OMG, I think I have whatever Xander had except so much worse!! I cannot stop vomiting and there is absolutely nothing left in my stomach! Someone please put me out of my misery...

@Adira: You always get what he gets. I am sorry! I hope it stops soon.

@Smurfette: Thanks! I'm currently worried about becoming dehydrated because I can't keep anything down... But Xander seemed to feel fine the same day he was sick, so I'm really hoping I feel better soon!

just popping in to say hi!! it's been so hard for me to keep up with this thread, but i'm going to try harder!
have you guys started planning for their 1st birthdays? i can't believe all our LO's are going to be one soon!
i got J a zany zoo today off this FB mommy resale group i'm a part of. it's in excellent condition and i got it for $30! very happy about that.
@Adira: oh no!! hope you and xander both get well soon!

I fell down the stairs carrying Isaac today. So scary! He luckily is fine as I was able to catch him before he hit his head on the hardwood, he was just very scared and screaming. My butt is bruised and my back is sore and I was very freaked out. Luckily DH came home from work a few minutes after it happened and was able to make sure we were ok.
@Adira: I hope your feeling better. Both DH and I were up sick last night, not fun at all.
@Mrs. High Heels: That is an excellent deal. I was just reading J's update, such a happy boy.

@Mrs. High Heels: Yep!! We are having it at the house. Emailing my friend tonight who is designing the invitations. Going to be Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, full of pink and glitter.
Good find in the Zany Zoo! R doesn't love hers so far, probably cause it doesn't have anything she can put in her mouth.
@ALV91711: Oh no! So scary! Glad that you both are ok!!
And we are teething again.

@ALV91711: OMG!! So scary!! Falling down the stairs while holding Xander is one of my big fears! Soooo relieved you are both okay!

@Adira: Yuck! Hope you feel better soon!
@Mrs. High Heels: We're going to have his party at our house and I'm thinking about doing "Our little monster is turning one" for the theme with bright primary colors...thanks, Pinterest
@ALV91711: I am such a klutz and I'm always so scared of falling down the stairs while holding Carter. So glad y'all are ok!
Little man had his 9 month check up today and he's still a little peanut! 16lbs 11 oz and 27 1/4 in long. They had me fill out a questionnaire about his fine/gross motor skills and social development. It made me a little nervous that he's not reaching his physical milestones on time, but I know every baby develops at their own rate. The doctor wasn't concerned at all, so I know I shouldn't be either! He's scooting around and pulling up to his knees, but not cruising along furniture or standing unassisted yet. All in good time...

@ALV91711: Gosh that is scary. So glad you guys are ok!!
@Adira: Hope your birthday was great!! I second the G2. Hope you feel better soon.
@Smurfette: thatz crazy R is walking!! Way to go !!! Mine only recently started doing baby pushups.. just a few months behind yours
@Purpledaisy: hope your LO is feeling better.
So our renovation & move is finally going to be done by this weekend I can't believe it!! Just some minor work and I hope it can be done with snowstorm otherwise it has to wait till next week.
J has been teething a lot recently and DH says its top teeth though I can't see them yet. We are traveling international soon for a couple of days and I have been trying to get J used to eating from a pouch with some success (less messy on flight). I also tried giving some cow's milk mixed with formula.. total mistake he had runny poop. Its a lot of bottles to pack as he doesn't like the taste of powder formula. He gets atleast 24 ounces from formula/bm per day but then some days he drinks way more than that. I guess in any case most of our check-in is going to be baby food & his stuff so a few extra bottles should not make a big difference! So much to pack and we just finished unpacking!!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@ALV91711: that's so scary! that happened to me once with N and i nearly had a heart attack. glad you guys are ok!!
@Smurfette: that's such a cute theme! i am a huge fan of anything that sparkles so you had me at glitter! we are teething here too. and wow, R is walking?!
@jodyblair: that theme sounds really cute! J doesn't seem as physically advanced as some of the LO's in this monthly thread either. he is pulling up only to his knees too, and still can't pull up all the way to standing on his own… and he isn't cruising yet either. he's actually an end of february baby so older than most of the LO's here. my pediatrician wasn't concerned either, but i do worry sometimes! he just finally started sitting up on his own this past month, but has been crawling forever (since 6 months!).
i've been thinking about doing a "lil man mustache" type theme. i just went to our city civic center today to fill out an application to reserve a nearby park for J's birthday.
@silver1: i know i probably missed this somewhere in the thread, but where internationally are you guys going? have fun!! i bet you'll feel like superwoman once you've conquered traveling internationally with your LO.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@jodyblair: R was basically the same stats at 9 months. Peanuts together!
@silver1: @Mrs. High Heels: I think it might have been a fluke she had no interest in walking last night with us, unless she was holding onto something.

@Smurfette: Sounds like she's getting close though! It's going to be so fun to see her walking.

Hi everyone! We made it home from sunny Florida yesterday just in time for the Hercules blizzard in the north east! What a change in weather! Of course, I have Pete's 9 month pediatrician appointment scheduled for 11:30am so that should be a bit of an adventure. I considered rescheduling but it's supposed to be in the teens for most of next week so I guess I'd rather trudge into Manhattan with him on a day that I already have off. Anyway, I hope to be report his current stats after the appointment later today.
@arden: Oh my gosh, that's so many words, in multiple languages! I am so so impressed! Can V teach Pete some words? I am still (impatiently) waiting on Mama over here!
@Smurfette: Awe, your Happy New Year note was so sweet! I love all the ladies on this thread too and I don't know how I would have survived the first 9 months without it. We are so lucky to have found such a supportive community!
And, I am beyond excited that R took one step today. I just love how ambitious and courageous she is, especially since she's such an adorable little peanut!
@Adira: Happy (belated) Birthday!!! I am so sorry that you are feeling so sick. That just sounds terrible. I hope you guys can catch a break soon! How are you feeling this morning?
@silver1: Congratulations! And like @mrs. high heels, I am so curious to know where you will be traveling? Jealous! I bet he can get used to pouches over a few days.
@jodyblair: I think as long as the ped is not concerned, you definitely should not be either, especially at this early age. We have our appointment in an hour and now I'm curious if i will fill out one of those forms too. Will let you know!
@Mrs. High Heels: The mustache idea is adorable and hilarious! We haven't started planning any sort of party yet but I'll let you know if we do. Baby birthday themes are so fun!
@ALV91711: Oh gosh, that is scary! I'm so happy you guys are okay. The stairs at my parents house are very slippery hardwood stairs and I'm always so nervous on them, especially carrying Pete. I've definitely had a few close calls. I hope your bruises feel better soon.
@shopaholic: Your vacation photos look so cozy and fun! I hope you were able to get some basic baby-proofing done. What a nice getaway for the three of you!

@ALV91711: Oh no! That is so scary! Glad everyone is ok!@Mrs. High Heels: I just started thinking about it. I think I want to do a retro cowboy theme because his birthday is during rodeo season here. Yes- It's a season.
@jodyblair: Aw cute little one. I agree that they all do things in their own time. L still isn't really clapping. He slaps his legs and seems to think that is clapping.
@QueensBee: Glad you made it home!
An update to share (cross-posted)- The last three nights have gotten so much easier at bedtime- 8 minutes of crying, 10 minutes, then last night, 2 1/2 minutes! Yay! So good that we started to tackle wake-ups. Ugh. Last night he woke at 12:30 and cried. At 1 am I fed him and then put him back down. He cried on and off until 3 am. Miserable. But I know that it worked with bedtime so we will keep at it. Bleary-eyed though we are.

@Adira: Such a handsome fellow!!! I'm so impressed that he will sit still long enough for you to take such a cute photo. I can't believe he is ten months already!
Okay, we survived our trip to the pediatrician in this blustery weather. It actually felt nice to get outside although boy oh boy, was it cold!
New stats are:
Weight 20 lb 2 oz (54%)
Height 27.5 inches (12%)
Head circumference 46 cm (74%)
I sure hope he gets taller eventually because he is going to be short little guy if he stays in the 12th percentile! The doc said that they'll have a better estimate of his adult height when he turns two.
He had to get his flu booster shot which he hated but other than that the appointment went really well. I can't believe his next check-up will be after he turns one in March. CRAZY.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Look at those rosey cheeks!!
@QueensBee: Glad that you survived the trip out in the cold. And everything went good! DH will be in NYC next week and not looking forward to the weather. Mon and Tues are predicted to be the coldest days here in 5 years, so I can imagine how cold it will be up north.

@Smurfette: What teeth is she getting now? None of the one's Isaac is working on have come through yet.
Last night we had a two hour wakeup. He woke up about 12:30 to nurse and wouldn't go back to sleep. He wasn't crying or fussing. That was a long wake up. Then about an hour after he was asleep he was up again for a quick nurse.
@jodyblair: Nothing wrong with a peanut. Sounds like him and Isaac are at about the same place for physical milestones. They will get there.
@silver1: I hope that you have a great trip! Where are you headed? Packing to go away with a baby is so much different.
@Mrs. High Heels: I wish we could have an outdoor birthday party, but there will more than likely still be snow here. Last year the day he was born it snowed a foot!
We will be having a small party at our house. Just some family and maybe a couple friends. I'm going to go with a Sesame Street theme.
@travellingbee: Sounds like good progress with the sleep. Hopefully it will only take a couple nights for the middle of the night wake ups. How many times does he wake up? Is he spending the night in his crib now?
@Adira: What an adorable 10 month old!! I can't believe you can get him to sit for you to take pics.
@QueensBee: Glad the appointment went good. It is hard to believe how quickly March will be here!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: 3, 2, 1 Such a cute theme!
@ALV91711: the left one from her bottom two. I don't know the actual names of the teeth.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I don't know the names either. That was the third one Isaac got, now he is working on the other side and his top front.
I think we've created a drug monster. Usually he fights Tylenol a bit. Tonight I walked towards him while DH was getting him ready for bed and he opened his mouth wide! Tonight we tried infants Advil to see if that helps better.
apricot / 338 posts
@travellingbee: 1,3,2 cute invites and love the theme!! maybe hez teething and crying in pain? We give LO some tylenol if he cries in middle of night and he quiets and goes right back to sleep!
@Mrs. High Heels: @QueensBee: @ALV91711: traveling to India to visit family who have not seen LO yet. gosh so much to plan its a bit overwhelming. I am usually the type that packs the night before a trip and very minimal. This is going to be a very different trip. haha I wish I were superwoman
@QueensBee: brrr it was cold today. glad the trip went well!! I have heard same too about 2 year predictor of height. Can't believe 1st bdays are right around the corner!!
@Adira: he is adorable!!
@Mrs. High Heels: thatz a cool theme. I was not planning a bday party but looking at all the fun ideas makes me want one! maybe a little prince theme.
@ALV91711: LO fights tylenol too I wonder if its the syringe he doesn't like? but he loves the teething tablets and opens his mouth for that. love your theme!!
@jodyblair: LO is in the same place as well on physical milestones. He is huge though and he is looking more like a toddler nowadays enjoy the baby phase while you can!! I didn't fill out any form at 9 mo appt. maybe its a regional thing.

I'm trying to catch up...I'm terrible at keeping up with this thread!
Quinn had her 9 month appt yesterday! 20lbs11oz and 30.5in tall. Her regular ped is on maternity leave so we saw her sub, and I was not a fan. Oh well. Other than that, not much is new. Today has been ROUGH...I think she is working on her 2nd tooth, and has been so fussy/clingy today. We gave her some tylenol and she seems to be doing a bit better thankfully.
@Adira: He is so adorable! I hope you're feeling better. That bug sounds awful.
@travellingbee: I like 1 and 3! Super cute theme.
@ALV91711: haha! Whenever I give Quinn tylenol she does the same thing, and sucks it right down.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: @ALV91711: haha, trust me, he doesn't sit still!! I had to keep grabbing him as he was crawling off and putting him back into position! And that was after I gave up on trying to get a picture of him lying on his back because as soon as I put him down, he'd roll over and crawl away. And he was soooooo hyper during this photo shoot!!! He was doing the heavy excited panting and laughing!! It was fun, but hard to get a good picture of him!!
@travellingbee: I love that third option the best I think!! What's your favorite?
@ALV91711: Xander loves Tylenol!! He won't always open wide for it, but as soon as you get some in his mouth, he tries to suck the rest out of the medicine dropper! And even though I KNOW it can't work instantly, as soon as he has it, he stops crying!!
@boots: Oh wow, Quinn is such a healthy big baby!!! Good job, Mama!!! Bummer that the pediatrician you saw wasn't very good though. Hopefully you see your normal one next time!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: R sucks down medicine like it is candy!
@Adira: Are you feeling better?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes, much better!!! I guess the norovirus has been going around in my town. Someone must've had it at the daycare and Xander got it and passed it to me. And then I passed it on to my parents and brother. But it only lasted 24 hours (less really) and then I felt MUCH better! I feel fully recovered today!
pear / 1718 posts
@travellingbee: They are all so cute! I my favorite is #2, then #3, and then #1. I think that's such a clever theme and it sounds like it's perfectly timed. Rodeo season! You have blown the mind of the NYC dweller! How fun!
In fact, looking at your links made me want to plan a first birthday party too! After talking it over, we decided that if we find a house in the 'burbs in the next few months, we will try to host a birthday/housewarming party in mid-April so that we have a chance of the weather being warm enough to bbq. And, if this all works out, the theme will be dinosaurs and we will probably use these invitations:
http://www.minted.com/product/kids-party-invitations/MIN-64X-CBP/cakeasaurus-dinosaur
If we don't find a house, it just doesn't seem worth it for us to try to host people at a local restaurant. Everything is so expensive, our whole budget would go to just covering basic food and drink, and we wouldn't have any extra to spend on the fun stuff like invitations!
@Adira: At least those horrific viruses USUALLY pass in 24 hours. So glad you're feeling better! Crazy how contagious that thing was!
So Pete has turned into a food monster. It's actually a bit of a problem. Ya'll already know that he is a great eater of finger food, which is awesome, but over the past week he has become SO AGGRESSIVE with food. We cannot eat anything in his line of sight or he throws a fit. For example, when in Florida, we would feed him his usual lunch at the condo. Then we would all go out to a beachside restaurant for grownup lunch. He would scream when the bread basket arrived until we fed him tons of bread. Once our food arrived, he screamed again until we fed him and wouldn't stop until the plates were cleared and taken away. The pediatrician didn't seem concerned so I'm not going to worry about it but it is nearly impossible for me to enjoy a meal! I'm happy he's such a good eater but I hope he calms down and learns some manners soon. Sheesh! Piggy.
Also, is anyone else have a huge problem with diaper changes? Pete is sooooo squirmy that each poop-filled diaper change has the potential to be disastrous. He flips over and kicks and flails and squeals. It's like a full body workout. I hope this is a phase that passes soon but I am worried it will only get worse as he becomes more mobile, more nosy, and stronger!
kiwi / 611 posts
@QueensBee: Diaper changes are getting a little tricky here too. I try to give him something he doesn't normally get to play with (his hairbrush, the container of wipes, the remote) just to distract him long enough to get him in a new diaper. It usually works, but there are still some times I feel like I'm trying to put a diaper on an octopus!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@boots: She sounds nice and healthy! Hopefully that tooth comes through and she can be happy.
@Adira: Glad you are better. Being sick is no fun.
@QueensBee: I hope you find a house so that you can have a party! Sounds like he loves eating. Hopefully he will calm down a bit though. How much milk is he drinking in a day? Diaper changes here can be interesting. He is happy if he is holding the penaten tube, he will babble happily to it. Otherwise he is twisting and turning trying to find something.
Isaac's party is going to be super small since not much of our family lives close by. It will be us, my mom, DH's aunt and uncle and maybe one or two other people.
Found a wooden activity cube online yesterday and I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. I'm so excited to get this for Isaac and for only $30. I hope it doesn't fall through as I've had that happen with online purchases before.
pomelo / 5621 posts
And we now have a forwards crawler!! It is funny to watch him go as he is pretty slow and his knees slip around a lot on the floors. But I'm happy that he can go in more than one direction now.
pear / 1718 posts
@ALV91711: So exciting! I think that crawling babies are the cutest things ever. Zoom, zoom, zoom!
Pete is drinking between 22-28 ounces of formula each day. Generally, I offer him four 7 ounce bottles each day, but sometimes he doesn't finish them. Each day is a little different but that's the general range.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: Yes! I feel like I am wrestling an alligator during diaper changes. She moves so much. It takes so much longer now. @ALV91711: $30 is a score! Yay for crawling!!!
@QueensBee: We offer 7 ozs bottles too. She is getting better about finishing but sometimes only drinks 5 or 6 ozs. I think she is feeling better cause she ate SO much better today.
DH is leaving in the am. I am sad. It has been so nice having him home for two weeks. Back to reality

@Smurfette: I'm sorry your DH has to leave tomorrow. Mine will be away for 5 days starting 1/16 and I am already dreading it so much. I can't imagine having each week be like that. But, you are such a superstar for doing it all on your own! I hope the time away goes by quickly!
So glad she is feeling better and eating well! She's been looking exceptionally cute in her IG photos this week!

So next Friday I have my first ladies weekend away from Pete! I am visiting a close friend in Washington, D.C. with another good friend. We are taking Amtrak down together at 6:45pm on Friday and returning around 2pm on Sunday. I am going to miss DH and Pete so much but I am really looking forward to catching up with my gals. We plan to sleep in, brunch, and go to yoga. Maybe shopping too! So excited. Plus, I think it will be great for my boys to spend the weekend together without me hovering over them!

@QueensBee: thanks! I think she is the cutest!! DH and I crack up at her all the time. So fun! You are going to have a blast. It will be good for DH and P! Male bonding timd. DH loved his weekend with R when I went away. Just a warning, they act like littles angles for Dad.

I think J is full blown in wonder week 46 - it's been rough around here!! He's super moody, super clingy (and cries the second i try to put him down), and he has been waking up for the day at 5:30 am! His naps have been pretty crappy and he doesn't go down for the night easily either. Sigh. I hope this passes soon! He also hasn't been nursing well, he gets so distracted and doesn't want to eat. Today I had to feed him breast milk through a straw cup for lunch and he guzzled down 4 ounces! He's been putting up a fight with bottles but will drink from a straw cup. Sheesh!
@ALV91711: Aw fun!! Time to babyproof!
@Smurfette: I don't know how you solo parent for so many days at a time - it must be so hard and tiring.
@QueensBee: That sounds like a fantastic plan! It's always so nice to get away with the girls for some bonding time. Enjoy!
