@ALV91711: @Mrs. Blue: Wow I am impressed your babies are eating green stuff!! Yay they are going to get big and strong like popeye We tried sweet peas and J wanted nothing to do with it. Not tried green beans but I am not holding my breath.

@travellingbee: Awe, poor baby! But, at least now you have some meds and hopefully he can start to feel better and sleep better soon. Pete is just getting over an ear infection too. They are so tricky because I don't think there's any way to know that they have one without a trip to the doc. Hope you are both able to get some rest tonight!

@QueensBee: True. I knew he wasn't feeling well but I had no idea it was his ear!!

@ALV91711: Thanks for your sweet note. I always love seeing the Isaac updates because they are birthday twins. Pete has his second tooth popping up too! How was Isaac's sleep last night?

@smurfette: I meant to mention in my last post that we are also beginning to wean. Six months was my goal too and while I am happy to still nurse in the morning and at night, it feels so liberating to be pump-free during the day! I have such admiration for the moms that can EBF while working for months, but it also feels so good to have my body back! When do you plan to have R completely weaned? Or are you going to play it by ear?

@Mrs.Blue: It must feel so good to have such hearty eaters now! Although I can't imagine doubling up the mess every night!

Despite being sick, Lukas ate 6 ounces of solids for dinner!! What a nut! We also tried baby mum mums tonight and he LOVED them! He weighed 19 lbs at the doctor today. Piggy.

@travellingbee: Wow that is a huge dinner, he must be starting to feel better.

@QueensBee: Ear infections are no fun. Although when Isaac had one this summer he was not nearly as miserable as I would have expected. Sleep was good again last night. Up twice to nurse. He woke up just after 11 as well, fussed a few minutes and went back to sleep. Next week we are going to have to work on getting him to only get up once. That is awesome that you are done pumping! Is Pete a good sleeper?

@travellingbee: I gave R those the other day and she didn't want them. I need to try again. He is a great eater! How did he sleep?

@QueensBee: I want to be done by the end of the month. And yes it is so awesome to not have to pump during the day. It was cutting into work too much. And so nice to not have parts to wash!!

@travellingbee: Poor guy. Is the swing more elevated? Would that help for him to sleep in?

Someone was talking about stranger/separation anxiety recently. Isaac does have it. His grandpa came over yesterday who he hasn't seen in a month. I gave Isaac to him and Isaac just cried and looked for me. After about 5-10 minutes he warmed up and was fine.

@ALV91711: I'm impressed he warmed up!!! Xander was eying my mom suspiciously all through dinner on Monday!!!

Which reminds me! When my parents were over, after Xander's bath, I was holding him, and my dad was talking to Xander and then he took Xander's hand and gave him a handshake. Then my mom did it. Then my dad held out his hand for a handshake and Xander gave him his! It was so cute! He seemed to really like handshakes!

@travellingbee: Six ounces?? That's huge! What a hungry little boy!
@Adira: @ALV91711: The boys have each had an episode like that. I guess it's just the age.

Speaking of hungry little boys, daycare has been giving them their solids in place of a meal this week (I need to explain again that we don't want them to replace a bottle yet). I don't know if it's because of the missed bottle, or if they are just on some crazy hungry phase but both of my little peanuts who frequently eat between 3-6 ounces max per bottle have put away 9-11 ounce bottles every night this week before bed time. They both had ELEVEN ounces the last two nights! I made bottles with 8 ounces of water (makes it 9 oz with formula) and tried to put them to bed. They would not settle down at all until they had another 2 ounces. It's crazy. Who are these kids?!?!

We have our 6-month appt today, even though they are almost 7 months old. I'll update after that.

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Wow!! Yeah I had to tell day care, to feed solids an hour after her 2nd bottle. Let us know how their appointment goes!

  24. QueensBee

@ALV91711: His sleep is hit or miss, but not terrible. Some nights he sleeps from 7pm-6am straight. It's blissful! But other nights are more interrupted. Last night he woke up at 2am and it took over and hour to get him back to sleep. I think his emerging tooth may have been bothering him. My husband and I rotate who is "on call" each night and that person is in charge of all wake ups. It works out well because I am guaranteed a full night of sleep every other night. His naps are totally random too! Some days are great and other days he doesn't sleep at all.

@Mrs. Blue: Oh bummer that daycare has been replacing a bottle with solids! But it sounds like the boys are making up for it in the evening, haha! Hopefully once you get that straightened out with daycare, they'll be eating like normal. Good luck at the appointment today! Are they getting their 6 month shots too?

  26. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Holy moly! I'm not sure I could drink eleven ounces of milk in one sitting! Good luck at today's appointment. Can't wait to hear the new stats of those growing chunksters!

@ALV91711: Awe, glad he warmed up to grandpa eventually! Pete has some anxiety around strangers when they come up to greet him in his stroller. He gives the most suspicious look. Eventually, his lip starts to quiver and he begins to cry.

@Adira: Yeah, the appt is for everything. Our ped had to reschedule the 4-month check to a few weeks later, so now they all have to be later...which I kind of love because it gives the boys a few extra weeks to grow and make their adjusted age closer to the babies they get compared to! Just gaming the system @Smurfette: That's what I told them, but I think they want to do it that way because they both eat solids SO well and aren't great at eating bottles during the day. @QueensBee: I can't even think about drinking that much milk without gagging, but then again, I don't like milk!

@Mrs. Blue: What time is your appointment? (i.e. when can we expect an update on the boys?)

@Mrs. Blue: Holy Moly! That is A LOT of milk. Looking forward to your update.

Positive update here: L seems to be feeling a bit better since getting on the antibiotics. Last night he woke at 1145. That's it. Hallelujah! Mama finally got some sleep! 8 hours, baby! (Happy dance!)

@Adira: 10:30 central time, but our ped is notorious for running late. He spends a lot of time with you when he finally gets in the room, though. I should be able to update early afternoon.

@travellingbee: Yay!!! Glad you finally got some sleep and that baby's feeling better!!

@Mrs. Blue: That is a lot of milk at once. Can't wait for their update.

@QueensBee: That is awesome that you trade nights. I can't remember the last time I had a full night sleep.

@travellingbee: Glad he is feeling better and that you got some sleep.

I can't wait for this second tooth to come through. Although he hasn't been too miserable, just so much drool and chewing everything in site, except for the cold teething rings.

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: R doesn't like the teething rings either. Hang in there!! How long has it been since you saw the white spot?

How is everyone's LO doing with a sippy/straw cup? R just doesn't seem to get it.

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I responded to your other post, but Xander seems to get (now) how to use the Zoli cup. Often he'll suck the water up and then let it just fall out of his mouth, but I've seen him actually drink it too! So we're definitely making progress in that area!

@travellingbee: That is great that you got that much sleep! Hooray!

    @Mrs. Blue: 11oz!!! Wowza!

Liam has been such a good eater lately! He finally figured out that food tastes good! The other night we gave him a broccoli apple pouch and he gobbled it up! Then he did the same last night! He loves it! We tried some little puffs to practice his pincer grasp - he loves grabbing them and bringing them to his mouth but then makes a yuck face.

I am having some serious issues keeping up with his milk demands for daycare! This week I have all but totally depleted my measly freezer stash. I only have about 27oz frozen left!!! I have only been able to pump about half as much as usual I ordered some more milk plus to try as well as started taking Fenugreek, eating oatmeal daily, drinking the nursing tea, power pumping at night, and made lactation cookies. I hope to see an increase otherwise we might be heading towards the end (Honestly I wouldn't mind not having to pump all the time anymore since I totally hate it!)

@Adira: Awww!!! We just *finally* had our first tooth actually cut through (it's been on the verge of cutting though for what seems like forever!)

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: It's funny watching him try to drink from it though. Once the straw is in his mouth, he ALWAYS makes this mouthing motion like it's a bottle before he figures out that he has to close his lips around it and suck!

@dojo: Yay for eating!!! I'm impressed you've been practicing the pincer grasp... I wonder if we should do that! I FINALLY got Xander to eat some sweet potato by giving him a spoonful that was half sweet potato and half cereal - but whenever I gave him JUST sweet potato, he'd spit it out, haha. Silly baby.

Aww, I'm sorry you've been having issues with your supply! That sucks! I don't really have any advice. Whenever I'm low for the day, I just always pump pump pump in the evening to make up what I'm missing, but I'm never missing THAT much, usually just 1-2 oz, sometimes 3 oz, so I can usually get that in the evening. I don't know what I'd do if I was pumping half of my usual amount. Cry probably. I hope the supplements help you!! What do you do on the weekends? Do you nurse exclusively or give bottles? How often does he nurse on the weekends? Do you feel like he's getting enough? How many meals of solids does he eat - maybe he's taking in less milk because of the solids and so you're producing less?
