@Adira: Got our cup leashes! I will post an IG pic of it in use for you tomorrow! Poor Xander and his teething.
I think we really have no idea how painful it must be. Hopefully he sleeps well the rest of the night! But he sure looks so cute! And yes, very tall! I tried showing K the video of Xander babbling like 3-4 times. Because K has said Dada for over 2 months, but nothing close to a "ma" or "ba" sound, that requires closing the lips together. She is LOUD though and will just open her mouth and let out long sounds forever once she's on a roll.
@ALV91711: Hope the good sleeping continues for you!
@Smurfette: Oh I hear you! It must be so fun to go out, have fun, and feel like you're old self... until you have to wake up with the baby. ahhhh... I wish babies liked to sleep in as much as their parents do!
@QueensBee: Awww... such a sweet image of him crawling to you and putting his head on you! K does this head flop in my neck/shoulder area when she gets tired. I've been trying to associate her lovey with nap times, and to eventually stop nursing to nap, or the past couple of weeks. When she was younger, she didn't really care either way for the lovey, but I think she's getting it now! She plays with it, clutches it, and holds on in the crib. Only, I've been paranoid a couple times when she buries her face in it and I can't see her on the monitor. I think they are at a better age now to start using the lovey! Here's me wishing too, that it can help soothe and become a sleep cue!
Thanks! I'm excited! I think it's a SoCal thing, but every year around this time, my FB feed is full of people in Hawaii. Probably because flights are pretty good price and it's relatively close to go from here. Like Bahamas I'm sure for you E. Coasters!
So this weekend of K's improvement with eating continues! I've been finding it easier to give her foods from my plate when we go out to eat, puffs, and the same pear puree pouch. I swear, 1 serving could last us days. I gave her a couple of tiny pieces of strawberry today, which she seemed to like, until I remembered reading somewhere that strawberries aren't okay until 1? Then I found conflicting info, so I stopped.
She also had a tiny bit of steamed tofu, rice porridge, and red bean paste from a dessert (baaad grandpa! snuck that to her when I wasn't watching!) She also enjoyed gnawing and sucking on a steamed broccoli. It's still messy, time-consuming, and a lot of work, but now that she's taking more interest and enjoying it, I'm finding this feeding stuff to be less dreadful.
I started to get a scratchy throat and headache tonight though. Headed to bed now and will go to the doc tomorrow if I don't feel well. Praying some sleep keeps anything away.

@shopaholic: Yay for K finally getting into this eating thing!!! It took Xander a long time to really get into it too, so you're not alone! It sounds like K is don't better with fingers foods than Xander is though. He just doesn't seem interested, although I haven't tried with very much stuff yet! And I really hope you don't get sick! Being sick and taking care of a baby SUCKS!!!
So I THINK dreamfeed weaning was a success!!!!! Xander woke up briefly at 8:30 last night crying, but he was able to put himself back to sleep after about 10 minutes! No intervention needed! And then he slept ALL NIGHT! I woke him up at 5:30 to eat and then back to bed! And I didn't have to give him Tylenol either! Woohoo!!!
So since he's off the boob-juice at night, I'm upping his bottles for daycare, so hopefully he'll still be getting almost the same amount of milk as usual. I sent 6.5oz bottles today (up from 5oz), so we'll see how it goes!

@ALV91711: Bummer about having to wait. But it will be worth the wait.
@shopaholic: So glad that the food is getting easier. Why wouldn't strawberries be ok? Hope you are feeling better today. So jealous of Hawaii!
@Adira: Go Xander! That is great news. Glad he slept all night.
R didn't make a peep all night. I was just about to go wake her up at 615, when I heard her, so she slept 11.5 hours. Which was great.
I put her in these cute Gap boots today for the first time. She ripped one off in the car. So who knows how long they will last at school. But I want her to get use to them if she is going to start walking soon.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes, I was so relieved that he slept all night! I was worried he'd be hungry because he didn't eat as much for lunch and dinner as normal. I'm also worried that if he doesn't nap well at daycare and we end up skipping dinner, he'll wake up hungry. Though I put more in his bottles, so hopefully he'll be fine!
Awesome about R!!! So jealous of 11.5 hours straight!!! And I can't believe R is at the point where she's going to need SHOES!! WHAT! These babies are growing up too darn fast!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Maybe he wasn't eating as much during the dream fed as you thought. I was nervous cause we cut a whole bottle, but she is doing fine without it.
What is sad is that the 3-6 month shoes are even a little big on her. I am never going to find shoes that fit her for walking.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I'm not sure how much he was eating! I feel like I actually pump more than I was expecting when I pump at 9:00 now that I don't feed him! But who knows!
haha, I don't think Xander would have that problem - he has big feet! Though I haven't even LOOKED at shoes! Good luck finding shoes that fit her!!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Thanks! I think K is enjoying holding things to chew (teething relief) for herself, and then realizes the food is tasty! She's still not eager for most of the purees. She does love the puffs though!
And YAY for Dreamfeed weaning! Sounds like a success!
@Smurfette: Here's a brief page on strawberries. I think I will wait till we are closer to 1. K had a bit of redness in the diaper area, but not sure it's strawberry or the 5 other different new things she tried (though everything else was pretty bland). She only had a teeny tiny bit, but since I have history of eczema, and asthma, I don't want to risk exposing her to things that can contribute to her getting those as well.
Way to go R for sleeping 11.5 hours!!! Woot woot!
Honestly, BG shoes are adorable, but I've asked everyone (at least the girls' ones, and everyone agrees, they don't stay on. They're just cute for pics. Since R will really NEED shoes soon, I really think you need those "Robeez"- style shoes. I even ound a cute pair of that style boots at Target (but I wanted the 6-12 and they were sold out). I tried the 0-6 on K and they stayed on and seemed warm (for when we go to the mountains).

Robeez, Bobux, MiniStar... these kinds of shoes:
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Well I think part of the problem she got them off was they velcro in the back and I didn't get them tight enough. We will see how they do. I have a pair of pink boots from Carter's for her pictures next week. Will see how those do as well.
I looked at Robeez, I just don't like the animals or designs on them. Cause then they won't match all her outfits. I was hoping to just buy a couple. But I need to go ahead and measure her feet and buy some.
I haven't heard of Bobux or Ministar. Both look like they have a plain black option. I will get DH to help me measure her feet tonight.

@shopaholic: Sounds like she is doing really good with food. I hope you woke up feeling good this morning.
@Adira: Sounds like a good night. I really hope he keeps it up for you.
@Smurfette: We need to get some boots for Isaac since it is getting cold here.
I think we find a daycare. Will just have to talk to DH about it a bit more tonight. We went for a tour this morning and I just really liked it. Very organized, bright, clean. Lots for the babies to do. There is even a separate outdoor play area for the baby room. Also I liked that they do after school care until the end of grade 6. Apparently they have had lots of babies start there and go all the way through.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: That daycare sounds like a great option!!! Are they affordable and in a decent location for you?? And I'm impressed the school care goes to the 6th grade! That's awesome!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: That is great! I love our center has a separate play area for babies and toddlers too. Makes it feel so much safer to me. That is great about after school care till 6th grade!.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: It is about 15 min from where we are moving. Since we are moving into a new subdivision that is about as close as we will get. As for affordable it is $950/month which seems to be about average where we are. Seems like so much money but it is worth it for good care.
@Smurfette: I like that they get to play outside and don't have to worry about being trampled by the toddlers or bigger kids.
Looks like we are going baby shoe shopping today. It is all of a sudden so cold and socks are just not enough for his little feet. This morning it was -7 Celsius when we went out. (about 19 Fahrenheit). Winter is here.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Crap! That is cold! How cold does it get in the dead of winter??
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: $950/month is what ours costs too! Sounds reasonable to me! So glad you were able to find something you liked!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: I understand about the designs and not matching. But ah, I figure this is one thing when practicality trumps looks. If I really want to keep her feet warm, then she'll wear socks + Robeez. I forgot also, have you looked at See Kai Run Smaller? I ordered K a few pairs, hoping they'll fit when she starts walking and standing. The have more neutral ones that can go with more styles.
@ALV91711: Sounds like you've found a great daycare! And boy is it FREEZING where you are!
Ugh - so with the solids, I now have one of those messy, sticky babies with stains on her clothes. I must remember to fold her sleeves up and put on a bib before I let her have even dry snacks. I gave her some carrot rice cakes just to keep her entertained last night and this morning, and those things crumble and look like dried blood on her clothes after it falls everywhere. Looks like we're back to multiple outfit changes before noon!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: I haven't tried the smaller line, yet. I bought some regular black Mary Janes from Mrs Wagon on the classified, 6-9 months, and she could fit both feet in them. They were that wide and then huge in the length. So it is going to be next winter before she fits in those.
Have you tried them on K yet?
Laundry is so much fun!! I have enough with spit up. I don't know what I am going to do once she starts feeding herself and makes a mess.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah. I got her a pair of gold mary janes for the holidays and they are still waaay too big. But I didn't want her to outgrow them too fast. Otherwise, I probably should have ordered a 0-6 months size.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: @Smurfette: When Xander eats, I roll up his sleeves and then undo the top of his shirt (if he's wearing a button up) and then put a bib on him and he still makes a mess. And he likes playing with his food! I'll knock some of the purees off the spoon so that he can "finger paint" in it, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Are they 6-9? In the smaller line?
@Adira: R paints cause she always grabs the container from me. She always has a bib on, so I usually have another over it for when she is eating.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, haha, I should actually do that! I should put a cloth bib on and then his food bib over that and see if that helps! I think my biggest problem is the WATER. It makes everything more liquidy and messy!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: haha - K would love "painting" if I let her. I hate the mess though. I bought her one of those smock bibs, with full sleeves, but it's way too big on her still.
@Smurfette: Yeah, the gold ones came in 0-6 or 6-9. I ordered 6-9, but they're too big still. Our problem is mainly width, so I think you have to put socks on with everything. My cousin's daughter even wears socks or footed pants with her shoes on!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: But are they the regular line or the smaller? Just to give me a perspective.....
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Gahh, I love these (http://www.myrobeez.com/robeez-cozy-ankle-soft-soles-boots-brown/) but WHY are they $36??? I can't justify spending that much on shoes that Xander's only going to wear for like 3 months!

@shopaholic: So exited that K is eating more and more! Strawberries were one of the first foods we gave Peter, well before he was even 6 months. We had just picked fresh ones in Vermont and I thought he might enjoy a taste! My mom was like, "But those are a high allergy food!!!" whoops! it happens!
@ALV91711: Great news that you found a daycare!! NYC daycares are crazy expensive so I consider $950 to be a great deal. And yikes, that is cold! What kind of winter coat do you think you'll get for him? I haven't found one that I think will be comfortable yet warm enough for a NYC/Vermont winter.
Regarding shoes, this is Pete's current lineup:
These are amazing warm for the winter. I wish they made them for adults! They are enormous and come up to his knees (totally look ridiculous) but soooo warm.
http://www.stonzwear.com/STORE/Shop-All/Baby/Booties/Booties-Alien_Blue/Product.aspx?ProductID=118&DeptID=85&&AdID=134
We have a pair of Robeeze which I love for daycare.
http://www.myrobeez.com/robeez-everyday-ethan-mini-shoez/
And then these were a gift from SIL. They are so funny. He looks like a little Eminem in them!

Ha, I think I am in the minority when it comes to messiness. I am obsessed with keeping a clean and organized house but I love making a mess for fun. Maybe it's the elementary science teacher in me? So I hardly ever put a bib on Pete and I let him eat most foods with his hands, even purees. It drives my mom and my husband NUTS! But, we have a high chair thats very easy to wipe down and I let him stick his hands in the sink to wash them off so I kind of like letting him get into it!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: Those shoes are too die for! What size is he in the Robeeze?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Girls, I'm sooooo nervous. Xander ate NO solids today! He refused to eat them at daycare and at home! And he barely nursed tonight! I'm scared for what tonight will bring...
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: We will get some days of -40C and a lot of days around -20C. We had our first bit of snow this weekend. Usually the last snow is in April. It is a long winter.
@shopaholic: I hate the stains on the clothes. He usually gets something on himself from lunch but if it is not too bad and we aren't going anywhere I don't bother changing outfits since a dinner mess is only going to follow.
@Adira: I don't let Isaac play with his food. I'm so mean! Only time I let him play with it is banana or puffs.
@QueensBee: I love his shoes. I haven't even really thought about a winter coat. I'm not too sure we will get one. The only time he will get to be outside is going between the building and car. Since he can't wear one in the car seat I don't want to spend a bunch of money on one. I may go look and see what I can find at the consignment store though.
@Adira: Maybe he was just full from the extra milk in the day? I wouldn't be too worried. Isaac will eat less and sleep better sometimes. I hope tonight goes good.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yeah, I'm not sure! I hope that's the case and he sleeps well!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Those are so cute! Love them!
@QueensBee: Pete's got a great lineup of shoes!
pear / 1718 posts
@Adira: I think/really hope that he'll be okay because he still had a full day of milk! Keep us posted!
@Smurfette: Awe, thanks! He is currently wearing size 0-6 months Robeez and I think he can fit in them for one more month. He's around 17 lbs. but I have no idea how big his feet are. I know R is petite so I'd say buy the smaller ones but they are pricey so I also want you to be able to get a lot of use out of them. I'm stumped!
@ALV91711: That makes sense! It's probably too cold there for a baby to spend long stretches outside. Your new house will look so beautiful with the snow this winter!!!
I was thinking more about why I don't mind the messiness and I realized two things. One is that we don't have a washer/dryer in our house, so I hate washing all the bibs. It gets expensive taking everything to the laundromat, not mention it's heavy lugging everything down the block! I'd rather just wash the outfit that he's wearing for the day, which we take off directly after dinner for bathtime. And second, I'm not that invested in Pete's clothes because he's a boy! He basically wears Carter's or BG onesies and sweatpants each day, so they are easy to clean. If I had a lineup of cute dresses, I'm sure I'd be way more obsessive about keeping them clean too!
Pete napped well at daycare today and he was in such a jolly mood today when he got home. He's only been in bed for an hour but I am already missing his toothy grin!
pear / 1718 posts
Oh, he also has some weird little red bumps on his cheek and right under the waistband of his diaper. They look like mosquito bites of various sizes. So odd. I counted 4 on his cheek and 11 on his waist. I am watching to see if they go away overnight or if more appear in the morning. Hmmm...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I am sure he is going to be fine!!
@QueensBee: We measured her feet tonight on a piece of paper so I will look online tomorrow and see what size they are. I put on a size 2 from Carter's someone gave us and they were a little big but they would probably be ok with socks.
I hope the bumps are gone by tomorrow!
I miss R too! She didn't have a good nap day so went to bed a little early. I went to the gym tonight and all I could think about is how much I miss her. Which is silly cause she was asleep so not like I was missing anything.

So DH was lowering the crib tonight and I was sitting on the floor with L. He had pulled up on me and all of a sudden, he let go. And stood there!!!! For like 3 full seconds! WHA?! So I tried it a few times and each time he would stand there. Sometimes he would start to lose his balance so he would lean forward or wave his arms to try to compensate like you would on balance beam. OMG! I have a standing baby!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: It is exciting isn't it!! R doesn't do it on purpose though. But it cracks me up how she rocks back and for hand then falls. Is he cursing yet?

Gosh everyone is so chatty!! I am exhausted most days its lately been very busy at work.
@travellingbee: He is so adorable and love the leg warmers!!
@Adira: Happy bday Xander !! he is a long one Where do you get those month onesies? Jay sometimes refuses food when he is teething. He either sleeps or doesn't and amount of food hasn't made a difference.
As for teething pain, I usually give him hylands teething tablets and it has helped. This past week J has cried in sleep a few times and I gave him the teething tablets. I would say they have worked better than tylenol!
@QueensBee: Great that Pete had good nap. Hope the bumps are gone soon! Thanks for the links!! I have been researching shoes since its getting colder even though LO is nowhere near walking yet.
@shopaholic: Wow your LO is eating great with all kind of foods!! J is messy too he is on purees still. I don't like messes so am careful to cover his outfit with 2 bibs - cloth on inner and then a polyester one outer for dinner. We have a nanny during the day though so I don't have to worry about washing his clothes.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!! We had gone away for night and left LO with ILs for first time. I was so nervous but he did well. I also decided to stop pumping during the day over the weekend. For the first time in a long while I felt like I was back to my old self and it was great!! I am dealing with a few clogs hopefully they will resolve soon. Also I think AF made an appearance it was just some light spotting for 2 days, not complaining!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@QueensBee: Aww... Isn't it weird how exhausting babies can be, but as soon as they're asleep, you miss them? Some kind of messed up trick! Hopeully the bumps are gone in the morning.
@Smurfette: So we spent a good half hour tonight trying on all sorts of size 2 & 3 shoes we had and surprised some of them wouldn't even fit. I think she had enough and kept curling her feet. I couldn't even fit some of them over her curled toes. Going to try and exchange or return some. Only ones that seemed to fit comfortably besides the Robeez are the soft-soled Vans.
K napped horribly today. 1st nap was good - 1 hr. But we went out with a friend. K fell asleep or 10 min. on the short drive home and wouldn't nap the rest of the afternoon, despite being so tired. I tried 3xs. Finally about an hour and half before bedtime, she fell asleep on the 5 min. drive from UPS office. So I kept driving and driving so she'd nap - 23 min. ugh. Now she's STILL awake. Haven't been able to put her down after nursing. I made DH go try. She also has been horrible at nursing today. It's like pulling teeth to get her to nurse or 2-3 min. IDK what is up.

@QueensBee: @Smurfette: @silver1: @ALV91711: You were all right!!! Xander slept 10 hours 40 minutes last night without making a peep! And he probably would've slept longer, but I had to wake him up to eat before I went to work!!
@QueensBee: I wonder what those bumps are on Pete!! Hopefully just some random skin irritation and they are gone now!
@travellingbee: Holy smokes!!!! He's standing!!!! Gahhhh!!! These babies grow up too fast!!!
@silver1: Thanks for the tip about the teething tablets! I do have some, but the couple times I used them, I couldn't tell if they really worked, and Xander kept trying to spit them out!
@shopaholic: Yikes! Sorry to hear about the rough naps!!! Why won't these babies just SLEEP when they are tired??? Don't they know what's good for them???? I hope she slept alright last night for you.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: I meant cruising not cursing!
@silver1: Isn't it freeing to not pump??!!?? Hope the clogged ducts go away soon. Glad LO did great with the IL's. We are leaving R overnight with my parents on Saturday and I am really nervous she isn't going to sleep good.
@shopaholic: They were too small? Sorry you didn't have good naps. Sounds like she gets so overtired so it is just too hard for her to fall asleep. I just don't get why babies don't realize how awesome it is to nap!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: hahahaha, I thought you meant some kind of baby cursing! Like he stands up, falls over, and babbles in frustration!
