@Mrs. High Heels @Travellingbee: Sorry you both are having it rough with sleep!
@Shopaholic @Smurfette: I love avocado too! That's why I was hoping he would like it... maybe as he gets a better handle on this whole food thing...

Finally came back to read some of the old posts - sorry I just vented last night, I was just at the end of my rope. I took a PTO day again because N still had a 101 fever this morning. My work is suffering so bad with two kids. Her cold isn't our only issue, she's been fighting bedtimes like crazy this past week... and recently she's been resisting sleeping in her bed because she says she's scared! One night she woke up screaming and trembling - it really freaked me and DH out. We've been bringing her into our bed to sleep, and I don't know how co-sleepers do it but we are miserable. Her limbs are all over the place and we can't get good sleep. She also makes so much noise in her sleep. I'm hoping this is all a phase and that things go back to normal too. It's taking a toll not having any downtime to ourselves at the end of the day too.
@Shopaholic: Oo look at K flashing that bling! She is seriously plumping up - so cute! Who do people say she looks like?
@Travellingbee: OH NO - sorry you're getting terrible sleep too!! I hope it passes for you soon.
@dojo: I love avocado too! I haven't introduced it to DS yet, but want to soon since it's so creamy and full of good fats.

@shopaholic: Have fun at the beach today!! It's been so hot lately. I stepped outside yesterday for the first time all day around 4 pm to get the mail and couldn't believe how nasty/muggy it was outside. I think end of August/September is our new summer now. I've never taken any of my kids to the beach on my own - you are a brave soul!

@Smurfette: We had a BOB stroller, but DD hated strollers so I ended up selling it. One time, I was running with her and she started screaming halfway through the run so I had to walk back home carrying her in one hand and pushing the stroller one-handed in the other. This was during my maternity leave... and after that experience I was too traumatized to take her out in it again. She was a babywearing baby for sure. With my son, I'm sure I would've gotten a lot more use out of my stroller.
As a working mom, I ended up running either in the early mornings or after she went to bed anyway and didn't really get many opportunities to run with her. It is a GREAT stroller though. Really smooth...

@Mrs. High Heels: Does she like strollers now? I am afraid to spend the money and then she hates to go running with him. I personally don't think that he is going to go run with her that much. I think it is going to be more of his time. Now she doesn't mind the stroller, just a frame one, unless she has been in the car seat for a while.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: Yea, she doesn't mind strollers at all now! I think she would enjoy it if I took her on a run in a BOB now.

OMG ladies! I actually pumped 15 oz today!!!! I haven't been able to pump that much in the last 2+ WEEKS! I've had to pump extra in the evening or use some of what I pumped from the weekend to make up Xander's bottles. I'm soooooooo excited to know that I have enough for tomorrow and won't have to dip into my stash or pump extra tonight!!! YAY!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: That is awesome! Your boobs are rewarding you for sticking with it
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, seriously! I feel like maybe my supply is FINALLY back to normal! Although I guess I'll have to see what happens tomorrow. And it's only a matter of time before I catch whatever cold Xander currently has and then it'll dip down again.
persimmon / 1223 posts
@Adira: YAY! That's awesome! I am jealous - I will for sure have to pump more tonight
@Mrs. High Heels: How old was she when she freaked out in the BOB? We are thinking about getting a BOB but I am worried something like that will happen and Liam will hate it or something. Also I too am a WOHM and I fear I won't jog with him nearly as often as I think I might...
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@dojo: She was about 9-10 months at the time. If I remember correctly, it's not recommended to go jogging with them in the BOB until they're like 8 months, so it was shortly after that age limit passed.

@Mrs. High Heels: Sorry for the rough week you've been having! I don't understand how co-sleeping is more comfortable either. I've done it, but I think I barely sleep when we did! Sad for N about the fever and the dreams! Sometimes when you have a fever, it gives you nightmares. Hope she feels better soon!
It's funny. All the HB'ers think K looks like me (obv, they don't know what DH looks like really). Our friends and family have mostly said she looks like DH. But more and more lately, IRL, we both get that she's starting to look more like me. So... 50/50? Or maybe DH and I look alike. lol!
It was MUCH too hot at the beach today! Lesson 1 learned: apply sunscreen at home. Not so much that I cared about the sand sticking, as it was hard to apply all over a baby who wants to roll around with the sun at high noon! Mama was soaked in sweat by the time she was done! I didn't even bother with sunscreen for myself! I also realized I need the BOB for the beach too! My UBV was sinking with all my crap on the sand. Everyone with BOBs seemed to make it onto the beach just fine! It was too hot for me to nurse on the beach too. So we just stayed a little over an hour. At least I got it over with!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@shopaholic: her beach outfit was so cute! I feel like it suddenly got super hot just this week. It was still pretty mild last week. Do you know about the baby powder trick to get all the sand off easily??
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@shopaholic: when looking at pics of you and DH I think she looks more like DH, but I see you in her too. She is a good blend!

@Mrs. High Heels: Thanks and thanks! Yes, I think I saw that trick on Pinterest! It seriously has gotten humid here suddenly this week. How is N doing tonight?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: I hope N is doing better and that you are getting some sleep.
@Adira: That is an awesome amount of milk. I can't even imagine having to pump that much in a day. How did the second night of food go?
@shopaholic: Sounds like your trip to the beach was successful, even though it was short. Did K like the sand? Isaac loved it when we took him to the beach last weekend.
My son is trying to wear me out I swear. Last night I went to bed shortly after him because I was so tired and read for about half an hour. About 5 minutes after I put my book down he wakes up to nurse (10pm). He woke up every two hours all night until he was ready to get up at 8am. He only didn't nurse once. Crazy baby. At least he napped good today and I was able to get almost an hour nap.

@shopaholic: @ALV91711: N's fever is back up to 103 today. It's day 3 of her fever, so hopefully it breaks soon. Both DH and I WFH on Mondays so we were able to tag team and take care of her. I took the day off today, and he's taking the day off tomorrow... she has never been this sick before. She is so miserable, and wakes up screaming every hour. Her whole body is really hot. It's been a tough week in this house... thankfully, my baby is sleeping through the night. I guess I should be thankful that one of my kids is healthy.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@ALV91711: Glad you got a nap in, but hope you get to see better nights soon!! That is really rough having to get up every 2 hours.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: That is crazy! And the doctor won't do anything about it? Like give her an antibiotic, shot, or suppository? I find that so strange... Poor N!
@ALV91711: I think she was okay with it! The sand was so fine, even after 2 baths, I think I still feel some here and there. I will probably do a dusting with baby powder tomorrow. She didn't like the cold water though. Started fussing after a bit, and I guess it was pretty cold.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Day 2 went as bad as it can get. He started crying when I tried to offer the spoon to him. I think we're going to take a break from solids for now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Awww, sorry to hear how hot it was at the beach!! That sucks! But at least now you've done it and will be better prepared next time!!
@ALV91711: Oh my goodness!!! He was waking up like a newborn!!! That's crazy! Maybe it's a growth spurt?
@Mrs. High Heels: Oh my gosh, poor N!!! That sounds horrible!!! Do you have a fan you can put in her room to try to help keep her cool when she sleeps? Poor girl!! And poor Mama!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I am so sorry you aren't getting more sleep. I don't know how you do it.
@Mrs. High Heels: Poor N, and Mom and Dad. I hope her fever finally breaks.
@Adira: Sorry night 2 didn't go well. I think it is a good idea to wait a little bit but still have him sit in the high chair with yall while you eat. Does he sit in high chairs at day care?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Honestly, I don't know. I actually don't think so. The infant room is separated into infant 1s and infant 2s. It's the same room, but there's a railing going across the room to separate them. The infant 2s has the more mobile babies - the ones that can crawl and walk. That side of the room has the high chair table, so I often see those babies sitting at the table eating puffs and stuff. I don't think they ever put babies from the infant 1 side at that table, so I don't think Xander's ever sat in a high chair at daycare. He's either held, in his crib, in a swing, in the exersaucer, or on the floor.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Maybe ask them if they can have him sit in it. He can play with a toy while they feed another baby. I think that really helped Reagan when we first put her in the chair. She was use to it cause she sits in the table with her friends at day care. It is so cute, when I walk in and there are 4 of them all sitting together playing.

@ALV91711: tired mamas, unite! I watched this yesterday - it might help us?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@aprk: Thanks. I have bookmarked this to watch during nap time.
@Mrs. High Heels: I hope that N is better today. At least one is sleeping through the night.
@Smurfette: Some days I really don't know. But this is the main reason that we don't really ever go anywhere.

@Mrs. High Heels: I don't know what it is like with one kiddo, but I feel ya on two making it difficult to balance work and home. In fact I had a meltdown Sunday night about how I am failing miserably in being a good mama to two little boys, a good employee, and even a remotely decent housecleaner. Sigh. I hope N. is feeling better this morning.
@Adira: Sorry about the solid struggles. I bet after a little break he'll jump into it better. I think E may be like that. Finn on the other hand...I think that kid is going to chomp away on some solids.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I only have ONE and I feel like I'm failing at all those things!!! I can only imagine how difficult it must be with TWO! Hats off to you, Mama!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Guess yesterday was a fluke. Only pumped 14oz today. Womp womp.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I just replied to your other post and I completely relate... I've been having the roughest 2 weeks I've had in awhile. I hope things get better for you soon - I can't imagine adjusting from zero to two in one go. You're doing an amazing job, you really are!!
@aprk: The video is blocked at work, but I shall watch later.
@Adira: My pumping fluctuates too!
@ALV91711: How was your sleep last night? Did it improve?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@aprk: That is what I think we are going to have to do to get him back to only a couple of feedings. I can handle getting up two times, not six.
@Mrs. Blue: You are awesome to do it with two babies. I can't even imagine.
@Mrs. High Heels: He did every 2 hours again last night. And had short naps today. I don't even know how he is awake today, he just looks so tired.

@ALV91711: Awww, sorry about the sleep!!! Do you think it's a growth spurt? Did I already ask that, haha? Hopefully things get better for you soon!!

@ALV91711: oh no sorry hez giving you rough nights. Hang in there
I have been having a crappy week at work my new manager has been so negative and criticizing about everything I am not sure how long I can take it. Its just so depressing almost want to quit except that I need to keep working at least for a little while more to pay some bills off I have a small project at a startup that I can do (for free) and they can hire me based on my work. I have been so busy putting it off but I think this is going to be the push for me to do it,
@Mrs. High Heels: @Mrs. Blue: I can't imagine how you do it with 2 kiddoos I am having a hard time managing just one!!!
@Mrs. High Heels: Hope N's fever is down and she is feeling better soon.
@Adira: sorry about the trouble with solids maybe he is just not ready yet. I like @Smurfette: 's idea of putting him in high chair. I am going to try the same for J to get ready for solids.
@aprk: Thanks for video!!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@ALV91711: agree. We started last night, and it is hard.
@silver1: sure! Good luck with the work stuff

@aprk: I think I'm going to start tonight. I don't see it being easy, but worth it in the end.
@Adira: I don't know if it is a growth spurt. I sure wouldn't mind the sleep part of a growth spurt though. I was thinking maybe teething, but I don't see anything coming through yet.
@silver1: That is crappy about your manager. I hope that things get better.
@Smurfette: Thanks. How is R's sleep going? How about solids?

@ALV91711 @aprk: Hope you can get some good sleep soon!
@silver1: That's too bad about your manager and work! I have been really annoyed at work lately too and feel like I need a change pronto. Maybe the project at the start-up you mentioned will be a good opportunity to find something better!
We had our 6 month check-up today and it went well. He weighs 16 lbs 6 oz (25%) and is 2'2" long (18%). He got three shots but calmed down pretty quick. Tonight he ate really well! We tried mashed banana with rice cereal last night and he ate it a little then tonight we tried the same thing and he ate a quite a bit of it and even opened his mouth wide a few times. So banana was a winner. I bought some other fruit and veggie pouches to try and I'm going to puree some sweet potato tonight to have ready. Last night Liam slept from 7:30 until almost 4:30 - we are getting so close to a full night of sleep for mom!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@aprk: Thanks. I hope this works for both of us. I was able to get him to sleep without nursing. So that is a start.
@dojo: Those are good stats. Sounds like good sleep. It is so much fun seeing what food they like to eat. I;m going to try banana tomorrow night.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@aprk: What is this video for? Before I watch it, multiple wake ups a night? Or just night weaning in general?
@ALV91711: She is sleeping better. Last night she woke up at 1215, nursed and went back to sleep till 515. I nursed her and she wouldn't go back to sleep. Girlfriend better not try that this weekend
She LOVES the cereal!! I put her in the high chair last night and then went to go mix it up and she was kicking and throwing her arms up and down, cause she was so excited. Adorable. Day care said that she was getting mad yesterday cause they weren't giving it to her fast enough.
@silver1: Sorry work is so crappy right now. Some days are just so hard to be a working Mom.
@dojo: Sounds like baby boy is doing great!! That is a good weight. I am so not looking forward to those shots. Glad that he liked the banana. How mashed did you do it? I am jealous of your sleep!! Do you think solids are helping him sleep?
