@dojo: I find that strange that they had their Halloween party early too. Isaac isn't crawling either. He scoots a bit on his butt and that is it. He barely ever even rolls, even though he can do it.
@shopaholic: I hope you were able to get packed, are you leaving today? What day this week is your birthday?
@Adira: How much to feed these babies is so hard to figure out. Hopefully he will eat some solids again. I would maybe go back to the 5oz bottles next week if he doesn't just to see if that is why he is not eating, maybe he really didn't need the dream feed anymore but ate anyway.
We had a decent nights sleep last night. Although it took him much longer to get to sleep. He nurses at 6:30 and is usually asleep in bed about 7. Last night he finished nursing and was all wide eyed. I had to rock him until 8 when he was finally drowsy and I put him in his crib and he went to sleep without any fuss. Then slept until 3. Then the crappy part was he wanted to nurse again at 5, but at least he went back to sleep until 7:30. I love when he does his long stretch until 3, I feel much more human.

@ALV91711: That's what I'm thinking too - if he doesn't eat all this week, I'll decrease his bottles next week and see how he does. This weekend will be a good indicator too - if he eats this weekend, I'll know that he at least WILL eat.
Yay for a long stretch of sleep!! Although bummer he was up again at 5:00 to eat, but at least he went back to bed! Xander woke up at 5:30 this morning to eat and was still WIDE AWAKE when I left to go to work at 6:30! I felt bad for him, but oh well...

Just popping in quickly to say that my IG name is Magsies23. I love following the March Mama cuties so you may be getting an IG request from me later tonight!
I hope to catch up on the thread later today once Pete's in bed. Busy day at work!

@travellingbee: My IG name is cmcghee922
@QueensBee: I'm going to request you!
@ALV91711: @Adira: I'm glad to hear that there are other babies that aren't crawling yet!
For those of you who still nurse to sleep: I had a realization the other night... and thought "omg what am I going to do once we wean? I have no tricks up my sleeve besides nursing him to get him to sleep!!!" It's my answer to everything.

@smurfette: This is a little delayed but I meant to applaud you yesterday on getting to the gym a few nights ago! I haven’t been in about 6 weeks- ahhh! It was my goal to get to the gym one night this week and every night I say to myself, “Smurfette made it! You can too!” but then I feel too tired, hungry, and cranky. Ugh, maybe Friday. Anyway, so impressed.
I’m also so happy that R is growing in leaps and bounds. I really hope the spit up lessens before the one year mark but at least you know it isn’t a health issue. I would go crazy if I had to wash 4+ outfits a day from daycare.
@ALV91711: So funny- Pete poops first thing in the morning too! Well, usually within 20 minutes of waking up. He’s like clockwork. Did the prunes help today?
@DOJO: Yes, kind of weird about the daycare party! Pete is crawling and doing really well with physical milestones, but he is nowhere close to saying mama or any words. He barely babbles and almost never makes consonant sounds. I read somewhere once that some babies will put their energy into physical milestones while others are more interested in verbal ones, and that it’s totally normal. I also think 7 months is early for crawling so I don’t think you should be worried at all. And now I should take my own advice since I have a tendency to worry that Pete should be talking more!
@Adira: How did Xander do today with his food? Any solids? Also, I requested to follow you on IG!
I woke up with the biggest bags under my eyes today! My concealer and foundation couldn’t come close to covering them up. I was so embarrassed! The ironic part is that Pete has actually been sleeping well for the past week and a half. I don’t understand how I was able to avoid dark eye bags for 7 months of little sleep and now that he is sleeping, I get them. Anyway, any tips for helping them disappear? Any favorite products? I don’t know what to do about them but I feel as though I aged ten years overnight!
I think the red face bumps are officially mosquito bites. They have started to fade away and last night my husband found two mosquitoes flying around our bedroom. I didn’t know that mosquitoes were alive at the end of November in NYC! But, I’m just so happy/relieved that they aren’t HFM, bed bug bites, or an allergic reaction.
I sautéed zucchini slices in a little butter and garlic for Pete for the first time tonight. He gobbled it up. My little Italian baby loves his garlic.

@QueensBee: Aww, thanks! Tonight I totally should have done a video cause R went to bed early and DH left for a work dinner. Been sitting on the couch. I wish that I knew the answer for the dark circles. I have really bad ones and nothing seems to help
@Adira: How did eating go today?
So today R spit up twice all day, just needed a bib change. So weird. I am going to send her costume and have them change her before the parade. I am going to go at lunch so I can take some pictures.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: @QueensBee: Accepted and requested you two on IG!
@QueensBee: @Smurfette: Again, NO solids!! And he's been going to bed early the last couple days! I have no idea what's going on. Maybe teething. Maybe sick. Maybe too much milk??
@QueensBee: For dark circles under my eyes, I use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer. I think it helps with bags, but maybe not a ton. I'm not sure.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@QueensBee: The lady at Sephora convinced me to try this stuff for my dark circles-Lancome Genefique Yeux. It was expensive. But she guaranteed it to work. If it doesn't I can take it back. I just got it yesterday so I will try it for a bit and report back
Thanks everyone for the IG help and requests etc. I am excited to see all the cutie pics. I obviously don't have many pictures on there since I just signed up!
L has been super fussy. I think we are definitely in a leap. He was like this last time too. Everything starting to click at once. Now he is crawling, pushing up to sitting, pulling up to standing on everything, trying to clap, eating finger foods, and balancing standing. All at once almost. And the fussiness. They thought at school that he might have an ear infection so we brought him today and his ears are clear. She said it's probably teething.
apricot / 338 posts
@QueensBee: Im surprised those buggers are still around even though its gotten chilly. For dark circles, I have found drinking plenty of fluids helps.
@Adira: How soon are you feeding solids after giving milk? If it is within 2 hours J does not eat solids as he is still full.
@travellingbee: OMG your LO is doing so many things!! glad to hear he checked out fine at pedi and its 'just' teething!!
@ALV91711: that is a nice stretch you got in hopefully he sleeps better tonight too.
@shopaholic: J has stranger danger sometimes.. most times he is smiling at people on street and in coffee shops. but sometimes when someone is too close or speaks in a loud voice he starts crying.
@Smurfette: oh I wanted to respond about the gym too when do you get time to do it? Its been months since Ive been to gym.. by the time I put lo to bed around 8:30-9 I am tired and its late anyway. Oh yes it is freeing not to be tied to pump during the day!!
The clogs have gotten better. I am still pumping morning and night and going to slowly wean that and hopefully be done by thanksgiving.
I should get on to IG to see some cutie pics!! I am such a lazy mama though I hardly ever upload LO pics.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@silver1: I usually feed him solids roughly an hour after milk. But the daycare has done it at all times, from 15 minutes after a bottle to 30 minutes before the next one (so 2.5 hours after a bottle), and still no dice!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: OMG, he is doing so much all at one time. Super Baby! We enter our next leap in 6 days, joy!
@silver1: Well I was only able to go to the gym cause DH is home this week. I have been trying to work out at home once R goes to sleep. She is asleep between 630-700, depending on the night. So I change into my clothes as soon as we get home, so it helps me to do a video right after putting her to sleep. The down side is it is 8 and I am cooking myself a super easy dinner and eating later then I would like. But I have to be better about working out and eating better, so unhappy with myself.
So I sent R to day care in just her Halloween Boo shirt, and told the teacher to just change her before the parade. But she changed her before I left. She said that she wanted to show her off to the other parents dropping off their kids. She looked so cute as Wonder Woman! I can't wait to see her as a strawberry tonight.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@dojo: I've had thoughts about that too. Nursing to sleep is just so easy. There are some nights were he won't though and I just rock him until he is almost asleep and put him to bed, so hopefully that will continue to work once he is weaned.
@QueensBee: He finally pooped this morning! Glad the bumps were just mosquito bites.
@travellingbee: Wow, he sure is doing a lot all at once.
@silver1: That is awesome that you are almost done with pumping.
@Smurfette: That is amazing that you have the energy to go to the gym after bedtime. The last time I was at the gym was last December. I'd love to start going again, I just don't know when.

Thanks for all the eye care tips, ladies! They were a bit better today but still not great. I started drinking more water as it is the easiest and cheapest fix. Tomorrow I will see if I can find time to pop into a Sephora for some heavy duty concealer.
Loved seeing all the Halloween cuties today! I can't believe that next year they will be walking around and trick or treating for real!

Has any one started planning the 1st birthday party? I was thinking of doing a sprinkle theme. But now I think that I am going to do a Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Theme. I have found some cute ideas. I have been pinning a lot. My friend designs invitations and such, but is due in March with her 3rd baby. So I want to get her everything to do for me by Jan, so she still has energy.
I was looking at pictures on FB this morning, and got tears, she is growing up so fast. I can't believe she is almost 8 months. And some of the March babies already are!

@Smurfette: I've been thinking about it, but not really planning it. Xander's birthday is a Wednesday, so I've been wondering "Should I have it the weekend before or the weekend after? Saturday or Sunday?" but haven't made any set plans. And because of his robot monthly stickers, I'm thinking of doing this: http://blog.hwtm.com/2012/04/colorful-retro-robot-birthday-dessert-table/

@Adira: That is so cute!!
I guess my planning so far is really to start looking for star things on sale and thinking I need to look for silver ribbon after Christmas on clearance.
R's is on a Tuesday, so I will probably do it the weekend after. I would rather do it on Sunday, so I have Saturday to prep food and decorate but I know it would be easier for DH's family on Saturday. But they are only 6 people, so they aren't a major concern. We are going to have like 70 adults and kids, with just family and close friends. I am just going to pray for good weather cause we can't fit in the house since the basement isn't finished. I have no clue what time to do it, cause I don't want to do it at lunch cause that is a lot of food to buy!
Loving this one:

I have already been stressing about the 1st birthday party. Mainly, the guest list. We have a small house so we can't invite all the people we want. And we don't have the budget to rent a place out and have it end up being a mini-wedding like party. So we are going to have just family and a few of our closest friends. I'm thinking Bee themed on probably on March 22nd. The reality that she's always going to have an indoor party makes me a little bummed (although my bday is in January so it really isn't that bad - just more expensive!).
I'm not ready for her to be 1 yet.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oooh, good idea about getting some nice ribbon after Christmas and stuff! I should look for stuff I can use after Christmas with sales too! I really like the Twinkle Twinkle theme with all the stars and glitter!!! So cute!!!
I think I'm leaning towards a Sunday as well so that I can use Saturday to clean and prep! I think you could probably do it later in the afternoon so people don't expect lunch! Like maybe 3:00? And maybe that will work with R's naps at that age too because she might take a nap early in the afternoon and then be good to go around 3:00! Though you probably won't know this until closer to the date!
@sheskrafty: Yeah, ours will have to be indoors too since we're in the north east and it will be snowy and cold! I'm thinking of just inviting immediate family (probably not even great-grandparents) and a few close friends with kids! Maybe only 20 people or so!
pomelo / 5621 posts
I don't even want to think about them turning 1. We will always be having indoor parties too. I'm probably going to do something the weekend before since he starts daycare that week and I go back to work. My mom is going to fly out and I'd rather her be here before I start work.
There will probably only be half a dozen people as our family all lives too far, so I may not do a theme. But if I do a theme it will probably be Elmo, he loves him a lot.
Why do our babies have to grow up?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I like the robots. Very boyish.
@Smurfette: I love all the glitter. Good idea to buy ribbon after Christmas for cheap.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@sheskrafty: I keep going back and forth on the guest list. Part of me wants to not invite our friends and their kids cause it just adds so many people. But with just family alone we are looking at 40-50. Crowded house. Bee theme would be so cute!
I am not ready for 1 either! Although I was looking at her last night eating her bottle before bed and I want to jump forward to her being 18 just cause I can't wait to see what she looks like. Then go back to being my little baby.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: My Mom keeps telling me that I need to have a meal. And I can't just do desserts and snacks. You are right about naps. I guess we will see where she is at in January along that line and decide.

Seems that Isaac doesn't like mittens. He pulls them off in the car seat almost every time. Today he pulled one off and then pulled his toque down over his eyes. Guess the sun was a little too bright. Silly kid.
I bought him a Christmas outfit when we were shopping today. I wanted to get Christmas pj's but I didn't find any I liked.

I feel like a terribly mommy but I'm not that into planning his first birthday! It falls during my spring break from work, so we may be in NYC or we may be traveling to Florida. I suppose that once we finalize our plans, I'll become excited to plan a party if we will be at home that week. I definitely want to have themed birthdays when he's older but for this year, I'd rather be celebrating as a family of three on the beach lol! I agree that March birthdays are kind of hard because the weather is so unpredictable that time of year!
@smurfette: I LOVE the twinkle twinkle images you pinned! Sounds like you are going to have a big turnout!
@adira: The science teacher in me really loves the robot theme too!
@SHESKRAFTY: I know, it's going by way too fast. Only a few months ago these little babies couldn't lift their heads up. Now, they are crawling and talking! Slowww down, please!
On that note, Pete is officially trying to stand today. The Little troublemaker was standing in his crib trying to grab the camera component of the baby monitor! Also, he constantly is pulling up on me and trying to use the coffee table to provide balance. He's obsessed. I order a Haba walker today so I hope he'll enjoy using it when it arrives next week.
His pincer grip and chewing has progressed a lot this week. We are serving him three meals of solids a day now. Breakfast is baby oatmeal. Lunch is usually some homemade puree with my parents or daycare, because I'm too nervous for them to give him finger foods. Then I give him dinner BLW-style at night. Tonight I noticed that he was able to take smaller bites of his food and therefore gag less. Overall, my heart rate was lower and I felt more relaxed. That's when it occurred to me that he's probably improving at it! I think we are going to try eggs for the first time this weekend.
I have been so tired all day! Tonight will definitely be an early one for me. Ha, I want to check into a hotel by myself for a weekend and stay in a big white fluffy bed for 48 hours straight. In my dreams...

@ALV91711: R has started pulling off her right sock in the car. Not the left just the right. Silly babies!
I got some cute Christma pjs at Target!
@QueensBee: Bday on the beach does sound heavenly! Yay for standing!! I can't get R to pick up good herself. We need to try again, I guess. She had no interest in puffs at day care this week. Still will only feed herself Mum mums. Girlfriend needs to put those teeth to use!
R was better today with spitting up! She was crawling tonight and then pulled herself up to sitting!! She is in love with the music table. We got more laughs tonight then ever.
My parents are coming at 3 tomorrow to tAke her home for the night. We are going out for our anniversary. I am already sad about her leaving and how much I am going to miss her! I almost started crying when putting her to bed about how much I am going to miss her.

@ALV91711: I bought a Christmas outfit too!! I ordered it from Carter's, so haven't received it yet. And I want Christmas jammies too, but haven't seen any I like (or come in 12 months)!
@QueensBee: Oh my gosh, Pete is trying to stand too??? Xander's so not there yet!!! He's perfectly content to just roll around or sit in one spot!
@Smurfette: Oooh!!! Try to have fun tomorrow!!! It's definitely hard being away from the baby, but also liberating!! Try to enjoy it as much as possible!!!

@ALV91711: Awe, can we see the Christmas outfit you chose? Carter's has the cutest stuff! I'll be on the lookout for sweet Christmas PJs for you.
My husband and his dad have this absurd tradition of wearing Christmas "party pants." DH's dad first bought a pair of traditional wool Christmas pants when they were living in London, about 40 years ago. Eventually, his waist outgrew them so he bought a bigger size, and the originals were passed on to my husband. Every year DH and his dad wear their matching pants. So it was a no brainer for us and the ILs have already bought his own matching pair of party pants! (I'm relieved that they bought them for us because they are expensive!) And, I'm kind of excited to see all three generations of men lined up in their Christmas party pants this year!
@Smurfette: Happy Anniversary! I know it will be hard to be away from R but also so liberating to relax, have a cocktail, and SLEEP! I hope you can soak up the morning with her and then enjoy every minute of the mommy/daddy time later. You deserve a break! And yay for less spit up!!!

@QueensBee: OMG, those pants are awesome, haha! That's so fun that you'll have three generations in party pants! What a neat tradition!

@Adira: So glad you bought it. What size did you get? R is wearing 9 month sleeper and so big in the butt on her. Too cute!

@QueensBee: A first birthday on the beach sounds like a lot of fun!
This is the outfit I bought. I'm thinking of using it for his santa visit. I'm going to get him something more dressy for Christmas day. And to use for family photos. I'm going to make DH come with us in the next couple weeks and get family photos to send out for Christmas gifts. He isn't very enthusiastic about it but I'm pretty sure he will do it.
@Smurfette: Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your time out tonight. As hard as it will be you know R will be having fun with her grandparents.
@QueensBee: I love the party pants. That is such a great tradition to have.
@Adira: I love that outfit. It is so easy to spend so much on cute clothes. I want to get the brown cardigan that they have for Isaac. I have to actually go to Carter's one of these days, it is cheaper to buy the stuff in the store than online for some reason.
