@Adira: boo! I don't get our boobs sometimes.

@Smurfette: Want to trade? Your boobs seem to produce way more than mine.

@Adira: LOL!! It does amaze me how much less I get Monday verses Friday.

@Smurfette: I just hope I can hit my 15oz quota for the day. This is the week I'm sending Xander with frozen milk and I have to save everything I pump for the weekend because we're going to a wedding and Xander will be with his grandparent's. I need to be able to provide them with ~65oz for the weekend!

Hi ladies. Checking in. L had been doing better the first few nights after we got back from our trip but he is once again back to waking up all night. He keeps rolling onto his tummy and then freaking out. He is soooo stuffy and his gums are clearly killing him. He wimpers when you touch them and while he is eating. Poor bubba. Tired Momma.

In other news... my baby is wearing size 9 months! AGH! He is growing up too fast!

@Adira: That's a ton of milk to pump! Wow! My supply has been a bit off the past few days. I might start taking Mother's milk again. That stuff works well for me.

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@travellingbee: I know! It's freaking me out! I have to pump 15oz Monday-Thursday to make it (I have 5oz already from Sunday that I will send as well).

When you've used Mother's Milk in the past, how much of an increase did you see?

Awww, poor L! And poor Momma that he keeps waking up in the middle of the night! That's hard. Hopefully he cuts his teeth soon too so he's not in some much pain!

Oh my gosh, big baby! Xander's finally transitioned to all 6 months. He had been able to get away with onesies that were 3 months, but his torso is now too long, so they don't fit anymore. And even some of his 6 months, I feel like are maybe getting small. Although I think the dryer shrinking them might be to blame. You'd think babies clothes would be pre-shrunk! Grrr.

@Adira: When I did it every 4 hours as directed, within about 12 hours I increased from pumping about 3 ounces per session to about 5-6. So almost double. I usually don't have any issues with supply so I don't take it regularly, but when I had mastitis it took a hit, also when I had rotovirus, and last week I had a light period and I think that caused the decrease again.

@Adira: Is that going to take out all your milk in the freezer? Are you ready to be gone for a whole weekend? My parents are coming to babysit Sat night and we are going out to dinner. I am just going to keep my fingers crossed she goes down to sleep nice and easy for them. I am sure Mom will rock her for awhile.

  9. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@travellingbee: OMG, that's amazing!!!! I might need to get me some of that!!! So far I haven't taken anything, but my supply has been able to just keep up with Xander's intake. But being able to pump extra would be so sweet!

@Smurfette: I haven't really counted the bags, but I think it's going to almost empty my freezer, haha. Probably not completely, but it'll definitely deplete it. I'm definitely nervous about the whole weekend though. I actually think Xander will probably be fine (although the new hysterical crying might not be fun for them... hopefully they manage okay). I'm actually more worried about ME! I'm soooooo not looking forward to having to pump all the time while I'm at the wedding. And I'm worried about my supply taking a hit. AND I'm worried that Xander will be totally into bottles and not want the boob anymore when I get back.

That sounds fun that you're FINALLY going to get to go out a date! Hopefully R is easy-going with your parents! It'll only be for a few hours though, so I'm sure it will be fine!

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@travellingbee: 9 months? Wow! R still has to wear 0-3 for anything with a waist, cause 3-6 is too big on her, but 0-3 are too short on her. Good thing it is summer, so her pants can be capri's. Sorry you are having rough sleep nights. Hopefully he will figure out how to roll off his belly soon. Or learn to sleep that way. R always rolls onto her tummy to sleep now. Even if we put her in the crib asleep, she rolls over within 5 mins.

@Adira: I have the Motherlove More Milk Plus. It is really nasty but I do think it helps when I take it. I do take Fenugreek at least 2 times a day and I think that helps.

And don't worry Xander will totally want your boobs when you pick him up. I mean what man doesn't love boobs?

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: hahaha, I hope so!!!! I'm worried that the in-laws will feed him too quickly with the bottle and he'll get used to the easy fast flow over the two days that I'm gone. And then the boob will just be too much work and he'll refuse.

@Adira: Yay for Xander standing for a few seconds! Honestly, I only started being okay with K trying to put some weight on her legs in the past couple of weeks, because of some of the milestones I read on here! I kept saying to everyone she could hurt herself or something! lol! Over-protective mama maybe?
Sorry to hear you guys are still sick. Hopefully this week will get better for you.

@travellingbee: Poor L. I can only imagine. Dreading when K actually starts rolling over for the wake-ups from it. I hear it takes a week or two for them to get that they can roll back?
9 months! He must be a tall boy!

I just took out a lot of 0-3 month clothes out of rotation this weekend. She can still fit them, but like @Smurfette: the pants were all capris. AND, I was just ready to start using some of her 3-6 clothes while they're still the right season! She has a TON of 3-6 clothes, because I imagined she'd be in all these cute dresses for the summer! Can't believe she's so close to 5 months before I started pulling them out! And because she got to wear 2 of her new dresses for a birthday party and a Bat Mitvah this weekend, I thought I'd share pics!

@shopaholic: I bought too many 3-6 shorts for summer and day care cause I thought that she would be in the them by now. At least it is hot here till October, so hopefully she will get some use of them. I have started her dresses in 3-6 cause 0-3 were shirts on her!

K is so cute. I love her sucking her thumb. And cute dresses too!

@shopaholic: Gahhhh, K is soooooo friggin cute!!! I love her expression as she's sucking her thumb! She looks like she's concentrating on it really hard! Xander decided yesterday he was going to try sucking BOTH thumbs at the same time! What a nut!

@Smurfette: @Adira: Thanks ladies! LOL! K definitely has my facial expressions! They crack me up!

And @Adira: oh man, K has been trying to get both FISTS in her mouth at the same time for a couple of months! I'll see if I can find a pic. lol!

    @shopaholic: OMG sooooo cute!
My MIL always says that boys grow out of their clothes faster because they can't wear dresses. To some extent she right. L can't wear 6 month anymore because he is so long waisted that they are tight at the crotch. If he could wear dresses, he'd be fine in 6 months. He's not that chubby. He's just long and solid.

....and... not that I'd trade my little boy for anything in the world, but when I see pics like that with cute little dresses, I get a teensie bit jealous of all those cute girl clothes! GAH! So many options for girls. Boys can do onesies, shorts and tees or rompers. That's about it.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@travellingbee: I know what you mean! I get especially frustrated when I go shopping for clothes because I feel like there are sooooooo many more girl outfits and options!!!

  22. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@travellingbee: Thanks! awww.. that's true about dresses stretching longer as tunics, dresses, tops, etc. BUT, I know quite a few very stylish boys and I have to say, there are some amazing options for boys these days! They all wear fedoras, suspenders, bow-ties, etc. And the shoes! Something about little boys in shoes gets me more than girls wearing shoes.

@Smurfette: oh my gosh! Those hands! lol! Hideous right? But they're kind of genius! They're magnets that hold the harness/seat buckle open, so you don't have to dig them out from under the baby! I learned about them from a couple of moms one day at Nordstrom. I wish I had them since she was teeny tiny, because we're always digging the buckles out from under! You can clip them anywhere to your own preference on the car seat. They're called LulaClips.

@travellingbee: But your wallet probably likes you having a boy better. I think I spend way more on headbands and etc then I ever would with a boy.

@shopaholic: Never heard of that. I will have to look it up.

@travellingbee: One thing that is working for us to get through the wakeups from rolling over - I rolled up a towel lengthwise and put it under the crib sheet. You could also use a pool noodle but we didn't have one. Works as a speed bump pretty well. I wouldn't recommend it if it creates any looseness in the sheet or if it makes it likely that the sheet will come off the mattress, but I feel comfortable with it and it has improved our sleep a lot!

R napped for 35 mins again today. She had just fallen asleep when I got there, so she slept the 30 mins home. Then maybe 10 more minutes in the Ktan. She is cranky. Nursing her now and praying she goes to sleep good. She's been coughing and I got a good amount out of her nose with the Nose Frida.

Night one of solo parenting and I can't wait for DH to get home Friday night. I hope her cough doesn't keep her up. She needs to sleep!! Even more when not feeling good.

Yikes! Xander is eating an hour earlier than normal... I'm guessing that means he won't make it to his 5:00 a.m. feeding which will totally mess up his schedule for the day. Ugh.

@Adira: He might!! Fingers crossed for you

  28. Adira

@Smurfette: Yeah, I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed! He just woke up crying 15 minutes ago, but after a couple minutes, he fell back asleep on his own. So that was good!

@Adira: sorry just catching up .. my lo wakes up screaming in pain from nap/sleep though it seems to happen mainly in evening. My mom says he is ok during the day I guess he is distracted enough in playmat and other toys.
@travellingbee: @Adira: I think the lack of variety in boy clothes might be a US thing. I have a few outfits as gifts from Europe and India and those are way more fun!! I love dressing LO in those too bad he is already outgrown most of them.

  30. Adira

OMG, he made it to 5:00!! My boobs are friggin ROCKS! Sooooo glad he's eating now!

    @Adira: Yay!! R slept till 5 well.

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yay!! Go our babies! Although Xander did wake up at 3:30 and babble to himself for about 30 minutes. At least he wasn't upset though.

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

So the state changed regulations and day care can no longer swaddle R for her naps. They are worried about SIDS and want the babies to be able to move. Even though her arms are swaddled out. So stupid, she can have a regular sleep sack. So I will bring one in tomorrow and see if that helps. Going to order a sound machine to put under her crib to see if that helps too.

Apparently they aren't even allowed to let babies sleep in the swings anymore. They see one fall asleep and have to move them to the crib. I feel bad for the teachers, they are going to have some cranky babies on their hands.

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

I just called day care and she has only slept for 40 mins today so far. Better then yesterday, but the teacher said that you can tell she misses the swaddle. I hope they can get her to take another nap this afternoon.

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh wow, that's crazy!!! And that sucks for all the babies that are used to certain things. Poor R. Hopefully a sleep sack will work for her. But that sucks about the babies that are used to sleeping in swings! Xander sleeps in a swing at daycare ALL THE TIME!

So I broke down and bought some More Milk Plus. This sickness is kicking my supply's ass and I'm really worried about having enough milk to provide for Xander, especially because we're going to be out of town this weekend. UGH! Breastfeeding is so stressful sometimes. Which probably doesn't help the supply, haha.

  36. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: What I want to know how it is better for a baby to not sleep? I mean, make a parent sign a consent form to use a swaddle. She can move, her arms are out.

What about the 6 week babies at DC?

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I agree 100%! They should at least let parents sign a consent to do it or something. Some babies NEED to be swaddled!!! Poor babies.

  38. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Apparently you have a doctor's note up to 3 months. So we couldn't even do that. Poor thing. I think day care is just going to have to do a better job of putting her in the crib and just letting her cry.

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, that's really too bad. Poor R! I hope she's able to adjust okay.

Blurg, I'm sooooo dreading picking up Xander today. I'm so worried that they'll have given him all four bottles. And I have already had to add in extra pump sessions to get my 15oz for the day... I'll never be able to pump an extra 5oz if they used that last bottle.

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I am sorry! R is going to have all 4 bottles today, and I think I will just have the 20oz for tomorrow. I don't get last week I was pumping more then I am this week:(
