March Mamas & Babies: 1/3 Done!

@Adira: I didn't even wake up that much, just a couple times. So I was thinking you can't get pregnant this year. We have to pregnant and have babies at the same time again. Who else is going to chat with me all day.

Or maybe by the time I am ready for #2, you will be ready for #3?

  2. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: LOL!!!! I love that you were thinking about that!!! If nothing else, our first babies will always be close in age so we'll ALWAYS have stuff to talk about!!! And I'm not planning on having baby #3, so no luck there! But maybe it'll take me longer than I thought to get pregnant and maybe you'll be ready for baby #2 earlier than you're thinking and it will all work out in the end.

@Adira: I think about the most random stuff at night. I get so bored sitting at home once R is asleep. There is nothing on TV.

BTW, I saw in your other thread that you said there is a huge layer of fat in your bottles. Mine isn't as thick as it use to be. It is pretty thin. Should I be worried?

  4. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I don't think you have to worry - I was just exaggerating because of what that woman said. I'm betting that bottle was somehow made of mostly hindmilk. Usually the fat layer isn't that thick. PLUS I've been eating like a cow, so that probably contributes to the extra fat. You've been being good and eating healthier, so it makes sense your milk isn't as fatty.

@Adira: Ok, thanks. And I don't know about healthy........I ate chips and frozen yogurt last night

We slept pretty good last night. Isaac went to bed early at 10. This doesn't sound early but we've been on PST at my moms and home is MST. He the. Woke up at 12, 3, 6 and 7:30. And now up at 9.

Of course there is construction going on in our complex that started early and woke me up. Luckily it did not wake Isaac.

last night J slept from 8-5:30 am....

N, on the other hand, woke up screaming and crying at 1:30 am... she has a cold, had to go to the bathroom, wanted water... woke up for the day at 5 am. She doesn't have a fever, and just has a cough, but because of the terrible sleep she had last night we decided to keep her home so her cold doesn't get any worse. I am taking PTO so I can watch her.

Doing everything I can to keep her germs away from J. He has already gotten sick twice in just 4 months.

Sigh. Parenting... the adventures never freaking end.

@Smurfette: That's great you got such a long stretch - woohoooo... a sign of better days to come!

@ALV91711: Construction in the morning would make me so nervous, glad it didn't wake Isaac.

  9. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: I had McDonald's last night.

@ALV91711: That sounds like a lot of wake-ups. Was he hungry all those times? Hope you were able to fall back asleep easily in the middle of the night!

@Mrs. High Heels: Go J!!! That's a great stretch!! Bummer about N though! I hope she feels better soon. And that J doesn't catch it. And I'm not positive about Xander, but Hubs and I have been sick three or four times since he started daycare, so I'm guessing he's been sick that many times too, though never as bad as the rest of us!

  10. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: great sleep for J. Hope N is feeling better soon. Sick kids are no fun. At least you can stay home.

@Adira: I'm not sure if he was actually hungry, but he got fed. I was tired, and just fed him when he woke up. Usually I let him fuss a bit and go to him only if it gets worse. Then I'll pick him up and I can tell if he wants to eat or not. I feel more rested today, so I can do that tonight.

It was amazing to sleep in my own bed.

@ALV91711: glad that the construction didn't wake I. Sorry that it did wake you.
@Adira: Now I want French fries!!!!
@Mrs. High Heels: Great stretch for J! I hope N feels better soon!

@ALV91711: I hear that - sometimes you just need sleep and you do what you've gotta do! Glad you're feeling more rested today!

@Adira: We will see. I lost 1lb this week, so I am still up 2 from two weeks ago

Okay, checking in! 4 month appointment got pushed back to next month so no shots or stats this month. I can tell you this chubster is in size 3 diapers and out growing her 6 month clothing length wise. I think she's topped out big brother at this age!

She's a rolling fiend. She'll be asleep in my arms, I'll lay her in her crib, and she immediately rolls to her tummy! I move her head to make sure she can breathe and leave her to it. She sleeps a lot better on her tummy.

Speaking of sleep, she likes giving me erratic 7 hour stretches. 10 til 5 am for a few days then a few days of not doing it, then she'll do it again. It's... Interesting. No rhyme or reason to it! Naps are just as erratic. She's mostly stopped sleeping in her swing. Doesn't hate it, just won't sleep in it.

Other than that, nothing much to report! Hope everyone else is doing well

  18. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: Awww, bummer.

@NaturallyCathy: Oh wow! Size 3s already AND outgrowing the 6 month clothes?? She's bigger than Xander! That's awesome that she can roll - I'm so jealous of all the rolling babies. I'm still waiting for Xander to do it!

  19. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

    @Adira: she's a chunkster. Very chubbly. Just ask @Smurfette: !

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@NaturallyCathy: But she is a cute chubster! R is doing the same thing. I lay her in the crib on her back and she rolls right over to her tummy. If I move her back to her back, she rolls right over. The doctor told me if she puts herself like that to just leave her. I always make sure her face is turned so a cheek is on the mattress and not her nose.

  21. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Smurfette: Me too. Last night she seemed to have trouble so I put her back on her back and she went right back to sleep. But when she woke up again, she was back on her tummy! I like tummy sleeping so she must take after me Little man loves having his butt up in the air so maybe it's a family trait!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@NaturallyCathy: @Adira: But those cheeks!!! She is seriously adorable!!

@NaturallyCathy: I texted DH a picture of the monitor last night, R had her booty up!

Just back from the pediatrician. Isaac is 16lbs 6oz. His weight and height are in the 75 percentile and his head is in the 25th. He is healthy and growing good. Now I can tell all the people who think I should start him on cereal to back off! The doc said any time between now and 6 months, but because he is growing good there is no rush. And my mom thought he was getting a tooth, I wasn't so sure. He is not, it is just a calcium deposit.

Reagan slept for 25 mins total today!! WTF!! She fell asleep in the car so I took the long way home hopin she would nap more. Now she woke up, we are sitting in traffic and she is screaming her head off. It is going to take us forever to get home. This sucks!!!!!

  25. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Smurfette: Hopefully you aren't stuck in the car too long. That is not much napping for the day. I hope your night goes smoothly.

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Wow!! Big baby!!! Congrats on the good health report!!

@Smurfette: WHAT!!! Oh no!!! Poor R!!! She must be sooooooo tired! I wonder why she didn't sleep at all today. Guess she's in for an early bedtime tonight. I hope you're able to get her down okay...

Xander was the OPPOSITE of little R. He slept for 3 hours 45 minutes total at daycare AND fell asleep in the care! He NEVER gets this much napping in! I wonder if he's sick...

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: Glad that I is growing so well!!! Now we just need to get him sleeping better.

It took an extra hour to get home. There was off and on crying on both our parts. I am just exhausted. Yeah she is sleeping better but I am still not getting enough sleep. And I am exhausted doing 95% of the parenting. DH told me tonight he was going to meet his mentee at work for drinks Friday after work. I asked if he would be home for bath, he said he would try. I just texted him, and told him I need him home. I can't keep doing it all myself. I haven't any time to myself in weeks, outside of work.

I hate that I got no time with R today. Got home, bath, nursed, and put her to bed. It is thundering so who knows how long and if she goes to sleep. I really hate working!!

Day care did say she was great and happy all day despite not napping.

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Boooooo. That sucks your drive home was so horrible! And that your husband isn't super helpful. I think men often don't feel that strong urge to care for their children like we do, so we feel compelled to pick up the slack if they don't step up. I hope your husband is home soon to help you.

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Now I feel guilty writing this, but I think I can hear Hubs singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to Xander while he puts him to bed.

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Why do you feel guilty? That is adorable. He is helpful when he is here. I am just over this solo parenting. I get he made a commitment to mentor someone at work, and I think it is great. I just want him home to help with bath time, since he is home. Usually bath is his thing.

He took Friday off to watch R in the morning, while I go to the dentist. Then is doing stuff around the house to get ready for everyone coming over here after R's baptism.

I think too I am upset about Friday cause I am just having a bad day.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I just feel guilty because you've been solo parenting and my husband has been EXTRA helpful today - more helpful than normal! And I totally get why you're having a bad day! You missed R all day and then had a crappy drive home AND she had to go to bed early! It sucks. Plus you're not going to get a ton of quality time this weekend as just a family since you have the baptism happening. Although hopefully that's fun!

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I think what makes it harder is that every one else is going to want to hold her and say you get to all the time. So I was really hoping to get time with her this week. Sucks. But maybe she will just take a really long time to nurse so I can get extra cuddles that way.

I am really glad your DH was super helpful tonight!!!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I kind of hate spending time with family now because they want to hold Xander and I feel like I don't get to spend enough time with him during the week. Working full time definitely sucks.

You ladies are chatty its hard to keep up!! I am glad this thread is there for me to unwind after long day at work.
@Adira: He is exclusively fed on breast milk (I pump) so hopefully he is not a picky eater. I am eating a wide variety of foods thanks to mom. She cooks lunch and there is plenty leftovers for dinner and its always something new everyday. I don't know how I am going to keep up with the cooking.. am just thankful for these few weeks while it lasts!!
I hear you ladies on working full time there is just not enough time in evenings to spend with lo and I might miss his rolling over during day when Im gone
So I was thinking perhaps the best situation would be to work from home. No stress with pumping and running to meetings and I could afford to keep nanny and get to see LO whenever I want during the day. Ah well enough with day dreaming.
@ALV91711: Those are good stats and great to hear your LO is doing well
@Smurfette: Hope your DH is more helpful today I would have been so mad. and you get to have some quality time with bubs on friday.

Mom fail, isaac's diaper somehow came undone and he peed on hi pj's. Poor guy. Kind of ruined our sleep.

@Smurfette: just nurse her away from everyone and even if she doesn't take a long time you can get in some snuggles after she nurses.

@Adira: Good to hear that hubs has been extra helpful. So cute that he was singing to him.

@silver1: That would be so awesome to have a job that you could work from home, but I think it might be hard to get work done that way.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@silver1: Hopefully he won't be picky! The texture thing though is probably a different beast than flavor, so who knows! And I'm sooooo jealous your mom cooks for you! Hubs and I have the same 5-6 meals over and over again because they're easy and we're lazy, haha.

And I agree with @ALV91711: I'd never get anything done if I worked at home, haha. I'd just play with Xander all day! I think part-time would probably be the best option for me. If I could either work 5 half-days or just 3 days a week, that would be AWESOME. But we can't afford for me to not work full-time so...

@ALV91711: Awww, sorry about the diaper mess!! At least it was just pee!!!

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@silver1: Working from home and a nanny would be so nice! you would need a nanny to get any work done.
@ALV91711: I am planning on nursing in her room every time. I won't nurse in front of DH's family, and she hates the cover. Usually won't eat with it on.
I have done that Mom fail before too, so you aren't alone!

So R woke up at 1, let her cry for 20 mins, went in there and she was hungry, so I nursed her. Then she took another 15 mins before she fully fell asleep. So I was up for about an hour. Then she was up at 5, nursed her and she feel right back asleep. I got ready and then I had to wake her up to leave. When I went into her room, her one arm was between the crib slats, hanging out. It was cute but at the same time worries me she is going to roll and her arm will be stuck. But I can't control how she rolls in her sleep. She was on her back when I left her. She is starting to scoot up to the one corner to sleep.

  38. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

Isaac has woken up the same amount of times as last night at almost the same times. I have to work on him not getting up so much. The last two times he wanted to nurse but he didn't nurse very well, so he probably is just doing it out of habit.

Tonight with DH home I'm going to see if he will go to him if needed and put him back to sleep the first couple times. Although tonight will probably be different since he has shots today.

Have I mentioned I hate daycare?!?!? We recently got a call from another daycare that we were put on a waiting list last November and they finally have a spot opening in December. After finding out that 2/3 of K's caretakers smoke, that was the last straw so put a deposit down and she'll be hopefully going to a hopefully better day care in a few months.

K also has her first cold. Her nose is so congested and she's learned to despise the Nose Frida and drops. It breaks my heart when she can't breathe and can't eat. And then yesterday I called the nurse because her eye was puffy and leaking and she said is sounded like the beginning of pink eye?!?

@sheskrafty: oh no! Hope she feels better soon and get eye clears up. so glad you'll be moving to a better daycare soon.

@ALV91711: good luck with the shots today!
