@Smurfette: woo hoo!
@Mrs. Blue: I think I just heard Andy laugh yesterday, but haven't been able to replicate it.
@shopaholic: glad you like the new Ped! I always find switching doctors awkward, but I think it's totally fine.

@Smurfette: glad you fInally got to see it. Hope the flight delay doesn't cancel date night.
@Mrs. High Heels: Yay on the roll. Hopefully he does it again soon so you can see. How do you know if they are teething?
@Mrs. Blue: I've been able to get Isaac laughing pretty good in the last week or so. It is so cute. I just give him pretend tickles and he thinks it is so funny.
@dojo: I'm interested to know how the teething necklace works. I haven't decided if we are going to get one yet.
I think we are growing over here. I've had a reaally great mapper today. So far 3 one hour naps and it looks like he will nap more. And eating lots. It was nice for me to have a couple naps today too.

@shopaholic: That is crazy about the necklace. Which one do you have? Maybe we need to get one. Glad that K is doing great. She is a peanut like R!
@ALV91711: I think date night will be postponed he has even left NY yet.

@Smurfette: I bought 2 by Mon Petit Mardi on Baby Steals (I think they have some recently in the Archives). I would have gone with INspired By Finn since I hear so many recs for them if I paid full price. Supposedly, the unpolished ones work better.

@Smurfette: congrats on the roll! that sucks that DH's flight is delayed though... i'm sure you were really looking forward to having him back after solo parenting these last couple days.
@aprk: You can give them 2-3 tablets 4x a day. the directions say, If the child is restless or wakeful, 2 tablets every hour for 6 doses or as recommended by a doctor.
@Mrs. Blue: J started laughing/cooing pretty early on. He started smiling regularly at 5 weeks, and I think we heard his first laugh not too long after that, maybe at 8 weeks... I can't remember exactly cuz he's been doing it for awhile now. Have you tried tickling them?? That was when we really started getting the big laughs out of him.
@shopaholic: the amber necklace totally makes a difference for us too. Glad to hear she's growing well!! J is in the 98th percentile, but ideally I'd prefer him to be in the 50th percentile. Being middle of the road seems better to me for so many reasons.

@ALV91711: I usually chalk it up to teething when it's a combination of these things - chewing/gnawing on things a lot, crying in pain, drooling a lot, and not sleeping well. If it's just one of these things I probably wouldn't think teething, but if it's most or all of the above, then it usually is. I also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, so I've gone through too many rounds of teething already!

@shopaholic: @Smurfette: we have inspired by finn! the darker the necklace the better. supposedly, the darker amber is more effective.

So Xander has a physical evaluation at daycare today and they think he has "low muscle tone" and could benefit from physical therapy... I wonder if this is something I really should consider... what would you do? Specifically they mentioned his low muscle tone would make it difficult for him to hold his head up, roll over, sit up, and crawl...
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: awesome. Thanks!
@Adira: hmm. Interesting. Is it something he will just develop over time? I wonder if they are things you can do at home.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Not sure! My pediatrician didn't seem concerned at all and he was meeting all his developmental milestones that she asked about. I know he's not super strong, but I was assuming part of that was because he has a big heavy head.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: yeah! I can never get a dark, unpolished one on those flash sale sites yet. We have a light honey colored one and a polished dark and light Multi one. It wouldn't be past me to buy her another one though!
Ahhh!!! K woke up crying so sadly from her 45 min. nap! Her eyelids and eyebrow turned all red! I'm starting to think she's just very sensitive to this particular vaccine.

@shopaholic: Awww, I hate it when babies sound so sad!!! Poor K! I hope she feels better soon!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Poor K! Is how her reaction started the last time with this one?
@Adira: What kind of physical evaluation was it? Who did it?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: It was some physical therapy place they did it. It was a physical therapy screening and they observed the following skills:
- Gross Motor
- Balance
- Transitions (moving from one position to another)
- Mobility (crawling, walking, running, stairs based on age)
- Strength, muscle tone, joint mobility/position
Then the comment was: "Xander is an adorable, happy little baby. He has lower muscle tone than expected at his age which makes it harder for him to learn to hold his head up, roll and eventually sit up and crawl. He would benefit from PT to build his strength and boost his motor skills."

@Adira: I would call the pediatrician. I would wonder if they are just trying to get business cause they know parents are going to do anything for their kids.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Adira: I think I would get a 2nd opinion before making any decisions about PT. Maybe talk to your pediatrician about this?
@shopaholic: Aww poor K!!! It's so hard to hear them like that. Hope she feels better soon and sleeps it off tonight!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I was wondering the same thing! I mean, I do realize that Xander's not as strong as other babies his age, but I'm not sure if that's really cause for concern yet.
@Mrs. High Heels: Good idea. I'm betting Hubs wouldn't want to have Xander do PT anyway, but I'll definitely talk to my ped before I do something like this. I mean, we JUST had his 4 month well visit and she didn't seem concerned at all, so I'm thinking he's probably fine, just on the slower side of physical development.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Adira: did you read the swarm post about when the bees' kids hit the various milestones? there's a HUGE range... i wouldn't worry too much, i feel like it's still much too early to tell!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I honestly wouldn't be so concerned about it. Especially if your pediatrician wasn't worried.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: that sucks. Hopefully you will get the chance for a date night soon.
@Mrs. High Heels: If that is the case we are probably on the verge of teething. He is super drooly and has started chewing everything. I'm not ready for teeth yet.
@Adira: I would definitely get a second oponion. Especially since you were just at the pediatrician.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend with some relaxing and babies sleeping well!!
@shopaholic: Aww hope she is feeling better.
@Adira: Agree with posters its just way early and also your pedi is not concerned so I would give it some time. My lo is a chunky baby his head is still a little wobbly and he has not rolled yet but I am not worried as there is a range of a few months for milestones. I have 4 mo appt on Monday and going to ask pedi anyway. Keeping fx on vaccines!
@Smurfette: Hope your DH is back and you are able to go on a date nite soon.
@ALV91711: Thatz exciting with teething I wonder too with J drooling a lot and chewing his hands. I know our babies are growing up too fast!!

@Adira: I agree with what others have said and would either get a second opinion or just hold off - if your pediatrician isn't concerned I think I would just wait and see. Liam has a big noggin too (90% at his 4 month appt) and he is definitely a bit wobbly while sitting (assisted of course) and will roll but is not super consistent about it.
Oh my goodness we are battling our first cold I think - Liam is super congested and had a terrible night of sleep up every couple hours just sniffling and coughing a little. I keep clearing out his boogies with the nosa frida but I swear after 5 minutes of clear breathing he's back to sniffling - breaks my heart
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@dojo: I think R is finally getting over hers. The cough and congestion suck. Do you have a humidifier in his room? It really helped R. We also elevated her crib with a crib wedge and it helped too.
persimmon / 1223 posts
@Smurfette: We do have a humidifier going - it's hard to tell how much it is helping - probably would be worse without it though. How does the crib wedge work?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@dojo: I got it at BRU, was like $17, it just goes under the mattress. I took these the other night while nursing R and it was dark so bad pictures but you get the idea.
persimmon / 1223 posts
@Smurfette: oh cool - I will have to check out the wedge idea. I bet that would help with spit up too.

@dojo: Awwww, sorry to hear that Liam is sick! Sick babies are so sad!! Hope he feels better soon!!!
So Xander's sick too. He has a 101 degree fever. I called his pediatrician and the on-call nurse basically told me to just keep an eye on it. If his fever's over 102 for 24 hours, call back. If it's high (but not 102) for three days, call back. If it goes over 104, call back. He was also being more fussy than normal, so I knew he wasn't feeling well. Poor little guy.
But before he got sick, we were at Hubs' Dad's house. They live on a lake, and so we got Xander in all his swim gear and put on a life jacket (yay! FIL had a life jacket for him, so I don't have to worry about him when he's there in a couple weeks!!) and we went and dipped his toes in the water. It was definitely too cold for him though. He didn't mind his toes in, but when I tried to bring him in any further, he started crying, so we took him out and decided to just let him chill in the shade. But here's a pic of the two of us before we went in!
persimmon / 1223 posts
@Adira - oh no! poor little guy - hope he feels better soon! That's great that you were able to get him out on the water though - even if it was just the toes
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: too cute! And look at you rockin a bikini hope he feels better soon!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Aww, poor guy! Is anything else wrong? I wonder what would just give him a fever? He looks ready to swim! Glad they got him a life jacket so you don't have to worry about it. Since he doesn't like the water, maybe you don't have to worry about them taking him swimming when he is there.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Haha, it's actually a tankini. My stomach is in no shape to be seen by anyone!
@Smurfette: He's seemed a little more fussy than usual, but he's eating and peeing fine, so the fever is really the only symptom. The pediatrician thought it might just be a viral infection, but I guess they don't really know. But since he doesn't have other symptoms, I don't think they were too worried. I just feel bad... he's so hot!!
And I think you are right. I actually don't think they'll take him into the water since he didn't seem to be a fan. But I'm glad they have a jacket for him in case they do decide to or if they want to take him on the boat. I feel more comfortable about the whole situation.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: do they get fevers if teething? I have no clue.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I was actually wondering that! I thought that I've heard that they can, but I'm not sure. I hope that's the case and that's all this is!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Temp is down to 99.5 this morning!! Soooo relieved that he must be feeling better. I felt like you ladies through the night though because he kept waking up every few hours. I'm guessing because he was hot and not feeling well. But I didn't feel like you ladies when trying to get him back to sleep because all he needed was his pacifier and a few pats and then he was good.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Great news that his fever is down. Did you take him to day care? Glad that he went back to sleep so easily for you too!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I had Hubs take him to daycare but to make a note on his daily sheet that he had a fever over the weekend and to keep an eye on him. I know our daycare has a rule that if they have a temp over 100+, they can't come, so if his temp was still up, Hubs would've stayed home with him. I suspect it's just going to continue going back down though, so I think he was okay to go. Plus he had no other symptoms besides the fever.
How was your weekend? How did R sleep?? When did your husband get home?? Did you get to have your date night at all? I think I missed all the posts from the weekend because I was gone, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Our day care, if it 102, then they can't be there. And you have to be fever free for 24 hours, so I think you were fine to send him.
Weekend was good. We saw lots of rolling. This morning she rolled onto her tummy on our bed while we were getting ready. We both looked away for a second and she had rolled back to her back! So hopefully I can see it this week. I think DH was upset cause he was so close to seeing it and now he will miss it this week.
Her sleep wasn't horrible but not great. Last night at least she was up at 1130 and 100, but fussed for like 30 mins and went back to sleep. She wasn't hungry, so hopefully this means she will start STTN again. Fingers crossed.
DH didn't get home till 945 on Friday Saturday night we were both exhausted and we went to bed at 915. So it will probably be next weekend before we try for date night in again. This weekend R is getting baptised, so Friday night will be prepping the house and then Sat his family will be in town. And fingers crossed none are staying with us.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh wow!!!! So much rolling!!! I'm kind of jealous, haha. Xander rolled from his tummy to his back a couple times on Saturday, so I know he can do it, but still no back-to-front rolling happening yet!
I should have posted last night! I was up at 11:30 too! I actually woke up thinking it was like 2:00 a.m. and when I found out it was only 11:30, I was all "nooooooooooooo!!!!" Xander had only been asleep for 1.5 hours at that point (since I fed him at 9:30).
Bummer you weren't able to have your date night!!! I hope you get to have one soon!
