@shopaholic: Wow, that is a long stretch of sleep! That is too cute the babies playing together.
@Smurfette: That is early for photos. I hope DH's family doesn't drive you too crazy this weekend. That is so awesome that she is wearing your baptism dress. Hope the weekend goes well.

@travellingbee: There's a series on the blog about BLW with sooo much info. I had never heard of BLW until Hellobee, but it's really interesting. Here's the link to the series: http://www.hellobee.com/baby-led-weaning/
I think we are going to do baby led weaning, but I want to start with purees for a few weeks since the boys are preemies and might need a little extra time to be able to grab things well enough. We will probably start with purees around 6 month if they are showing the signs of being ready. Otherwise, we might wait an extra couple weeks. I'm really excited to try BLW. I think it sounds easier, cheaper, and like way more fun (minus the mess--that part I'm dreading.)

@shopaholic - That is an amazing stretch of sleep - so jealous! The pics are so cute - I love how they are interacting and the hello kitty A&A is so cute! Daycare tells DH that Liam enjoys playing with the other babies but I don't pick up so I've never seen him with others.
@Smurfette: That is so annoying about DH's family - I hope everything goes well and that you can enjoy it. Hope your pictures go well - it is early but I'm sure it will be worth it! I am so torn about the idea of doing more professional photos - we had some good luck and got a free session with an amazing photographer for newborn photos and I really want to do some more - are you doing a package deal for the first year?
I had a crazy week at work - I'm so happy to be done for the weekend - so happy that I decided to drink a giant margarita with my dinner... We have DH's brother and his wife in from out of town this weekend so it will probably be pretty busy. Liam is still pretty congested and has a lot of nasty eye boogies - he seems to be in a pretty good mood though. I really hope he can get over this cold soon! I've noticed that he is starting to really love hearing us read to him - his favorites are Goodnight Moon and It's Time to Sleep my Love. It's so sweet especially when DH reads to him before bed.

@Mrs. High Heels: I like the idea of doing purees and BLW - I am interested in BLW but was also planning on purees so it's nice to remember that it doesn't have to be all or nothing - a combination seems like a good idea!

At my mom group today, K was the youngest baby. We had a discussion about starting solids, and several moms started their babies on solids at 4 and 5 months! I'm holding off till 6 months if possible. But another friend advised me to skip the rice cereal, and just go to the 2nd foods (purees)? Said the rice cereal caused constipation and our old ped had said something about not liking rice cereal either.
When are you guys planning to start introducing foods? Anyone else thinking of skipping rice cereal?

@dojo: Yes, we did a package for 4, 8, 12, and 18 months.

Ugh... 1:45 and I'm up to pump. I was supposed to get up an hour ago, but I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. Soooooo tired...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I up nursing even though I don't think she was super hungry. But she had cried/ fussed for almost 40 mins.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh no!!! I was posting hoping everyone was asleep! Sorry you're up too! Hope this doesn't make you too tired for your pictures. That's today, right?

@Adira: how are you feeling?? how's your fever? i think pumping every 2 hours in the MOTN is ROUGH... can you do every 3 or every 4? i'd think that'd still be pretty good for you considering xander's been letting you STTN all this time.
@shopaholic: we're probably going to start a little after 6 months. i can't imagine starting at 4 or 5 months - J can't even sit upright on his own yet! i'm going to skip rice cereal this time around, though we did offer it as a first food with N. i'm thinking i'll start with avocados.

@shopaholic: We will be starting at six months (if she's ready by then) and DEFINETLY skipping cereals. There are some good threads on here about why.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: So I totally failed at pumping every two hours. I pumped after three and now it's been four and I'm nursing Xander. Hopefully that's good enough! I don't feel any worse, but I'm not sure what my temp is. I had to come feed Xander before I could take it. I'll take it after. Although I feel hot, so I'm worried it's gone up. Though maybe I just have something else. My breasts don't really feel any different to me and now I'm not even feeling that painful tugging while breastfeeding that I noticed yesterday!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yes, they are this morning. I couldn't fall back asleep either for awhile. Nursing her again and then have to get in the shower, so tired. Going to be a longggg day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Ugh, that sucks. I always have trouble falling back asleep if I nursed in the middle of the night. Hopefully your pictures go well this morning! I can't wait to see them! You'll share at least one with us, right??? And are your in-laws also showing up today? Hopefully they aren't as bad as you anticipate and you're able to enjoy the day!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Temp is down to 97.6! I'm taking that as a good sign!
@shopaholic: I'm so impressed (and jealous) that K slept for so long the other night!! Hopefully this is just another step in the right direction and soon you'll be getting longer stretches out of her all the time!! And that mommy group looks so fun! K's so adorable!!!
@Mrs. Blue: haha, I'm scared of the mess of BLW too! I'm not a neat freak or anything, but I HATE food messes! Ugh.
@dojo: Awww, that's so sweet that Liam is getting into books and enjoys having you guys read to him!!! And I hope he feels better soon.
@shopaholic: We're planning on starting solids around 6 months. And I don't know if we'll skip the rice/oatmeal cereals or not. I think a reason to start with them is because it's unlikely that your baby is allergic, right? And I'm wondering if really ANY food that's not BM/formula might cause some constipation in the beginning... ugh. Not looking forward to the diaper changes that will occur when we introduce solids!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: yeah, they should be here after lunch. Joy! I guess you didn't see my post last night about my SIL. I am already telling myself to breathe. And hope she doesn't breathe on her. And yes, I will share the link to the photographers blog! Glad that your fever is down.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Was that the post about your SIL calling R "my baby?" That kind of stuff would drive me INSANE!!!! Hopefully she's not that annoying when she is actually there. I hate it when people act like YOUR children are theirs!!! I think it's actually pretty disrespectful. Is this the SIL that was sick too? Do you know if her and her family are all better? Sorry you have to deal with people like this.

@Adira: Oh, that sucks about your temp and pumping in the MOTN. Glad to hear it's gone down at least.
@Mrs. High Heels: @Arden: @Adira: Glad to hear you guys all want to wait to start solids too! I actually was saying how I wanted to delay it as long as possible, because I am not looking forward to the different poop. But a couple of the moms told me how it's better to start sooner than later because the babies develop texture aversion. I guess I need to look into this and research some more. I had NO idea and not mentally prepared for my little baby to be close to eating solids yet! You mean to tell me she isn't a "newborn" anymore?! wah!
I DO think I will probably skip rice cereal though. I think I've heard enough comments and snippets against it.

@ALV91711: Thanks! I'm hoping for a repeat today! She was SO tired last night! I think the fresh air made her sleepy!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yep! Same one that was sick. I guess she is better been back to posting on FB every 5 mins about working out. She put another post up about coming to see her baby this morning. I said something to DH and he was like another one. He knew the one last night would upset me. He says it is a southern thing, BS. I am getting a pedicure. Hoping to relax before they get here.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Yeah, my BFF was telling me how she wished she had started solids earlier because she thinks that may be why her daughter has such an issue with textures. But my parents didn't start my brother and I on solids until 6 months and we were fine, so I'm not sure the timing matters. My bet is that some babies are just naturally more picky than others. My BFF's daughter had issues with textures outside of food too, like grass and sand and stuff. She hated feeling them. So I think her food thing might be related. I guess we'll all find out soon enough!
@Smurfette: Ugh, I do NOT get it. No one should refer to another's child as "my baby"! I think that's messed up. I hope your husband talk to her. Though I hope he doesn't try to blame you about it and say "Hey sis, Smurfette gets really upset when you refer to R as your baby" and instead says something like "Hey sis, I don't really appreciate you referring to R as your baby. She's Smurfette's and my baby, okay?" Good luck today!!! Maybe it won't be too bad.

@Mrs. Blue: I can just imagine the mess of feeding two boys.
@dojo: A margarita sounds like the perfect end to the week. Hopefully Liam is feeling better soon. Having a sick baby is no fun.
@shopaholic: 4 & 5 months seems so soon to start food. We are going to wait until 6 months or close to it if he seems ready before. Our babies are growing too fast to already be thinking of these things.
Last night we were discussing what we are going to have to do to make our house safe for when Isaac becomes mobile.
@Adira: Glad your temp has come down. Hope you are feeling better. You must be tired today since you aren't used to getting up in the night.
@Smurfette: I hope your DH talks to his sister about this. That would drive me crazy. Why can't she just say my niece. Hope the pictures went well this morning.
What a night last night. Isaac was going down around 9:30. He woke himself up a couple times. Third time he starts screeming. It was loud and nothing would calm him. DH and I took turns, but we pretty much just had to hold him until he stopped. He did stop after what felt like forever and then nursed and was asleep in bed at 11. He woke up a couple times and then at 4:30 shrieking again. At least it didn't last very long the second time.
After he nursed at 7 DH took him so I could get more sleep. He said Isaac was acting normal this morning unlike yesterday. He is nursing again and I'm hoping will have a nap so that I can. I am pooped.

@ALV91711: Yikes! Sounds like a rough night! I hope you're able to take a nap!!

@ALV91711: I plan on just tossing them immediately into the bath tub!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Phew!! Just put Xander down for a nap and he was screaming his head off!! I've never heard him sound so hysterical!!! Thank goodness for a video monitor so I could ensure that he was okay! I ended up basically just letting him CIO and I went in after 5 minutes. He continued to cry while I was in there but I just told him I loved him and rubbed his head and belly and then left. 5 more minutes of screaming and then he finally fell asleep!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: that isn't too long of crying to go to sleep. Hope he had a nice long nap.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Only 35 minutes, but that's okay because now he is going to eat and he'll be going to bed around 7:00 so it works out.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Sorry y'all had another rough night.
@Adira: R has only had 30 mins naps today. She was crying so hard when I put her down this afternoon so I ended going back in and nursed her. She ate for awhile so I feel bad, think she was still hungry. But then she fell right asleep.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Awww, poor R!! How's everything going with the in-laws?
Do you guys think this screaming Xander is doing might be part of the 4 month sleep regression? He's never been this hysterical before when I've put him down for a nap or bed! He might fuss for a little bit, but usually he's pretty mellow and falls asleep easily. I just put him to bed for the night and got more hysterical screaming! I don't know what's up with my normally sweet little baby!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: It wasn't super bad. They ended up leaving cause we were going to put R to sleep and one nephew is out of control and didn't want him to wake her up. Glad about that. She passed out nursing, didn't move when I put her in the crib. Of course now she flipped on her tummy. I still am looking forward to having my family here tomorrow as well.
Not sure about Xander. Had he been fussy today? Or just for naps and bed?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Glad to hear the visit wasn't too bad! Is the baptism tomorrow? Get lots of pics!
No, he wasn't fussy today, just for his last nap of the day and to bed. Otherwise he was pretty much his happy smiley self! Which is why I was so shocked by the hysterical crying!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: hysterical crying, sounds like what we dealt with last night. I hope this is not an ongoing thing for our boys.
@Smurfette: Glad today went well enjoy the time with your family tomorrow.

@ALV91711: Ugh, sorry you had to deal with the hysterics too! It's so hard to listen to.

@Adira: and after the hysterical crying last night we talked about baby #2. We must be crazy!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
It is 7:10 in the morning and I am pumping cause I was leaking so much and rock hard cause R is STILL asleep. She has been asleep for a little over 12 hours. DH just went in there to make sure she was ok, cause she moved and we can't see her head on the monitor. I guess she knows she has a big day today and is resting up!! Of course DH and I couldn't sleep. 10 mins into pumping and I have got 8 ozs so far!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
12 hrs and 45 mins!!!!! I froze 12 ozs of milk since I too mount bags last night for tomorrow already.
