard because he just wants his mommy and that's it. Luckily my boss is my dad so he is pretty flexible with my work schedule.

    wow! lots going on!

@MrsRcCar: I'm sure everything is fine! Try not to worry - that's the worst part.
    @debbiei8: wow that' so nice!!
@Dandelion: fingers crossed you can go without insulin!

Things ok here! Back is super sore, chiro appt this aft so I hope that helps! Yesterday the roads were bad while I was driving to a meeting about an hour away - and it got me stressed out and I felt crampy the whole way. DH is not happy and wants me to stop driving around ASAP!

@MrsRcCar: I had to get the shot this morning. They take my blood, I had to wait around for it to go to the lab and then like an hour and half later they gave me the shot. It wasn't terrible. I am just a wuss when it comes to needles.

I had to do it some time in my third tri and will probably have to do it again after Baby is born. Awesome.

As for the weight, I don't really know what I weighed last time, but I think the doc was being cautious bc I didn't gain a lot and then big jumps the last two appts. And Baby measured a week ahead at my u/s 3 weeks ago. Sigh. I dont think I would be so upset but I really have been trying to eat well and exercise, so it felt like a slap in the face

@debbiei8: Aw love that diaper cake! I'm sure you can find room to display it somewhere.

@Dandelion: Hope you're just having an off day and can get away without the insulin!

Does anyone else have really sore nipples? I woke up this morning with sharp stabbing pains on my right nipple and noticed a couple small pimple like bumps in the location of the pain. I have not had any leaking so far so I'm not sure what is causing it? The baby I watch just threw his head back on my left nipple and I got a sharp pain but the right one just feels constantly irritated and I get sharp pains off and on. If you have had the pain what did you do to help stop or dull it?

  13. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@debbiei8: I noticed it about two weeks ago. N threw his head back into my breast and I cringed . I just do my best to protect them now.

So yesterday I felt like a lazy slob. I even posted saying how unmotivated I have been.

Well today I apparently was nesting because I just did some major marathon cleaning. Felt so good. That should buy me a week or two right? Lol

@BabyBoecksMom: Hope not! I'm tired of being pregnant, but I'd like to hold out a little while longer.

  18. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@MrsRcCar: I called about it because any touch caused shooting pain. They seem concerned that it's one side and there are bumps where the pain is so I'm going in this afternoon. I tried taking Tylenol this morning and it did nothing for the pain. Hopefully it's not a problem and the pain goes away soon.

@Bao: I know! I was so surprised by it! It's so adorable I don't want to take it apart lol!

@debbiei8: Hope they give you an answer. I am sore on both sides but it happened last time too.

Hi ladies! I'm sorry to hear about people's aches and pains and concerns - I guess we're getting to that point aren't we!! Just 6 more weeks to go for me, crazy!!
I've been feeling okay, but definitely LARGE. I have a little thing just on top of my belly button, which I can't tell if its a stretch mark or just a visible vein (my skin is basically translucent, you can see veins all over my legs all the time). I've avoided stretch marks so far (I'm pretty sure because I lost weight before getting pregnant, meaning I had room to grow into my belly!). At 34 weeks I think I was hoping that I could go the distance with no stripes! Oh well.
i went to see the Wolf of Wall Street last night, MAN that's a long movie!! My hips were SO sore by the end of it, and it was so hot in the theatre I just could not get comfortable. Good movie though!
I'm starting to get really scared about the whole delivery/having a baby thing. First timers, are you getting nervous as well? Second timers, does the fear ever go away???

  21. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@ScarletBegonia: second time momma here. Parenting is the best thing ever. I won't lie it's the hardest thing ever but it's the best thing ever. I was really nervous to give birth because of all the horror stories I heard but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. Yes it hurts like no other but you can do it! Hey I'm doing it a second time so that should say something

  22. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@ScarletBegonia: I'm absolutely terrified! Cried thinking about it the other night. I've always had a huge fear - I always wanted a scheduled c-section to avoid labour. I've gotten over that, but I'm still absolutely terrified!

  23. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Aww you will be ok, seriously! What is it exactly that worries you?

  24. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Bao: the blood! Not so much the pain, but the blood. I am terrified of blood.

  25. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Maybe I just wasn't paying attention but the only blood I saw was from my bloody show which was all contained in a pantyliner...when I was pushing there was no blood because I was watching in the mirror. I know there was blood when I tore and there had to of been once she was out but I didn't notice because I was holding my baby! Try not to worry about that, at least in my case it wasn't an issue. Now it makes me wonder though...lol

  26. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Bao: Well that's good to know! haha. Is there a ton of blood after though? Like in the first few days?? Hope I'm not grossing everyone out

  27. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Umm yeah there is but not any worse than a really heavy period. I know that they had to change my bedding once because it got all over but that's because it just wasn't contained well. So gross I know, I'm sorry! But it's not like you are gushing blood out of a horror movie or anything...but yes there will be some.

  28. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Bao: ok.. i can handle a heavy period. i have that anyways!! haha. I had mouth surgery a few years ago that had uncontrollable bleeding (and they never figured out why) so now I hate blood! My doctors/MW have done a bunch of tests to make sure I don't have some bleeding disorder. It seems to have been a fluke they think.

  29. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Yeah I was always a heavy bleeder as far as periods or getting hurt etc. You will do just fine though, I know it! It's amazing how in the moment you don't notice or care.

  30. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Try not to worry so much. I didn't notice a lot of blood when I had N. Just heavy period like bleeding after you have your LO. I thought it would be a lot worse but I was pretty happy it wasn't. I focused on the fact that at the end of all this time and work that my lo would be in my arms.

@ScarletBegonia: I am not sure fear is the word I would use. I am a little anxious about labor again. I have a huge fear of needles but it doesn't seem to phase me when it came to the epidural. I am planning to get another epidural this time. I don't do well with back pain at all.

  31. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@MrsRcCar: I think that's what I am too, anxious. Obviously I'm not like "Yes I can't wait to do this again!" lol but at least I kind of know the routine of what to expect this time. I know all labors are different and I'm just hoping I don't have to push as long this time

  32. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@Bao: I am a little anxious about the hospital I will be delivering at. When I had N I was living in a big city with a lot of resources. I live in a very rural place so the hospital is not quite as modern. They are trying to instill kangaroo care and skin to skin on the older maternity nurses.

I am also anxious about being away from N for that long. I have never been away from him longer then a night. I know that he will be fine, my mom will be caring for him and she completely knows his schedule.

Second timer here and I'm still anxious! My first time was quick and easy (induction, epidural, 9 hours, second degree tear) so I'm crossing my fingers this time will go smoothly as well. Time is just flying by, hope all you ladies are as comfortable as possible!

Had my 30 week appointment today:

Baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead. If I get on insulin, then I have to go in twice a week for non-stress tests, which is where they hook me up to a fetal monitor and heart rate monitor, to make sure baby and I are handling pregnancy well.

They're starting the paperwork this week to schedule my c section at 39 weeks. Since I'll be 39 weeks on Sunday, it'll probably be the Friday before, on the 28th...but I'll know for sure after they do the official schedule.

I also will have an ultrasound around 34 weeks.

I am getting a bit anxious as well. My first labor was so easy (only 2 pushes), the epidural was amazing and I only had one stitch, so I'm worried that this time will be the complete opposite. I guess there's no use in worrying about something I have no control over, but it still makes me a little nervous.

@Mrs. Champagne: I'm with the other ladies - there really isn't much blood... just heavy period bleeding

@ScarletBegonia: I'm a first timer and I've always been really scared of giving birth but I've been feeling SO much better about it the past few months. We've been going to our childbirth class, reading about relaxation techniques, and DH is getting super excited and educated on the topic which helps. I'm still a bit nervous though!

33ish week appointment today- things are starting to fall into place
-Getting C's new room set up (although we won't transition him until April or May), sorted baby clothes, starting my hospital bag list, picked out his name finally!
-Little man is head down, but posterior- doc said that a majority of them turn anterior before labor so not to worry about that at all yet.
-Got my 3rd trimester pertussis vaccine today, so he should have better immunity when he's born
-I've been having a couple migraines this week, so I was told that I should have a bottle of water in my hand at all times since he thinks it's dehydration causing them instead of high blood pressure/stress like last time (BP was A-ok today- yay!)
-Was told that I need to be eating more, doc wants to see me gain a pound a week at this point, I've been at 1/2 pound a week lately. Eat more? Sure!
-Got my 5k done this weekend- walked the whole thing and had a blast, glad it's off my pre-baby bucket list though! A couple more work events to get done, so I'm just trying to stay on top of everything so I can hand over anything not done when the time comes.
-One more two week appointment, then I switch to weekly appointments and things begin to get really real! I'm nervous, but super excited, trying to be in the same frame of mind as last time- this is a ride and it's easiest to go with the flow.

@lemondrop: same here...I have my 34 week next week then 36 weeks then it switches to weekly. Crazy how quickly it's coming up!

I had my baby shower this weekend! My sister did such a great job with it, she had so many cute things around the room! The food and cake were awesome! We got lots of cute outfits and a couple bigger necessary items. We are going to slowly buy baby items as we need them, but we want to get the swing and nursery things ASAP. We are picking up our glider this weekend and will order nursery/bedding things through Amazon since they are having a promotion where you get a $50 credit if you buy $250 worth of qualifying items. Our mattress and sheets, etc fall into the category so it works for us! I think we are also going to buy our swing this week because it's on sale at Target.

DH also finished painting the nursery last week so now we just need a move a few things out of there and we will be able to start putting furniture together! My mom said she is going to order the crib this week I believe!

Here's a picture of some of the decor. My sister had my MIL send baseball themed pictures of DH to fit the shower. It was so cute! The other picture is the prize basket for the diaper raffle they had. Everyone wanted to win it because there was a gift card for baseball tickets in it. My mom and sister went all out with the baseball theme, it was great!
