We're home from vacation! It actually was great - Bennett was a perfect angel on both flights, slept in my lap all the way there and on the way home took a nap, looked out the window and talked about how we were up in the sky, and watched Sesame St. So easy. And actually he adapted to the time change like a champ too, although it probably helped that we flew there at night. That being said, we've still decided no flights in 2016 - it's too much stress and hassle, I can't imagine doing it with two! Although THAT being said, it's difficult because my husband's family lives in England so if we want his grandparents to meet the new baby, we're pretty much out of options, and flying with an infant and a toddler is probably easier than flying with two toddlers...
Having some trouble now that we're home because we went back to some bad habits in Vegas because we were in a different place, so we held his hand while he fell asleep and let him sleep with us if he woke up in the night. He's pretty unhappy that we're not doing that anymore - last night he screamed from his crib for 45 minutes before climbing over the rail and falling to the ground! Not sure how we're going to handle this one...
One more day until I find out the sex, hooray!
@Alivoo01: That does sound like a stressful appointment! Good that you had the NT scan so you don't have to worry about that, though! And for what it's worth, I had a C section with Bennett and it was totally easy, so much that I've considered just having a second one for the convenience of it.
@sailgrl18: My son isn't too bad, although he does like to sit in my lap and with the belly it's like he can't get close enough anymore so he keeps trying to scootch further and further back until he's basically on top of my bump. I'll probably get more worried about it later on when the baby is bigger and closer to the surface, right now I figure they're pretty well padded in there.
@mrsrain: Congrats!
@MoreCoffee: I would say I'm feeling some movement, but nothing consistent. Actually it was stressing me out on vacation a little because one night at dinner I realized that I wasn't sure I'd felt the baby move all day, and was wishing I'd packed the doppler so I could check up on them. Usually I feel something at least a few times a day but nothing I could count on at this point (19w4d). And yikes on the fall! That sounds terrifying, glad you're all ok!
@Bubbles: I'm totally feeling the "NO TIME" too. Especially with Christmas also fast approaching!
@Mrs D: Adorable! How are you feeling? Any more energy/appetite?

@erinbaderin: we are having the climbing issue too. When he was 19 months he got sick and mad when we tried to get him to sleep in his crib. He climbed out and climbed down successfully. We decided since he had been sick we would try to work through it by staying in his room until he fell asleep and doing a sleep lady shuffle. And he went back to successfully sleeping in his crib for night and naps. Well he's now 21 months and this week he's now learned how to unzip his sleep sack and climb out. It's mostly a nap thing and is fine going to sleep at night. We're going to try to coddle him for the next week and a half to get through the time change then convert his crib to a toddler bed.

@erinbaderin: Yay for a successful trip despite the minor setback upon coming home. Hopefully he'll get over that hump soon!
@Navy_Mommy: Good luck!!!

@erinbaderin: Congrats on a good trip! I'm sure the bad habits will break with short time!!! I def think traveling with a wee one and a toddler will be easier than two toddlers. I have already planned 2 family trips for while DD#2 is under 6 mos...they are SO easy at that age - especially if nursing is going well!!! I am feeling better but still struggling with the appetite...I have found some protein shakes I can stomach which makes me feel good! Fingers crossed I keep going in the right direction!!!
@Navy_Mommy: Good luck!!!! I have done two cross country moves and know how fun it can be!!!

Both boys rooms are all boxed up. I'm getting emotional. I brought both my babies home to this house My husband doesn't feel the same sentimental value.

@Navy_Mommy: I cried like a baby when we left our first house. We had gotten engaged in that house, spent our first year as newlyweds there and brought Kate home to that house...I was a wreck...cry if you need to and then remember all the memories you'll make in the new place!!!

@Navy_Mommy: @Mrs D: We moved from our 1st home earlier this year so I feel you ladies! We got engaged, married, opened our first business, changed my job, and brought DS home to that house! I was definitely ready to move/upgrade, but sentimentally, it was the perfect starter home for us!

There's two guys here packing everything. They're being super careful. Labeling everything. I feel useless, lol. So I'm just sitting on the couch knitting.

Navy_mommy: who'd you use to do that? Curious what it cost as i need it for an upcoming move

@momtimes3: my husband is active duty navy and we're changing duty stations - the navy contracts out everything for us. So I have no idea, lol.

Hi ladies!! Sorry I don't post much - I'm mostly on my iPhone so it gets really hard to reply to everything but I do read! I just wanted to update our roll call:
Baby is a GIRL!
I have to go back in two weeks because she was huddled over and covering part of her heart, and they couldn't "sign off on it" until they captured images of the entire heart, but that what they could see of her heart was good. The doctor reiterated that I should leave there happy. So - I'll get to see baby again in two weeks!!

@MrsLilybugg: congrats on finding out it's a girl!!!!! That's awesome that you get to see her again soon too!
My anatomy scan is this afternoon and I can't freaking wait!!! We are also testing out a new babysitter for this appointment (turning it into a date by having dinner afterwards) so I'm a little nervous about that!

@momtimes3: I have never used a "full service" mover (i.e. they pack everything)...but DH and I have done two cross country moves (Boston - Miami, Miami - Detroit) and we used http://www.movingscam.com to research companys. I have found it to be a great resource! Both our moves (we pack, company loads are boxes into a portion of a semi and delivers at new location) have been a huge success...with retail cost of damaged items under $100 each time for a 2-3 bedroom home! Just wanted to share!
@MrsLilybugg: Yay - another girl momma! I feel so outnumbered here!!! Glad the Dr was re-assuring...we were moments from a "re-check" of DD spine and I was kind of freaking out...the tech was trying to be very clear it was merely her position but it was hard to not have thoughts! Thankfully at the last minute she stretched differently and success!
@Lilbear: Good luck with the scan and the date! Fingers crossed the sitter pans out - finding reliable care is SO huge!

@Navy_Mommy: Good luck! I hope everything goes well! I would also totally be emotional. My husband keeps house hunting (he's obsessed with browsing MLS) and I have no interest in moving and a large part of that is because...this is our house! We bought it when we got married! It has B's room!
@sailgrl18:We hadn't been using a sleep sack, so last night we went back to it. He was really excited about his "sleeping bag" until he had to actually get in it, then he spent a half hour yelling "I WANT OUT SLEEP BAG!" and falling over in his crib. So that wasn't great, but at least he wasn't falling over the RAILS of his crib, and he eventually went to sleep. Hopefully it will get better as he gets back in the swing of it.
@MrsLilybugg: Congratulations! Going against the March trend with a little girl!
@Lilbear: Oooh, anatomy scan and a date night, how fun! How did you find the babysitter?
As for me, I'm sticking with the trend and having a boy! I'm not surprised, this was my suspicion. I had a few moments of "oh man" because I'd always wanted a big brother so I thought that if it was a girl, she'd have one! But then I realized that a baby boy will still have a big brother, and that weirdly made me feel better. Also one of my friends pointed out that I can put them in matching outfits. So hooray for baby brothers!

@MrsLilybugg: Congrats on your lil girl! It's been awhile since we've seen a girl update on here. lol
@Lilbear: Eep! How exciting! Hope the new babysitter works out great!
@erinbaderin: Congrats on your lil boy!!

After commenting on the Bump thread I realized...we havent heard from SassyMamma in a while...anyone heard from her or how the twins are?
apricot / 451 posts
@erinbaderin: Wahoo more boys!!!! Congrats mama!!! We found our sitter through care.com. We had another sitter that we found through them that we liked a lot, but sadly she moved away. I feel like there is a lot of security in place (background checks, references, other parents write reviews etc.) but it is still a bit nerve wracking since they are not someone you already know in real life.
Today's sitter used to work in a daycare (so that is reassuring) and she seemed great during my interview with her. We'll see! I wish my LO talked a bit more so that she could give me a thorough behind the scenes debriefing on what she thinks! I don't think we are too far away from that amount of verbalizing on my DDs part, but unfortunately not quite yet!

Hi, sorry, I haven't posted here in a while. Been busybusy trying to work as much as possible at my 4 jobs before mat leave, at which point I'll be out of the (moneymaking) workforce for a long while, 1 yr mat leave plus mystery amount of time it will take to finish my PhD. I'll do a short update of my own stuff and then catch up with others when I have some more time.
I can't believe I'm the only team green! We managed to hold out - well managed is not even the right word, I thought I would be dying to know by the time the anatomy scan rolled around but I was actually really scared the tech was going to let something slip or forget to tell me to look away! Thankfully it worked out well. I thought I got a random glimpse of girl parts actually at one point, so I won't be shocked if baby is a girl, then again, I don't know what I'm looking at so who knows if that's what I saw! I'm really excited to learn the gender when baby is born.
I see there are a few other VBAC mamas on here - I am really happy about my OB, he said he will let me go to 42 (!!) weeks before having a C-section, and that we can try all kinds of things - stretch and sweep, foley catheter induction - before we get to that point. I see one bee here has a later due date than you think you should have? Count yourself lucky girl, mine is officially 1 week earlier than is at all possible and it's (just starting to not totally be) driving me bonkers!! Arghh. Of course they don't listen to my 50 reasons why I know when I ovulated and conceived, it's all about that first ultrasound. Ohhh well. At least the doc is letting me go late.
Finally started feeling some movement in the last few days (at 20 weeks, so late!). That's anterior placenta for you I guess. The first really big movements freaked the eff outta me, you'd think I'd know what I was in for after having one but yikes. There's nothing you can do! The baby just moves and you have an alien in you and there's nothing you can do to stop it you just wait it out!! Duh. Freaky.
