@Mrs. Blue: Aww, I am sorry yall got sick. How are you liking the new day care? My heart just hurts thinking about sleep training again.

@Adira: I can't help it! Plus after all the house stuff we have had lately, new water heater yesterday, we have to save every penny we can. The FP Home is $90, I didn't want to spend that much.
I am already planning to get her a wagon at the one in February for her birthday. I think about things like that way too early. It drives my DH crazy.

@Smurfette: Am I bad mom for thinking about just wrapping up a box for Xander to play with...?

  3. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: No cause DH and I were saying this weekend she will probably like the boxes from her gifts the best. We actually might buy her convertible car seat as her Christmas present so she has a big box to play with.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh, that's a good idea! I might do that too! Unless Xander gets too tall and I have to get one beforehand...

Besides the gift front, which I've spent no time thinking about, I'm soooooooooo excited for Christmas! I feel like it's going to be sooooooo different now that we have children! I can't wait to get a tree and put up all the lights and wrap presents! I always love how magical Christmas is, but I feel like it's going to be even more so with a child!

@Adira: I checked and our seat goes to 32" so I think we will keep R in it as long as we can.

I was just telling DH yesterday I can't wait to decorate for the holidays this year since we have a whole house now. He said I want to put the Christmas here. I said I can't wait to see her face when we turn the lights on for the first time.

There is one Santa at a local mall that is the best Santa. I signed up in July to get on the sign up in October. You have to have an appointment cause it fills up so fast.

@Smurfette: Oh nice! Ours only goes to 29" and Xander's tall. Oh well.

Oh wow - you have to sign up to visit your Santa?? Ours just as a line in the mall, haha.

@Adira: Just for this Santa at this one mall. It is a more posh mall in the city. But he looks so real. We will see if I can get a spot. I am sure all the weekend spots are going to go fast.

I can't believed I just ordered a baby gate already

@Adira: the first couple days were fun, but then we were vomiting everywhere and just tried to survive. DH had interviews, and it was just rough trying to get us all through and back home. Meanwhile the boys had super teething fussiness going on, so I wouldn't say it was the trip to base all other travel on!

@Adira: Oh I can't wait for Christmas too! I usually love decorating and picking out gifts but like you said I think it will be so much more fun w/ a child!

@Smurfette: That is crazy about signing up so early for a Santa photo op - I hope R gets to see the posh Santa! What baby gate did you get? We have one already because we have dogs and we used one when they were puppies but I don't really love it. I can't believe it's time to start baby-proofing!

@Mrs. Blue: Um HOW are they standing up already?! WOW! L doesn't get the idea of holding on to something at all.

@dojo: I got this one. We needed a white one. It is for the stairs going down to the basement. I want something more permanent even though it won't be used a lot.

Anyone else having stranger anxiety show up yet? Lukas apparently doesn't like men all of a sudden! Including my dad!

  15. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@travellingbee: They can't get into a standing position by themselves; we have to stand them up. But, once they are standing they can hold on and balance for a few seconds (probably 30 seconds or less before they start falling).

  16. dojo

    persimmon / 1223 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Liam started doing that too! We stand him on the couch facing the back cushion and it looks like he is standing there looking out the window. Then he just starts falling sideways. hehehe

@Smurfette: They start the new daycare a week from today. MIL watched them last week and my mom is here this week. They're enjoying "babysitting" their grandmas!

I'm soooooo excited about Christmas even though I know they won't have a clue! Frankly, I'm almost this excited about Christmas on a normal year, but now I have the added excitement of thinking about our Christmas card and all the magic of babies at Christmas. I think they will love the tree which means all the ornaments will have to be way high up!

@Adira: I'm willing to bet a wrapped up box would prob. be his favorite present!

  18. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@dojo: Yes, they almost always fall sideways, too! I can't believe they're old enough to even briefly do that! Crazy. Especially, since they can stand upright far longer than they can sit on their own. Weird.

@Smurfette: Hah! I already have two baby gates! I just haven't put them up yet.

@Mrs. Blue: Ugh, sounds like a dreadful trip! At least it's over! Is everyone feeling better now?

@travellingbee: Hmm... Xander hasn't been around any men besides Hubs lately. He's definitely fine around women, although when we went to lunch with my mom this weekend, it took me a little bit to warm up to her. But I think he was just sleepy.

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@travellingbee: R cried when my Mom came over on Saturday and was holding her. But then she was fine after Mom walked her into another room so she couldn't see me and then she was fine seeing me. Then a couple times during the shower she got upset when others held her but then another time was fine.

@Smurfette: That is awesome that you already found her Christmas present and for such a good deal.

I'm so excited for Christmas this year, even though I know Isaac won't remember. I think it will just be so much fun celebrating as a family.

@Mrs. Blue: The boys are so adorable! Hope everyone is feeling better, it is no fun being sick, especially when you are away. I can't believe they are standing up already. I have not tried that with Isaac yet.

@Adira: No matter what they are going to like the boxes and paper best, so at least we don't have to stress out over what to get them!

@travellingbee: No stranger anxiety yet. So far he is just a little flirt with everyone.

Whaatt? you ladies are planning for christmas already?? Im with @Adira: on boxes!! it would be fun for our lo and kitty!
@Mrs. Blue: so cute and they are standing up!! I have to try that with J. Hope you all are feeling better.
@travellingbee: Just this past weekend friend visited and lo looked at her and cried a little. Then he was ok after she went away and came back. after a little while.

Yay! R slept 7-330, nursed and then slept till 6. I was was so out of it I slept through my alarm going off for 30 mins. Opps!

@smurfette: awesome!! I missed it, but did you do a specific sleep training program for R? K used to sleep great but congestion + sleep regression = nightmare for us. We're going on vacation next week but was thinking of sleep training when we return.

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@sheskrafty: we did CIO with no checks. We learned fast he checks pissed her off more. Things got SO much better she slept all night for like a week. Then she started waking up once to eat, then it has been twice lately:( So totally regressing again. So I think we are going to have to train her again. Sucks.

  26. sheskrafty

    persimmon / 1165 posts

@smurfette: thanks so much! sorry to hear she's regressing again, but it'll definitely be easier for you to retrain this time around.

@Smurfette: Glad to hear her sleep was better! Although still - what's with the MOTN wakeup??? Just sleep through, baby R!!!

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Seriously!! I am hoping this means the meds are working and hopefully she is starting to feel better. Day care said she spit up a ton yesterday and was fussy. At least her appetite isn't affected.

We moved to 6 ozs bottles yesterday and she went 3 hours between them like she does at home.

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: WOW!!!! What a little piggy, haha! But I'm also curious if she spit up a ton because of the 6oz bottles... what do you think?

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I don't think so cause she spit up all weekend too and she nursed the whole weekend. Ear infections can cause the increase in spit up, so I am hoping it will get better in the next couple days. She only spit up once for me this morning. Yesterday it was like 3 times before we left. But I will ask tomorrow if the spit up is right after a bottle or not. I get more information out of the morning teacher since when I drop off R their is only one other kid there. In the afternoon it seems more of the kids are upset so the teachers don't have as much time to chat.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh, gotcha! Yeah, it could definitely be the ear infection. And if she's happy with 6 oz bottles and can now go 3 hours, that's good. Does that mean she drank 3 bottles instead of 4? If so, that's an improvement (18 oz instead of 20 oz) for you!

And I know what you mean! When I picked up Xander yesterday, it seemed like ALL the babies were overtired and upset or something!!! It's definitely hard to have a conversation with them when they have to deal with fussy babies. Unfortunately, that's my only time to talk to them. Hubs handles drop-offs, and the main woman isn't even there yet anyway - she arrives around 8:30 and Xander gets there at 7:15. Oh well.

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Nope she is still eating 4 bottles. She nursed at 330 and I tried at 630 and she was just playing popping on and off. So she probably had her first bottle at 8 or 830 there. On the plus side, I pumped 11 ozs this morning since she didn't eat really. I am still sending one bottle of formula.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh wow!!! That girl eats a LOT!!! I can't believe she's still waking up in the middle of the night, considering how much she's eating!!! But that's amazing you pumped 11oz this morning! Are you going to be able to send 18 oz of BM now that she's taking bigger bottles?

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I hope so. Today with counting the 330 wake up, she will eat 6 times. That is normal, so maybe that is why she isn't STTN cause one of her feeds is in the middle of the night. She just doesn't want to eat at 6/630, when she wakes up. She is pretty much everyday eating at 8 or 830, no matter when she wakes up.

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: and I don't know what it is all going. She has 3-6 months shorts and skirts that fall right off her!

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ohhh, okay, that makes sense. You need to get her to do her six feeds DURING THE DAY instead of in the middle of the night! I have no idea how to fix that though...

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Does she seem taller? Maybe she's growing UP instead of OUT.

  38. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

So we did a bottle trial run on Saturday and it seems like, during the day, L consistently takes 4 1/2 ounces at a time. Once he finished the whole 5 ounces. So I guess I will send 5 ounce bottles. 2 days until we start work/daycare! Yikes!

L slept from 7pm-645am with only one wake up last night! YAY!!! Oh boy mama needed that sleep BAD. I am starting to get over this cold finally, but this morning I woke up with a knot in my neck and it is all stiff and painful... Figures.

So, guys, Lukas has only gained like 10 ounces in the past month, and grown like a half inch. Is that OK? I thought they are still supposed to be gaining a pound and an inch a month. He's so active that I think he is not gaining as fast since he started rolling/sitting/wiggling constantly.

  39. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Smurfette: That's weird that she doesn't want to eat when she gets up. I wonder what that is about? That is L's biggest feed of the day. He eats like 6-8 ounces at that feeding.

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: well if she would start sleeping till 5, I think we could do it......just gotta work on that. Just not sure how.

She doesn't seem taller to me. Maybe it is going all to her thighs. She definitely has her Mom's thunder thighs.
