@Lilbear: If my baby has its legs crossed I am getting myself to a private ultrasound clinic ASAP. No way can I go any longer!

@Lilbear: Me too! We're going to Vegas tomorrow and I really wish I knew if I was having a boy or (especially) a girl so I could take advantage of some cross-border deals!

@Bubbles: My neighbour is pregnant too, and she had to go back 3 different times for her ultrasound because they couldn't get all the images they needed!

@Alivoo01: I read somewhere that low bp is common at this point and can cause dizziness. It usually resolves around 20 weeks. I see my mw today, though, so I'll definitely bring it up with her.

@Bubbles: my first LO was just the same way! They had me climb stairs and drink water to try to get her moving it worked, thankfully!

@Bubbles: My LO was a bit of a pain to get the right pictures, but eventually she cooperated. The tech said she was likely exhausted from my night in the ER before!

@erinbaderin: Vegas!!!! How fun! I went when I was pregnant with K and it was such a different experience sober.

@Alivoo01: Today I am ok. Honestly I am just SO tired. Everyone keeps asking me if I could have mono or epp-stein barr because I just can sleep and sleep. Then again I am preggo with a toddler to chase around. My Drs got kind of serious with me and threatened bedrest politely so I am trying hard to "listen" to my body. I used to get up and be out the door with K by 7:15 for the day but now I am sleeping until she wakes up (630/7ish) taking her to school then coming home and getting ready for work. Still its like I cant sleep enough...and I have zero appetite!!! So weird!

My next Dr appointment is Nov 5, I plan to mentioned this sleepiness and also inquire about if I am Group B positive again!

Plus - DH and I used reward miles and are going to Florida for a week at Thanksgiving. Almost makes up for having to cancel my trip to Denver this week!

@Mrs D: sorry you're so tired! It's so hard to chase s toddler around and deal with life while being pregnant. Hope your new round helps a little.

My midwife appointment went well. She gave me some suggestions to help the dizziness: drink juice before I get up in the morning, stay on top of my hydration, take a short walk every day, and eat a protein snack before bed. I hope it helps-- mornings have been especially difficult!

@mrsrain: I hadnt seen your comments about dizziness but just wanted to chime in that with K, I had terrible morning dizziness and found that eating a protein bar in the middle of the night helped a ton! I kept them in my bedside table and just grabbed one when I got up for a bathroom break mid-night!

Went and picked up my OB records today to prepare for our move! They have you hand carry them when you change duty stations in case you have an emergency while traveling.

Said goodbye to the receptionist at the OB clinic who is the only one who has been there since my first pregnancy (she's the only civilian working at the clinic). It was really sad! I've always liked her. 😕

@Navy_Mommy: good luck! When do you actually leave?

@mrsrain: November 2. Movers get here next Tuesday. Box our stuff Tuesday and Wednesday, load the truck Thursday. We didn't want Wes to "miss" Halloween so we're staying for the weekend. The boys and I will stay at my friends house, my husband and the dogs will stay at home with no furniture, lol.

UGH! HB just ate my post!!!

So - I am struggling with nursery decor/theme. DH and I have discussed and plan to keep the paint color and furniture all the same for DD#2. However, so much of the DIY art I made is specific to either K's name, personality or interest that it just doesnt work to carry over to the next LO. So I am trying to get inspired....leaning a bit more towards cream/gold with some pops of pink. (K's nursery pic is below - it was very green/pink).

Right now I am loving the "Faith, trust and pixie dust" quote plus the idea of a fairy door....may run with it!

Anyone else struggling to get inspired if you loved your first ones nursery so much?!?!

@Mrs D: I loved my DD nursery, but we're keeping her in her room and nursery will be guest room. I was all ready to do another girl's nursery but think I've decided on a boy nursery theme of sharks/navy blue. Struggling cause PBKids had the BEST shark stuff a few months ago, all gone now!

    I love pink/gold/cream for a little girl - i'd run with it!

@Mrs D: This is why I'm so glad our nursery is gender neutral (grey, mint, white & yellow). We're keeping it the same for #2 no matter the sex.

We're redoing the current guest room to make DD's big girl room and we decided to do light grey walls with fuchsia and navy décor.

  12. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@Loscato: We chose the light green color for the same reason way back when I was pregnant with K - and I am so glad. Plus we did the dark wood furniture for the same reason. I just feel I need to personalize the room at least a little towards DD#2 and am at such a loss!

Ugh...and names...we have a battle a brewing. DH likes to be difficult just to be difficult I think...he's shooting all my names down!

@Mrs D: I can't remember if you're moving, or if you're going to repaint? Pink/cream/gold sounds lovely! I think that once you find one thing you love you'll be able to get the ball rolling. There's still lots of time! We're keeping the nursery the same - it's grey with white furniture and a forest theme so pretty gender neutral - I just have to figure out what B is going to think of as "his" (the stuffed toys, books, family photos) and replace them, and then get his new room going.

Heading out in a few hours, starting to stress - traveling always makes me nervous. Will B sleep on the plane? Will we ruin his schedule with the time zone shifting? Nobody knows!

Good golly the boys were driving me bananas today. As soon as DH got home I was like, "I need to leave" hahahahha. So now I'm getting a pedicure and eating frozen yogurt and it's fabulous.

@erinbaderin: How did B do on the trip?

AFM, my appointment on Thursday went well, but slightly nerve wracking! Baby #2 is definitely still a girl so yay for that confirmation! However, they found a small cyst on the left side of her head. The cyst is usually a marker for chromosomal defect, but since I had my NT scan already and was found be low risk, they aren't worried about it. They're expecting the cyst to resolve itself by 24 weeks so we'll just keep an eye on it.

I also have a placenta previa, meaning my placenta is covering some of my cervix. The OB mentioned 80% of previas resolve themselves, but if at the time of delivery it doesn't, it means an automatic c-section. Yikes! Like the cyst, they're going to keep an eye on it and we're all hoping the placenta will move upwards and away from my cervix. Fingers crossed!!!!!

I've been rather MIA but congrats on all the gender reveals! With a due date of 3/26 we don't find out until 11/5. I'm on a pins and needles waiting.

With so many second time mom's I wanted to ask how you are all doing with active toddlers. My son wants to climb on me all the time and isn't at all cautious about the bump. On saturday he was sitting next to me and leaned over to grab something on the other side of me, but he slip and elbowed me right in my lower right side. It hurt and is close to the baby which of course makes me worried. But I've been feeling the baby kick, haven't noticed any fluid leakage or cramping (beyond the initial soreness), and found the baby on the doppler. But god this is going to be hard for the next 5 months.

@Alivoo01: I hope the cysts and the placenta previa both resolve themselves. Are you restricted from activity because of your low placenta?

  19. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@Alivoo01: Well thats an eventful appointment huh? I am glad they feel reassured by the NT results with regard to the Cyst - I am so glad you had it done so you didnt have hours/days of worrying to get some comforting news!

As for previa - my close friend had this...hers was complete previa. She was told around 24ish weeks that she would have a c-section. She was also monitored weekly starting at 28 weeks with a u/s (ya more views of the bambino) and at her 36 week u/s they decided she would deliver via c-section at 37 weeks. All was good with her and she actually LOVED the scheduled c-section...she had a toddler at the time and just said the peace of mind knowing when it would happen was just great. Just wanted to share a real life happy story with you!

@sailgrl18: ugh...my toddler is killing me. Not only the exhaustion but I swear it wasnt until I was pregnant that she decided she only want to jump on my stomach! WTH? I did ask my Dr early on who said my 25lbs toddler likely could not do real damage to the baby- so not to worry. That made me feel better. DD#2's kicks are still sporadic so I dont have a ton of reassurance...but I am relieved when I feel her squirming!

AFM...I accomplished nothing this weekend - and am not proud!!! UGH!

@Mrs D: That's good to hear. It's like these kids just want to be all over us now. My doctor said only to worry if he kicks me hard but I then kept wondering if the elbow drop counted as a hard kick.

  21. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@sailgrl18: When you say elbow drop...I just cant help but think of like WWE style...pat the elbow and then drop on your opponent...its a funny visual with a toddler!

@sailgrl18: YES ON THE TODDLER THING!! DS is not careful around me at all even though we remind him about a million times a day. He loves to sit in my lap, but he wants to be like more on my belly than lap so that's uncomfortable and I have to shift him a lot. He also uses his elbows as leveraging point and those are constantly digging in too! I try my very best to protect my belly, but sometimes, he just comes out of nowhere and HIYA!!! Like he could be all calm next to me then the next second he decides to crawl over my belly. Oof!

As for my low placenta, I can't have anything up in there. So no doctor checks for dilation, no sex, nada!!

@Mrs D: Thank you so much for sharing that story!! I know ultimately, I just want a healthy baby at the end, but c-sections still sound scary to me! I know plenty of mommies personally that have em, but I'm still *shudders*

We were also unproductive this weekend. It was kind of nice to just lounge around, but like you said, come evening time, I'm like crap! I meant to do XYZ this weekend and barely got X done. Oops!!

    @mrsrain: So cute, congrats!

@Alivoo01: I had partial previa with DS and it had resolved by 24ish weeks I believe? I hope yours resolves as well!

I'm dealing with a rambunctious toddler, too. My DS is almost 3 and weighs about 35 lbs. There's a lot of unpredictable kneeing and elbow-throwing but he's starting to learn to be careful around my belly. Last Monday DS and I fell down our basement stairs. We both bumped our heads hard, and I also bruised/scraped my face, arm, and leg on the side where I fell. All of this to say - we checked out fine and the doctor said the baby was probably the safest of the three of us in this scenario. Very scary but quite relieved all is ok. We were much more resilient than you would think!

I also wanted to ask - how much movement are you feeling now and when did it start? I'm 18 weeks and have felt some twitches here and there, but I remember a lot more activity by this time with DS!

@Alivoo01: wow that sounds like a bit of a stressful scan! So glad they are not worried about the cyst though. I am scared of c sections too but I guess at least you have the time now to prepare yourself for it being a possibility.

@sailgrl18: My DS is very physical too and he is over 30lbs! The only time I have really worried is when he sat himself down onto my bump from a great height, and that turned out to be fine. He is getting better over being careful but still forgets a lot!

@mrsrain: Congrats on your boy! March is turning out to be a boy filled month!

@MoreCoffee: I have felt movement later this time too compared to my first - at 18 weeks this time I was just starting to feel pretty regular twitches, but only in the evening when watching telly. Now at 22 weeks I am finally starting to feel them throughout the day too. I think partly this baby is just more chilled out (as shown by the acrobatics I had to do to get him to move during the anatomy scan!) - but also I think I have a much more active lifestyle nowadays due to DS1 - so I just don't notice the movements as much.

I am getting scared by how close the due date now feels! Before 20 weeks it felt like ages, but now I feel like there is NO TIME!

  34. mrsrain

    nectarine / 2115 posts

@MoreCoffee: I'm glad you guys were okay! I'm almost 19 weeks and movement has been pretty sporadic, but definitely picking up in frequency.

  35. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@MoreCoffee: I am feeling very sporadic movement - mostly kicks (not flutters) but nothing regular. I try to "push" her and see if I can get a reaction and its 50/50.

Scary about the fall but glad it turned out ok!!!

@Bubbles: I am feeling the same way about the second half of this pregnancy...especially with the holidays in there!!!

I think I felt some braxton hicks contractions in the MOTN...not cool if these are going to start up!!!

  36. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@MoreCoffee: Thanks for your testimony on your previa! It gives me hope!!! So glad all 3 of y'all are okay after the fall (despite the scrapes and bruises - ouch!)

As for movement, I'm 19+1 and started feeling random blips here and there last week, but it's not consistent or often at all. They're also far and few in between. Ready to feel more consistent kicks!

@Bubbles: Yea, been trying to come to terms with potentially getting a c-section. Like you said, at least I have time to get used to the idea. I was threatened with a c-section during my labor with DS due to heart decels and that seriously scared the shit out of me!

Getting to 20 weeks seems to be taking forever!! I'm hoping now that the holidays are on top of one another, the 2nd trimester will fly by and ease us into the 3rd!

  37. sailgrl18

    cherry / 127 posts

@MoreCoffee: Oh no! Glad you are ok after your fall. It sounds really scary. I'm 18.5w now and have been feeling some movement for a couple weeks but more regular in recent days. DS was super active in the womb and I have in my notes that I started feeling him around 13 weeks which of course had me worried for this one.

@sailgrl18: 13 weeks?! wow!! That's awesome!! I'm feeling movement about the same time with #1 (18ish weeks), which means I won't feel more consistent movement till 20 weeks and steady movement that can be felt on the outside till 22 weeks. That's so far away!!! Ah!!! lol

    @Mrs D: Love it!!

@Alivoo01: DS was quite the mover and still is. I can't say I'm disappointed I didn't feel this one until later and hope that its a sign that the baby is calmer.
