@Smurfette: Oh man! I hate days like that! Hope R sleeps thorugh the rest of the night.
I think K is even more wound up because DH came home early. So she didn't want to nap.
We were supposed to go out to dinner after her nap, but without it, it would just not be enjoyable. Also DH says he's feeling sick again. So do I just take care of K all by myself as usual? Or let him help out, but risk getting her sick again, and before our trip. Grrr... SO annoyed with him right now.

Yesterday Isaac figured out how to get from sitting onto his stomach. He did it multiple times to reach his toys. Now he just needs to figure out how to get back up!

@shopaholic: I am annoyed with mine DH as well. Yes, great idea to stay another night on your work trip, and now I have to deal with the heat not working when it is going to be freezing tonight.
@ALV91711: Go I!
bananas / 9973 posts
@ALV91711: Yay Isaac! K hasn't figured out how to get from belly to sit back up again yet either.
@Smurfette: No heat again? Or did you have an A/C problem before?
Well, K is really starting to show improvement in crawling! She is on her 3rd day of part army crawl, part real crawling?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: It was no AC in June and now it was heat. Luckily the guy came out this afternoon and got it working.
R had a great day of naps but was really fussy tonight. She just didn't seem like herself at all. She felt a little warm and was still really tired. So I put her to bed early and for the 2nd night in a row just kept crying till I went in there and then fell asleep as soon as I picked her up. It was nice just rocking her, then I put her down, she started crying again, but was asleep within 10 mins. I don't know what is going on....teething?
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: I'm having sort of the same issue on and of the past few weeks. We've always blamed it on tething, but I read somewhere last night that it's a sign that they can't self soothe. And at this age, they understand object permanence and reak out when they realize you're no longer there. But you sleep-trained right? So, that theory shouldn't apply. But I haven't done sleep training to get her to fall asleep by herself. So I have no idea....
She almost always falls back asleep as soon as I pick her up. But if I don't she gets increasingly worse and worse (making it then even harder to put back to sleep).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Yes, we have sleep trained. Earlier in the week she was going to sleep fine. I am wondering if it has to do with no more nursing. Even though she was half asleep when drinking her bottle, just like when she nursed.

Okay ladies, I am about to go to bed after skipping Xander's 9:00 dreamfeed! It's 10:48 now and he's still sleeping. Wish me luck!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So he woke up at 4:59, screaming his head off. I'm assuming because he's hungry...? Although I usually feed him at 5:30, so it's pretty close. Not sure how I'll feel if this is what happens when I skip the dreamfeed.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Xander can go from sitting to his belly, but I'm not sure he does it on purpose!! He's just reaching and then falls over, haha. And he definitely can't get back up yet!
@shopaholic: I saw that video of K army crawling/crawling!!! She's so close to crawling normally! But either way, she's MOBILE!!! Good luck!!! Sorry to hear about your husband being sick - did you end up just taking care of K yourself?
@Smurfette: Aww, poor R!! I wonder what's wrong! My guess would be teething as well, though it's so hard to tell with these babies! Did you try giving her anything to see if that would help? And maybe it's because of the dropped nursing sessions... maybe she misses the snuggles? Although I'm sure you snuggle while giving her a bottle, so not sure if that's the issue!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@shopaholic: That is awesome that she is army crawling/crawling. Scary but exciting! Is your DH feeling better and helping out?
@Adira: That is awesome that he slept almost as long as usual without the dream feed. Are you going to try skipping it again tonight?
@Smurfette: Maybe she just needs some extra cuddles from mommy while she adjusts to not nursing at night?
Isaac woke up at 5:30 this morning and I figured as usual he would go back to sleep after nursing. He nursed for ever. Then took a 20 min break. He nursed off and on for almost two hours. Every time he would stop and I burped him he would freak out and act like he hadn't nursed in hours. Pounding my boobs, screaming. Crazy baby!
He is officially a butt scooter. He will go a good couple feet. He mostly does it to get to the edge of his play area. We have foam tiles for him to play on and he likes to pull them up and chew on them even though he gets in trouble every time.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: I think as long as I can get him to eat as much solids as he did yesterday, I'll try skipping the dreamfeed again.
I wonder if I is going through a growth spurt or something? Or maybe he's teething and wasn't transferring as well nursing, which is why it took so long? Hope he feels better soon if that's the case!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I bet once he adjusts it will be ok!
@ALV91711: growth spurt?
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: I just read on my Wonder Week app, that they can have nightmares around now? Or maybe it's from stopping nursing?
@Adira: What happened when he was screaming and woke up? Did you end up feeding him or let him CIO?
@Adira: @ALV91711: Thanks! DH doesn't want her crawling until we come back from vacation though. But I think she has mentally matured and developed a lot the past couple of days! She was moving even further yesterday night when I would put different objects in front of her.
Guys, she also was grabbing her puffs and (pincer grip!) and putting them in her mouth by herself! She must have eaten about 8 by herself!
Are all the March babies drinking water out of some kind of cup now? I've been offering her the sippy cup and Zoli cup, but she just chews on them. She LOVES when I give her water from my straw though. And yesterday I tried showing her how water comes out from a super-cheap sippy cup (someone brought it from the dollar store to play a drinking game at my sister's shower). It didn't require any sucking, just tilting, so she could get water coming from the cup idea. But it was such a mess - water everywhere on her, the tray, the floor. Such a mess. But she kept going after that cup once she learned water came from it. I feel like as she is eating more solids, especially puffs and BLW-style finger foods, she'll need more water. But I'm over holing my finger over a straw and feeding her that way. Especially because I drop like half the water before it gets to her mouth...
Also... looks like we're entering a Wonder Month!
pear / 1718 posts
@ALV91711: Go Isaac! Toys are the best motivators! My guess re:constant nursing would be a possible growth spurt too. Especially since he learned so many new things this week. Or, not to be alarmist at all, but is there a chance your supply was low for some reason last night? I am starting to wean and when we do nurse, I have no idea how much Pete is getting since my boobs never feel full anymore. I hope that's not the case but that would be my only other guess.
@Smurfette: I don't know how you do the solo parenting so much. My hat is tipped to you! Is DH home today? I hope you get some rest and R is able to sleep. I totally think it could her adjusting to no more boobs. I hope whatever it is passes quickly!
@Adira: That's pretty close to a 5:30am wakeup! I'd consider that a success! I bet he can make it to 5:30am after a few nights adjustment. Hopefully! Of course, I have no idea how daylight savings will affect all these babies next week. Pete already wakes up at 5:30am too, I don't want it to be 4:30am next Sunday!
@shopaholic: Sounds like K is having a big week! I am so bad about giving Pete water. I've left some sippy cups at daycare but I have no idea if they give them to him. You've reminded me that I should ask. When I do give it to him, it spills all over and just makes him wet and cold. I hate it! How is DH feeling today?
Oy, we have such a busy weekend! Every year, we host a murder mystery Halloween dinner party for our college friends. This year, I decided we should host it twice- once for our college friends and once for my coworkers who live in our neighborhood. What was I thinking?! It's a lot of work to host a dinner party for 12 people! So last weekend was round 1 and today we are racing around getting ready for round 2. Of course I love it when everyone is over having fun, but it does make Sunday totally exhausting. Last weekend our guests left at 1:30am and Pete woke up at 3:30am. Oh yeah, and we had a family wedding on Friday night that went until midnight. I cannot wait until we have a weekend with zero plans!
Pete had salmon for the first time this week. No allergic reaction so far so that was good. I've been trying to give him more finger foods BLW style, but he takes such enormous bites and then gags on it that it makes me too nervous. His sleep has been a lot better this week and he's sitting up on his own for longer stretches. And of course, I love him more and more every day.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: @QueensBee: I'm thinking either growth spurt or it could be a dip in supply as I'm due for AF next week. Although that has never seemed to make a difference before, but who knows. I just hope he goes back to normal.
@QueensBee: You must be exhausted! The murder mystery party does sound like a lot of fun.
@shopaholic: He is finally getting the hang of a sippy cup. Before pretty much all the water came out of his mouth, but it seems that he is getting a bit now. I haven't tried a straw cup yet.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Well, I'm going to try again tonight! But I'm nervous because I don't think he ate as much as he did yesterday, so I'm not sure if he'll make it!
@shopaholic: I waited about 10 minutes, but he wasn't settling back down, so I ended up feeding him! And he certainly seemed hungry. AND I think he must've eaten a lot because he ended up going another 6 hours before eating again!!!
It's good that K LIKED water, even though she hasn't really figured out how to drink it without making a mess!! Xander drinks out a Zoli cup and he's pretty good at it, but he still makes quite the mess because he lets half the water just fall out of his mouth. Plus he's always throwing the Zoli cup around!
@QueensBee: Ugh, don't remind me about daylight saving's! I have no idea how that's going to go!! I'm nervous!!!
OMG, so jealous of your murder mystery party!! Where do you get the mysteries? I did a murder mystery a couple years ago and it was so much fun! I'd love to do it again!
I need to do more finger foods I think. I'm trying puffs with Xander now but he doesn't seem to put them in his mouth, or when he does, he just spits it back out. And I'm nervous about doing other things, haha.
What finger foods are everyone doing?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I hope it goes good tonight! I've been trying puffs and he will pick them up, but not put them in his mouth. I put one in his mouth and he started to chew it then just pushed it out of his mouth. I want to try other finger foods but I don't know what to do or what sizes to give him. I feel lost.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yeah, I feel lost thinking about finger foods too!! The only other thing I've done is banana, which is mushy enough that it was fine.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I've done banana, avocado and steamed carrot sticks. But last time I gave him carrot he gagged & vomited, so I haven't given him anything since and that was like 1.5 weeks ago.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: I still haven't tried avocado - I need to do that. Bummer the carrots didn't go over well! I should try that too... I'm worried Xander's going to picky since he's basically just eating purees and doesn't get other textures!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: we've done baked apple slices (I sliced an apple and microwaved it), banana, avocado, puffs, wagon wheels (which he loves) and mum mums. He's getting the hang of it but I'm terrified when he "chokes".
I'm so busy I can't keep up!!
@QueensBee: wow you are amazing! I can barely stay up until 10 and you're hosting dinner parties until 1am!! Wow!
@shopaholic: ugh I always forget to offer him water. He'll drink if I hold it but he doesn't tilt the cup himself. Same with a bottle.
@ALV91711: our does that with the foam mat too!!! Silly babies. L can get from sitting to belly and back to sitting and he "crawls" super fast but he still doesn't pick his belly up. He uses his arms/hands and knees but belly on the ground.
He's been trying to pull up but often needs help but he's doing better balancing once he's up.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Bleh, Xander just woke up screaming bloody murder!! I'm not sure if it was because I skipped the dreamfeed or what. I tried offering him book at one point, but he was crying too hard to even notice I think. I ended up giving him some Tylenol and then his pacifier to suck on and that seemed to calm him down. I rocked him for a bit and just put him back to bed. Now I'm staring at the video monitor, wondering if he'll fall back asleep or not...
bananas / 9973 posts
@QueensBee: My boobs never feel full anymore either. Even when she STTN, and they hurt, they still feel small? And, wow! I'm so impressed with your hostessing of 2 murder mystery dinner parties! I've never been to one. Sounds fun! But not having to take care o the baby 2 hrs later everyone leaves.
And I saw your wedding night out pics. Exhausting I bet, but your look absolutely amazing! I gave K a tiny piece of smoked salmon from my crepe last week. She seemed to like it, but then I freaked out about whether or not "smoked" was okay.
Ugh! DH stayed home from his football game today because he was feeling worse. Sent him to Urgent Care to get medicine - turns out he has Strep Throat. We basically need him to stay away from me and the baby because we leave for Hawaii on Wednesday. It seems like anytime DH stays home, it's because he's sick or tired, or some other reason he can't help out more.
At least he offered to go out with us tonight when I needed to get out or go stir-crazy. We had a semi-nice dinner at the Lawry's in the mall.
@ALV91711: I've noticed my supply drops noticeably every time before and during AF.
@Adira: If K would stay asleep 6 hours after a MOTN feeding, I'd give in! Oh, K is also at the stage of throwing everything. I've ordered some cup leashes. They need spoon leashes too. I am not into playing fetch with the LO!
So far for finger foods, I've given carrots, green beans, avocado, apple, banana, cucumber, and celery (to chew on). I hated the avocado and bananas - SO gross and messy. But I think it's slightly better when I put it in those mesh teether things.
@travellingbee: SO cute in his FB legwarmers!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@travellingbee: He is so adorable, love the outfit! I'm wondering if I put Isaac on carpet if he'd be able to move on his belly. We will try today.
@Adira: I hope he went back to sleep and the rest of your night went well.
@shopaholic: I hope he is better before your trip.
Last night was the third night in a row of only one wake up. The only downside is he is up for the day at 5:30. But at least his one wake up wasn't until 3:30 last night and I fell asleep at a decent time, so overall not too bad. And he was asleep just after 6:30 last night, so he did get a good amount of sleep.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: OMG, L is sooooo cute!!! And I love those football leg warmers!
@shopaholic: They make cup leashes??? I need those, haha! Xander always thinks food time is the time to play fetch!
@ALV91711: Glad to hear your night went well with only one wake up! Although bummer he's up for the day at 5:30! That's too early!!!
So besides the 11:00 screamfest, the rest of the night went well! Xander ended up sleeping until 5:40!!! So I think he can go without that 9:00 dreamfeed! I think I'm going to try to keep skipping it and I'll send more milk to daycare to make up for him missing it.
He's also definitely teething! I can see the bumps where his top two teeth are starting to come down. He's been Mr. fussypants today, so I'm guessing that's why! I hope they pop through soon and stop hurting my poor baby!!!

@shopaholic: R just chews on the sippy cup. She doesn't seem to like water when we put some in her mouth. Just let's to dribble out of her mouth.
@travellingbee: That picture was so cute!
@Adira: Cutie!! Sorry he is fussy and teething but so glad you can drop the dreamfed!
R isn't picking up any food she will try with puffs and getting a little better. She eats Mum Mums really good. But we haven't tried any other food. She ignored banana when I tried it. I might try avocado for dinner. Never tried eggs this weekend.
R did great yesterday with her teacher. DH and I had fun at the wedding. I made too fun fun. It was rough getting up at 6 with R. She did great yesterday, hardly any spit up and today has been bad. One her 3rd outfit.
Also her too other teeth still aren't in. I think it will be a week or two. They aren't as white as they were last week, weird.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I actually just bought yogurt to try with Xander! But no other finger foods. I looked for Mums Mums, but my grocery store didn't have them. And Xander can kind of pick up puffs, but doesn't seem interested in actually eating them, haha.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
OMG, this teething is NOT fun. Xander's just screaming and screaming! We gave him Tylenol, changed his diaper, tried to feed him, put him down for a nap, and he just continues to cry! I feel so bad, but I'm out of ideas!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R woke up screaming from her nap. We gave her Advil for the first time. She is drooling a lot. We finally got her cleaned down by giving her a bottle. Going to skip solid dinner since she got an extra 4ozs in a bottle. She seems ok now. Other then mad cause she wants our popcorn.
Can you try a bottle? It might help some cause he can chew on the nipple. Or try a cold washcloth for him to chew on?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I have this teething ring that has water in it and I put it in the fridge so it was cold, but Xander wouldn't really chew on it. I'm nursing him again now and I think he's finally drifting off to sleep. Think I'm going to let him do a boob snooze so he actually gets woke rest! Sorry to hear that R is uncomfortable too!! Poor babies!!

Hi ladies! We survived the murder mystery party and it feels so good to be done! This week's round was a bit tamer. We were in bed by midnight and Pete slept through the night until 6am, so it wasn't nearly as brutal as last weekend.
On that note, I don't want to jinx it but, Pete turned 7 months old last Monday and it's like he finally learned that sleep is a wonderful thing. He's been sleeping really well overnight, and even his naps are great. He's been taking a 1.5 hour nap in the morning at 10am and a 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon at 3pm. Then he sleeps from 6:45pm-6:00am, although sometimes he does have one wakeup. It finally feels like we're getting into a schedule/routine! Today, right before his morning nap, he crawled across the floor into my lap and put his head down on my leg, as if to say, "Put me to bed, mama." Oh, I also started putting his lovey in his crib and he is always snuggling with it. I think it helps him fall back asleep on his own if he wakes up in the middle of the night. I am really hoping that this isn't a fluke and that it lasts a few weeks. Please, please, please....
Also, he is starting to sit up more and more steadily. Tonight I moved him into the "sitting up" part of his baby tub and he loved it. Played with some bubbles and bath toys. Big boy!
He still doesn't talk a whole lot though. I feel like his brain is totally focused on physical milestones and not really concerned with verbal ones yet. Typical boy, I guess. I am trying to encourage him to babble more but he's not too chatty yet. No where near saying mama or dada, it seems.
@Adira: We get our Murder Mystery kits for Amazon.com. This year, ours was called "Murder at Mardi Gras." They have so many fun themes. We like to host around Halloween when everyone is in a costume-wearing mood but they sell ones for throughout the year. You should do it!
Xander looks adorable in his 8 month photo! He does look very long! Perhaps a future runner? I'm sorry to hear he's struggling with his teeth right now. I hope he's able to find some relief once the Tylenol kicks in and that they break through soon!
@travellingbee: Great photo! What a little man! Perfect outfit for a fall football weekend! I cannot believe he can get himself into the sitting position from the floor. Impressed!
Oh, and what are wagon wheels? I've never heard of them!
@ALV91711: How's it going with the nursing? Is Isaac back to his usual relaxed self during his feeds?
@Smurfette: I was thinking of you out at the wedding last night. Your nails looked great! I'm so happy R did well and you guys had a good time. 6am weekend wakeups are rough, especially after a big night.
@shopaholic: I have to start off by saying that I am beyond jealous that you get to go to Hawaii this week! It's just starting to get chilly here in NYC and I am already dreaming of a tropical getaway. K is going to be such a well-traveled baby!
I guess the bright side is that your husband got strep now and not on the actual trip. I really hope it's contained and that you and K don't get it too! Glad you guys enjoyed a nice weekend meal out.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I had to enlist someone to hold his head while I marked his head and then stretched him out to mark his feet! And he was wiggly, so I'm not sure my measurements were accurate!
@QueensBee: OMG, that image of Pete crawling to you and putting his head in your lap is soooooo cute!!! I'm jealous! And yay for sleep!! I think Xander has adopted an A&A blanket as a lovey - he snuggles into it as soon as I put him in his crib, and I wonder if it helps him sleep too!
Xander babbles, but definitely no words yet, so Pete's not the only one! Although he has started going "da da da da" so I think he might be close to saying Dada! But he just laughs at me when I try to get him to say Mama.
@Smurfette: How long was R teething with her top teeth before they broke through? This is currently brutal!
I'm nervous about tonight - Xander didn't eat as much lunch or dinner, so I'm not sure how skipping the dreamfeed is going to go! I hope he still can sleep all night... though I anticipate him waking up at least once because of his teeth!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I want to say a week from when we first saw a white spot and the first tooth broke the gum. Then it was another 4 or 5 days for the next one. Much faster then the bottom two.

@Smurfette: I hope Xander's come through soon! He's clearly in a lot of pain! Poor baby!!
By the way, I tried meat tonight! Chicken & Apples (Gerber 2nd stage food). Xander was not a fan and tried to puke it up, haha. But I think he ate some of it. I'll have to try again tomorrow!

@Adira: 8 months already!! Geez! Glad the rest of last night went well and I hope tonight goes good too. I'm hoping these teeth come in soon for him.
@Smurfette: Glad you had a fun night out. I mentioned a date night to DH and while he agrees we should have one he said it is going to have to wait until after we move! Gah, that is so long away. Oh well.
@QueensBee: Sounds like sleep is going good. I hope he keeps it up for you. I don't know how you stay up so late! I'm ready for bed by 9pm! His nursing has been back to normal, I think it was a one time fluke, well I hope. I'm thinking maybe he is just getting used to only getting up to nurse once in the night.
Isaac isn't saying much either. Must be a boy thing? He makes noises but no ba's, da's or anything like that. And when I tell him to say mama he looks at me like I'm crazy!
