    @ALV91711: At home we just do the same routine as bedtime. Lights out, sound machine on, swaddled arms out (although I did it much loser last night, going to see if we can do away with it) and in the crib when we see she is tired. She just cries much louder and longer then she does at night. I think the problem is that on the weekends, many naps are in the car seat cause we are out and about. This past weekend, I wore her in the Ktan for naps since there were people over I knew she wouldn't nap in her crib. Then day care does something different. Although they are starting to put her in the crib and let her cry and she usually falls asleep.

    How was last night for you? Glad he is moving up bedtime.

    @shopaholic: When we are at home and I see she is getting tired, I put her in the sleep sack, turn on the sound machine, and turn the light off. She will cry 5-20 mins before she falls asleep. Naps were always a battle in our house, and still are somewhat, till we sleep trained her. She never naps longer then an hour at home, most are 30-45mins.

    @shopaholic: We still use the boppy lounger for naps I think he likes the cozy feeling. We have fisher price gym and sometimes he plays in it until he gets tired and just naps in there.
    We don't do anything special like making it dark or anything we just pull the curtains a bit so sunlight does not fall on him directly.

    @Adira: Have fun this weekend! I know it is going to be hard cause you are going to miss Xander so much but he is going to give you a huge smile when you pick him up. And he is still going to want the boobs! Enjoy the time with just DH and even better, hotel sex! Or is that just me that thinks hotel sex is always awesome

    Does everyone else's babies spit up and drool all in their crib???? I nursed R at 430, and then she went back to sleep. I went in there at 620 ish, I sort of heard her stirring and there was two huge drool spots on the sheet. One had a little spit up and it was on her face. I think the spit up is probably cause she was coughing in her sleep. But the drool is out of control.

    @Smurfette: last night he woke up at the same times as the night before. I'm just glad he is going to bed earlier. Hope you have a good lunch tomorrow and a great date with your hubby.

    @Adira: Enjoy your adult weekend. I know you will miss Xander but it will be good for you guys.

    @Smurfette: He doesn't drool in his sleep that much, but during the day it is crazy.

    @Smurfette: See... all those things that work fine at night, piss her off in the day! She's just such a social bee and wants to be a part of everything and fights naps. If I consciously try to help her nap, she gets so worked up and takes twice as long just to calm down.

    No, K never spits up in her crib, and I guess barely drools in her sleep. Nothing on the bed, just sometimes she has white crusties around her mouth.

    @silver1: Boo you. lol! You're so lucky you have one of those that will fall asleep playing! That's only ever happened ONCE and I didn't even get to witness it. 100% due to jet lag.

    @Adira: Have a fun weekend!

    We got for the Dtap shot today and maybe a mommy meetup in the park afterwards. I'm thinking both should help our nap situation today.

    @shopaholic: That is why R has trouble napping at day care, she doesn't want to miss anything. She will nap the longest in the swing, only a certain one, cause I think she feels like she is still part of everything.

    @Smurfette: I've got a really active little miss! I think she usually hates being strapped into anything because she wants to be up and playing already. Maybe we'll have an early crawler or walker. I can get her to nap in the swing only if I get her at the right calm and sleepy window period. But even then, it usually takes 1/2 hour of swinging before she falls asleep. These days, if I can just get her to lay down calm anywhere, even if she's not asleep, I'll call it a win. At least she's getting some kind of rest I figure.

    @shopaholic: Everyone tells me that I am going to be in trouble when she does start crawling, cause she is always wiggling, kicking, and rolling. I can't wait though.

    @Smurfette: I know! I was just telling DH last night that one of my baby apps recommended starting to baby-proof. I'm going to have to set aside a weekend with some help to do that, because we are NOT baby-proofed at all yet! It's bittersweet they're growing up so fast, but I think for the sake of my hands, arms, and back, that it will be better when she can be more mobile!

    @Adira: Have a great weekend!

    My son is out to get me. He got up at 7:45 am today and it is now 2pm and he hasn't napped. I have tried and tried, he was almost there, but he just won't let himself sleep. This after being up every 2 hours last night. I'm exhausted.

    @ALV91711: sleep any better last night?

    A has been fighting naps something fierce today. Poor guy is so tired but just won't succumb! I feel badly for him.

    @aprk: not really. Asleep at 9. Up at 12, 2:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30. The only time he didn't nurse was 5:30 and after the last nursing he was up for the day. He had an hour nap this morning and a very short nap this afternoon while we were shopping. I hope A sleeps good tonight.

    @aprk: You must be just as tired as I am! Isaac went to bed easier tonight and was asleep at 9. Now I guess I should get to bed.

    I decided to try rice cereal first with Isaac, and tonight was the first try. I mixed it with breast milk and he loved it! It was so cute. I probably made about a teaspoon and he was leaning forward for more. I didn't think he would let me put a spoon in his mouth, since he still hates bottles, but he surprised me. I'm hoping that maybe that will fill him up a bit more for the night and help him sleep better or longer.

    @shopaholic: I started babyproofing this weekend (replaced all the outlet covers with the baby kind), but I still have to put locks on the cabinets, toilets, doors, etc. And maybe put a gate in the kitchen to keep her in the living room.

    @Adira: Awesome and so sweet
    @ALV91711: cool hopefully he sleeps thru tonite! Im curious did your pedi recommend rice cereal as first food? We are not starting just yet but I'm leaning towards a fruit puree most likely banana.
    So this week has been busy interviewing nannies and this is so hard!! There is a day care right next door but it has wait list until next year so our options are limited unless we go to a further out daycare. But I was leaning toward nanny anyway for at least the first year. They all seem so sweet but as my friend discovered not all are as equally competent taking care of baby. There is one nanny who I like so far but she is a bit more expensive. The nanny will not start for a few more weeks, I just want this finalized soon and not wait until last minute. I am also planning to have a trial run for a week or 2 while my mom/me observe and show her my expectations so hopefully that should smooth things out.

    @shopaholic: no baby proofing done yet I should probably get the supplies and have them handy for when lo shows signs of crawling,

  22. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

    @silver1: Yes, she said cereal first, then meat and veggies and fruit last. She also said to just feed him directly from the table if we wanted. I do plan on doing that but not until closer to six months. After talking about it with my mom and going back and forth I thought I'd try a bit of rice cereal to see if that would help fill him up for the night. I fed him an hour after nursing, got him ready for bed and he was ready to nurse again and go to sleep.

    I hope your nanny search goes well and you find someone great. It is good that you will have some time with whoever you pick so that you will be comfortable being away.

    @Smurfette: Hope you had a great date night!

    @Adira: that is great she is sending you pictures. I know you are counting down till you cann pick him up.

    @aprk: @ALV91711: I hope you both got some sleep last night!

    Date night was awesome. I texted Mom to make sure she ate and went to sleep ok. She said R fussed for awhile but finally settled down. I think she probably fussed cause they didn't shut the door so R could probably hear the tv or see the light from the living room. That was the only thing I didn't tell her.

    R is still asleep so I guess she had fun with her grandparents! I am up pumping.

    I went to lunch with a friend yesterday and did a little shopping after. It was nice to have some time to myself. DH said she did great at lunch with him and his friend. Just say there looking around at everything, ate her bottle, and fell asleep in his arms.

    Also DH and I did the video test yesterday, R can do them all. DH said yesterday at lunch she kicked her feet and it shook the table and almost split a beer. She has some strong legs!!!

    @Smurfette: Sounds like a good day. R probably had so much fun with her grandparents. Enjoy some snuggles today.

    @travellingbee: That is a rough night. Did he sleep better after midnight?

    We did not have any better of a night last night. Isaac was up at roughly all the same times as the night before.

    @travellingbee: @aprk: @ALV91711: Sorry ladies!! I know how hard it is when they aren't sleeping.

    @travellingbee: is the rolling waking him up?

    We haven't even thought about baby proofing yet...........

  34. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

    @ALV91711: Nope, he slept crappy all night. At around midnight, after the 3rd wake up, I started to melt down and my wonderful DH took the monitor and went and slept in the guest room. So, L didn't eat until 645 when I got up but DH said he was up every hour needed soothing. Binky or whatever. Thank goodness for understanding hubby that knew I was losing it.

    It isn't rolling now, because we did the towel under the sheet and it has stopped him from getting to his belly. I don't know why he is waking so often. He is doing it during naps too.

    I guess regarding A's sleep, he never slept too much better than this. I guess he used to do a bit longer stretch every so often. I'm just thankful I stay home wi him, otherwise I'd be a zombie going into work!! I know babies are biologically designed to wake up at night, but I wonder if I can get him back down without nursing.

    He puts himself to sleep without nursing at the beginning of the night. Sometimes it takes a while, though ...

    @Smurfette: Yes!!! It was such a fun weekend! Friday night, we went out to dinner together and then met up with our friends. Then Saturday, we hung out at the pool (actually, three different pools at this place) ALL DAY until we finally had to get ready for the wedding and then attend the wedding. It was so much fun!

    The only bummer was that I was pumping when the food got served, so by the time I got back, my plate was cold. And I couldn't really sleep in or anything because I only let myself go 7 hours between pumping overnight (and 2.5-3 hours during the day). And OMG, it took me OVER AN HOUR to even remotely empty my breasts after sleeping 7 hours! It SUCKED. I was so glad to get Xander and nurse him!!!
