@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, I will have to dig through old IGs to find it! Go, R!
@Adira: Haha I agree with @smurfette- Xander is the most chill baby ever! Pete is more obsessed with his pacifier than ever. I'm not sure how or when we are going to wean.
My super eater has been having a picky phase for the past week or so. He's spitting out some of his (previously) favorite foods like scrambled eggs, bananas and berries. All he wants to eat is carbs! At least he is open to whole wheat varieties of pasta and bread. I am trying to sneak in some other foods when I can but he is really craving the carbs. A true Italian, I guess.

@QueensBee: He's definitely chill! Although I've noticed that since we haven't been giving him his pacifier at night, he HAS been using me as one more in the morning! Normally he eats in under 10 minutes and then goes back to bed, but the past couple mornings, he's been nursing for 20 minutes and half the time he's definitely just comfort nursing!! I guess he misses having something to suck on?

@QueensBee: R hasn't wanted to eat this weekend, except cheese and pasta. So frustrating and a waste of food. She loves pasta but doesn't like bread. Seriously, not my child.
The IG video should be easy to find, just look for her in her MC Hammer pants. I don't know why but every one piece from BG makes her look like MC Hammer but the ones from Carter's doesn't.

I forgot to say that we gave R some whole milk with lunch and dinner yesterday. She spit it out at first but then drank some. She maybe drank an oz with both meals. She just doesn't drink a lot at all. I hope it increases when she stops with bottles.
I think I am going to cut her afternoon bottle. She is only drinking like 2 ozs in each bottle after her nap anyway. Start with the afternoon and have day care give a snack instead. Then cut the morning.....

We are still away and replying on my phone is kind of hard.
We are having as much fun as we can. I got a cold the day after we got here and Isaac got it the following day. Today he was feeling a bit better. He has been a very clingy mama's boy. He won't let anyone hold him and cries if I go into another room. Sleep has been terrible.
Two nights ago he started rolling in his sleep as well as sitting. He has never done this before.
Between the colds and rolling neither of us are getting much sleep. And I can't sneak away for a nap since he screams.
I feel bad for my mom as she hasn't got to do much with him.
I'm looking forward to being home with DH for the night help.

@Smurfette: Glad to hear that R actually drank SOME milk! I gave Xander his sippy of hemp milk before dinner last night and he went to drink some but he apparently thought it was water because the look on his face after he drank some was one of pure disgust! LOL! And I can only get him to take the tiniest sips during meals! UGH! I'm just hoping once we wean, he'll start drinking more! And let us know how cutting out the bottle works! I'm nervous to start cutting bottles!!
@ALV91711: Yikes! Sorry to hear you guys have been sick!!! Hopefully everyone starts feeling better and you all can get some sleep soon!

@Smurfette: I found it last night. Love those hammer pants!
@ALV91711: Awe, I know you were really looking forward to this trip. Sorry to hear that you both have been sick. Pete is home sick with a fever today too. These winters are just so hard to stay healthy.

@QueensBee: J had been on eating solids strike the past few weeks and only this week he is eating somewhat again. I would have given him anything he wanted just to get him to eat!!
@Smurfette: Yay for milk!! How are you giving it in bottle or sippy cup? J did well on cow's milk on our trip last month but I stopped since then as I got worried with him not getting nutrients when he went on food strike.
Im jealous all the babies here are on table food!! J is still on stage 2 puree. He wants to eat table food but then he gags and throws up
I am so worried ladies about his weight gain this past month. He had been doing so well and now I look at him like he no longer looks chubby!! I am not looking forward to the 12 month checkup Im hoping he atleast stays the same weight and not lost any.
@ALV91711: Aww sorry to hear you guys are sick. Hope you feel better soon!!
@QueensBee: Hope Pete feels better soon!!

@ALV91711: Sorry the trip isn't what you wanted it to be. I hope you feel better soon!!
@silver1: Her straw cup, she won't use a sippy. I am J hasn't lost weight. Has he gotten taller? I think they don't gain as much now cause they are so mobile.
I was home with R today. Day care closed cause of weather. It was just raining and cold but nothing froze. She took great naps and was still exhausted tonight. I hope she isn't getting sick. DH got an early flight and is on his way home. We are supposed to get freezing rain/ice/snow for the next couple days. Supposed to be big power outages as well. I am nervous! Glad DH is going to be home.

@silver1: Don't worry - Xander's the same way! Stage 2 purees all the way! Whenever I try to give him the chunkier stuff, he just gags it back up and then refuses to take another bite. And he TRIES to eat puffs, but just spits them back out or gags if they get further into his mouth. So J is NOT the only one with food issues! Also, maybe he doesn't seem as chubby because he's gotten taller! I've heard that it's common for babies (and toddlers) to chub up before a growth spurt, so maybe that's what has occurred!
@Smurfette: I've been hearing about all the bad weather in your area! So crazy!!!! Are you staying home with R today too?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Oh yeah! We aren't leaving the house today and probably tomorrow. There is a good layer of ice already and it going to ice/snow all day.
R slept 12 hours!!!!! Now I just need to work on me getting sleep.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Well, enjoy the time off! Hope you don't lose power or anything!!! And YAY sleep!!!!! I can't remember the last time Xander did a 12 hour stretch!

@Adira: first time she has done it in awhile. I was shocked when I saw the clock.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Hopefully it becomes an everyday occurrence! And that reminds me - was she still waking up around 5:00 (or earlier) for you? Or has that period passed and she was back to sleep in later like normal?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She seems to be over the 5 am stage. Yesterday it was 545 but that was the earliest in awhile. Usually she sleeps till 6-630. All depends if she had good naps or not.

Oh, minor update with us: I took home Xander's pacifiers from daycare just to ensure he didn't get them there (which they assured me, he wasn't)! Night 4 with no pacifier went off without a hitch. Once it's been a week, I'm declaring us officially pacifier free!!! (Really hoping I didn't just jinx myself there...)
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: woo hoo!! Proud that you did it now. It bugs me seeing 3 yr old walking around with a pacifier.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes, me too!!! I totally get why people use pacifiers and I'm very thankful for ours, but I definitely didn't want Xander to get too old before we took it away, especially because they become more and more attached to them the older they get (one of my friends is struggling to take it away from her daughter now at age 2). But I'm also very lucky that Xander's so easy-going and never really needed it that much and pretty much only used it for sleeping and SOMETIMES in the car, but even that was rare.

@Smurfette: Maybe he has become taller I have to measure him. Ya he has become more mobile recently. Hope you are staying cozy and warm!!
@Adira: Thanks for the support!! glad Im not the only one. I guess they just go by their own pace I am just so impatient. Yay for getting rid of paci and things going smoothly!! J never took to paci so that is one less thing to worry about. He doesn't even have a lovey. I guess he is not very particular and chill one as well.
Now that J is mobile he wants to explore and is turning into a little daredevil. I just discovered I can make J laugh by turning him upside down he loves it!! Im seeing lots of disney rides in our future
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@silver1: Yep, you're definitely not the only one! I'm impatient too to get Xander on table food! But I just keep trying to remind myself that he'll EVENTUALLY eat it, even if it takes a while!
And YES to upside down!!! Xander LOVES that!!!! Yesterday, Hubs held him upside down and blew raspberries into his stomach and Xander thought that was soooooooo hysterical!!! Also: baby laughs are the best!!!

@silver1: We never lost power, thankfully! Now we are just waiting for it to warm up today so we can get back to work/day care tomorrow.

@Adira: Yay for Xander on the booting the pacis! That's great!
@Smurfette: I've been thinking about giving them some WCM in their sippies to try with dinner so they'll start getting used to it. Our ped told us the amount of milk that they will drink when they switch to WCM in a cup will probably drop significantly, which kind of stresses me out but I guess it's normal. Right now, they have 24-28 oz. plus 3 meals a day and snack, and he said when we switch, he'd like them to be drinking at least 15 oz. a day. That doesn't seem like much. But on the other hand the idea of trying to get them to drink that much out of their cups is intimidating since they only sip here and there, so I guess that's good.

And we made it home. Traveling yesterday with a sick baby was a little tougher than normal, but he did fairly well. He was so happy to play with all his own toys. In about half an hour he had everything out. We had lots of fun and I can't wait to go back at the beginning of summer when my sisters baby is a couple months old.
@Smurfette: I'm glad you never lost power. Did your DH make it home? Enjoy the snow day.
@Adira: Yay for such easy paci weaning! That is awesome. Smart idea to take them away from daycare so they can't sneak them to him.
@QueensBee: Is he getting back into eating and being less picky? I hope so.
@silver1: I'm sure he will get to table food soon enough. Isaac does both. He will eat a bit of food but then it is like he doesn't want to take the time and will eat purees to fill up.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: R is doing great with milk. Yesterday she drank 3ozs between all meals so she will need to increase it but she also has been drinking 4 6ozs bottles the last couple days. Thanks for the 15 ozs note. I figured the pedi would tell us at her 1yr appointment but at least now I know what it should be.
@ALV91711: Glad you made it home! Are y'all feeling better? DH did make it home, thankfully. He brought a stomach bug with him and 36 hours later is still stick. But now able to keep water down. I just hope R and I don't get it.

@Smurfette: I hope you and R don't catch it! We are getting better but still sick.
I forgot to say, Isaac has been saying mama and mom. He says mom more often and I find it so funny.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
So yesterday I gave R 2 french toast sticks (one piece of bread is 4 sticks) with a drop of syrup on them. She didn't have any interest unless I fed them to her. This morning, I gave the same breakfast, 2 sticks, half banana, and one turkey sausage patty. I gave her the plate and in the time that it took me to get my breakfast ready (maybe 2 mins) and sit down at the table, she ate ALL the french toast. I guess she liked it!
And she drank her milk from a regular sippy cup at lunch. Woo hoo!! Milk in a straw cup is a pain in the butt.

@ALV91711: Welcome home! Glad to made it back safe and sound in this crazy winter weather.
Pete is still acting a bit picky with his food. He now prefers if I give him an enormous chunk of food so he can be in charge of eating it. For example, if I give him a strawberry cut up into small pieces, he will spit it out. If I give him a whole strawberry, he will happily bite into it and enjoy every bit of it! He's learning to take smaller bites but I still get so nervous about him choking, especially as he gets to the end of the strawberry. Same is true for bananas, toast, broccoli... anything! He definitely wants it *his* way.
@Smurfette: Glad you survived the storm with power! Hope DH is feeling better soon. Sounds like R is caught on to the deliciousness of homemade french toast!
Well, I can't officially say that Pete is "walking" yet but he has certainly taken his first steps this week! He's started taking about 4 steps at a time before he topples overs. I think he will be walking pretty soon!
He's also started babbling a lot more which makes me sooooo happy. He still isn't close to saying real words and is limited with his consonants but at least he is trying. Also, when we saw his cousin last week, they were both at exactly the same level regarding speech so that reassured me that he's still in the normal range of language development.
And finally, Pete is giving proper kisses now. If I say, "Peter, can you give mama a kiss?" and point to my cheek, he crawls over and gives me a slobbery open mouth kiss. No teeth! (He used to try to kiss but would end up biting) It's so much more pleasant now that he knows how to do it without teeth!
We are enjoying an unexpected snow day home together today. It's been nice to catch up on household chores and also spend the day with little man. Such a treat!

@silver1: I've heard it's totally normal for babies to lose their chub around this age too! I know that Pete has been a much pickier eater for the past two weeks and there have been a few days when he has zero interest in solids. They will all come around eventually (after years of picky childhood eating, I'm sure!) !
@ALV91711: Awwe I love that he is saying "mom"! How funny!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: hahaha, yay french toast! And that's awesome she drank from a sippy cup! I have decided to maybe give up on the hemp milk for now and switch over once I made the transition away from bottles. I've put BM in Xander's Zoli for dinner a couple times and he tends to drink more of it (he just drank a whole ounce after he finished his lunch today). So I think I might do a transition from bottles to sippy/straw cup and then once he's done bottles, transition to hemp milk.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: It wasn't homemade, frozen! I am to lazy to cook French toast just for her.
Exciting he is taking more steps. It was a month from her first step to walking. She is about 65/35 walk/crawl.
So cute about the kisses!!!
@Adira: that is a good plan. I hope R will give up her bottles easily. Time will tell!

Hi all! So fun that so many of your babies are walking now!
J's newest development is that he started clapping at the 11 month mark, and he loves it so much. He's always clapping now haha!
He's turning one next Saturday, which is also his 1st birthday party. Sniff sniff... growing so fast! I'm getting sad thinking about it because he might just be my last baby! This year went by too fast..

@Adira: whoa, how did you compile all the bdays? did you dig through the old board? thanks for doing that!!
@Smurfette: i feel like i've been waiting forever for him to do it, and now he's clapping and high fiving all over the place. i was never able to get either of my kids to get the hang of a sippy... i feel like learning to tip it back is more complicated than sipping out of a straw!
my sister is due in 2 days too - i'll be expecting a nephew any day now, and my kids will have their very first cousin!

@QueensBee: Yay for first steps! That is exciting. Isaac is the exact opposite of Peter for eating. He used to take bites from larger items and now he will only eat food if it is cut to bite size. It is like he doesn't have the time to take the bites.
@Adira: Sounds like a good plan for transitioning. I wish Isaac would get drinking out of a straw cup.
@Mrs. High Heels: I can't believe how close he is to 1! I hope the party is lots of fun. Clapping is so much fun.
