@Mrsjets: ahhh so much pink! i love it!! i only have 6-8 NB sleepers I think!

@Mrsjets: wow that's all newborn?! awesome! We have like 8-10 things in newborn size...I'm actually worried we have too much haha. I'm going to exchange something we got in newborn size for 0-3 months because I feel like we will get more use out of it. How big was your DS and how long did he wear newborn?

STM: when you got hand-me-downs of bigger sizes did you wash them BEFORE storing? If you did, would you wash it again after you take them out for baby to wear? I know the person really well who gave them to me and she washed all of them before hand, so I'm not really sure if I should wash them now or after storing them...or both times (they are size 6-9 months).

@debbiei8: I got tons of hand-me-downs from my SIL and I didn't wash them at all until after DD wore them. I knew they were clean and can't be bothered to re-wash things.

  4. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@Mrsjets: WOW! That's a lot of newborn stuff. Maybe she'll be small like my DD was and need to stay in newborn for 5 weeks. If that's the case, you might not have to do any laundry for a week

@Dandelion: I'm sorry you're sick, but it sounds like you're doing a great job at hanging in there.

@debbiei8: So, I know you posted this a few days ago, but I wanted to say I had a friend that did this to us. I was so upset and was ready to return it, but I went ahead and used it since DH insisted and I felt bad that my friend spent the money one it. ... and it turned out that DD LOVED the playmat our friend chose. Even at a year old, she still liked to play with it. Also, I want to say that DD couldn't care less about 1/2 of the stuff I ended up researching and meticulously picking out. It sucks because I spent so much time and effort figuring out what will be perfect for my baby (still doing it w/ this one), but you never know what your baby will actually like. So it might be a blessing in disguise?

  5. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: I wouldn't wash them if you know that she did. You'll have plenty of laundry to do once the kid starts wearing them.

  6. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

Yeah that's all newborn, I have a lot of 0-3/3 months too It gets slim after that but I hope these 2 awesome friends continue to pass their stuff down. If not at least I didnt have to buy the clothes she'll grow out of the fastest.
@debbiei8: DS was 6lb3oz and was in newborn for 2-3 weeks...I have a feeling this one is bigger though. I washed it all because some of it was in diaper boxes not Rubbermaid containers and I also wanted to wash with fragrance free detergent/bounce. 8-10 things is enough IMO - I did laundry almost everyday when DS was brand new.

@Mrsjets: What a great stash! I have a small amount of hand-me-downs from one friend and another who has BINS full that she's bringing to my shower. I'm kind of petrified by the amount actually, lol. Do you save the hand-me-downs you don't plan to use or give them away? I didn't like about 20% of the first batch I got, but I'm not sure if the proper etiquette is to save them and give them back for her future LOs?

  8. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@Mrsjets: Nice newborn stash! I don't know how much I have for LO in newborn, but it fills up the drawer I have laid out for his clothes in that size. After I got it all collected and straighted, 2 friends of mine gave me tons of nb and 0-3 boy's clothes. I still haven't even added it to the drawer, but now he's quite ready for clothes! I wonder if I'll even be able to get him in everything!

Back from my doctors appointment! Everything looks great. E is measuring right on track. I couldn't be more pleased!!
Here is a sneak peek at my little guy!

@debbiei8: I wash everything before I store it away! Just so much easier when the time comes.

I need to get my butt in gear! All my newborn clothes are still up in storage. Dh is like perhaps we should get motivated lol.

  11. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

@fussygal: I think it depends, both of these friends are done having kids and said for me to pass the clothes on or donate them when I'm done. When I lent my clothes from DS to my best friend I asked her to return them when she was done because we planned to TTC again soon. I got them back and then found out I was having a girl so I went through them and gave the nicer stuff to another friend and told her I was done with them. I donated the rest.
@Dandelion: I'm worried it won't all get worn either!
@MrsRcCar: such great news! So happy he's perfect, I knew you were just carrying well! So so happy for you

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@Mrsjets: thanks! My doctor said she couldn't figure out where I am hiding the baby lol! I was so happy that everything was ok! Little boy had me super worried, now I can relax a little. I really should be focused on getting ready for little man.

Just finished half a dozen phone calls setting up my free breast pump through insurance. I'm planning on using my Hygeia from last time and ordered new parts for it too, but want to have a back up just in case. Once I know things are going well I'll hopefully sell the new one.

I've been having some rough bh's the past few days, kiddo is definitely running low on space in there.

@MrsRcCar: YAY!!! Glad he's doing well, such a relief!

  16. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@lemondrop: I am totally paying extra to get a Hygeia. Do you love it? My insurance only covers up to a certain amount, but the difference would be $60 (medela) vs. $90 (Hygeia). I'm weirdly excited about this pump. I'll be a PT SAHM/nanny (bring baby with) and work PT on nights/weekends so I probably won't be pumping more than once a day, so it might be overkill, but I like it a lot so it's not that big of deal to me. I kinda feel like the closed system will be easier to store as well? Let me know how it works after storing it! I'm guessing I'll end up storing it about 2 years so the idea of closed system seems much better for that time than the Medelas.

@MrsRcCar: Glad things look good with baby!

@BabyBoecksMom: I am sure baby will like whatever playmat he has...I mean they are made to stimulate babies after all I guess I just really like the one I picked and since he will probably like them all the same I kinda want the one I picked out, which is totally ridiculous, but there are a couple things I think are more useful about the one I picked (like size, shape, etc). DH's aunt said she bought it because her new grandson loves his and sent a picture of him in it, which makes me feel more guilty about wanting to return it. I'll probably hold off for a bit on my decision since we won't need it right away anyways

Thanks for the washing tips. I think I'll just store them and then wash them when I take them out if I feel like they need it. They will sit there for a while and probably get a plastic-y smell that I will want to wash out anyways.

    bananas / 9118 posts

@debbiei8: Definitely worth the extra- and $30 is hardly anything! I paid $319 for mine two years ago and would do it again in a heartbeat. I looooooooove my Hygeia even though pumping isn't something I'm looking forward to doing again. I wish I had a choice of the type of pump through insurance since I really wanted another Hygeia (but double electric and free is awesome compared to last time!) but I'm hoping not to use the new one as it is.

I just bought a new accessory kit and will keep the old stuff as back ups. It still works great after sitting on my desk unused for the past year, I tested it this morning before ordering everything.

I've worked pt since #1 was born and pumping a couple times a day worked great for me, I plan on doing the same exact thing with #2 and reinforcing him with a bottle of pumped milk each day. It just made life so much easier!

My belly button has been killing me today! I normally have a lot of burning on the left side of my belly button (I have a scar there that I think is the culprit) but today the whole are around it has been super sensitive today. I'm guessing it's getting ready to pop out...it's been pretty flat for the past probably 12 weeks.

  19. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@debbiei8: oh no! that doesn't sound very pleasant! mine is pretty much out! It was flat for a while too.. but never really hurt, although sometimes when the baby kicked it it kind of kid, lol! Hope it feels better soon

Small vent: would you guys be annoyed by this? My friend due 8 weeks after me bought the same stroller/car seat as us which DH and I just kind of laughed off. But now she got the same diaper bag too. We are going to look real odd walking around town with matching car seats/strollers/bags. Ugh. She is not good at making decisions on her own, so just copied what we did. Some things she copied are totally fine and I don't care (monitors for example) but the diaper bag is kind of annoying. I pointed it out and said "this is what I just ordered" and she said "oh, I should add that one to my registry!" so she deleted the current one she had registered for and added that one! Gah. Annoying. End vent lol

  20. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: I would just consider it her looking up to you. However I would probably be bothered too! You could always return your diaper bag without telling her

  21. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Bao: haha but I really love it!! Oh well. I *kind* of think its funny because it's so obvious, but I'd prefer she didn't do it! haha.

  22. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

@debbiei8: my belly button feels really tight - like that's where I'll get stretch marks but it hasn't hurt inside.

@Mrs. Champagne: I think it's sweet that she looks up to you and think having the same stroller/car seat isn't a big deal. I would exchange the diaper bag though

  23. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

I'm 32 weeks today! This is a landmark for me since DS arrived on exactly 32 weeks.  LO is hanging tight though. I do have a feeling he'll be coming before the 39 week scheduled oust, but of course I could be wrong.

Anyone leaking? I woke up this morning with 2 wet spots on my shirt! Hasn't happened during the day though. My dietician says that pregnancy hormones are most active at night. I never leaked this much with either of the other two pregnancies.

Tomorrow I learn my official scheduled date. 7 weeks left!

  24. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: haha yeah that's annoying. I'd return my diaper bag too lol.

@Dandelion: leaking - YES! since about 28 weeks. people tell me its a good sign?
So glad to hear you've reached 32 weeks & baby is hanging in!

I have my 36 week midwife apt this morning and its the start of weeklies for me! its happening!!

  26. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@Dandelion: no leaking here but I didn't leak last time either!
@ScarletBegonia: I never leaked before giving birth but had tons of milk but I'm sure if you're leaking now you will have even more!

  27. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@Dandelion: yeah, I've been leaking a little bit since 27 weeks, I think. Kind of annoying!

  28. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@ScarletBegonia: @Bao: I leaked a bit in my past 2 pregnancies, but not this month...but both times I had an over supply of milk. I hope leaking more doesn't indicate even more milk, lol.

  29. Bao

@Dandelion: haha I have no clue!

    I had my appointment today...

March 31 is my date! My section is at 9:30 am, so no waiting all day long...yay! I hate that it's a Monday, but we will go with it. I still have a feeling I won't make it that long, anyways.

I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have an ultrasound next week. They're gonna see how big he really is and determine when to start the NST's.

Today was my last appointment with the midwife. From now on it's OB's only because of my high risk status.

    7 weeks left!

@prettylizy: I'm just glad it's not the next day. Although, April 1 IS my cousin's birthday.

@Dandelion: glad you got it scheduled!

I just got back from my 37 week appt and my dr informed me she is going out of town Friday evening - Monday evening (a holiday in my province) and that if I were to deliver that there would be an on call dr for me. I don't know why this is so scary to me but it really is, I love my dr and know she deserves a break but I'm a little anxious about this weekend now.

I picked up the paint for the nursery finally. It's ready besides the paint and she'll be in our room for months anyways. I used the same color scheme from J's nursery but swapped out his blues for purples. I'm so excited! The moss green will be 3 walls and the other colors will be a striped wall like this one. The last pic is J's room - I wanted them to 'go' together.

  34. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

    @Dandelion: wooo exciting!

@Mrsjets: ooooo love it!! J's room is so coool!

I'm not sure what happened, but I feel more comfortable this week than I have in a long time, despite the fact that by belly is huge! Still have 7 weeks to go!

@Dandelion: Yay for getting it schedule! Looks like you'll end up delivering before me. I'm still holding on to my actual due date being March 30th, which means that she'll probably be late.

  36. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

    @Mrsjets: Love the stripes!

@Dandelion: Wow, that's exciting to have a solid date!

@BabyBoecksMom: Do you think baby dropped? I've been having that uncomfortable, hard to breathe feeling lately so I can't wait until she drops!

  37. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@fussygal: I think that might be part of it, although, I can't really tell a difference other than the fact that I can breathe a little easier.

So ladies as I type this update I am in L&D. I am presently 3 to 4 cm dilated and 60% effaced. They are trying to stop labor, hopefully I will go home tonight. However I will be on bed rest until further notice. Little E is trying to make an early appearance but hopefully we can push that back some. I have been feeling awful since yesterday. They want me to get until at least Friday. Down side to where I live is there no NICU. They only have a special care nursery here. I am a little freaked out right now but I am in capable hands.
