@Dandelion: haha, most days I walk like an old lady, I blame the excitement of race day that kept me going. I think today is the first day I haven't been super sore hobbling around afterwards! I'm just happy that I can retire the elliptical/treadmill now without feeling too guilty.

@debbiei8: looooooove the baseball theme! I'm hoping that we'll get a chance to see the Brewers in March either before or after baby arrives. Hoping he shows up a bit early since it will be more socially acceptable to have some Leinenkugels then We always have such a great time at their Spring Training games!

  3. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@lemondrop: That's awesome! The funny thing is DH is a big Mariners fan, so there were more Mariners touches than Brewers, but my family lives near Milwaukee and there are lots of Brewers fans. We usually try to go to a game or two...but since we live in Iowa we usually go to several minor league (it's a Twins minor league team) games over the summer. My DH's best friend is the biggest Brewers fan ever so we like to go to games with him.

@debbiei8: I love minor league games! I like how easy going they are, very much like Spring Training. Our goal is usually to hit up as many teams as possible since we have so many in the area in March- my husband is a Cleveland fan and I'm a Rockies fan so whoever is playing them we see, we usually skip the Diamondbacks since we can see them anytime. Of course since having our son, we've gone from 20-something games in March to maybe 6, and I'm sure this year will be even less but I think it will be worth it March is the one and only reason we live in Phoenix (well jobs too, and October through May isn't too shabby either!)

@debbiei8: @lemondrop: eeek i have my 34 week appt next week then she said we will schedule all my weekly ones from 36 weeks on!

How is everyone's BP? Mine has been mega low, but today it was 117/75.... I feel like that's pretty normal! Now I don't want it to get too high!

@Mrs. Champagne: mine is usually 100/80 or 70? Or...something like that

  7. lemondrop

@Mrs. Champagne: mine was 118/82 this morning, the doctor was happy with it.

I'm either 31 or 32 weeks, depending on if you go by the date of my last period or the date of conception. (I'm assuming 31 weeks, since it will help me to not get my hopes up if she comes late). I'm also trying to really crack down on what I'm eating and drinking lots of water in a futile attempt to keep the belly small and avoid stretch marks... although they are really threatening me around my belly button. .... but someone needs to polish off the left over cake and cookies from DD's party this weekend, right?

@lemondrop: more food? Bring it! haha And way to go on the 5k. My pelvic pain is back, but not nearly as bad as it was with W at this point. I could barely stand up for her party this weekend, much less finish walking a 5k.

    @debbiei8: Such a cute theme!!

@Mrs. Champagne: My blood pressure is usually low, but it seems to sit around that lately.

Our 4th birthing class (out of 6) is tonight and it's all about breastfeeding - I'm excited for this one! I also have my 32-ish week appointment tomorrow. I can't believe it's all so close!

Two weekends ago we got the nursery furniture all set up and now we're just shopping around for a few finishing touches. I'm still on the hunt for a long and low wooden dresser to paint, but so far no luck.

Also, TMI but has anyone else noticed a big increase in discharge the past few weeks? I know the increase in volume is normal but mine has been a less creamy than in the pervious two trimesters, (more liquid-y?) and it's constant! I feel like I need to wear a pantyliner all day everyday. Things are just so...wet all the time. I'm going to talk to the OB about it tomorrow, too.

@Mrs. Champagne: Not sure of my numbers, but they always tell me it's good!

@lemondrop: 5K is very impressive! The past three weeks anything more than grocery shopping sounds too taxing

  10. Bao

@fussygal: Yup always feeling wetness, gah gross. I've had this almost the whole pregnancy though and the same with my last but it has increased over the past month or two.

  11. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@Bao: glad to know I'm not alone! Can't wait for that constant wetness to be gone!

Had our 32 week appointment today and everything was looking good. My BP was 100/60 and baby girl was kicking around like crazy when getting her HB checked - even the doctor chuckled at the bouncing belly lol.

  12. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@fussygal: @Bao: I have had a lot of wetness throughout my whole pregnancy too, but it has gotten worse the past couple of weeks. It also seems like it goes through times of more mucus and less, I'm not sure why but my doctor doesn't seem concerned.

I feel like I hit a wall this week. I'm SO tired. And I woke up last night to the worst back pain ever. Someone said my bump looked a little lower though, so maybe he just moved down a little bit. That would be nice for my heartburn! I feel like that has gotten worse over the past week too. We spent the weekend traveling so I'm hoping just relaxing this weekend will help with the exhaustion!

We did pick up our glider for baby's room, but I'm still waiting for my husband to put it together. We got a glider/recliner from BRU and I love it. The awesome thing is with gift cards we only paid 1/4 of the cost of the chair!

  13. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@debbiei8: Awesome deal on the glider!

I asked my doctor yesterday about the increase in watery discharge vs. thicker and he said that it's totally normal!

    Man this thread moves fast!
So we've narrowed our name choices to Leah, Brooke or Aubrey. We figure we'll decide once we meet her. DS seems to prefer Leah and has been saying it even without being prompted - it's cute.

@lemondrop: congrats on the 5K! There's no way I'd be able to do that now!

@debbiei8: cute shower theme! Also, I love my glider and still read to DS in it every night - I'm unsure if we should by him a new chair and move the glider into the nursery or buy a new one for #2.

@BabyBoecksMom: I'm so scared I'll get stretch marks this time too - I've been trying to eat less sugar, which is my vice after DS goes to bed. I feel like I deserve it after the long days though I think you look fantastic!

@fussygal: ugh the wetness is the worst, I've been using a liner pretty much the whole time.

Hey everyone! I had my shower this weekend and it was so awesome!! My hosts stated in the invitation that I just wanted books as gifts, but I guess people can't help themselves, because I got lots of clothes and 12 (!!!) A & A muslin wraps, plus a bunch of other random things. Nothing big, as we're borrowing most big items from friends, but still I feel like I cleaned up huge!! And everyone did bring a book, including several that were ordered in specially from Canada because they don't sell them in Australia - some childhood favourites of mine
I've had a nesting rush today and made a massive list of what I have left to do - so much laundry, cooking, cleaning and organising!! Unfortunately, my energy only lasted as long as it took to write the list, not actually do any of the things on the list.
My husband and I had a silly argument tonight which made me cry, and the cry turned into a massive emotional outburst! I didn't realise that I'd been keeping a lot of stress and anxiety inside, and I guess it needed to come out! Poor husband, he thought he'd really messed up when in fact it was just my emotions getting out of control. I'm scared about the birth and the newborn that comes after - I guess I need to talk about it more, and not just on HB!
Hope you are all doing well xx

@ScarletBegonia: Your shower sounds like it was awesome.. and that's so nice you got some books from Canada. Anything super cute? I'm from Canada too
I'm with you on the emotional outburts! The other night I was SOBBING because I was "bored". I think I'm really just terrified of everything. Poor DH. He was trying not to smirk but also trying to comfort me.. lol.

Things are going pretty good over here.. few more weeks of work left, and I'm 34 weeks this week.. crazy! My back is sore, but probably made worse because DH and I installed flooring in our basement all weekend.. woops

I've been ordering things like crazy.. finally found a diaper bag yesterday! And I have my second shower next weekend with my local friends. It's going to be pretty small, but should be fun and my mom and MIL are coming for it too

Hope everyone's Monday is off to a good start!

@Mrs. Champagne: we are buying lots as well! We have a shipment coming everyday this week from Target/Amazon because we kept finding good deals and ordering them!

I think I'm going to get a Starbucks gift card for my UPS man for all the deliveries he's making...we don't pay shipping at Target or Amazon so we save a ton and I thought it might be a nice gesture because he has to lug things up stairs.

@ScarletBegonia: sounds like you had a great shower! I feel you on the emotional out bursts. Dh is good and just taking it and calming me down. I feel bad sometimes but not much I can do until hormones relax. My BIL says I just get extra feisty when I am pregnant. Lol.

I haven't been buying too much this time around. I have been really focused on saving money because of all our expenses. I am a little afraid of being off on maternity leave, I like pulling my own money in. However I am looking forward to spending time with my two little boys.

Dh, N, and I went up to visit DH's family. It was so much fun to see N and his cousin intract. I can't wait to see hi we will be with his little brother.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

@ScarletBegonia: Sounds like your shower was fun! 12 A&A blankets is awesome. We have a ton of shipments coming in this week, too. It's like Christmas in the mail everyday

@Mrs. Champagne: Flooring - that's ambitious! Are you guys doing a big conversion/remodel in your basement? I remember you mentioning some work in there before.

@debbiei8: You're so nice! I always feel awkward when I get a lot of deliveries close together and just try to avoid the delivery person, lol.

  21. Mrs. Champagne

@fussygal: We are finishing the whole basement! We have a 3 bedroom bungalow. One room was a spare, one ours and one an office. So we changed the spare to the baby room, and now we have done two more spare rooms downstairs. So we are in a mad rush to finish before baby arrives! Now that flooring is done the end is in site though!

  22. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: Having two extra rooms in the basement sounds so awesome! We have three bedrooms with a similar set-up (office and spare bedroom). Turning the spare room into the nursery has created an excess of junk throughout the rest of the house, even after one big Goodwill trip. We need to minimize more, lol!

@ScarletBegonia: what a fun shower, glad you got the books you wanted! 12 a&a blankets is so awesome!

@Mrs. Champagne: I have a huge shopping list - I should really just order online and get it over with! You're so smart.

@MrsRcCar: I'm so excited to see my 2 Lo's together too!

Had my 36 week appt today, up 32 lbs and am 3 cm dilated. Dr said if I want to keep her in to take it easy, stop lifting DS and a big no to sex. Ugh, I really need to work on my to do list...

  24. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Mrsjets: oh wow! did you have DS on time or early? I've been getting most things online. We live in a small town so I try to shop local when I can, but no where local sells certain things I need so amazon has been awesome. Although amazon.ca kind of blows in comparison to amazon.com. haha

@fussygal: yeah it should be great! our parents always come visit at the same time, so we really need two guest rooms. we also have a pull out in the office so that if a 3rd couple were to come visit we'd be all set too! We've had to throw out a ton of crap.. and luckily part of the basement reno's includes a huge closet to put our crap in.. hah!

@Mrsjets: I can't believe you're already 36 weeks!! Take advantage of your orders to take it easy

    pear / 1699 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: I had DS at exactly 38 weeks. I totally agree about amazon.ca, so disappointing!

@fussygal: lol yes! I told DH but DS isn't as understanding

I feel like a bad person for even thinking this, but my DH's aunt sent us a playmat as a gift today but it is not the one we registered for (and definitely not one I would buy) and I'm kinda disappointed/upset about it. I did a lot of research on baby gear and picked the one I really wanted, but now I feel obligated to use the one she bought us since she obviously meant well and I don't want to hurt her feelings if she sees it not being used. Has anyone gotten gifts that were different from the item you registered for? What did you do, suck it up and use it or return it for the item you really wanted?

  28. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@debbiei8: Did she buy it at a place where you have a registry or give you a receipt? I know for our wedding Target was very generous and didn't require a receipt for returns/exchanges from registry items. Maybe other places will be like that? This is also a fear of mine! MIL has already suggested and asked me about a few items that are major alternatives to what we've picked out and registered for (don't think she's even looked at our registries). With our shower so close it makes me nervous!

  29. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@fussygal: ya she bought it at a place we are registered at, but I guess I'm just worried about hurting her feelings if she knows we aren't using it/returned. Maybe I care too much or am overreacting a bit but now I'm stressed and upset about it. And of course DH doesn't think it matters but it kinda does to me...hello pregnancy hormones lol.

  30. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@debbiei8: I totally meant to address that part in my last comment and forgot (talk about pregnancy hormones! Lol). Does she live close enough that she'll notice? If not I wouldn't worry and would exchange it! But at the same time I also understand being worried she might see a different one in a picture on FB or something. You can always tell her that for one reason or another you decided that one wouldn't work and needed to go with a "different" one (the one you wanted!).

  31. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@fussygal: She doesn't live close to us, but she could see a picture on Facebook, although I'm not sure she would notice honestly...I think I'm going to return it for the one I want. The other issue is it is my MIL's sister and they are really close. I don't know if she would want us to keep it since her sister gave it to us. But now I'm starting to wonder if his aunt didn't see the one we picked on our registry...the picture is small and hard to make out and the description isn't great on it. Maybe she bought this one because she didn't think we had asked for one and thought it was good to have. Sleeping on it maybe helped me decide to just get the one I wanted (since there were specific reasons I picked that one). But I need to talk to DH about it.

  32. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

Sleep has become terrible for me over the past couple of nights. I think I woke up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom, and that was after taking over an hour to fall asleep! Every time I roll over or move I have to pee, so it wakes me up. The night before was even worse though. Of course I seem to sleep better in the morning right before I need to wake up! Ugh.

I think I'm drinking too much water before bed and at night when I get up...but I'm so thirsty!

  33. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@debbiei8: I think just get the one you want!! Your MIL will never notice it's not the correct one, and DHs aunt probably wouldn't either if you don't mention anything. People aren't that observant I find!

  34. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@Mrsjets: take it easy lady! I know that's easier said then done with another lo at home but you got some baking left to do on the new lo.
@debbiei8: I am glad you came to your choice. My family knows that I do a lot of research on things for N so they either stick to a list or include the receipt in case it doesn't have everything I am looking for. My whole family is like this tho with all their kids. Sleep does get a wee bit hard. I cut way back on water (fluids) before bed because I just wasn't sleeping enough! I wake up really thirsty now tho.

Lately I can barely keep my eyes open long enough to get N down to sleep. I think I maybe working a little too hard these days. Dh was like "Hun, just lay down with N, let me take care of x,y, and z." It was so nice! Usually he isn't like that; he can be a little clueless sometimes. I just think it has really dawned on him that there is about to be two little boys in our life and not just one anymore. Also I think he is starting to stress out about the ultrasound on Thursday. What it is that has him feeling more helpful, I am enjoying it!

  35. catomd00

    grapefruit / 4418 posts

@debbiei8: Get the one you want! She likely won't notice and if she does it's not the end of the world. She probably went to the store and they didn't have the one you registered for so picked a different one. If it were me, I'd want you to have the one you wanted and it wouldn't bother me in the least if you exchanged it.

  36. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

Well, they put me on insulin today. I take a fast acting one right before dinner and then a long lasting one right before bed. After dinner and my morning fast numbers seem to be my worst, so we're hoping to combat that.

The nurse was also concerned with my congestion and wheezing, so she told me to call my ob and ask if there is anything stronger than robitussin or delsym I can take. Apparently, not being able to sleep at night for not breathing is bad.

So, now that I'm insulin, I'll be starting twice a week NSTs. That, plus weekly diabetes appointments, progesterone shots until 36 weeks (only 5 more of those!) and my usual weekly appointment, I'm a full time patient! I'm just looking forward to delivering, because right now a newborn sounds like a lot less work than being pregnant!

I just have to keep counting down the weeks...only 7 left!

  37. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

@Dandelion: well it's good that you're being looked after properly. Sounds like a ton of work and sacrifice - here's hoping the next few week wiz by! I'm ready to be done too...

  38. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@Dandelion: oh gosh!! hoping the weeks fly by. looks like you are being well taken care of though. thinking uneventful thoughts for you

  39. ScarletBegonia

    persimmon / 1339 posts

Okay, at nearly 36 weeks I'm calling it and saying I'm officially uncomfortable. I've had a good run, this has been a mostly uneventful and actually quite enjoyable pregnancy, but I'm getting close to being done. I am congested at night, every time I roll over one sinus gets blocked...I have hip pain pretty much constantly...round ligament pain that is worsened by exercise...sleeping like crap...and of course the never ending fear of labour & delivery which is starting to reach epic proportions.
I know I shouldn't complain when so many people have it SOOO much worse than I do - but what is HB for!?
Hope you are all coping okay with the last few weeks/months!

  40. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

So I sorted through the hand me downs and gifts we've received so far and have washed the newborn stuff. It seems like so so much, I only had a few newborn size items for DS - and I have 23 newborn size sleepers for DD! Now onto the 0-3 months...I think I'm officially nesting.
