March 2014 Moms come in!

@bao I went by LMP just because I could have O'd on Saturday or Sunday and we DTD both days (and days leading up to both days), so conception could have been either day or even Monday. I'm pretty sure if conception day was Sunday my due date stays the same (March 17) but Saturday would put it a day earlier. But I O'd on CD 13 or 14 so that's why it doesn't change much. If I O'd later I'm sure it would change the date.

@Bao: When I went in for my blood test, my dr asked when my LMP was, but when I told her I Od late, she made my "cycle" 20 days to account for it. That's what gave me 3/29.. But when I use the various calculators, it ranges from late March through the first few days in April.

Oh, and my next appt isn't until 8/13, so I feel you! I didn't do much other than give blood, she told me not to tell aaaanyone yet, and to stay away from a few foods. I was expecting a little more, but then again she did squeeze me in that day.

Hi ladies!!! I just got my BFP yesterday so I'm dipping my toes in the water. I'm too excited to stay away from this board! I've been reading to catch up and can't wait to get to know you ladies more! Congrats to you all!!

EDD if you have one: March 27 from LMP

When Did You Find Out?: 14 DPO

Child Number: This will be our first! We did have a m/c at 6 weeks in March though.

    Where You Live: Oregon!

What kind of provider will you see?: Obgyn

When's Your First Appointment?: I'm going to schedule it tomorrow. I'm hoping they can get me in to do blood tests early since I had the m/c it would really help my peace of mind.

What kind of birth do you want?: Hopefully natural but we'll see!

What You're Most Excited For: All sorts of things, feeling kicks, something that looks like me and DH in one tiny package, little arms hugging me, tiny shoes, all of it!

What You're Most Scared About: M/c

Symptoms so far: Four days of spotting that seems to have stopped today, very mild cramping and just the smallest bit of nausea.

Any fun plans for the summer (or winter in Aus)?: We already had out big vacation in June, so now I'm excited to spend nights outside and making food with all the seasonal fruits and veggies!

My next apt will be this week sometime - my GP practice doesn't take appointments far in advance and my doctor told me to come in at 8 weeks, so that's wednesday! I'm going to call today to book in. I hope I can get an u/s, but GPs can be weird about it here - i'm sure of my dates so she may make me wait til the NT scan @12/13 weeks. I hope not, i need to know there is something there!!

First sonogram appt tomorrow!! Can't wait to see that little heartbeat and get a more accurate due date.

Been so tired lately running after N who just started to army crawl and likes to chew on anything he isn't suppose to - the rug, wires, my slippers, the dog's toys...

For those of you getting ultrasounds, what week do they do the first one? I'm going to a birthing center and each ultrasound is extra and not included in the main package, so I'm trying to figure out what week would be a good one to get one!

@Bao: My appt is April 13th. I'm going to see if my doctor will do the blood test that will let us know the gender - he he. As of right now, I'm not sure what I feel I'm having. I kind of feel it's a boy, but I don't know if that's just wishful thinking or not.

@BabyBoecksMom: I didn't know they could do that, interesting!

Ladies, I'm completely lost on making my first appointment! We moved fairly recently so I don't have a doctor locally. Ideally I'd like to get seen earlier at least for some blood tests since I had my m/c in March, I'm a bit nervous. I've already called one OBGYN and they said they don't do this but instead just see me somewhere between 8-12 weeks. I know that's pretty standard, but is it really too much for me to push for? Ack, so confused by all the options!

@Fussygal I would do whatever you feel is right and would make you feel better! I understand about being worried (I also have had some serious health problems the last 3 years) when I found out I was pregnant I was excited and worried at the same time. I had the first visit with my midwife at only 3 1/2 weeks pregnant and I am getting a full check up by a nurse practitioner in 2 days to make sure I am healthy and ok. My actual first OBGYN visit about the baby is not until August 15th though (at about 8 weeks).

There are people you can see early!

  12. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@BronxvilleBump: Thanks! I went ahead and made an appointment at a different office. They can't see me until 8/22 when I'm 9 weeks, but they did say that they'd try to get me in this week for some blood work. Makes me feel a lot better!

@fussygal: oh good! I'm glad they are at least trying to fit you in earlier. When I went for my annual, pre-ttc, my ObGyn said that she wanted me in the day I got a BFP to get blood taken. So I would think they should be able to squeeze you in for a quick appt. For your sanity/stress level if anything, knowing your history!

@Bao: we've had a boy name for years! girls names are going to be realllllllllly tricky!!

@Mrs. Champagne: It's funny we had a boy and girl name forever (used the girl one, obviously) but we changed our mind about the boys name!

  17. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

@bao we have had our girl name picked for a couple years. I was actually upset because a former coworker used it last year and it is not a common girl name. Oh well we are still using it

We have been talking about boy names all weekend and I think we finally picked a possibility today. We had some issues because of our last name. All the names we like end in an "en" sound and our last name starts with In...so I feel like the sounds don't work together. Idk if we will stick with the boy name we talked about today, but at least we have a couple to pick from now!

@Bao: Dh and I have been keeping a list for a while now. We have narrowed our choices down again. I am wishing for a little girl but part of me would love another little boy. We will be so happy either way.

Wednesday is our ultrasound. I am so nervous about it but I just have to think that everything is just fine. Dh and I are hoping to meet our nephew this upcoming Monday.

@fussygal: Congrats! I hope they can get you in for labs (tbh I don't see why they can't.. it doesn't take a full apt slot for them). My MW came & saw me for a consult at 5 1/2 weeks (she asked if I needed her sooner but was fine waiting) and then had my first "in take" appt just a few days past 6 weeks. I do hope you can get in soon!

@Bao: We have some pretty good ideas of what our names will be already!

  20. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@runsyellowlites: I wish I could be seen that early! That sounds wonderful and like they're really attentive. I hope my experience is similar!

We have a few names but are nowhere near being close on agreeing on many - lol! I really like old fashioned sounding names and DH likes those that are more classic.

  21. futuremama

We have a ton of names that we don't like (or one of us doesn't like). Nothing we love yet though.

  22. runsyellowlites

    coconut / 8305 posts

@fussygal: I think it's pretty common practice for obgyns to push back appts..... both the cpm's I've seen have come seen/met with me really early. I think it's just a difference in model of care.

    20 March Mommas so far!

Thoughts and prayers, love and strength to norcalwayfarer and mrsk. Hoping you get sticky babies to join your families soon

***please let me know if I missed someone or got something wrong***

@matador: when is your dating u/s? I'm so curious when your EDD is

@fussygal: welcome and congrats - sending you loads of sticky baby dust!

@mamachin: ugh I hear you on being tired and having to run after #1. You'll have to baby proof 1 room so you can relax about him exploring. Our family room is 100% Joel safe.

@chattycathy: I will only be getting 1 u/s at 20 weeks unless there is an issue. We will probably do an elective 3D u/s with family around 30 weeks like we did with J though.

@babyboecksmom: they can figure out gender by a blood test?!?!

@bao: ugh, DH and I have such different name styles...I have a new favorite girl name he is ok with which is pretty amazing! I wish we all felt comfortable sharing them!

@mrsrccar: I can hardly wait for your u/s! I'm sure baby is perfect!

@runsyellowlites: your next appt is 2 weeks before mine, fingers crossed you get to hear that thump thump! I pushed my appt back a week (5 weeks in between instead of 4) to make sure we'll hear it! I think I'm much more relaxed about pregnancy this time

I can't believe I'm ready 8 weeks + 3! It's crazy how fast this is already going. I keep thinking that I'm not going to be ready for #2 by March...I guess it's just hormones

We had our first ultrasound today (I went with being unsure about my dates, I'm bad I know!), so far everything looks good No real reason to be worried, but I'm always super nervous beforehand. I'm measuring 6 weeks and 3 days, close enough to stick with the same due date for now since Cam always measured ahead.

Man, my bladder was KILLING me, I had tears in my eyes- and not from seeing the new little one for the first time! They told me to drink 32 oz of water an hour before, knowing my bladder, I started a lot later and had a lot less, and still thought I would pee myself.- my bladder isn't what it used to be. She was able to get an abdominal ultrasound and we could see the heartbeat- yay! Thankfully she let me have a pee break after a few minutes. Then I got to actually enjoy seeing our little coffee bean wiggle (we saw Cam at 10 weeks last time, he looked like a gummie bear by then).

So we are telling my family this Thursday and my husband's on Saturday since everything looks ok.

@Mrsjets: on thursday! i cant wait.

i also can't wait to start telling people! at this point (about 8-9 weeks based on what nurse told me from my blood test) i didn't even know i was pg with my first. so, we just waited two weeks to 12 weeks and then told people. the wait is killing me and i'm so big this time around!

i have already grown fond of the march board...it would be hard to switch to feb if that's when i'm due!

@matador84: eek! It's right around the corner! You don't have to switch! I had J 2 weeks early and stayed with the Junebug Mommas. I think there was a stubborn July baby in there too!

    @runsyellowlites: FX!!

So I've got my "first" (really second) appointment Monday, when I should be 8w4d. My doctor is on holidays this week, damn her! I am so over the moon happy to not have had any/much morning sickness yet, but also really scared that it means theres nothing there. I'm anxious for the scan but also scared - for now I can be ignorant, on Monday I'll have to face up to reality one way or the other!

  33. MamaChin

    clementine / 830 posts

Had the sono today and saw the little heartbeat. Doctor was at a delivery but the tech said everything looks fine. I am quite certain when we conceived so I'm 4 weeks and 2 days along, still a long road ahead!!

  34. fussygal

    pomegranate / 3580 posts

@matador84 Aw, so exciting! I hope you stick around here with us!

@MamaChin: Yay! S glad you got to see it today!

You all are making me wish my first appointment was sooner than 9 weeks!!

Anyone else breaking out like crazy?? I don't have the best skin normally, but it seems like the past week has been extra nuts! Ugh.

  35. ChattyCathy

    cherry / 148 posts

@fussygal: omg, me! Not that I have sits all over or anything, but I have like 3 on my jaw line that won't go away. And a stupid one popped up on my forehead. Like come on! I feel like a teenager!

So we have chosen a birthing center to go to. But I still don't know how far along I am. I could be anywhere from 5-8 weeks probably. So do you think it would be wise to get an ultrasound earlier? Already had my blood drawn 3 times last week with 1635, 4818 and then 11,094 I think. Not really sure how far that would put me but I don't want to make an appointment too early and have them not able to hear or see anything. Would it be irresponsible to wait until September after my brothers wedding when I'm in the beginning of my second trimester?

@Bao: We've decided on a boy and girl name already. Ok well I decided and DH agreed. I think we also have both middle names but we could still change. Since we're team green I think it will be a lot easier to keep them secret from family and stuff

  36. ChattyCathy

    cherry / 148 posts

@MamaChin: you were able to see the heartbeat at 4 weeks? Awesome!!!

  37. BabyBoecksMom

    GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts

@Mrsjets: yes, crazy, huh? It's a more extensive test, done usually for those at risk for birth defects, so it's not always covered by insurance, or available everywhere. I wanted to try it anyway

@lemondrop: that's so great! I'm jealous that you got to see it so early. My sister is no longer an ultrasound tech so I don't get all the extra, free ultrasounds this time. Boo!

I can't wait to tell people either. I'm stressing about hiding it. We ended up telling my parents two days after finding out bc I'm staying w them for vaca for the next two weeks, and they would have noticed that I kept turning them down for wine with dinner. I didn't want to tell them this early, but I felt like it minimized my stress by doing it. Besides we dint live near them, so i got to tell them in person. They were shocked and super excited

  40. bookwormmama

    persimmon / 1198 posts

    @lemondrop Wow so exciting!

@fussygal my skin as been terrible. Probably the worst it has been in years. And once one zit goes away, 3 more show up. It is supposedly a sign of a girl, but (as DH pointed out) it could easily be a boy since testosterone causes break outs too

@Hazeleyes We don't live by either of our parents (DH is a PhD student at a University and we moved here for his program). I saw my parents a couple days after we found out but we held back telling them because I was only like 3 weeks 5 days or something crazy like that. We are going to visit them in a couple weeks and plan on telling them at that point. I'll be a little more than 9 weeks and it will be a week after our first appointment. We are hoping DH's parents will come visit us the next week so we can tell them in person too!

I was 6 weeks yesterday and morning sickness really hit yesterday morning (and it is back this morning). I didn't throw up (thankfully) but I came very close several times. It came and went throughout the day, mainly when I didn't eat soon enough between meals. I was also starving all day. It just felt like I could never eat enough!
