@ALV91711: @travellingbee: @silver1: Yeah, I don't know why my mom was being like that! I guess her and my husband are of the same mindset that lower percentile = bad and that the baby needs more food! It's so frustrating because they just don't understand, so it's hard to argue with them! And I THOUGHT I made it clear that my pediatrician said his drop in weight growth it TOTALLY NORMAL and that she isn't concerned! But that's apparently not good enough for them.
@silver1: Yeah, I even said that to my mom! I was like "Don't you think that maybe I know him a little better than daycare? Don't you think if he was hungry, I would know?" She reluctantly agreed that I probably did know him better than daycare, but she apparently still thinks I'm starving my son! So frustrating!!!
@ALV91711: How'd the rest of your night go?
@travellingbee: Glad to hear your night went well!! Hopefully tonight is similar!
@Smurfette: Glad to hear she lost the nap battle!!! Xander won it yesterday, so I'm nervous about today.
So I'm frustrated with the Medela PISA. I tried again this morning, but after 15 minutes, I only got about an ounce out. I hooked up my old pump and in 10 minutes, I got another ounce out, so I know there was more in there. Now I'm not sure what to do tomorrow! I'm scared to bring the Medela PISA to work and not be able to pump as much as I need to.

@Adira: I would start a thread and see if there a trick to it. Sorry! I would be frustrated too.

@Adira: The rest of the night was ok. He woke up about 6 to nurse and then stayed awake until 7 when he decided to nurse again, then slept to 8 and nursed again and got up for the day.

Ugh, Xander's going through a growth spurt or something. He's been fussy and wanting to eat more than normal (and refuses to nap except on the book) and so Hubs is taking this as proof that he ALWAYS needs more food and is accusing me of being stubborn and not feeding him enough! FML.
@Smurfette: Good idea!
@aprk: So I had it about halfway. Maybe I could have gone higher, but it was already feeling a little uncomfortable, so I'm not sure. My issue might be flannel size though. Maybe I'll order a different size and try it again at home before bringing it to work with me.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
OMG, this is HORRIBLE. We're trying to get Xander to take a nap and he's just SCREAMING his head off!!! I don't know what to do!!! He used to be such a good napper, this is heart-breaking!
What do you ladies do when your baby just refuses to nap? Do you ever give up, or are you supposed to just keep trying? We're doing Ferber at the moment, so I went in after 5 minutes and he just looked sooooooo hysterical and upset and his expression was BEGGING me to pick him up, but I just rubbed him, told him I loved him and that he needed to nap, and left, and now he's freaking out some more. Someone make it stop!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I always give at least 20 minutes. He might do better without checks. Did it make him more mad?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I don't know if it made him more mad - he just sounds hysterical. He seems to calm down a little when I go in, but then goes straight back to hysterical when I leave.
Also, it's been almost an hour - you're saying I should have given up on this nap a while ago??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: if he has been crying for an hour, even yep. I would get him and put him in the car and drive around.
See if that puts him to sleep. Sorry!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: The car has never put him to sleep, so not sure that will really work...
I feel like such a terrible mom, letting him cry this much... I hate this.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: bummer. That usually works for us. Could you wear him?? How long normally does it take him to fall asleep?
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: gl with a new flange size. I hope it works better for you! Sorry about the screamy nap. ;/ I usually give up on failed
Naps after about 20 minutes and then try again the next hour.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
OMG!!!!! Xander just rolled back to front!!!!!! I'm so proud!!!! Guess naps are for suckahs!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: woo hoo!! Guess the lack of sleep gave him energy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Seriously!!! I was thinking he'd NEVER do it!!! Of course, he just did it that one time, got stuck on his tummy, and now probably will never do it again, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: we haven't seem R from belly to back again. Apparently she is a one trick pony with that.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: So we need to combine our two babies to make one super baby!
And Xander's napping on the boob again... I hope this doesn't indicate what bedtime will be like...
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: That is so exciting that he rolled. I hope his napping goes back to normal. It is. I fun having a tired baby.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: must be something in the water. R was half asleep nursing and the two minutes I held her. Put her in the crib and 5 minutes later, crying for 30 mins and was getting worse. Nursing her again to try and calm her down. I know she is tired been almost 3 hours since her last nap. Which all have been crappy today.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I hope you have better luck with R! Xander pretty much didn't nap ALL DAY today except for on the boob (so less than an hour total for the day of napping). BUT he did go to sleep just fine, so yay!!! Hope he sleeps okay tonight!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: 15 mins and still crying but was asleep till I put her in the crib. I don't want to go back in there cause I don't want to repeat this every night. I don't know what is going on this weekend with her.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Did she ever fall asleep I hope?? Guess this weekend has just been the weekend of cranky babies for us! I'm nervous about daycare tomorrow - if he's as fussy as he's been this weekend, I suspect they will end up giving him all four bottles, just to shut him up!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She did! Took about 20 mins. I am not sure what is going on. The past two or three weeks she fusses off and on for 10 mins and is out. She never cries but this weekend has been horrible. I wonder now if it Fridays mess was something else and not they lack of sleep sack. Oh well I will keep doing the sleep sack for a while.

@Adira: Woohoo for rolling!! I am still waiting for J to roll for me. He gets on his side and 3/4 to belly but then rolls back onto his back. He is such a tease!
@Smurfette: Hope the fussiness is just one time and she sleeps it off the night.
Tonite J seemed thirsty an hour after feeding and was acting fussy. He already had spit up some of bm and I didn't want his tummy upset anymore. So I gave him some pedialyte and he drank it fine and fell asleep. Anyone gives lo anything to drink other than bm/formula?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@silver1: He hasn't drank anything else. I was just asking my mom about this the other day actually.
@Adira: @Smurfette: Hope your both getting good sleeps tonight.
Our night has started out great. Isaac was in bed asleep about 9:30. It is now 1:30 and it is the first time he has woken up. I'm hoping for another long stretch.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@silver1: we haven't given her anything but BM and formula. I was wondering the other day about water. Think we are going to wait till solids to give it to her.
@ALV91711: that is a good stretch! Go I!!! She woke up a little after 3, fuzzing, kept looking like she would fall back asleep, then after 30 mins it turned into full on crying. Then she fell asleep nursing, and I couldn't get back to sleep. I should have washed my hair this morning but I didn't, wanted a little more sleep. Just woke her up and trying to get her to nurse a little.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@silver1: I haven't given Xander anything else to drink yet.
@ALV91711: How'd the rest of your night go? 9:30 to 1:30 is a pretty decent stretch!
@Smurfette: Ugh, sorry to hear you had a MOTN wake-up and couldn't fall back asleep! That's the worst!!!
So my husband is soooooooooo irritating!!! Xander woke up at 4:00 and Hubs immediately was all "He must be hungry. You don't feed him enough. Maybe after you breastfeed him at night, we should give him a couple more ounces in a bottle because he's not getting enough from you!" I wanted to strangle him! So I wait a few minutes to see if Xander will fall back asleep on his own and he's not, so I get up and Hubs is all "Are you going to go feed him???" Grrrrr. I said "No, I'm going to see if he'll fall back asleep first." WHICH HE DID!!!!! NOT HUNGRY!
Also, Xander's a weirdo! The way I got him to fall back asleep was I gave him his pacifier, which he happily sucked on (indicating he was NOT hungry), but when I tried to leave, he started crying. I think he just wanted some attention. So I stayed with him a little bit longer and gave him his blanket and he ended up pulling the blanket up over his head! What a goober! So then I could leave the room because he couldn't see me anyway, but I had to stay up until he fell asleep so I could move the blanket off his face, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Men!! That is too funny how he fell asleep.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, if it wasn't so dark, I would've taken a picture!! Although I wonder if maybe he doesn't like his nightlight and wanted it dark? Maybe that's why he pulled the blanket over his head? I have no idea...

Rough night here. Went to sleep easy at 7:15. Woke at 8,9,1130 (ate), 3:00 (was inconsolable-- ate) and just now at 7:00. It was so good the last couple of days!! And I'm sick now, so i really needed the sleep!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Awww, sorry to hear about your rough night!!! Taking care of a baby while sick is soooooooo hard, especially when they don't let you sleep! Hope it gets better and you feel better soon!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: I am sorry! Seems like sleep, or lack of it, is going around these parts again.
Stick with the sleep training though, when we did it, there were good and bad nights, then it got really good. Now I don't know what she is doing.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Crap! Usually Monday's first pumping session is the best of the week. I get 9-10oz and I just got 7oz. Granted R ate before we left, some not a lot. I hope she doesn't drink all 4 bottles or there is no way I am going to pump enough today.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Ugh, that's frustrating! I hate it when my pumping sessions don't give me as much as I was hoping for! Maybe your next sessions will surprise you and be a decent amount to make up for it. Or hopefully R doesn't chow down on all her bottles!
I just ordered a smaller flange size for the Medela PISA! Hoping that this will work better than the ones I have!! Fingers crossed!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I hope the smaller works. I don't understand why the new pump isn't working as good.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I hope so too! I didn't try to use it this morning, but maybe I'm just not being patient enough with it. Also maybe I need to turn the suction up, but I do think it's sucking up too much of my aerola which is causing more discomfort, so I'm hoping the smaller size makes it better!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I hope she doesn't drink the 4th bottle today.
@Adira: I'd want to smack my husband if he said something like that. That is so cute that he pulled the blanket over his head.
@travellingbee: Sorry you had a rough night.
The rest of the night has been pretty good. The second time he got up to nurse was 4:15 and now at 6:50. I do hope he goes back to sleep for a bit when he is done.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Are you at least able to fall back asleep fairly easily once you're done nursing? I found that it was always soooooo hard to fall back asleep once I was done feeding Xander in the middle of the night, and by the time I did, it felt like he was waking up again to eat! I hope it's not that bad for you!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: Most of the time I fall right back asleep. I'm so happy he is starting to stretch out the time in between. I was actually shocked when I looked at the clock the first time last night.
