@dojo: Glad that he is eating so great. R isn't a fan of puffs. She will pick them up and try and put them in her mouth, but they stick on her hand. Then I put them in her mouth and she spits it out.
Sorry about your supply. I hope all the supplements, tea, and cookies help.
Not going to lie, it is pretty amazing to not have to pump or wash parts anymore.

@Adira: I'm sure he will start liking the food more. I was convinced Liam was never going to eat food when we first started but now he seems to really like it (well he likes broccoli at least )
On the weekends I nurse on demand and I try to nurse as much as possible. I did go out with friends last Friday and was away for a little while on Sunday so he did have a couple bottles but that isn't something that out of the ordinary for us! He has started eating more solids and sleeping through the night more often so I was wondering if that could be factoring in as well. Uuuuugggggg I just finished pumping this morning and only got 4 oz. and barely 4 oz. I used to get at least 8 - sometimes 10!!!
@Smurfette: Liam really doesn't love them either. I figure I'll just give them to him to practice picking them up. haha they get stuck on his hands as well! I know I would probably really like not having to pump anymore... So I'm a little conflicted about how I feel about my dwindling supply.

@dojo: If he's sleeping through the night and you're missing some nursing sessions you used to have, it definitely could be affecting your supply. If your supply has just been down for a week (or less), it could just be a fluke or maybe from being sick or something. If he used to be nursing x times at night and now isn't, perhaps adding in a pumping session would get your supply back up?
ETA: Do you pump+nurse during the week the same amount of times that he eats? You may need to add in a session if not (or even add in a session just to keep your supply up).

@dojo: I'd love to get 4oz! I barely can get 1-2 oz these days! But I'm hoping it's just because I've been sick. I've been trying to increase my supply nursing more frequently and trying to pump 1x a day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: But you nurse full-time, don't you? I think it's normal to only be able to get very little out when pumping if you're nursing on demand. I think @dojo is at work and pumping to give BM to L at daycare. Although I may have misunderstood what you were saying.

Okay, here's the official update.
F - Weight: 15 lbs. 10 oz., Height: 26 inches
E - Weight: 17 lbs. 5 oz., Height: 26 1/4 inches
Ped was happy with how they are doing. He gave us an rx from some wicked diaper rash we've been fighting; he thought it had maybe turned into a yeast infection (totally didn't know boys could get that, but I guess with diapers, it makes sense). He's taking both of them off their reflux meds to see how they do. I'm really nervous because we've been on a roll with that once we got their meds figure out, and I really don't want them to be so miserable again. He said we should be able to tell within the first few days off the meds, and if it's flaring up, just to call and he'll do a new rx for them.
He said two meals a day of solids right now is great and wants them to keep eating 20-25 oz. of milk. He thought by 8 or 9 months they could go up to 3 meals of solids. To my surprise, he recommended having them eat their solids and then giving them a bottle right after that. We might try it. Also, he said, they personally had never given their kids the pureed meat stuff because it's just kind of gross and they started them on finger food protein around 8 or 9 months. I'm going to give them some of the meat-veggie mixes soon, though.

@Adira: Yes. You're right. But I used to get like 3 oz. average. And I used to only have to nurse her on one side, but now I have to do both because she seems to get frustrated and punches me after 3-4 min. and willing to take the 2nd side. I hope it's just because I've been sick.

@Mrs. Blue: Aww! Adorable!!! I can't tell so much of a weight difference between the two of them in the pics though!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Blue: OMG, your boys are soooooooo cute!!!!! It makes me wish I had TWO Xanders, haha! Although I wouldn't want double the work so... nevermind!
OMG - your boys are going to be on 3 solid meals soon???? Xander's only on ONE and we're not even consistent about doing it every day!!!! I'm kind of surprised your pediatrician wants you to do solids before bottles though - I thought before one they should continue getting most of their nutrients from formula or BM?
@shopaholic: Ahh, I see! Definitely being sick can affect your supply! Every time I'm sick, my supply drops!! I just pump pump pump to try to get it back up and it usually rebounds about a week after I'm over being sick! Hopefully yours goes back up for you soon!

@Mrs. Blue: Okay, I'm going to totally make a guess at who is who! I'm going to say the left baby is F and the right baby is E?
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Adira: You got it! I was surprised by that, too, but I guess I don't mind doing that as long as they are still getting enough total ounces. I'm not going to push the three meal thing. If it seems like they want and need more, fine; if not, that's okay, too.

@Mrs. Blue: Dying over the cuteness!! E has passed R on weight. Probably F too! I am going to try and get her to sit on our bathroom scale this weekend and see where she is at. Let me know how they do off the medicine. Are they still spitting a lot?
R is like a foundation. I think it is cause she is on her tummy and crawling so much.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Smurfette: They have been spitting up a little more lately, but still nothing like the early days. I think it's because they are so active (always rolling on their tummies, moving around, etc.) and maybe because of the changes in diet, i.e. adding all the solid foods. The ped had high hopes that because they are doing so well and took to solids without any problems that they might be ready to wean off of it.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: We took R off the beginning of August cause she wasn't spitting up at all. Then a week later it started back full force. But then I thought maybe it was just from teething or the ear infection. But we started her back maybe 3 weeks ago but it hasn't gotten any better. She doesn't seem in pain or bothered by it, so I think it is the belly pressure and not reflux. Doesn't matter if BM, formula, or solids, some days are better then others. Just doing a lot of laundry.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Smurfette: Ughhh, the laundry is awful with a spitty baby. I'm really crossing my fingers that this won't make it worse.

@Mrs. Blue: And now I have carrots/sweet potatoes/squash orange spit up and it stains

@Adira: For most new foods I have to give it to Isaac with cereal on the spoon for him to eat it. Once he gets going he will usually eat it on its own.
@dojo: I hope all the supplements help to increase your supply.
@Smurfette: I don't remember when I noticed it, but I finally got a look and feel in his mouth tonight and I can feel the second one coming through.
The sippy cup is going all right. The water still mostly runs out of his mouth. Tonight he wanted none of my help holding it. He can get it into his mouth, but didn't tip it up, so cute.
@Mrs. Blue: Sounds like they are growing good. I love that photo. The cuteness is almost too much!
@shopaholic: I hope that once your better you can pump more again. When I get a chance to squeeze in a pumping session I get about 2-3oz.

@Mrs. Blue: Gosh they look so adorable!!
@ALV91711: Do you give water to drink after solids meal? My nanny was suggesting it as J is gobbling up food to prevent any constipation and I was wondering about it. So far he only has bm or formula to drink after his meals.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@silver1: I give him water with his meals. I give him a few sips, but I don't know if he actually swallows any.

And for the first time Isaac STTN!!!!!
He went to bed early at 7. He woke up at 10 and cried for a bit and went back to sleep. He just woke up at 5:40. I woke up a few times and couldn't believe each time he was still sleeping. But boy do my boobs hurt!

@ALV91711: yay! Certainly nicer than what L did-- up at 12,2,4,6... Sigh.

@travellingbee: That is a rough night. That is where we were at about a week ago.
So Isaac nursed, then I pumped since I was still feeling full. I got 4oz!

@ALV91711: yay!!! So happy for you! Hopefully he keeps it up and your boobs let you sleep!!

@travellingbee: Sorry about rough night. He had a cold if I remember? hope he is feeling better and you can get some rest!!

@silver1: an ear infection- and I have a cold... Daycare is killing us with these germs!!

OMG, carrots were a HUGE hit!!!!! I mixed it with cereal for the first two spoonfuls, but then I just gave it to him straight up and he ate it!!! Woohoo!! Progress is happening!
@ALV91711: WOOHOO sleeping through the night!!!! So happy for you both!!!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: That is awesome that he liked carrots. Just watch, another week or two and you won't be able to feed him enough food.
bananas / 9973 posts
@ALV91711: Yay! Way to go Isaac!
@Adira: That's awesome! I just fed K some carrots again too. I think she gets 1/4 of what I feed her actually down.
@Smurfette: The sippy & Zoli cups are still a fail over here. She likes the Zoli enough to chew on it and bang it around. Honestly, I hate the throwing and having to pick it up constantly. I have started giving her drops of water through a regular straw and she seems to like it! I just have to wrestle with her to get the straw back every time, and scared she's going to poke or choke on the straw if I don't. She's strong!
I'm on the 2nd day of getting K to nap in her crib in a row! I'm house-bound, but seeing as I'm not feeling all that great, figure it's a good weekend to really try and establish a nap routine/schedule. K's on her 2nd crib nap of the day! AMAZE!

@shopaholic: Glad that the nap training is going good!

@Smurfette: I must have jinxed myself. She woke up like clockwork at 25 min. But thanks.

@ALV91711: Way to go, Isaac! At least now you know he can do it. (As I type this, I can hear Pete starting to squirm on the monitor...nooo!!!)
@Mrs. Blue: Wow, they look so much like you! And totally adorable, of course! I can't stop looking at that photo. Double the cuteness! They've definitely caught up with the other March babies... Pete is about 16 1/2 lbs. You must be so proud!!
@shopaholic: So glad you are making progress with the nap training! They say naps are so much harder to get consistent than night sleep. Go K! Pete's nap schedule is still all over the place, although he does get a 1.5-3 hours each day. There's just no rhyme or reason to it at all so I never know what to expect!
@Adira: Three cheers for carrots!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@shopaholic: what are you doing to get her to nap in her crib? Isaac hates to go in his crib in the day. Maybe you have a tip or trick I could try? I think we are just going to have to stay home a few days and work on it.
Almost time for bed. I really hope last night wasn't a fluke!

@ALV91711: Good luck tonight hope he sleeps like a baby!!
@travellingbee: Oh that sucks hopefully this is just a temp phase as his immunity is building up and passes soon.
So J had spinach and potatoes for dinner tonight. He was making weird faces but did eat the food. I tasted it and it was pretty bland compared to the fruits/sweet veggie purees but hopefully he is getting used to veggies.

@Adira: Xander's doing such a good job! It just took finding the right food! Before you know it, he'll be eating you out of house and home!
@QueensBee: Thanks! Everyone IRL says they look just like their dad, so I'm glad someone can see that I am in fact their mother! I'm so glad they're catching up! Finn was in the 9th percentile this time, and he's never been above the 1st percentile before. It's so nice to see that all our hard work to get him to eat enough has paid off!
BOTH boys slept from 7-5 last night. It was glorious. I know it might have been because of the shots yesterday, but I don't even care because it felt sooooo great.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: True!
We have had 3 naps in the crib today! 1hr 15 min, 25 min, and 25 min. It's just amazing! Though, I have been home all day. Maybe that's why? lol.
@ALV91711: I have been trying on/off with the crib or the past 2+ months. I think I've realized in the past week or two that she is just ready. She has been showing more sleep cues for naps. At first, I could just catch the sleep cues and she was having nothing to do with her room, so I would nurse her to sleep in my room. Last weekend, I could tell she was sleepy and in a good mood so I tried putting her in her crib and she fell asleep on her own, but it took about 1/2 hr. The next day I tried to replicate it, but it ended with crying that escalated. This weekend, I've been holding her real tight, like swaddling almost? and standing rocking her to sleep. But I can't look at her.

@Mrs. Blue: I hope they sleep good for you again! Everyone says how much Isaac looks like his dad , which makes me a bit sad sometimes.
Someone actually told me the other day that if I had a girl maybe she would look like me.
@silver1: that sounds like a good dinner. Do you try all the food you feed him? I find myself giving everything a taste just to see.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@shopaholic: 3 crib naps are awesome! I guess I will just have to start trying again. If it doesn't work right away maybe I'll go back to the swing. I need to get him back out of my arms for naps.
