BTW, if you didn't see on IG. Watch out ladies.......these babies are smart. I was looking at the shelf for not even a minute and she turned herself around and stood up, all while buckled in. I hate Target carts, you can't tighten them. I need to bring my car seat cover in every time since I can make that really tight.

@Adira: Bath time is now at 5:30 for the last few days, it used to be 6. Now he is usually asleep at 6. So really we can't do bedtime any earlier. I'm hoping that once we are settled into the new place he will get back to his normal self. He has been a bit more cranky and not napping or sleeping at night as good these last couple days.
@Smurfette: Hopefully this week goes fast. Does he have time off for the holidays? I can't believe she stood in the cart!! I love that dress, such a cutie.
We were up at 5:15 today. Not impressed.
We have to go downtown to the lawyers this morning and it is about a 30-45 min drive. I figured it was perfect timing as he'd be ready for a nap by the time we left and could sleep in the car. Well now it is only 7:30 and he is almost ready for a nap.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Yes! He is off Dec 23-Jan 3rd. I have to work half a day on the 23rd and then Jan 2 and 3, but we will get a week together, well with family mixed in there. So looking forward to it.
We woke up at 510 this morning, and she was crying hystercially by 545. So tired still, passed at on the way to day care. Why won't she just sleep till 6?? She would be much happier.

@ALV91711: That sucks about the bath. K still likes it, but I have been having the hardest time keeping her seated. She just wants to pull up and play with the duck-spot cover. She has no fear of falling either.
@Smurfette: Boo to the solo parenting week again. And yikes! R is just too clever! I can see K attempting that soon. but she actually still does not sit up well in the carts. She's always slumped over to one side. Looks hilarious. But LOVE R's outfit!
@Adira: See. And you've been missing AF? lol. Well, hope for your sake, you get KU real fast and can say bye-bye to AF for awhile again!
K woke up before 7:30am this morning! WTF! That's like 2 hours earlier than I prefer! lol. She's already done with her first 29 min. nap of the day. I guess we'll just have more time to do errands today. Took her to Downtown Disney last night and she LOOOVED it! All the people, kids, lights, action! My kid is a city-girl at heart, like her mama!

@shopaholic: haha, I know, seriously! AF is such a pain! But I'm excited for what it MEANS! Hopefully Hubs will be on board with us TTCing, although I'm not sure he is yet...
Ugh, sorry to hear K woke up so early!!! What a pain! And what a crazy short nap!! Oh well. Hope you guys are able to get a lot done today!!

@shopaholic: Thanks! I love that dress. Going to make her wear it again this weekend to a Christmas dance show. Two hours early is no fun. Hopefully she will take a good nap for you this afternoon.
@Adira: I forgot to tell you, R is now on 2 naps. Well on the weekends. Trying to stick with 9 and 1 or 2 like day care does. Since she took 2+ hours in the morning, she did 2 naps this weekend. She might still take the 30 min cat nap on the way home on day care days but all will depend on how well she naps during the day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Over the weekend, Xander did 3 naps one day and 2 naps the other. The 2 nap day was soooooooo much better! His second nap was over TWO HOURS! But the 3 nap day, he slept only 30-50 minutes at a time and got less sleep! So bizarre! How are you liking two naps? Does she tend to sleep longer because of it? How long does she stay up between naps now? Xander's on a 3 hours awake schedule now (unless he seems really tired) and I'm really liking it so far.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I like the 2 naps.....only wish her 2nd nap would be longer. She was tired earlier last night then normal.
Sat woke 5, got her at 6, napped 845-1100, napped 230-300 (car), bed 645 (I think)
Sun woke 5, got her at 6, napped 850-1120 (she did wake at up 920 DH said she fell back asleep after 5 mins), napped 2-245, asleep by 630.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Ugh! I wish I could get K on 2 naps. I can't even get her to nap at a set time everyday since she wants one 2hrs after she wakes up (and it's always a different time).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Well this is recent. I had day care start doing it a couple weeks ago, to see if it would help her nap there. Then this weekend, we tried it. I think that she was really ready earlier, but the pedi suggested to try it anyway, that it might help her start sleeping later again. Not so much.....
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I do find with two naps, Xander usually goes to bed earlier than he used to. Usually he's up from his second nap by 3:30/4:00 and can't make it to 7:00 like he used to!

@dojo: Yay for crawling!! It's totally life changing when they become mobile. A lot more work but I also feel a lot more fun!
We are not planning much for 1st birthday. There is a chance we will be traveling anyway. We will probably just do a small dinner and cake with grandparents and aunts. I love hearing about all the other March Mama themes and ideas though!
@Smurfette: Wow, that girl is fast! I can't believe she sprung out of her her seat in the cart so quickly. Thanks for the PSA, I will definitely need to be more careful when we are shopping with Pete.
I hope the separation anxiety phases passes quickly. It must be so heart wrenching to see her so upset when you leave.
@Adira: Hooray for the return of AF! Fingers crossed that you have your new baby soon!
@ALV91711: @Smurfette: I am a little relieved that I am not the only one with an early riser. Pete has "slept in" until 5:30am for the past few mornings which is SO much better than last week, which was 4:30am everyday. Can't these babies learn to sleep in a little bit! At least until the sun is close to rising...
Here's hoping this is a short phase they grow out of SOON.
Some of you have baby fever. I officially have puppy fever! Bad. We adopted our last dog (who passed away in the spring) two years ago on December 17th. This time of year has me desperate for a new one to bring into our family. I've been looking at some different dogs at the shleter but things are more complicated this time around because of LO. I really need a dog who is super mellow and won't mind a curious and clumsy baby toddling around the floor. I am really hoping that we can find our new furbaby by the new year!

@Smurfette: target carts are the worst!! But at least she looks adorable, I love the outfit!!
@Adira: I love Xander's holiday photo!! He's so cute!! Congrats on AF! Even though I'm not going be be that excited AT ALL when mine returns!!
@QueensBee: good luck on finding a new fur baby! Our dog is such a pain in the butt but he adds so much to the family.
We have our 9 month check up tomorrow(she's actually more like 9.5 months now) I'm excited to get her updated stats!
pear / 1718 posts
@Purpledaisy: Oooh def let us know how the appointment goes! New stats are always fun!
Pete was soooooooo tired when I picked him up from daycare. He didn't sleep that well last night and then he only took two 40 minutes nap at daycare. He fell asleep in the carrier during the five minute walk home and was such a grouch during dinner. I put him to bed right after his bath but he was so overtired, he cried while drinking his bottle and he cried for about 20 minutes before falling asleep. I really hope he sleeps through the night and has a better day tomorrow. Poor guy!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Purpledaisy: Please post the stats! I love reading them for babies.
@QueensBee: Sorry Pete had a bad today. Hopefully he gets good rest tonight.
R took a 25 min nap and then 2 hours at day care!! She was in a great mood when we got home. We didn't get a long time to play, cause of traffic, but she was so happy tonight.
Also I realized that if I put puffs mixed up with regular food, she is better about eating them.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: Oooh, I hope you find a puppy that will be a good fit for your family!!! I can only imagine how much fun Pete would have with him!!!
@Purpledaisy: haha, I was excited for AF for all of 2 hours and now I remember what a hassle she is!!
@Smurfette: Yay for a long afternoon nap!!! That's awesome!!! Xander took a 40 minute nap and a 2 hour nap too and he was so playful!
pear / 1718 posts
@Smurfette: I can't believe she took a 2 hour nap at daycare! I'd be in a great mood if I could take a 2 hour nap too! Maybe all your tricks and strategies to help her sleep there are working!
P.S. I tried your onion and avocado trick today. Awesome!
@Adira: Thanks! Although, haha when I say "puppy," I really mean an old geriatric dog. The last one I chose was blind, diabetic, and had no teeth! I have a soft spot for the old boys so poor Pete is destined to a life of older dogs. I did promise DH I would get a puppy one day when Pete is old enough to really remember the experience but right now I am on the lookout for a dog in its golden years.
Question on the babymaking for you: You said you are NTNP... are you going to try to calculate O and BD this month? Or are you going to not pay attention and just see what happens? I'm so impressed you are really gunning to go again!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: haha, an old mellow dog might be better for Pete at this age anyway! But I definitely think you should get him a puppy when he's older and they can grow up together!!
Hubs isn't completely on board to start TTC yet, so we're just NTNP. So for this cycle, that just means I'm going to temp to get an idea of if I O around the same time as I used to pre-baby, but I don't intend to try timing BD around that time. We'll just do it whenever we do it!

I figured out why we have been having sleep problems recently, Isaac has his 3rd tooth! I didn't even see it coming in and today I got a glimpse in his mouth when he was done nursing and saw it. It is on the bottom, I couldn't get a look to see if #4 is on its way.
@shopaholic: I hope that she napped good for you today.
@Smurfette: @Adira: I'd love to get on a consistent two nap schedule. I'm going to try and work on this after the holidays.
@QueensBee: I hope you find a new furbaby soon. Hopefully Pete sleeps good tonight.
@Purpledaisy: I can't wait to hear her stats. Hope the appointment goes well.
2 more sleeps!! I can't wait to be done, we are all so tired.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: That sounds great you can get her to nap better on the weekends. Our weekend naps are crap! 2 naps, but usually because she's all messed up and fighting naps.
What is the onion and avocado trick?
@QueensBee: DH would much rather we travel for birthdays than plan a party. He's already been warning me not to spend too much money or go crazy over a party K won't remember. But everyone else seems to be expecting a party and telling me so for months! That's so cute about your puppy fever! I hate to say it, but my beloved furbaby is such an annoyance to me these days. She is old, blind, and needs so much attention always bumping around underfoot when I've got my hands full with the baby. She is a bed hog and wants to claim everything of K's. It's really annoying me. And it's not her fault - DH says I'm being mean. But any little thing she does now, like barking or begging, drives me bonkers. lol. So - yeah. I cannot relate on the puppy fever front - yet.
@ALV91711: I hear you on the teething front! I didn't realize K was getting her 3rd tooth until after it had broken through. Then I realized why she had been such a terrible sleeper the previous days. I think a 4th one might be breaking through soon - she's been awful with sleeping today & tonight. These darn teeth!
K has woken up 4 times in the first 1.5 hr after going down. Poor girl. I finally gave in and gave her Motrin and nursed her a bit back to sleep. FX'd she'll sleep well the rest of the night so I can finish the first batch of our Christmas cards!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: @Adira: Well I forgot about her cat nap on the way to day care. Waking up at 5, today 450, she naps 10-15 mins on the drive.
@ALV91711: yay! More teeth!
@shopaholic: if you put a slice of onion with a cut up avocado it doesn't turn brown nearly as fast as it would with nothing or lemon juice on it. I have day care just throw out the onion and give her the avocado.

So I got a letter in the mail for a book exchange. I have to mail a book to one person and then mail out 6 letters. Those people then send out one book to the person on their sheet, and then mail out 6 letters. Would any of y'all be interested in doing it? If so, wall me your address. I need to get the letters out by Friday. It says you should get back 36 books, if everyone mails a book like they are supposed too.

@Adira: Haha, thanks for letting me know the plan! I think it's a good one. Sorry if that was a nosey question!!
@ALV91711: A new tooth! That's awesome. And now that you know the problem, a good night's sleep may be in your future!
@shopaholic: Oh there have been days when I was to toss our current furbaby to the street (I never would of course)! He can be so annoying! But, I feel kind of incomplete without a second dog and all the craziness that one brings.
Yes, it sure likes you have been to some elaborate 1st birthdays in your Southern CA circle! Such details! I can see the pressure to do it up big. But, I agree with your DH... take the $ and go on a trip to resort in Mexico!
How did she sleep after the Motrin? And, your Christmas cards arrived?! How fun! Will you post a pic?
@Smurfette: I feel your pain on the early wake-ups. Pete actually slept in until 6:15am today but that was the first time in months. The book exchange sounds so fun! I'd love to participate except that I don't think we have space in our current house for so many new books. But let me know if you come across a great new read that you recommend!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@shopaholic: I hope she slept well after the Motrin. Teething is no fun at all.
@QueensBee: that is awesome that he slept in! Maybe he could keep it up for you.
DH always tells Isaac that when he is a teenager and wants to sleep in on weekends we will be waking him up bright and early. I told DH he is on his own with that one, I'll be sleeping in!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: Not nosey at all! I have no problem sharing those types of details with people!! And even though I say we're just NTNP and Hubs isn't fully on board with baby #2, I imagine I'll be trying to get him in bed more often around O time, hahaha.
@Smurfette: Just for clarification, when you get a letter, how many books do you send out and how many letters? And are they supposed to be new books or used? Or does it not matter? I LOVE reading, so I'm interested!

@QueensBee: I am so jealous of your sleep. I am getting so frustrated that she can't sleep longer. So hard seeing her so tired but she just can't get herself back to sleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: You just mail one book (new) to #1 person on the list. Then the #2 person, gets listed as #1 on the letters you mail out.
I am excited to do it, R is just starting to get into books.
pear / 1718 posts
@Smurfette: Well, it was just one night so don't be too jealous! I'll let you know if it was a fluke or the start of a trend!
My little man had such a great day today! After daycare, he was super happy and independent all evening. In fact, he was so content playing by himself, that I went into the kitchen and baked a loaf of cranberry bread for his daycare teachers. I also cooked his entire dinner and hand washed all the dishes while he was playing. He was happy as a clam the entire time, didn't need mama at all. That never happens...
Then we had a very pleasant dinner. He is currently loving fish sticks. I bought a pack of Dr. Praeger fish sticks and he loves smearing them with ketchup and then stuffing them into his mouth! I took a video that I will try to post later. He also had some blueberries for the first time as well as an old favorite, carrots.
That was followed by a fun bath time, bottle, and he fell asleep on his own with zero tears. I couldn't believe it. Now we shall see if his good mood continues through the entire night.
I am really excited to give the daycare teachers their gifts tomorrow! I made the loaf of cranberry bread for the whole infant room team, but I am a terrible cook so who knows how it actually tastes. (I hope it's not embarrassingly bad!) Then I put together little gift bags that have Sabon hand creams, Visa gift cards, and fairly long notes thanking each one for the wonderful love and care they give to Pete. I love holiday season!
This Sunday is our first full night without Pete since he was born. I am dropping him off at my parent's house in the suburbs and then DH and I are going out to a Beyonce concert. Haha, DH is a huge Beyonce fan and wears a Destiny's Child tee-shirt from 2001 regularly. I'm so excited to get to go to the concert with him and even better, to sleep soundly without a baby monitor next to my ear!

Just got back from her 9 month check up! She's 15lbs 14oz and 25.5 inches! 12th percentile for weight and 3rd for height! Her doctor wants to see her back in a month to follow up on her growth but she didn't seem overly concerned so I'm not too worried about it.
