    @Adira: L is 3/14
Well we've been MIA because work has been super busy and I have no time at home what with chasing this guy around. Today he fell face first on the concrete patio and was bleeding so bad from his mouth- I was terrified but he did eventually calm down. He's a little scraped up but no missing teeth, thank god. He's walking more but still prefers crawling. He has two new teeth cutting for a total of 7. And he is communicating lots more. He waves, claps, signs more and milk, shakes his head no., can follow directions like walk, come here, where is your ear, throw the ball etc. so everything is going well! Getting ready for the big birthday!!

@QueensBee: Maybe the attention is also why Xander likes crawling up the stairs! I didn't think of that, but that's probably one of the reasons!

@ALV91711: That's awesome that you'll still have one day a month off to hang out with him! I actually have every other Fridays off, but lately I've been sending Xander to daycare so I can get stuff done around the house!

@silver1: I tried chunky applesauce last night! He wasn't a fan. He just kept spitting the chunks out and then I'd put them back in his mouth, haha. But he kept being willing to try them, so I think that's a good sign! Hope you have some luck with J at some point too!

@travellingbee: Oh no!!! That sounds so scary!!! Falls are so frightening, especially ones that involve blood! Did you bring him in to the doctor at all? And I'm so impressed that he can follow directions! Especially the "where is your ear" one. I've been trying to teach Xander how to point at things, but he didn't seem to get it.

@travellingbee: I am dreading this day!! I still carry R to the car. I will sometimes let her walk but I always hold her hand cause I don't want her falling on the stone walkway. Especially when DH isn't home. I couldn't handle the blood by myself.
So glad that he is ok!!
What are you doing to encourage signing? I don't think that we do it enough and probably not day care. I want her to get it but she doesn't seem to be.
That is great he is following directions and throwing the ball. R needs to work on these still.
How is sleep going? Nanny? Sickness?
@Adira: Is Xander's party this weekend?

  7. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Nope. I decided that I wanted to celebrate Xander's birthday with him before anyone else, so his birthday is on the 2nd! But @Mrs. High Heels is throwing J's birthday this weekend!!!

@Adira: That is why we are doing her's the weekend after too. DH and I are going to spend the Sat before with her. Going to take her to Catch Air for the first time and let her play.

I still can't believe our babies are turning 1. Last year at this time we were still getting her nursery set up and I was almost to the point of being OVER pregnancy.

    @Smurfette: What is Catch Air??

And yes! Last year this time, I was still setting up the nursery (I was REALLY slow on the nursery business, haha) and having my MIL over to clean the house! And my back hurt ALL THE TIME! Glad I don't have that problem anymore, haha.

@Adira: One of those indoor playhouse facilities. Hopefully she will like it!

@Smurfette: Very cool! I should see about doing something like that for Xander's birthday since I have no other ideas, haha. Maybe I'll take him to one of the classes our local mom group has.

ETA: There's a Music for Little Ones class on his birthday. Maybe I'll take him to that! They sing, dance, and play with a parachute and bubbles.

@Smurfette: Nanny is going well! No more sickness!! Hooray! He has been sleeping through the night for the past week with increasingly later wake times. This morning we had to wake him at 7 to eat before I left. And putting him down is a breeze. I kiss him and lay him down and that's it! He plays for a minute then goes to sleep. Soooooo glad we are finally at this point. Can't wait for naps to get there too. Nanny is working on getting him to nap in the crib regularly which is a big first step!
We haven't really encouraged it much. I haven't even been consistent showing him the signs. He just decided he was ready to communicate, I guess. I'm sad that he learned the sign for milk just as I'm weaning him! Yesterday, a half hour after he nursed, he was sitting on my lap and he popped out his Pacie and did the sign for milk. I said what?, You just ate, and he started laughing and put his pacie back in. Silly boy.
@Adira: I can't believe Xander'll be one already so soon!! I'm still in denial.

@travellingbee: Me too! And that is hysterical about him signing for milk and then laughing! Babies are so silly!!

@silver1: Yes, we are moving to the suburbs north of NYC. We had been using my parents' old Subaru for infrequent car rides this year but it's thirteen years old and has become very unreliable. I love the idea of a new car but not the price tag!

@Adira: Pete's birthday is 3/21. Same as Isaac and the first day of spring!

@Smurfette: I totally wish we could stay at our current daycare but unfortunately it will be way too far out of the way from our new home. It would add about one hour of driving in the morning and another hour in the evening.

A day with Mom and Dad at Catch Air sounds like it will be a perfect birthday treat for R! What a great idea!

@travellingbee: Wow, sounds like he has made so much progress with sleep and well, everything! I'm glad that he was okay after his fall. That sounds so scary. I get super dizzy with a lot of blood and I'm so nervous about how I will react with Pete's first bloody injury. I just hope i don't pass out!

@QueensBee: Sorry about that! I copied an old version of my Birthdays list! I knew you had told me his birthday before!!! Oops! Fixed now!

@Adira: Music class sounds fun! Since he isn't walking, I don't think a Catch Air place would be good. Save it for his reward for walking!
@travellingbee: Yay!! I am so glad that sleeping is good again. And the little guy is finally not sick. Too funny about the milk sign. How is weaning going?
@QueensBee: An hour is way too much for sure. Bummer. I hope you find a place that works.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Thanks! I think I will take him to the music class! I just need to find out if I have to sign up ahead of time. And hope it's not during his nap, haha.

@Smurfette: All my worry about switching to WCM was for not. We gave the boys some in a sippy cup at dinner last night, and Elliot would not eat at all--he just wanted to drink his milk! We decided we're going to have to give him his milk at non-meal times or after he eats his solid food because he wanted nothing to do with anything but his sippy! Finn thought it was fine, but nothing worth giving up his cheesy eggs for.

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: So glad the WCM transition is going well for you! Xander does NOT like hemp milk and I've switched to giving him BM in his sippy with dinner instead because he actually WILL drink that (though not over his food). I'm going to have to transition from bottles to sippies and THEN make the transition SLOWLY to hemp milk I think!

  20. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Adira: Maybe if you just slowly mix more and more hemp milk into the BM over time, he'll slowly get used to it. That's what I was planning to do, but apparently that won't be necessary.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: That's exactly what I'm planning on doing, but I'll do it once he's off bottles completely! I'll probably do an ounce at a time or something until he's fully switched over!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Blue: YAY!! That is great news. R will drink it but lately is loving her bottles. So I am scared it is going to be hard to break. A friend told me the other night that since we use Similac Sensitive, there isn't lactose in it. So that is probably why she has been pooping SO much since we started giving her milk. But it is solid so I think her tummy just has to get use to it.
    @Adira: I would mix them too. 75%BM 25%HM, then 50/50, etc.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I think that's what I'll probably end up doing!

  24. Mrs. High Heels

@Adira: Wow, I'm so impressed - how did you remember that his bday was this weekend?! Good memory! Most everything is done, but I'm still finishing up one of his yarn letters, and I need to bake a few small treats the night before. I went to Party City yesterday to pick up tablecloths and utensils.

I think I'm more stressed thinking about the day of since I have to get to the location early to set up. Good thing J recently dropped his two middle of the day feedings so I don't have to worry about nursing him after he wakes up from his morning nap. He usually takes his first nap of the day from 10-11:30... his party is at noon. We'll probably have to wake J up from his nap a little earlier that day. So what we'll do is I'll get to the park at 11 to do the set up, and DH will stay with the kids and get them to the park when the party starts.

  25. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Mrs. Blue: that was the exact same reaction I got from J when I gave him WCM! he is addicted and slurps it up like it's the best thing ever. Yesterday, he was pounding the table for more and barely touched his food too!...

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: I think I only remembered because you mentioned his party was ON his birthday, so when I reposted the list of birthdays, I remembered his party was coming up too!

How many people are you having at the party since you're having it at an actual location?? I think mine will be easier since it's at our house, so I'm going to try to set up most everything the day before and then just do food the morning of, and I can stop and nurse Xander whenever I need to! Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you! What are you planning on doing for pictures? Did you hire someone or are you having a friend take pictures or are you doing it yourself?

@Smurfette: @Mrs. High Heels: You're one to talk - you have a walking child! Mine is still crawling!

  31. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yes but she is still a baby. Although she looked like a toddler this morning in her shirt, skinny jeans, and shoes. Her teacher was out today so the toddler teacher was covering and R was fitting right in with the toddlers, just a lot shorter

  32. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Adira: @Mrs. High Heels: OMG!!!! I can't believe it's a matter of DAYS. Eep! I'm just going to hang on to every single day of my 3 more weeks.
@Smurfette: That's what I've been thinking about the Baby Dudes. Now that they are toddling around more and more, they just look older.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: See, this is why I continue to dress Xander in sleepers! They still look like such babies in PJs! Though he's almost one so I probably should start putting him in real clothes...

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Blue: How much are they walking?
@Adira: Probably so....He isn't going to know what to do in pants and a top

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: OMG, I tried to put SHOES on him the other day and he FREAKED OUT and started crying!!!!

  36. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: aww! Poor guy! Were they too small/tight? Baby steps, do pants and socks first.

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: They SEEMED like they fit fine! When I first put them on, he was fine, but then he started to crawl and I think that's when they started bothering him - he crawled like two steps and then started crying hysterically and trying to pull them off!

And no worries - I HAVE put him in pants and socks before, so he doesn't have issues with them!

  38. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Smurfette: They usually don't take more than 4 or 5 steps at a time, before sitting or switching to crawling, but they're doing that really frequently. A week ago, Elliot never took more than one or two steps and rarely did so, and Finn only took his first step a week and half ago. Considering how much they've increased in just a week, I think they'll probably be full on toddling everywhere by their birthday. R is pretty much just full on toddling everywhere, right??

  39. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Adira: When we put the boys in shoes at first, they hated them, too, but we switched to some soft-soled Robeez, and they never balked at those. I think it was because they were more flexible and didn't seem as odd to them. Not sure what type you tried, but that's my two cents.

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Haha! R didn't like them on when she was just crawling too. I think they slowed her down.
@Mrs. Blue: She took her first step Jan 3rd and then it was exactly a month later she started taking 7-10 steps at a time. Now she walks 90% of the time at home. Day care said she doesn't crawl at all there. I think she crawls at home cause she is tired!
