@Arden: So impressive she is saying so many words!!!
@travellingbee: woo hoo!! Glad that the little guy is feeling better.

Day care said pretty much every nap R is pulling herself up to standing. Fingers crossed she doesn't do it at home anytime soon! Ordered a walker this morning.

I already miss her, going to be a long day

oh and AF is back. And these cramps are killer.

@Adira: my first thought was why couldn't you go visist Adira? She wants you to visit!

  5. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @travellingbee: Yay!!!! That's awesome!!!

@Smurfette: OMG, seriously! I actually WANT AF to show back up! Although I'm not surprised she showed up for you since you're weaning!

And I'm home sick AGAIN. Am I the only one being this affected by daycare colds??

  6. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yeah I am not surprised either. How long are you going to BF? Since I know you want kids close together.
Sorry you aren't feeling good, again. Did you get the flu shot? So far I have only gotten sick once from R. Knock on wood, it doesn't happen to much this winter.

  7. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@shopaholic: How did she do with the shots? I remember she had a bit of a reaction last time. I hope this round is better! I bet their measurements are off. She has about 80 years to go before she should begin shrinking!

@travellingbee: Whoohoo! That's amazing! What a difference from last week. You must be feeling great!

@Smurfette: That traitor! I loved the video! Must have put such a smile on DH's face! She'll be saying mama before you know it. Pete is not even close to making any consonant sounds. He's still all, "aaaaAAAaaaa." That's pretty much it.
Hope the cramps don't get too bad.

  8. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I haven't gotten the flu shot yet - I'm getting it on the 24th! You're lucky you haven't gotten very sick from R. I'm not actually sure this current cold was from Xander, although I'm assuming it is, haha.

I do want kids close together, but I am enjoying BFing Xander, so assuming it continues to go as well as it currently is, I'll probably continue until Xander's 1, and then I'll wean. Hopefully once he's eating more solids, maybe AF will come back for me anyway!

  9. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Arden: Wow, so verbal! Sounds like she's doing great!!

@Adira: You certainly have had a tough string of daycare ailments! I'm around kids all day, so I think my body is used to a lot of the germs that come around, but I still got hit hard a few weeks ago. I hope a day of rest at home will help! Drink tea and relax!!

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: The good thing about being a WOHM is that when I AM sick, I can still just send Xander to daycare for the day and then spend the day resting! Although I feel bad that I've been missing so much work from being sick! I just hope that eventually I'll have an AMAZING immune system!

  11. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Adira: I've had a cold since L started daycare. I can't stay home, however, because I don't have many sick days. I used them all for maternity leave and now I only have 5 for the year. 1 1/2 of which I've already used when L had croup. I know I will need to stay home with him other times so I just don't feel like I can take a day unless I am puking or have a fever. I feel terrible today and can't stop coughing
    Sorry you are sick too!

ETA that "for the year" means the school year since I am a teacher.

  12. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Arden: Wow! Between V and R, I feel like K is still a little baby! But that's okay... she can stay my baby as long as she wants! But super impressive for V!

@travellingbee: Whoo hoo!!! Isn't that the best?

@Smurfette: Boo. Mine came back once so far.

@Adira: Man, that sucks! I'm still battling congestion and coughing. But I can only imagine what daycare and schools expose you to!

@QueensBee: She woke up crying this morning a few hours early - felt REALLY warm. I tried taking her temp with the forehead scanner and armpit - but everything was so inconsistent. Seems to be the most accurate reading I got was between 99.5 and 100.2. I would say a low-grade ever. Not surprising for the flu shot right? But she seemed really uncomfortable and I read you should only give Tylenol if it's over 102? I let her sleep with us in bed and caught up on her sleep and temp seems to be a little bit cooler now.

So K seems to be just a bit off today. Will just suddenly have a whiny cry. I can tell she;s just uncomfortable. Poor baby...

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I never heard you can only give Tylenol only if over 102. I would call the doctor on that one.

  14. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@shopaholic: really? We give Tylenol for pain without any fever!

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@travellingbee: Oh yeah, my friend is a teacher and I've heard about how few days off you all get! What a bummer!!! You'd think they'd prefer sick teachers stay home so that they don't pass it on to everyone! I guess I'm lucky I can stay home when I'm sick. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to teach with a cold!! I hope we both feel better soon!!

@shopaholic: Do you think it's because she's teething? Hopefully she feels better soon!

As far as the fever goes - our pediatrician suggested that if it was a low-grade fever (under 102/103), that it can be better to just let it run its course instead of giving tylenol because the fever helps fight off whatever is bothering them.

@Smurfette: OMG Smurfette, I JUST had the weirdest dream (remember, I'm home sick, so I took a nap)! I dreamed that Hubs and I were babysitting R (I guess you were up North for some reason? I also don't know where Xander was while we were babysitting). She was crawling all over our living room and Hubs and just kept commenting how we were glad Xander wasn't crawling yet and that we really needed to follow R around because he hadn't child-proofed the place at all. Then she pulled up to standing next to the coffee table and then started walking!! I was all "OMG, R just took her first step!! We can't tell Smurfette - she'll be mad she missed it!" but then R just started walking around the whole room, totally stable, and I said "Okay, that couldn't have been her first step - she's walking like a pro!" Then we decided that it was probably time for R to take a nap and we were going to give her a bath before her nap (I have no idea why because even in the dream, I thought that was weird), so we got out towels and started filling the infant tub and I was thinking about how you were talking about going to a real tub but I definitely wasn't going to try that with R while babysitting! So we got the infant tub filled and put R in it and that's when I woke up!

@Adira: LOL!! That is so funny. I guess she was on your mind cause you just saw all those cute pictures of her. Glad that you would be such a good babysitter and not tell me if she did something new!

  18. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, that's what I was thinking, that it must be because I just looked through all those pictures of her! But I'd be a great babysitter.

  19. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@shopaholic: Awe, sounds like she's having another time with this round of shots. Poor thing. I wonder if an ear or tushy thermometer would give more consistent temperature readings? I hope she can sleep it off soon!

@Adira: Haha that dream made me laugh. Can you babysit Pete too?

@travellingbee: I am a teacher too and it can be so hard taking sick days. We don't have a set amount of days, but I always feel SO guilty calling in sick because I know it means that someone else has to cover my classes and lunch duty (we don't have subs). But, it's even worse trying to teach when you're so sick! Can you show content-related movies all day and sip tea from your desk? Sometimes I do that when I feel like total crap...

I am so proud of myself, I cooked a bunch of organic farmer's market veggies for Pete today! My parents brought us a bunch of stuff back from their trip to Vermont and I roasted/steamed and pureed it all tonight before it could begin to go bad. The reason I feel particularly pleased about it is because I am generally a TERRIBLE cook! My husband does ALL the cooking! "Mediocre Meals By Marge" is what we call most of my attempts. However, I've found that I can handle purees. I feel so accomplished when I make them! Maybe I can slowly start to become more successful with grownup food one day soon..

  20. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@QueensBee: Thanks. I wish she would sleep more after shots, but she seems to be all better tonight! Wouldn't even nap - just wants to shriek and play and laugh at my attempts!

You SHOULD be proud of yourself for making all sorts of yummy foods for Pete! It is so time-consuming! Good thing they eat so little, each batch lasts a long time!

    @Adira: LOL to your dream!

So nap "training" was somewhat successful today. 2 naps at home in the crib. Her last nap still hasn't happened. I guess it's not happening. I've spent over an hour trying to get her to nap and now it's just too close to bedtime, I give up.

  21. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Arden: Go Vi!! I can't believe she is saying so many words. And cruising too. She will be running before you know it.

@Adira: I hope your feeling better. I can't believe all the germs Xander is bringing home to you.

@travellingbee: I can't believe you only get 5 days for the whole school year, that is not many at all.

@QueensBee: That is awesome that you made him a bunch of food. I hope that he enjoys eating it. I love looking in my freezer and seeing all the purees that I have made.

@shopaholic: That is awesome that she is taking naps in her crib. I hope that she keeps it up.

Today we finally went to our first baby group. Isaac loved all the kids and kept trying to reach for them. Most of the kids were 1-2. There was one around his age and then a couple younger. It was a rhyme and song singing group. Halfway through they gave the babies all a snack. Isaac sure liked his baby cookie. Then at the end they got to play with some toys, so I sat him down with the kids playing with the mega blocks and he had fun. I had an ok time. I'm going to try and get us to one a week. There are 4 free ones that I know of in our area.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @QueensBee: I'll babysit all the Feb/March babies!!!

Glad to hear you were so successful with making purees!!!

@shopaholic: Yay for naps in the crib!! And I hear you about giving up on the nap - sometimes Xander won't nap and I just have to give up too, but then he ends up sleeping on the boob. What ended up happening with K?

@ALV91711: That's so cool that there are free play groups in your area!! The only ones I know of around here cost money (or you have to be a member of the group, then they are free), so I haven't been to one. But Xander gets plenty of interaction with kids at daycare, so I haven't really looked into finding groups that I can also attend!

OMG ladies, I had a dream that I was pregnant with baby #2 and I was sooooooooooo excited to complete our little family!! And then I woke up! Boooo!

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: That is awesome!! I would like to make some, one day. Maybe one weekend when we actually don't have plans, so I can cook during nap.

@shopaholic: At least you got 2 naps in! Were they long?

@ALV91711: That sounds fun! What kind of cookie was it?

@Adira: Sorry it was just a dream!

So I don't mind AF while having an IUD. I didn't even need to use a tampon and it was gone by the time I got home yesterday. Cramps were worse, but I am ok with that. On the pill my periods were 7 days.

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yay!! Glad to hear it was pretty short and sweet and not too much of a hassle!! I hear you about the pills - I hated that week that I got my period!!

So I think my PP hair loss is over. I seem to be back to just shedding my normal amount. Thankfully!

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I was actually thinking about this the other day! I can't really remember what's normal, but I definitely don't feel like clumps are coming out anymore!!

  28. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Adira: I think your dream is a definite sign that baby #2 is in your future soon! How are you feeling today?

@shopaholic: Two naps in the crib is a big accomplishment! How long were they? Pete never takes more than two crib naps a day. His third nap is usually a cuddle nap after his 4pm nursing session or a snooze in the stroller. If I try to move him to the crib, he wakes up immediately.

@Smurfette: Your IUD AF sounds dreamy! Now that I am supplementing with three bottles of formula, I expect mine to come back soon too. Which walker did you order for R? I can't wait to hear if she likes it!

@ALV91711: That class sounds adorable. What a great way to make loval baby and mom friends! I miss being able to go to classes like that on my maternity leave...

  29. Smurfette

@QueensBee: We went with this one.
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0053X62GK/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item

We should get it tomorrow. She is really pulling up and is obsessed with standing at our coffee table right now. So I think that she is going to love it.

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Ugh, STILL sick, but I'm feeling marginally better, so I did come to work today! I wish I had just stayed home and slept more though.

Speaking of baby #2 though, Hubs and I were talking about Thanksgiving and he asked if I would be interested in hosting it again and I said "Maybe in a couple years" and he said "Why not next year" and I muttered "I might be pregnant..." and then he said "Oh yeah! Or we'll have a newborn is all goes according to plan!" So YAY! Of course, then he rephrased it and said "If all goes according to YOUR plan" but he definitely sounded like he was okay with MY plan!!! YAY! Now if only AF would show back up AND if Hubs and I would start having more sex, haha.

  31. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Hopefully that dream will come true for you soon. Good to hear that your hubby is on board with your plan.

@Smurfette: It was an arrowroot baby cookie. He didn't really eat any, just made a mess with it. He won't hold food and eat it yet, so I had to hold the cookie for him to chew on.

So sad, I talked to my mom yesterday and they aren't going to be able to come for Christmas. The flights are just way too expensive. Now people maybe understand why we don't go home for Christmas.

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: haha, you do have to have sex in order to get pregnant.
@ALV91711: Maybe they will dip in price. I heard Tuesday's are the best days to look for flights.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Awwww!! Sorry your parents won't be able to make it for Christmas! That's a bummer!! But now that they know how expensive flights are, hopefully they'll be more understanding when you guys don't fly there in the future!

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, why is having sex a requirement? Ain't nobody got time for that!

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I have time but no energy. Seriously? When is my body going to get use to waking up early every single day? Not being able to sleep in on the weekends, kills me. And is killing our sex life.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I feel the same way! Every day it's "I have to wake up at 4:30 tomorrow" or "I woke up at 4:30 today" or "I can't REALLY sleep in - I still have to feed Xander at 5:30!" Ugh!! The only days I get any real sleep are when I'm sick, and then I'm too sick to do it!

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Staying up till 10 on the weekends is pushing it for me. I know I will be up between 5-630. DH and I just need to be better about going to bed early for some us time verses sitting on the couch watching TV, playing on our phone/ipad.

L had a decent night last night again. Only one wake up.:) Yay! Yesterday he sort of babbled for the first time. Said ba-ba-ahhhhhh!!!! Twice. But then not again.
@Smurfette: I hear ya on the energy and sex. Also it's still really painful for me. I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago and got put on an estrogen cream. It should start to help soon., I hope.

And.... I just found a clogged duct. maybe because he's been sleeping longer at night?
