K seems better from her stomach bug for the most part. I'm still dealing with nasty diapers, but she seems to be getting back to her short-lived naps. lol. That's my sign she's alright.
She doesn't really want any solids though... and I've been trying to give her more protein and nutritious foods, but she refuses to even open her lips now. Hoping it's just a phase from not feeling well. My friend's family all got the stomach bug and she said none of them have any appetite. So I'm hoping that's all that it is. It's exhausting trying to feed her 3 meals a day.

@QueensBee: that is the cutest picture!
@shopaholic: Poor girl. I'm glad she is almost well though. I'm betting her lack of appetite will go away once she is feeling 100% again!
Quinn has been all over lately. I got a nasty cold over the weekend and it was exhausting trying to keep up with her! Today she clapped for the first time! And she was pushing our cat food bin and walking through the kitchen this evening. So busy. I need to buy her a real walker

Oh.My.God. Kaitlyn has been waking up every 20-30 min. tonight. Wailing, screaming, or crying. She almost instantly falls back asleep when I pick her up. I can only imagine it's teething again? She sounds like she's in so much pain. And I already gave her Motrin. Tomorrow is going to be crazy long. I think people are getting gifts in a bunch of baby shower gift bags...

@boots: Yay for clapping and push/walking! Thanks. K has done this a few times, but DH doesn't want her to start walking until after our Mammoth trip. lol.

@shopaholic: She won't eat at all? Have you tried purées or table food? I noticed that R wants to eat table food not purées. Have you tried cheese or yogurt? Those are fatty foods.
@boots: yay for clapping!! I can't wait for R to do it.
@shopaholic: Poor K and Mama! I hope she got some sleep.
I started a thread a couple weeks ago and seems like once LO starts cruising walking is 2-3 months away. So hopefully we all have a little to go!
We did Christmas with my parents and siblings last night. R got the Zany Zoo, Rocking giraffe, B Toys drum set, this old school FP poppe thing when you walk, a little toy camera, and some clothes. So far everything is a hit. Tonight the whole family is coming over for Christmas Eve. I have no clue where all these toys are going to go.

@QueensBee: What a cute picture. Glad you had a good night out.
@shopaholic: Good to hear she is feeling better. I'm sure she will be back at solids in no time. Did you end up getting any sleep last night? Poor thing and poor mama.
@boots: Yay for clapping!!
@Smurfette: I love the jammies! Sounds like she has got a good variety of toys so far.
So I think Isaac was faking us out with crawling. He went a couple more steps yesterday and that was it. He is constantly getting up but not moving. Although he has figured out how to go from his stomach to his hands & knees and sit up. That is awesome!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Wow! R is lucky! Most of K's toys I know will be bought by us(me). I bought her that same popper thing (so retro!), Zany Zoo, and the Anywhere Chair. I wanted the B drum toys. And now I have to go look up what is a rocking giraffe! R is so well-loved! And looks adorable in her jammies!
@ALV91711: It will happen consistently soon enough! And then you better get ready for a baby who won't want to stay still!
Ugh. I think I missed my "window period" to sleep last night. I couldn't fall asleep until after 4 am.
I think K is getting rid of the last of the stomach bug. She woke up with THE FOULEST and nastiest blowout of all time. I didn't know what to do, so I just plopped her in the big tub, undressed her in there, and used the shower head to wash her! She was so confused since it was the first thing in the morning and I've never used that removable shower head on her before.
Tried to run a couple errands this morning and K was fussing almost an hour because we weren't home for her nap. Then she only napped 26 min.! I couldn't even finish folding the laundry. We're going to my ILs tonight for the big, extended family party and they don't even open gifts until close to midnight. We're sleeping over so I know K will not go to sleep with the party going on. It's going to be a loooong night. I am praying and hoping for a good afternoon nap.
Solids? I'm still getting the pursed, tight lips today. Bananas (when I can sneak it in her open mouth) and feeding herself toast are ok.

Merry Christmas!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day with their loved ones! We are waiting on R to wake up and head back to my parents for dinner. I am still in my pj's!
So last night R did great during church. She opened present and then I put her to bed. I think everyone was disappointed but it was 830, way past her bedtime. We left around 1045, and she went back to sleep in the car after I sang to her for a minute. We got home around 1130, and it was 1 before she fell back asleep. We both took turns rocking her, and she would just keep looking up at us wide awake. Finally just gave her a small bottle and that helped knock her out. Not to self no moving after asleep till next Christmas Eve. Not worth it!

Just wanted to pop in and say merry Christmas everyone! Hope the first Christmas was wonderful for all of you! We spent the morning at our house with my family opening gifts and eating breakfast and now we are on our way up to my aunts house for dinner (we are super late...). Liam got way too many gifts and that's only from us and my parents and siblings - he already has had so much fun playing with everything. We will be doing something with DH's family maybe this weekend since his dad is still in the hospital recovering after heart surgery.

Hi everyone! It's been so nice seeing your festive holiday photos and reading your Christmas Day updates.
The dust has finally settled over here and I'm trying to catch up on some emails now that Pete is napping and Christmas is over. He did so well the entire holiday.
On Christmas Eve, we have about 16 people over to my parents house for a big, loud, Italian celebration. Pete was a little overwhelmed at first. He was very pensive and shy and wanted to be carried for the first few hours, although he didn't care who was holding him, so my aunts and uncles had fun passing him around and snuggling. He started to get more comfortable after a bit and I put him on the floor to play with his older cousins (who are 3 and 5). He had so much fun crawling after them and watching them play with little cars. Seeing how they all entertained each other (so cute!) made me want to have more kids soon!
I put him to bed at my parents house around 7pm and he slept through the night there. The whole house was SO LOUD, I still can't believe he slept through it. He must have been exhausted.
We had fun opening gifts at my parents house in the morning and then we drove back to our place to begin cooking Christmas dinner. It was just a small crowd for Christmas dinner so Pete was more relaxed. He was obsessed with eating mashed potatoes and had them all over his face and head. In his ears, in his hair, everywhere!
So far, his favorite toy has been a big bin of mega blocks. He loves to use the bin to stand up and then he pulls out all 100 of the blocks and throws them on the floor. Great fun! He also loves these wind up cars that go zipping along the floors and he crawls after them. His least favorite toy is little Fisher Price dog that sings and lights up. He is 100% terrified of it. Scares the crap out of him, poor guy!
@Smurfette: She looks so proud of herself when she's clapping! Too cute! And I'm so impressed she did great at church! That's great!
@ALV91711: @dojo: Merry Christmas to you too! Hope it was a great day!!!!
@shopaholic: How did your night at the in-laws go? Did she get to sleep? I hope she gets her appetite back! I'm sure it's okay if she skips solids for a few days, as long as she's drinking her super-food breastmilk. Although, all the food at your Christmas feast looked so delicious, that was probably a good meal to convince her to try some solids again!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I can't wait for clapping!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Isaac's favourite thing to play with yesterday was a Christmas card! We had a seafood feast for dinner and Isaac loved the crab, I almost couldn't eat any as he was wanting it as fast as I could give it to him!
What is your favourite thing that LO got? Isaac got some really awesome hand crafted wooden toys.
Now back to real life and unpacking.

Happy Belated Merry Christmas to everyone! Whew! What a whirlwind of a few days! Finally got K down for a nap so I could write properly!
@Smurfette: Definitely don't think moving after sleep is worth it! Glad she did well at church though!
@dojo: Hope your FIL has a good and speedy recovery! Glad Liam was well-loved and spoiled!
@Smurfette: That is so cute! K does it whenever we say "yay!" now!
@QueensBee: Aww! Are you guys going to try soon? That is AMAZING he slept through all the noise! So funny about the dog and awesome he is using his megablock for multi-purpose use!
@ALV91711: Wow! I'm impressed you gave him crab! I read somewhere to wait until 3 y/o for shellfish - but my parents said the first food they gave us was shrimp! Go figure - I have a shrimp allergy. K's had some minor reactions after I eat any sort of shellfish, so I think I'm going to hold out. Though crab is just sooo tasty!
Our Christmas Eve was quite crazy! Of course K would only nap 26 min. that day. Slept the 50 min. drive to my in-laws, but the party was in full swing by the time we got there. She was having a BLAST! But to overstimulation is just putting it mildly. There must have been ~35 people over. I kept her up until ~ 9:30 to open one gift (per DH's wish). Well, she would NOT go to sleep with all the commotion outside. They are just one loud and rowdy group - it sounded like we were at a ball game during the White Elephant! Plus, the room we were staying in was off the front door and the sensor light kept going on/off and would come through the blinds. I ended up bringing her back out, wearing her in the Ergo, and FINALLY around midnight, taking her out for a freezing walk around the neighborhood in the Ergo. Of course outside she passed out within 3 min. Christmas Day was another full day - we only got two short naps and went to Dim Sum, my SIL's house, and had an hour & half drive home. Past her bedtime and she was HOWLING wailing and just upset for a couple of hours last night. I really don't even remember when she finally fell asleep and I put her in the crib. When I woke up, I couldn't remember if she was in bed with me or in her room. I fell asleep in my clothes, without washing up. So exhausted. Next year, if I have half a brain, we're leaving the party an hour before bedtime.
Today was nice though! Got to open OUR gifts for her and get her kind of back on schedule. She is still basically refusing solids. But I'm so glad she is napping.
My favorite things she got for Xmas are the PBK Anywhere Chair we got her, the iPad Grandpa bought her, and a tent from Etsy my sister got her. Her fave toy is probably the Zany Zoo.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I am not sure my favorite. We are opening gifts with the ILs tomorrow. They did give R her stocking and one present tonight. They gave her some cube toy like the Zany zoo. After I told SMIL at Thanksgivig that is what my parents were getting her. FIL asked she doesn't have one does she, I said yes my parents got her one for Christmas. Then they took the one they gave her out of the box and threw the box away. I am pissed I don't need two of the same damn toy in my house. And the Zany Zoo is much nicer. Just annoyed with the ILs in general. They did give R a nice check in her stocking, so that will be nice to put her in her savings account.
@shopaholic: Sounds like a busy busy Christmas. I can't believe K lasted up that long. Tomorrow night the IL want to drive 45 mins away to go eat at some restaurant and see people. I feel like I have to do it but I know it is going to mess up R. She is so off her schedule and it is starting to wear on her:(

Oh! I am pretty sure another big reason why she was crying so much last night -her 3rd top tooth (a front one) just cut through barely. She won't let me see, but I can feel the sharp edge.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: ugh. That's annoying. Maybe you can say to keep that one at their house so she can play when she's over there!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@QueensBee: I can't believe that he slept through everything and slept through the night. That is so awesome!!
@shopaholic: Wow, K must be exhausted, and you too. It will be good to get back on track. Hopefully with the tooth through she will sleep good.
@Smurfette: That sounds annoying. Maybe you know someone who could use the toy and you could pass it on to them? Having two is just kind of crazy.
Not having to deal with drama is one nice thing about spending Christmas as just the three of us.

I am soooo behind, but wanted to pop in because Xander pulled up to standing for the first time today!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Seriously! We have one more day at the ILs and I can't wait to get home and away from their drama. You know home with our two activity cubes.
@Adira: Go Xander!!!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Awww! Way to go Xander!
@ALV91711: Thanks! It was rough today, but we got 2 (sort of) naps!
It's been nice catching up on stuff at home today! DH took 2.5 weeks off work for "bonding time" and I managed to get so many odds & ends stuff done around the house AND go to Ikea today! Hilarious that this is my idea of a great Friday these days! Mounted the video monitors finally since K is pulling cords now.
K has been consistently saying "Hi!" and a few other words now! I wasn't ever sure she knew what she was saying, but with DH playing with her the past few days, he's pointed out to me that she knows when to say "Hi!", "Bye!", and "Yeah/Yay!" Well, the last one is usually just copying. But it's fun. She definitely will wave when you say Hi and clap when asked.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: Yikes!!
@Smurfette: Hopefully you won't have to go back there for a while. Maybe somehow you could 'forget' the activity cube at their house, just tuck it away in some obscure place were they won't notice until you are long gone.
@shopaholic: That must be so nice to have DH home to help out. I can't believe she says all those words.
Tonight was the worst bedtime in a while. Went down fine at 6. Woke up an hour later and was two hours before he was back asleep. We did CIO with checks, usually he calms down after a bit but not tonight. After not calming down we thought it could be teething and gave him Tylenol. Still took an hour after that. I hope he sleeps a long stretch tonight.
At least I get extra sleep tomorrow. DH is getting up with him to play and of breakfast.
Isaac clapped at dinner tonight. It was so cute! I hope he does it again soon. He spent a lot if time today getting on his hands and feet, also getting stuck under/behind things since he will only crawl backwards.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: that is great that she is talking so much. I think R says hey but not sure.
@ALV91711: how did the rest of the night go? I hope you got to sleep in!
R has woken up at 545 the last two mornings:( I thought we were getting away from that. I can't wait to go home tomorrow and get her back on her schedule.
But we have 6 teeth now. That one finally popped through overnight! I hope we get a break from teething for awhile.
bananas / 9973 posts
@ALV91711: Did he sleep better after the Tylenol? We haven't even been risking it. Giving K something every night until these teeth all come through. Clapping is so cute! People looove it! Haha on the crawling backwards.
@Smurfette: Ugh on the wakeup! K woke up 2 hours early today and was ready to play. I can't really ever remember that happening, so I'm hoping it was a one-off and not a new thing! Wow! Glad the last one broke through! I'm thinking it won't be easier for us until K's 6th one comes through too. We can just begin to see the tip of the 5th one, and I see the white under the gums for the 6th.

Carter is officially mobile! He gets up on all 4s all the time now and will rock back and forth, but army crawling is his preferred mode of transportation. He also can push himself to sitting from his belly. He seems so big! It's so fun to watch him moving all over the place but now I definitely need to get a move on with the baby proofing. It seems so overwhelming!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: @shopaholic: He woke up two times still last night. Then he was up at six. I nursed him and gave him to DH then slept for almost two more hours! And he napped pretty good today.
@jodyblair: yay for mobility! Isaac figured out how to get himself to sitting the other day too. I love this as he was forever wanting to be sat back up, now I haven't had to in a couple days.
@Smurfette: hopefully with that tooth through and coding home she will sleep longer.
@shopaholic: I hope that tooth comes in quickly and she doesn't make getting up early a habbit.
Tonight I gave Isaac Tylenol while he was getting ready for bed. I'm hoping that will help him just sleep

Urg, this morning it was 515. I can't wait to go home today and get back to her normal bedtime. We were making progress with these early wake ups and then the holidays hit.

@Smurfette: Yuck! I feel you, we were awake at 5, although he nursed for a while so I just dosed for a while.

Are any of your LOs eating less in bottles now?? R is finishing her morning bottle, and sometime her night one but the other two she is only drinking like 4 ozs. I don't think she is eating more solids. She already looks skinnier to me and we are supposed to be packing weight on her.
bananas / 9973 posts
@jodyblair: That's awesome! I love army crawling babies - but K never really went through that phase. Baby-proofing IS overwhelming. Every day I'm finding something new I need to baby-proof. Nothing is safe. Babies are like danger-magnets. lol
@ALV91711: That sounds better than the night we had!
@Smurfette: blech! IDK about how many ounces since we BF, but K hasn't had much of an appetite since her stomach bug. It seems like it is just starting to return today though! I have been worried too that she was eating less when the Dr. said I should be feeding her more. But I don't think she wanted to eat before these teeth broke through. I can't even get a look at them - she won't let me near her mouth.
Today I gave her slices of watermelon and she is definitely her mama's daughter! Looooved the watermelon (and I'm a huge watermelon junkie!) Even when it was naptime, she wouldn't let go of the chunk of watermelon she still had left. I had to pry it out of her fist. She also ate roasted carrots herself and had a little bit of purees. Now with all these teeth she's getting, I'm more comfortable with giving her pieces of food that require chewing. Is that like BLW? I just give her one piece at a time though... still not a fan of the mess.
Last night was something awful. She woke up at 12/1/3/6. I had to bring her into our bed to sleep because she was crying hysterically. I think the 6th tooth finally cut open the gum.
kiwi / 611 posts
@Smurfette: I'm not sure if Carter is eating less since he doesn't take bottles, but he definitely hasn't been as interested in nursing lately. I think he's just too busy and interested in everything around him to stop what he's doing to eat. I have noticed he's nursing for a long time before naps and bed, so I think when he's sleepy and less distracted, he'll nurse longer.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@jodyblair: I'm finding the same thing with nursing. He needs to be sleepy to actually nurse well.
@shopaholic: I hope tonight goes better for you.
I'm not sure how many teeth we are working on as I can't get a good look in his mouth, but when I was changing him I did notice a top tooth is coming in for sure and I'm pretty sure that there is one on the bottom that he's working on.
Today I actually changed his shirt because of all the drool. I don't bother with bibs because he just pulls and pulls on them .

Oh my gosh, I don't even remember the last time I posted here -- probably 5 months ago?! But it's been fun catching up tonight through the threads. Sounds like the holiday parties and traveling threw everyone else's schedules WAY off too. I am exhausted.
Here's where we are today, copied from the beginning of the thread
LO's name: Jack
Age: 9.5 months
Weight: 23 lbs
Length: 30 inches
Number of Teeth: 3 (working hard on 4, 5, and 6)
Clothing Size: 18 months
Cruising, Crawling, or Walking: army crawling and cruising, heaven help me
How many ounces of formula and/or Breast Milk per day: between 32 and 40... trying to "wean" from 5 bottles to four, but it's not going smoothly
How many solid meals a day: 2 or 3
Any words: mama, dada, baba -- mostly just babbles, but he has said mama on purpose a few times!
Milestone you're most looking forward to: is it terrible to say "sitting back down from standing?" he is a pro at pulling himself up, but he hasn't gotten the hang of sitting back down (on purpose, he has done a controlled fall a few times)... I'm VERY excited for that. And more words, of course
How's sleep going: Until a few days ago, it was awesome. From 5 months until now, he was regularly going down at 7 PM and not waking until 7:15 AM. Bad naps, 2-3 45-minute ones, but that was okay. NOW, with the pulling up and cruising and babbling and teething, he is fighting sleep SO hard and waking up and pulling up and crying because he can't get back down and it's driving me insane. Not to mention the many different cribs and the loud family get togethers over the past week.
I'm anxious for the new year so we can finally settle down again and get back into a routine. I'm excited for his three other top teeth that are showing JUST below the surface to poke through. I'm hoping he starts STTN like a champ again. So many plans for 2014, and almost all of them revolve around him!!
honeydew / 7589 posts
So I've been terrible at keeping up with this thread, again (you guys move fast!), but here's my attempt at an update!
LO's name: Viviana
Age: 9 months
Weight: I have no idea.
Length: Again, no idea. Will check back soon.
Number of Teeth: 6
Clothing Size: 12-18M
Cruising, Crawling, or Walking: Crawling VERY fast, walking with her walker and along the furniture
How many ounces of formula and/or Breast Milk per day: No idea, it's all from the boobies.
How many solid meals a day: 1-3
Any words: Mama, Baba, Vivi, Nana, Hajde ("come" in Albanian), Hi, "Got It!", Yeah, and Num Nums (her word for nursing).
Milestone you're most looking forward to: Walking! And more words.
How's sleep going: Not bad. We had a week during the holidays where it got bad but she's back to normal, sleeping basically 10PM-10AM.
persimmon / 1223 posts
@Smurfette: I think Liam has been eating less lately. From daycare he is still usually finishing bottles according to his paper but I notice he doesn't nurse very long and when DH gives him a bottle there's almost always an oz or two left. Maybe more solids though so I'm not sure overall.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Okay, I'm way behind... here's my attempt at semi-catching up!
@Smurfette: I was actually going to post about how Xander seems to be eating less now! I don't know about bottles, but for the last 3-4 days, he's only been nursing 3 times! I'm guessing because we're also now doing 3 meals of solids, so he's not as hungry? Not really sure what's going on... he's back at daycare today, so I'll be interested to see how much he drinks there.
@keepcalmcarrie: Welcome back!! Glad to hear that Jack is still thriving and things are going well! I'm so jealous he's says Mama! Xander just laughs at me when I try to get him to say it!! He only says "Dada" but he says it at everything, so I don't think he really knows what it means.
@ALV91711: Is that one of the first times he clapped? Baby clapping is soooooo cute! They seem so excited when they figure out how to do it! Though if you clap at Xander during dinner, he'll keep clapping and be so distracted, he won't eat!
@jodyblair: Yay for crawling baby!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Oh, I forgot to mention. We FINALLY installed the new convertible car seats! I kind of feel like the installation in my car makes the seat tilt slightly to one side... I wonder if that's okay? It's level front to back, but I don't think it is side to side... ugh.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Could you post a pic to the FB for the little site? Or get it inspected? We are going to install ours soon, I think. We only have one so far but we can use the infant seat in DHs car.
DH and I are going to take R to day care tomorrow after her morning nap and have a day date! Super excited. Then I am sure we will be in bed before midnight. Oh how NYE celebrations have changed.
persimmon / 1096 posts
@Adira: Thanks, I'm glad to be back! I'm not 100% convinced Jack knows what mama really means, but he does say it when I leave the room and that's been enough to convince me and DH that he's saying it for me on purpose
We are officially dipping our toes into the TTC-pool starting next month (well, really, this cycle, so over the next few days!) We haven't been preventing with anything besides timing over the past several months, but I feel as ready as I'll ever be now and we're both ready to get back more into BDing, so adding my best week back in to the rotation will be fun!! Anyone else thinking of #2 (or #3 or #4...) I'd like at least three, maybe up to six, so the clock is ticking too!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: That is so awesome that he has said mama! Hopefully soon he will figure out how to sit back down.
@Arden: What a lot of words, that is so awesome!
@Adira: That was the first time he clapped. Then he did yesterday morning and this morning when I was using hairspray!! He always gets excited by spray bottles and it was so cute that he clapped for it.
@Smurfette: Have fun on your date tomorrow!
We are in teething/sleep hell. I can for sure see three about to come in (the fourth on the bottom and the top middle two) Beside the top middle his gum is bruised.
Last night he woke up after 3 hours of sleep and was awake for two hours. Tonight he was so tired we decided to put him to bed early and it has now been just over two hours and he is still awake. He keeps drifting off and then opening his eyes and screaming. I know he is just hurting but we all need some sleep. I'm hoping these teeth come in!
