@travellingbee: OMG, babies are crazy. Xander just did the same thing this morning, except he woke up, cried for a few minutes, and then just sat there for 20 minutes before he started crying again! Glad L only had one MOTN wake-up and eventually was able to put himself back to sleep!!
@ALV91711: I hope your nights continue to improve!!
Ugh, the last two days, Xander's been waking up at 5:00 a.m. or earlier! WTF?? And he won't just go back to sleep - I have to nurse him! Is there a growth spurt at this age?? I'm just thankful he's doing it during the week since I'm already up at 5:00... hope he stops before the weekend!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, poor R!!! Xander recovered quickly from his stomach bug too, so hopefully R feels better soon! And I REALLY hope you don't catch it! I thought I was going to DIE when I had it. And if you do get it - make sure you at least keep drinking liquids. Having to vomit with an empty stomach is the WORST!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Online says 9 months, so maybe Xander is just going through it now. Or is it cause he isn't nursing before bed still?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm not sure! He WAS sleeping until 6:00/6:30 before waking to eat and getting 11-12 hours of sleep. Now he's waking up after only 9.5 hours at 4:30/5:00! But it's only been the last two days, so I have no idea what's going on...

OMG guys, my supply is TANKING! I have only been able to pump 3 ounces max per pumping session! What is going on? I am just finish AF so it can't be that...

@dojo: That's so cute about the juice! We let K have a sip of OJ last weekend, but I didn't want her to like it too much, so that was it. lol. My girl will be deprived. hahah Cute birthday theme!
Wow, LOs moving up to the big room. Makes sense though - K seems so much bigger than even my friends' 4-5 month olds. I'm always scared she's going to lean on them or poke an eye out. I don't worry if she plays with the 1 yr olds or a little older.
@travellingbee: We're doing 11:30 - 2:30 for our party. Most of the ones we have been too were similar time.
@cheesehead: Aww! Love his name! Austin seems close in size to K. Yay for birthday twins! Wow! Walking! And such a good sleeper!
@ALV91711: Thank you. I went to sleep early last night. Feeling a little bit better, so I'll probably cook and go back down to visit again today. Sorry about the MOTN crying. Hope it gets better tonight.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I would give it a couple days and see if continues. Does he want to eat and go back to sleep? or up for the day?
@travellingbee: Adira was having some issues too. Not sure if she found anything to help. Is it just today?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: No, he eats and then goes back to sleep!
@travellingbee: Was this the first time AF came back for you? I always thought when AF showed up, your supply dipped, but then came back. I've only had AF once, but my supply tanked and hasn't recovered and it's been almost a month. I've been pumping around the clock to try to get it back up and having no luck...
I asked around on HB and I guess it's pretty common at this age for your supply to start diminishing. Presumably our babies are eating more solids and don't need as much milk, so our supply starts to tank...
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: No it's my 3rd cycle. I was thinking that but he's still gobbling down 5 ounces and I am only pumping 3 at a time!
@Smurfette: No, yesterday too. I'll have to try to pump tonight to make it up. I never have to do that.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Well Xander is still drinking 6+ oz in his bottles, but I think on the weekends when we're just nursing, he's eating less. We were together for over a week during the holidays and I think that really messed up my supply! Do you feel like L is still eating the same from you?
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: Not sure... so are you supplementing with stash milk?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Well, I pump over the weekend, so I have extra from the weekend that I've been using over the week. Though I had to break out some freezer stash for today's bottles.

How many naps/day is your March baby on these days? And what are they like and the time spacing?
I can't figure out K. Most days, she's down to 2 now. But if she only sleeps ~30 min. each nap, I really need to figure out when to squeeze in another one before bed. ugh. sigh. The never-ending issue with naps...
kiwi / 611 posts
@travellingbee: He slept through the night again last night! 4 nights in a row! So crazy. I really hope this keeps up. His 2nd nap was only a 40 min car nap so he was ready for bed by 5:30. I tried to keep him up for as long as I could, but he was sooooo tired. I finally put him down at 6. That's the earliest I have ever put him to bed so hopefully it doesn't mess with these new sleep habits!
@shopaholic: We do the 2-3-4 nap schedule. He goes down for a nap 2 hours after he wakes up for the day (although he can't usually make it more than 1 hr 45 min). Then he goes down for his 2nd nap 3 hours after he wakes up from his first nap. He goes to bed 4 hours after he wakes up from his last nap. His naps are usually about an hour and a half long. A typical day of sleep for us looks like this:
7:00 Wake up
9:00-10:30 1st nap
12:30-2:00 2nd nap
6:00 In bed for the night
This changes from day to day depending on when he wakes up in the morning and how long his naps last. Is nice to have a routine though. His naps were almost always less than an hour before we did 2-3-4 because he was either overtired or not tired enough for his naps.
cherry / 134 posts
@shopaholic: we only take 1 nap a day here...not for lack of trying though! He wakes up between 8-8:30, nap around 11:30 for about an hour, sometimes a bit longer. Very rarely will he take a nap after his 4:00 bottle.
And the little man figured out its fun to feed mommy his goldfish crackers tonight. He thinks it's the funniest thing ever!

@Smurfette: Gahhh that's such a cute outfit! Perfect for your twinkle star theme! Hope the stomach issue is over and her big appetite is back tomorrow.
@cheesehead: Welcome to the group! I was so happily surprised when I saw a new poster joining in! And, Austin is our first March baby walking! So advanced! Haha, I love that he yells at the dogs.
@Adira: I've just accepted the fact that Pete wakes up between 5 and 5:30am every day. But, we can usually get him back to sleep in bed with us for another 1/2 hour of sleep. I hope it's just a fluke for Xander though and he wakes up at usual time again. Your mornings already start so early and sound so hectic with the pumping, I can't imagine adding an early-bird baby into the mix!
@shopaholic: Pete is on a two nap schedule. When he's home, he usually sleeps from 9:30-11am and then 1:30-3 or 3:30pm. When he's at daycare, the naps are much short. 10:00-10:45am and 3:00-3:45pm usually...
His bedtime is between 6 and 6:30pm.
So Pete has decided that he's over formula this week. He drinks a big 8 ounce bottle in the morning but then he hardly wants to touch the stuff all day. I've tried giving it to him before he eats, so he isn't full on solids, but he still pushes it away. He gulps down water and gulps down food, but he probably only had 6 or 7 ounces after his morning bottle all day. I have to call the pediatrician on Monday to see what the minimum amount of formula per day is at this age. Question for the FF babies- how much are they drinking each day now?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Xander can usually do 3-hour awake stretches, so he's usually on 2 naps a day, but occasionally he wants to go down for his first nap after only being up for an hour and then he has to do 3 naps. But today went like this:
7:00 - up for the day
9:45 - 11:25 - nap
2:35 - 4:00 - nap
7:30 - bed
But some days are more like this:
6:30 - up for the day
7:30 - 8:30 - nap
11:30 - 12:30 - nap
3:30 - 4:30 - nap
7:30 - bed
@QueensBee: Xander usually goes back to sleep too. After I nurse him, I put him back in his crib and go pump and he usually falls back asleep until Hubs gets him up at 7:00.

@cheesehead: Can Austin stand up without holding onto anything? Trying to figure out if R is going to do that first or walk.
@shopaholic: She takes two naps a day. At day care goes down between 9-930 and then again between 1-2. Usually they are 30-50 mins. She doesn't nap good at all. At home we put her down at 9, and will sleep an hour to 2.5 hours. Then she goes down at 230 (earlier if she didn't nap long in the AM) and naps an hour max.
Setting nap times has really helped her to nap longer. Even at day care most days are 45 mins.
The last 2 days she has taken 2 30min naps and that is all. Makes me sad that she doesn't get the sleep she needs cause I am at work.
@cheesehead: So cute!! I should give R some Goldfish, I think she would like them.
@QueensBee: I think she is feeling better, even though her cheeks were really rosey. She ate like normal today. I sent a lot of food for lunch incase she didn't drink her bottles. She drank 7ozs, 5.5ozs, 5ozs, 7ozs.
Have you tried formula in a sippy cup?
DH is going to take R to the doctor in the am. This yeast rash keeps coming back and going away. Want to make sure nothing else is going on. I am going to make sure DH gets her weighed! She had some diaper free time tonight, she looked so cute with her shirt on and bare bottom. Luckily she didn't pee till we got in the bathroom and it was on the tile floor.
She did a squat tonight and then stood back up with holding onto anything. I don't remember seeing her do that before. Getting closer to standing up on her own! She also took two tiny steps.
cherry / 134 posts
@Smurfette: not really. He usually pulls up on something to get up. I've seen him stand up once on his own.
Poor R, hopefully the rash will go away soon. She will be running all over before you know it!
@QueensBee: I probably shouldn't encourage the yelling, but it's so darn cute.

I have been trying to write for the past hour but my cat keeps jumping on my laptop demanding attention. Her time is after LO goes to sleep and she is making sure to get every sec! :-).
@shopaholic: J is on a 2-nap schedule. He usually wakes up 6am to eat, back to sleep and up for the day at 8am, then 1st nap around 11am and 2nd nap around 3pm. He naps anywhere from 1-2hours and in bed by 7:30/8 although it can get pushed back if he had a later afternoon nap.
@Smurfette: cute outfit and with glitter!! Thatz exciting R is so close to walking!! Hope the rash clears soon.
I am thinking of this outfit for my LO.
@cheesehead: Gosh hez so advanced walking!! Aww thatz so cute hez feeding you!!
@QueensBee: Mine drinks atleast 28oz. Hez not a big eater though with some breakfast, a jar for lunch, maybe a bite of fruit for snack and dinner if hez in mood. He doesn't usually finish dinner but fills up on milk before bed.
@Adira: Hope he gets back to later wake up by the weekend! Our LOs need to learn that sleeping in is good!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Hope you have some luck at the doctor's and get that rash to go away for good! And I can't believe how close to walking she is!!!
@silver1: That outfit is so cute!!
Oh my gosh, girls, I think all this damn pumping is FINALLY starting to pay off! Ever since I returned to work from vacation over the holidays, I've only been able to pump 15 oz if I'm lucky and I've been sending Xander to daycare with 18+ oz. But TODAY I finally had a breakthrough! 17 oz!!! I'm so close to being back up to meeting his demands!!! Fingers crossed that this is the beginning of my supply going back up!!!
ETA: OMG, I just realized that I spend THREE HOURS each day pumping. WTF.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I hope his waking up early is a very short phase! At least he goes back to sleep after he nurses though. Glad your supply is up, that is a lot of the day pumping!
@travellingbee: I hope that your supply goes up!
@shopaholic: Normally two naps a day. Usually about 2.5 hours after he gets up and then nap 2 is 2.5-3 hours after the first nap. Then about 3.5-4 hours after that is bedtime. His first nap is about 40 min and second nap is about 1.5 hours. And he only naps in my bed with me. I've got to get him back in his crib here soon. He's also gone back to only going for a nap with nursing first but he was being able to go down by being rocked before.
@jodyblair: That is so awesome that he is sleeping through the night! I hope that you are sleeping too.
@cheesehead: That is so cute that he is feeding you!
@QueensBee: I would try the sippy cup for formula and see if he takes to that. Or would you be opposed to giving him one bottle/cup of whole milk in the afternoon so he is getting something?
@Smurfette: I hope that the rash goes away soon, poor girl.
@silver1: That is such a cute outfit. Where did you find it?
I think I'm going to have to start doing afternoon snack. Normally around 2 or 2:30 Isaac will nurse and then eat dinner around 4:30 and nurse once more before bed. The last couple days he has wanted to nurse one more time before dinner. What should I be giving for a snack and how much? I think with starting a snack I will give him a cup with 2-3oz of whole milk soon too. Got to get him used to it and daytime weaned around the end of Feb.

Thanks ladies for all your nap details! Now I need to jot them all down or put it in an excel spreadsheet to figure it out!
I've been trying to do the 2-3-4 scheudle for naps for gah - FOREVER it seems like? I do think she goes down easier for the first nap if it's a little earlier than 2hrs from wake-up (which I thought at her age she would be going longer?) Since her wake-up is all over the place too, it's hard to put her on a schedule. Like, I was trying to do a 10:30 or 11 am nap, since she was starting to wake up around 8:30-9. But somedays she's up before 8 and I can't even get her to make it till 10:30 or there will be no nap. And the 2-3-4 doesn't work out when she only naps 30 min. Then "4" becomes a third nap too close to bedtime... ugh. You guys have no idea how many hours I've gone over and over this nap thing... At least it's comforting to hear most of your LOs still want to go to bed 1.5-2 hrs after wake up...
pomelo / 5621 posts
4:30 wake up again. Yuck!! I'm not sure what to do, we've been putting him to bed at roughly the same time for a while now. 6pm, give or take 15 min
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@shopaholic: L takes 2 naps and is pretty close to that 2-3-4 schedule but it depends on the day. He naps for an hour in the am, and anywhere from 1-2 hours in the afternoon. Then bedtime is 745ish.
He slept fairly well last night. 2 wake ups (1130 and 330) but he went back in his crib both times with minimal crying. This is a huge improvement!
@silver1: so cute!! Love that outfit! I think we need to get our little buckaroo some cowboy boots!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Like up for the day at 430? As for snacks, we do Mum Mums, applesauce, puffs, Gerber Cookies, cheese.
@silver1: That is beyond adorable! I love bow ties for boys.
@Adira: Woo hoo!
@shopaholic: Have you tried the same nap time every day, no matter what time she wakes up in the morning? I think that has really helped R.
@travellingbee:
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
DH just called and R just has eczema down there. She gave a prescription for it. DH said she seems fine today, and not itching herself during diaper changes.
And operation gain weight is going great. Cause in a month girlfriend gained 2 lbs!! She is 18.2lbs!!! So maybe the scale was off at her 9 month appointment.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Holy smokes!! R weighs more than Xander now!!! Good job feeding her!! And that's good that it's just eczema, though annoying that you have to deal with that! Aquaphor is your best friend.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@travellingbee: I'm glad he is going back in his crib! That is great improvement.
@Smurfette: Yes, up for the day. He nurses and then doesn't want to go back to sleep. I've hung out with him until about 6 and then DH gets up and hangs out with him for 1-1.5 hours so I can sleep a bit more before he goes to work. The crap thing is Isaac is cranky and clingy for most of the day and this morning he only had a half hour nap although he clearly needs more.
That is awesome weight gain! Must be all the yummy food.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She is getting to be a chunky monkey! All that avocado is paying off I guess. How do you deal with eczema? Do we need to cut back on her baths? I hate to do that cause she loves them!
@ALV91711: Can you leave him the crib when he wakes up? We did with R when she was waking up so early and she finally started sleeping later. Do you nurse in the dark? Don't talk to him?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I nurse in the dark and don't say anything. Maybe I will try leaving him for a while, it is not like he needs to nurse then, just usually he falls asleep when it is so early.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I would leave him and see how it goes. We wouldn't go get R till it was 6 or she started to crying hysterically.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: For Xander, we only bathe him twice a week and we make his baths pretty short. But you could try just doing Aquaphor before you start skipping baths. When Xander has a patch of eczema, I put Aquaphor on it at diaper changes and before bed. And if it's really bad, I'll use a 1% hydrocortisone ointment on it instead.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: So maybe just skip a bath this weekend so it will heal faster? Then just cut back if they start if it comes back? The doctor prescribed something cause she said she doesn't like hydrocortisone on a vagina. Good thing we have a huge tub of Aquaphor! What do you use when he has a diaper rash?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I always assume Xander's diaper rash is due to being overly wet and not eczema, so it really depends on WHERE the issue is. But for an actual diaper rash, I just always make sure the area is dry before putting on the diaper and use Desitin. Though I've heard you can use Aquaphor too for diaper rashes, so you could try that!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: We usually use Aquaphor or Triple Paste. I hate the way Desitin smells. But the pedi said no pastes. So we will keep using Desitin over night. I always put something on overnight since she is in the diaper 11-12 hours. Thanks!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yep, we're the same way. I don't always use something on Xander's diaper area if it's looking good, but overnight, I ALWAYS put something on because he's going to be in it for a while! I guess I haven't noticed that Desitin smells!!! You must have a more sensitive nose than me, haha. Although, I'm always sick, so that's probably part of it! HOPEFULLY her rash clears up for you soon!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Yup, I've tried to do 10:30 or 11 as a set time, and both were fails. If she wakes up early or late, I cannot get her to nap at the set time.
Well, Kaitlyn decided to wake up before 8, which is almost 1-2 hrs earlier than normal. She went down easily for her first nap, but again, only 32 min. I tried letting her stay in the room until at least 45 min. but she wouldn't fall back asleep, just stood in her crib crying. I bought The Sleep Easy Solution last night in desperation for naps. I just don't understand these "sleep training" methods: Don't start when they are teething, sick, getting over being sick, any kind of change in their normal life, etc. Well, I feel like LO is always teething? And when she isn't teething, does all that training go out the window once she starts teething again - and then you have to start all over with there training? Sounds like that from some of my mommy group friends....
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Have your tried Coconut Oil? I mainly use coconut oil or Triple Paste if it's bad. Why did the ped say no paste?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: The paste has cornstarch which makes it worse. Same if they have a yeast rash.
I feel the same about teething. We have been teething non stop since August. Sorry you are having such nap issues.
