@Smurfette: Me too! I think in a couple weeks (or maybe a month, haha), I'll have them add breakfast too!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Haha! No rush. I will suggest the Yo Baby Yogurt, R loves it!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm not sure that that's an option or not at daycare. They provide food, but not sure they do yogurt. Though I could always do it at home on the weekends!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: oh yeah, forgot you are lucky on that front. What kind of food is it? Do you have numerous choices?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, I have no idea! I know that the fruits and veggies are Gerber, so same stuff we feed him at home! I know they also have cereal, but I've declined that so far. And I know when they are older and eating finger foods, they get food delivered every day from Girls, Inc.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I don't know what kind of oatmeal they have. We've done rice cereal at home and Xander seemed to like that just fine. The reason I've held off on him being fed cereal at daycare is because I'm not sure of the logistics. Do you normal mix cereal with formula? I mix it with BM at home, so I'm not sure if I'd need to send more BM to daycare for the cereal. And I'm also worried they would forget to use the BM for his cereal since all the other babies are on formula. I guess that's not a huge deal, just not really sure how it would work.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Good point. We mix oatmeal with water now. But I did do rice cereal with BM when we first did it. But now we never use it. I was actually threw out the rest of it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, I wonder what the daycare does. Maybe they mix with water too. I have no idea!
ETA: And I don't even know what kind of cereal they have! Rice? Oatmeal? Both??

@Smurfette: When did you start yogurt? I was thinking of starting the boys on that soon.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Last week. Yo Baby is pretty much the only full fat yogurt. Last week she banana, and this week I got blueberry and peach and she has liked them all.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Nope! But I think I am going to try egg yolk this weekend. Right, we do yolk and not white?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, they can't have the whites?? I have no idea...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I think I heard that the whites would be the allergy if they have it....
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh yeah, I just checked Kellymom and you're right. You do yolks nowish and whites come later.

@QueensBee: Wow! Amazing sleep!! I really hope he keeps it up for you. I hope that you also slept through the night.
@Adira: That is awesome that he is eating lunch at daycare. Starting breakfast seems so scary. I think about starting but I'm wondering how to fit it into our day.
@Smurfette: Egg yolk sounds like a good idea. Do you think you would mix it with anything to make it creamier, or just how it is?
Isaac bit me so hard today I almost cried. It didn't break the skin, but oh my. I think I scared him when I told him no biting.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I was going to just scramble it plain. Sorry your got bit too! R looked at me like what did I do when I told her no, don't bite. I don't think they know they are doing it.

So much to catch up!
@ALV91711: Sorry mama. J bites and smiles when I say ouch! He thinks its funny.
@Smurfette: I want to try eggs too for LO to get some protein as we don't eat meat. J got his flu shot last week and I thought those contained some egg? I forgot to ask pedi about it.
@Adira: Thatz awesome daycare is providing food and Xander is eating We do oatmeal at home and J loves it. He never took to rice cereal and we still have an almost full box leftover.
J has been saying mama for sometime but lately he is saying it with so much more clarity and I am loving it! He also has been making high pitched squeals like a whale and it can sometimes be a bit much!! I hope he moves on to something more human like

@QueensBee: Great night of sleep! Hope it continues for you!
@ALV91711: Ouch!
K has STTN 11+ hours the last 2 nights. She hasn't done that consecutively in a long while. But, her naps were kind of crap today. 35 min. or less, each. And she only wants to nap at home. Between doing things around her naps AND trying to keep feeding her solids, I feel so locked-down to the house. I guess the nap thing I don't mind as much, but trying to feed her solids is just such a PITA! She seems to be okay with every food I give her the first time. Then, I try again the next day and she blocks everything with her tongue or pushes it back out. We did have success with some shredded cheese at Chipotle today. I've basically started trying to give her all sorts of things while I'm eating if it's not cooked in a sauce, etc. She seemed to really like the cheese, but I saw that it should be limited and okay after 8 months. I'm doing purees AND steamed BLW style finger foods. Literally feeding her some pureed pears from a medicine cup, since she eats so little. It's such a mess, and sitting in the high chair is a sure way to guarantee she's going to have a MAJOR poop situation every time. SMH. And the mess that is the high chair tray and my floors. I'm really looking forward to when this feeding solids business becomes worthwhile.
On that note, I've made 4 different batches of frozen purees.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yikes! Sorry you got bit!! I know exactly how painful that is!! Xander was startled too after he bit me because I yelled "OWWW!!" and then said sternly "No biting." He looked at me surprised and then started laughing!
@silver1: Soooooo jealous J is saying Mama!!! Xander's still just babbling the b's "ba ba blah ba" - I can't wait for him to be able to say Mama!!! I keep saying it to him over and over in hopes he'll repeat me, but he just stares at me like I'm nuts.
@shopaholic: Ugh, I can't even imagine how difficult it is to try to work around naps AND food! It'll be nice when they're a little older and less messy and we can feed them on the go! And also when they don't need to sleep quite as much! Or at least they go down to less naps!
Also - solids poop! I'm NOT a fan!! It stinks so bad! I think Xander's room (where the diaper genie is) has a constant poop smell! Any suggestions for getting rid of that stink??
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Ugh, I made a big mistake this morning!!! Normally, I feed Xander at 5:30 and then pump, but this morning he was still sleeping, so instead of waking him up, I decided I would just pump first! I figured if I pumped what I normally get AFTER feeding him, he'd still get the same amount of milk and it wouldn't be a big deal. Boy was I wrong!!!! He was PISSED that he had to actually WORK at getting the milk out this morning and was crying and slapping my boobs and just miserable!! UGH, it was a DISASTER. I finally got him to eat some, but I don't think he got as much as normal because my boobs didn't really feel empty once he was done (and normally when he feeds and then I pump, they do feel empty). So note to self: never do that again!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@silver1: I can't wait for Mama! So jealous of it.
@shopaholic: That is great sleep!! I am sorry you feel so home bound. It does stink that we have to plan actives around nap time now. She won't nap in the car anymore at all? Do you take the purees with you? On the weekends, we usually go to lunch, and while we wait for our food, we feed her. And yes solid poop sucks.
@Adira: No advice on the poop, but it does smell. At least it is easier to know when they poop now. The smell gives it away. We have another brand for a diaper trash bag, but we also have these little Arm&Hammer air freshners on top of it. I guess it is helping cause I don't think her room smells at all.

Sorry you had a rough morning. I wouldn't have thought pumping first would have been an issue either.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oooh, thanks for the nursery fresheners link. I actually do have an Arm & Hammer diaper trash that has baking soda things that is supposed to help with the smell, but I don't think it's working!!

So I slept for 15 mins with my alarm going off this morning. Of course it was a morning I had to wash my hair. I didn't have time to straighten it, so I feel like a hot mess. I got to wake up R, and she was smiling at me, I put her on the changing pad and start unsnapping her pjs and realize her diaper exploded over night She was not happy with me cleaning her up with wipes. Luckily I got most of it contained so it wasn't all over the floor like last time. I get her dressed and feed her. Her eyes were so watery and she was shivering
She wasn't cold when I picked her up, so I guess the wipes and being naked for while I cleaned her, gave her the chills and she couldn't warm up. It was 40 this morning, so I put her jean jacket on, hat, and two blankets over her walking to the car and then over her once she was buckled it. Her eyes start watering again when we got in her classroom. I guess the cold was a shock to her system.
We are going to try a new schedule today. See if it helps with the spit up. Pedi wants her on this by 9 months anyway.
620 Bottle
820 Breakfast
1020 Bottle
1220 Lunch
220 Bottle
420 Snack (Mums or Puffs)
530 Dinner
630 Bottle
the snack is mostly to hold her over till we get home so I can feed her dinner. Hope it works, just worried when they are going to do naps.....
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
And last night, R would walk with the walker if I was behind her and see could see my hands on her's. Otherwise she takes two steps and sits down. I think she doesn't feel comfortable enough on her own yet. But I bet by Thanksgiving she will be cruising all over the place.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: Scrambled would make sense. For some reason my sleep deprived brain was thinking hard boiled and how that would be kind of dry! Might have to try that this week.
@silver1: That is so awesome he says mama. Isaac is opposite, he is always growling.
@shopaholic: I find that too, between eating and napping it is hard to get out and go anywhere. So time consuming. It will be kind of nice when they nap less and just eat all the same things as us.
@Adira: The poops are so gross smelling!
@Smurfette: She is going to be walking so soon. I hope that schedule works good and she is able to get some naps in there too.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh no!!! Poor R!!! I always worry about the cold! Especially because we live in the northeast! AND my husband doesn't put Xander's jacket on him. I'm going to put a blanket in Hubs' car and hope he'll use it for poor Xander so he doesn't freeze!! Poor R!!!
Good luck with the new schedule!! I hope it goes well!! And I can't believe that R is going to be cruising soon! Xander's JUST gotten rolling down, haha!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So I feel bad... Xander definitely didn't get as much milk this morning as normal. My first morning pump at work, my boobs were FULL and hurting. I pumped 3 extra ounces!!! Which means he probably got 3 ounces less than normal! Poor baby!! But at least he's getting lunch at daycare now, so I don't think he'll go hungry! He just might get that first bottle early.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R never really rolled over then onto her belly. But rolling across the floor, she skipped it. Like she is on a mission or something.
I am sure he didn't get 3 ozs less then normal. He would have still been hungry. He will be fine. You send an extra bottle, anyway right?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yep, I do send an extra bottle, so I think he'll be okay! And I'm not really sure how much he got this morning. Usually he drinks from one side, pops off, then I put him on the other side, and when he pops off, I know he's done. But this morning I put him on one side, he tried to drink for like a minute, then popped off crying. I kept putting him back on, he kept popping off and crying. So I switched sides. Same thing. So I switched again and he finally stayed on for a little bit, but I don't think I heard him swallowing nearly as much as usually. He popped off, more crying, so I switched AGAIN and he finally seemed to drink from that side a decent amount and when he popped off, he was in a good mood. But I'm not sure if he was really done eating or not. He probably could have eaten more because I think he got barely anything from one side. Ugh, oh well. One day won't kill him and maybe he'll just get that extra bottle at daycare.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Well if he is does drink the extra bottle, at least you pumped extra!
I called day care and they said R is doing good with the new schedule. Didn't want her bottle before the 4 hour mark. Still spitting up but less. She is still in the same outfit. She was just napping for the 1st time, but the teacher said they had a fire drill that morning, so it threw off everyone for the day. Most of the babies are all napping now. I just hope she gets all her calories today and sleeps good still!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: So true! Plus tomorrow an off-Friday so I don't need the milk for daycare! So today's the best day for him to drink extra if he needs to!
I wonder how my daycare deals with schedules changes like this. It seems like they just always feed the babies bottles in 3 hour increments, no matter what. I wonder if I could change his schedule if I wanted to. And what they do when the babies are no longer on formula/BM.
Glad to hear R is doing well with the new schedule so far!! Yay!! Now that she's going to be having 4 bottles, did you up how much was in each of them? Or is she expected to be drinking less since she's eating more solids?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Don't they just feed him every 3 hours cause you told them too? I would think they would do whatever you told them too.
I sent the same amount, 6ozs, so we will see how it goes. I sent 3 bottles just in case. So she is getting 24ozs total for the day. I didn't want to increase it cause I think she will just eat what is there. Girlfriend is getting a gut!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: No, they feed him every 3 hours because that's what they do with all the babies! So even if he's not hungry, they'll feed him. Like for example yesterday, he got solids at 2:30 and had I think FIVE ounces. And then they gave him his bottle at 3:00 because that's when he was "due" to have one. The only thing they'll do differently is feed him EARLIER if he seems hungry and can't wait. They won't go longer unless he happens to be sleeping. Like I KNOW he's not hungry at 9:00 because he almost always goes until 10:30 now when he's home with me. But 9:00 is 3 hours after his 6:00 feed, so that's when they feed him.
haha, Xander's the same - he'll just eat whatever you give him! He has no limitations with a bottle and he'll guzzle it down in seconds! And I think 24oz sounds normal for the day, plus solids, so she should be good! I agree that you probably don't need to give her more!

@Adira: eek I didn't know they couldn't have the whites! oops. I gave Liam some scrambled eggs last weekend. He kind of liked picking the bits up and putting them in his mouth then spitting them out. haha
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@dojo: haha, don't worry, I didn't know either! And would probably have given it to him! If L didn't have an allergic reaction, I think you're fine!

@Adira: @Smurfette: @ALV91711: I want her to sleep longer. That will make being home-bound much more worth it!
This morning we had a 1+ hour nap and that was glorious! But we went out to meet with a friend after her nap and she wouldn't really nap again. I struggled with her in the Ergo for about 20 min. just for her to nap 20 min. And she hasn't slept again since.
She has done a couple of awesome things today though!
1) Standing up holding onto the back of the bench & leaning against the dresser! I had to help her into standing position, but she stood both times for over a minute!
2) She is kind of army crawling, pulling herself holding onto the shaggy rug. Isn't that funny? She grips the rug and pulls herself forward to get her toys!
As for solids, yes, I try to remember and bring them out with us. Today I managed to get her like 1/2 teaspoon down. Not even exaggerating.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: K napped better then R today! That is great she stood up and is pulling herself with the rug. Smart lady to figure out how to get somewhere without crawling.
R napped 30 mins all day at day care. She was about to go down for a nap, when they had a fire drill, so then it was hours later before they could get her down. She napped 15 mins on the way home. Then I wanted to pull my hair out, nothing made her happy. She was falling asleep with her bottle. Then when I put her in the crib, 20 mins later she was full on crying. I went in and rocked her for 5 mins and she was out in the first minute. Poor thing is so tired. She has yelled out in her sleep already, I want these teeth in!!
She did good with the new schedule though. Still just as much spit up in the afternoon, but at least the morning was better.
