    @Dandelion: Yay - congrats!!

@debbiei8: Sorry to hear about the positive result I'm sure it won't change labor plans too much, but it might restrict movement since you'll be hooked up to the IV? Not sure, but hoping it isn't a bother/hinderance for you!

  3. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: What are your labor plans? It'll definitely require a little extra monitoring from now til the end of your pregnancy, and maybe some meds, if it's bad. But, as far as labor, it really won't change much, except to expect them to check your baby's glucose levels not long after birth.

  4. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@Dandelion: honestly my plan is to just go with the flow and do whatever feels best at the time. I assume I'll get an epidural at some point, but would like to hold off a bit on it if possible. They have whirlpool tubs, birthing balls, etc and allow us to walk around so I would like to try different things out. I think the big thing is that my mom mentioned they need 4 hours of labor for the antibiotics...so will I have to go in right away? I had kinda planned to labor at home a while.

  5. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@debbiei8: ah I read your post wrong...I was reading that you failed the glucose test. Yeah you'll have an iv and have to get antibiotics. Not sure how long though.

  6. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@fussygal: I think they have portable IVs so hopefully it won't be too bad? I'm just wondering if I won't be able to labor at home...I had kinda planned to do it at home for a while.

@Dandelion: no problem! It's not the worst thing that could happen obviously, just wish I didn't have to deal with it

  7. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@debbiei8: I'm not sure how long they need you there or if you'll be able to walk around , but there's a good chance you can labor at home for a while before coming in since most first-time labors still take a while.

39 weeks tomorrow and had my appt today. A solid 3 cm dilated with a low, in position baby. I feel weird - I have a tight feeling in my lower abdomen, get BH contractions constantly and just feel off. Dr said it could be today, could be a week.

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@Mrsjets: Ooooh - here's hoping it's sooner rather than later! Sounds like it's close either way.

@debbiei8: Sorry that you tested postive for Group B. I got the antibotics for it too since my results hadn't come back. It didn't really change my plans at all since I already had an IV for fluids.

@Dandelion: Congrats on the house!! That is great news, I am not gonna lie I am a little jelly. lol. Right now we live with my folks and I would love to close on a house already. Problem for us is finding one that DH and I can agree on.....

@Mrsjets: Perhaps baby will make their appearance sooner rather then later! Congrats on getting to 39 weeks!

Little E is getting stronger everyday. He is off oxygen and just needs to work on taking his full feeds. They are getting an echo done because they can hear a small heart murmur but they are not too concerned. It took the doctor a while to even hear it today when I was there. Apparently E doesn't like to eat for anyone but mommy. I told him that he needs to eat for the nurses too because mommy can't be there for every feeding because N isn't allowed on the floor with me. However who am I kidding, if he listened to me, he would still be baking until after March the 1st. I have been really lucky that my mom can care for N so I can spend a lot of time at the hospital. I do feel pretty guilty tho. I want to be home spending time with N and keeping his routine near the same but it breaks my heart to leave E at the hospital. I will be much happier once he is home and we can adjust our life a little bit.

I'm (finally!) having my shower tomorrow and I can't wait to see all of our friends and family travelling in for it. We're going to have six friends crammed into our house this weekend but I'm happy to have one last "hoorah" (sadly, sans alcohol for me!) with them. I'm also happy because after tomorrow I'll know what we need to buy to have everything DONE. I've been obsessively stalking my registry, but people aren't here aren't very good about using registries so it will all be a big surprise as to what we receive.

I start weekly appointments on Wednesday (also have to get my GBS test then - blah). I'm feeling pretty good with the exception of a few light period-like cramps across my lower abdomen. They've come on at random times the past two weeks but usually don't last longer than a few minutes. They don't hurt but isn't a great feeling obviously! I assume it's just growing pains. Still no Braxton Hicks (that I've noticed anyway).

I can't believe that March is NEXT WEEK!!

@Mrsjets: Oh, exciting!! 3 cm is awesome to have out of the way.

@MrsRcCar: So glad to hear good updates on the little guy! Do they have an estimated timeline for when they're hoping he'll be home?

  14. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@Mrsjets: awesome! hopefully things keep progressing well!

@MrsRcCar: I am hoping it doesn't require a lot of changes! I didn't really have a birth plan (trying to be flexible since I know I don't really have control over it), so I really can't get upset over something changing, I think it's just more of an annoyance to have to deal with it! Glad E is doing well...hopefully he gets stronger with each feed and can come home soon. It sounds difficult to balance both kids and I'm sure you feel overwhelmed. Hopefully you are getting rest too!

@fussygal: have fun at your shower! It will be nice to get those things checked off your list!

We are getting so close guys! Sorry I really do try and keep up on this thread but with a toddler, and us all being sick plus baby prep it's busy around here!

Is everyone done with their nursery? We just have to hang curtains and then we are done! I have to put a few odds and ends away but she won't be sleeping in there for several months anyway, so I'm not worried about the last few things.

I've packed A's overnight bag for when she goes to my moms, it's all getting real! I have my strep B test Monday and to check if I'm dilated at all. I was at a 1 or 2 at this point with A, and 50%. I know it doesn't really mean anything but I think I will be bummed if there's nothing going on down there! Where is everyone else at dilation wise?

  16. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

@MrsRcCar: oh poor little E. I hope he grows out of the murmur - I've heard they are actually pretty common among young babies. It must be so so hard to balance everything right now.

@fussygal: happy shower day! Hope you get everything you need and have a blast.

@debbiei8: I don't think it will change anything too much bedsides the iv - which you would need with an epi anyways. Here's hoping everything is smooth

@Bao: I haven't finished the nursery either, like you baby won't be in it (besides to get changed/dressed ect) for at least 4 -6 months. Also, I'm so so nervous about being a sahm of a toddler and a newborn - I have no idea how I will balance it all!

@Mrsjets: I'm worried about staying home too, and to take two kids out by myself? Ha!

@MrsRcCar: hopefully he gets to go home soon! Glad he is doing well though
Things just moving along here. My MW doesn't do cervical checks till 39-40 weeks so no idea where I'm at. But baby is really low and I'm having a lot of Braxton hicks. I predict I'm going to go late though, but who knows! I'm up about 24 lbs as of my appointment today. Hoping k stay around this and don't gain more!

Hope everyone is doing well. Home stretch ladies!

@Bao: I still need to do a few things in the nursery. The big thing is we still need our changing table. I'm planning on using an Expedit (from IKEA) but our nearest IKEA is 4 hours away. Luckily I friend is going this upcoming weekend to get stuff, so she is going to bring it back for us! Then once we get that up we will hang the artwork/decor. I want the room finished before he comes because my mom will be staying in there on an air mattress. We have lots of boxes around right now, so finishing it will just make it more useable. We only have 2 rooms so we will need the space!

I'm still working on some organizing, but it's pretty close to done!

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

No real updates - I have the bedding in but no where near finished. Not sure how much to do if we're going to be moving soon.

@debbiei8: better get the expedit while you can! They are discontinuing it soon.

Hey! I was 38 weeks yesterday and no real updates - my weekly visits are pretty meh - how are you feeling, any new symptoms, measure the blood pressure and the belly. I've seriously had NO symptoms. No show, no mucous, no contractions, not even any BH! This baby will be inside me til it goes to college.
Everything is washed and more or less set up, and I have a few more freezer meals to make, but otherwise things feel ready. We'll see what happens from here on out!
For the STMs here, are there any thoughts on the Bjorn One carrier vs the Ergo? I have a wrap carrier that I want to use in the beginning, but my husband wants a more structured carrier and he can't decide which one to get. Any advice?

  22. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@BabyBoecksMom: OMG I know. I just found this out this morning and was so upset. I am watching the stock because my friend is going this weekend. Luckily she is going to Chicago, so there are 2 options. It looks like each IKEA there has pretty high stock, so I hoping it will be ok. I just hope a ton of people don't run out to get them!

  23. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@ScarletBegonia: we haven't used it yet with the baby obviously, but we got the Ergo and my DH likes it. He tried it on and said it felt good. I'm not sure how often he will baby wear though.

  24. lemondrop

    bananas / 9118 posts

@ScarletBegonia: not familiar with the new Bjorn, but the old style lasted us all of 2 weeks before causing us backaches. Love, love, love our Ergo, can't wait to start using it again, I miss using it with our toddler when I got too big to wear him.

Just tying up loose ends this weekend- got a new fridge to be delivered tomorrow, wrapping up work, have one more week left on-site if I last. Having some pretty painful random contractions that make me pause and have hit that 37 week general constant discomfort and crap sleep that I remember pretty well from last time. I'm nervous about when and how labor is going to start, but looking forward to getting to know our second boy.

  25. Mrsjets

    pear / 1699 posts

@BabyBoecksMom: do you still have the list of us/due dates?

@ScarletBegonia: I really want an Ergo, I'm just scared to spend the $ on it and it not work for us. I have hinted to our families so maybe I'll receive it as a gift

@lemondrop: yay for 1 more week! You can do it! I'm totally with you on the painful contractions, constant discomfort and crap sleep, hope this time flies by for you

  26. ScarletBegonia

    persimmon / 1339 posts

Thanks for the advice - still not sure which way to go - price wise they are about the same so I don't really care, I'm going to let my husband do the research and purchase, like he did for the stroller & car seat!
We should make an "arrivals march 2014" thread soon - we're 2 down already and I'm sure they will start coming fast & furious soon (or is that just wishful thinking on my part....?)

@Mrsjets: yes, but it's on my laptop at work so I'll list them tomorrow

@Bao: OUr nursery is a disaster! We decided to move so I am waiting til the new paint and new carpet is put in the new house before I take all the nursery apart here and transplant it here. So probably not til April. Til then, baby will just sleep in our little cradle thing in our room. Oh well

I have my next appointment tomorrow. I am hoping they will check my progress but I know they wont. My cousin from out of town adopted twins here in our city this week and has been staying with them at my parents house and I have visited everyday. OMG it is heaven you guys! Tiny little 4 pound twins. I've never held a baby that small, they are just like dolls. But it is making me so much more anxious and impatient for my baby.

Oh and I've been having contractions during the night. Like I'll feel fine during the day. Just some period cramping here and there but nothing else but right when I get into bed I start with the contractions and badddddddddddddd pains. But nothing ever comes out of it. It's killing me lol!

  29. anonysquire

    cantaloupe / 6923 posts

Oh by the way everyone, should we start putting plastic sheets or garbage sacks on our beds and cars yet? I was riding in my moms new car yesterday and realized how horrible I would feel if my water broke in it. So what is the protocol for this? Sit in a garbage bag lol?

  30. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@anonysquire: I put a towel in my car this morning! I have been meaning to do it for a couple weeks now, but just got around to it.

We have some puppy training pads from trying to prevent our cat from peeing behind the couch so I think I'm just going to lay those down under my spot on the bed. I might have DH do it tonight just in case...I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow! I'm worried about getting too hot with a waterproof mattress cover, but maybe that would be better?

  31. anonysquire

    cantaloupe / 6923 posts

@debbiei8: Hey I'm 37 weeks tomorrow too! The puppy pads is a good idea. Maybe I'll get some of those for my car.

Ugh ladies I am feeling so crampy today

So next Sunday is a new moon. I went into labor with DS and S both on New Moons. It'll be interesting to see if any of us go into labor then. there's not another one until my scheduled c section
    we're almost done!

  33. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@Dandelion: Oh that will be interesting to see! I better plan on having everything done by next Sunday just in case There is a full moon the day before my due date...if I haven't had him by then I'm convinced we are going to end up going in that day even though I would rather avoid L&D on a full moon night because they usually run out of beds and I don't want to be stuck in a triage room (we saw them and they totally suck compared to the regular rooms).

DH and I have had colds the majority of the week. He started with it and I had sore throat for several days (that has mostly gone away now), but my nose is super stuffed up and it's making me feel kinda crappy. I was hoping it was getting better like my throat but now I feel like it is getting worse

Had our shower yesterday and it was great! As I figured we received SO MANY clothes as gifts. Not to mention the hand-me-downs that our friends brought to town with them! I'm doing tons of loads of laundry right now Unfortunately we didn't get much of the gear we'd registered for so we have a big Target trip in our plans this week!

@anonysquire: wow, 4 lb twins! Sounds so cute and teeny! Jealous that you're getting a baby fix

  35. ScarletBegonia

    persimmon / 1339 posts

Ok, I'm at that tipping point - I think my fear of labour has been officially surpassed by my desire to get this baby out!!!

  36. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

Well, the nursery still has a ways to go, but it's coming together. We finally got the dresser and I loaded it with all of W's old newborn and 0-3 month clothes. I feel so nostalgic and so ready to meet this new girl now.

I have had 3 friends that were due in March have their babies already, so I'm pretty sure that means that I'll keep or pass my due date. Oh well, the longer she cooks, the better, right??

  37. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@debbiei8: @anonysquire: I left a towel in my car in case my water broke (which it finally did at 40w4d), but honestly, it wasn't as much as you thought it would be. It broke at a restaurant, so I just went to the bathroom and put a bunch of toilet paper in my underwear until we got to the car. Even though it felt like a lot, it really wasn't. When we got back to my house, I ditched the toilet paper and put a thick pad on and that worked until I got to the hospital (40 min away).

@Dandelion: I'm curious to see how many babies will be born, too. Although, I'm not holding out any hope for me because ... well, my doctor told me it's going to be at least another 3-4 weeks.

  38. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@BabyBoecksMom: good to know! I wasn't sure what to expect. DH is more concerned about our mattress because it's memory foam. I'm not sure we want any amount fluid getting in there...not sure how it would react!

  39. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@debbiei8: We have a memory foam one as well so I completely understand! I put a mattress protector on ours because, between the chance of my water breaking, a kid peeing, pooping or spilling something on it at some point was pretty high. haha
