@Mrs. Blue: That's probably my problem - the ones I put on him were leather and weren't as flexible as the soft-soled Robeez. I'll have to get some of those instead.

@Smurfette: haha, yeah, Xander looked and acted like he had to DRAG his feet because they were SOOOOOO heavy or something. Crazy kid!

@Adira: Yeah you are going to want the soft soled for when he starts walking anyway. I don't think R could walk yet in anything hard soled. I really like the Smaller by See Kai Run.

@Smurfette: @Mrs. Blue Did you order your shoes on-line or find them in a store or what?

@Smurfette: I've been thinking about getting them some SKR. So, you like the ones you have?
@Adira: We just ordered ours. They have a size chart you could print off, and I used that/guessed. But, I live in a small city (200k), so there's not that many places to buy things either.

@Adira: I get them online. So far I have only bought Smaller by SKR. I just waited till they were on sale. If you sign up for their mailing list, you get an email for $10, so wait to do that till you are going to buy a couple pairs. They have some CUTE boys shoes on sale right now. Those Cody sneakers are too cute! We have a pink pair.

@Mrs. Blue: Love them!! We had two pairs in the 0-6 months and she just moved into the 6-9. and now those are getting tight, I am going to be mad if she doesn't stay in them for a couple more months. I have like 6 pairs now! See my note above about ordering them.

@Smurfette: Thanks!! Maybe I'll see if I can measure Xander's feet because I want to make sure I order the correct size!

@Adira: Let me know if you order any!

@Adira: Just jumping in to say there's some good prices I saw on Amazon on some shoes! I ordered some Robeez and Stride Rite first walkers for under 15 each!!! I just had to search around a little and check the price on different sizes.

@dojo: Thanks for the tip! I'll have to do some price comparisons before I order anything!

@Smurfette: Those SKR shoes are so cute!

PS: I heard that if you go to Nordstrom to buy your LO's first pair of shoes they will make a big production of it and take a picture of their first shoe purchase etc. Sounds so cute - but I don't like paying full price...

@Adira: @Mrs. Blue: @Smurfette: Noooo... my baby J is not walking yet!! He is still in crawling mode! I must cherish every single moment for the next three days. What are some good soft soled brands? I've tried Robeez and liked them... anything else?

Speaking of shoes... I LOVE SKR's. Noelle has a couple pairs and I think they're great. I also like Pedipeds.

As cute as Tiny Tom's are, you need EXACT sizing on those or else they slip on/off too easily. I usually like buying shoes that give them room to grow. N's preschool requested that we not bring her to school in Toms anymore because were always slipping off her feet.

@Adira: We hired a friend to do pics (he's actually my good friend's younger brother), but he's also a professional wedding photographer, and does other types of shoots (family, birthdays, etc). http://www.jeromeparkphotos.com/. We have around 40 guests coming (number includes 10 kids).

Did you guys make or buy your chalkboard stats board yet? I went to IKEA over my lunch break and picked up an Art Easel and I'm going to put the stats on that. I figure it kills two birds with one stone because the kids can use it afterwards.

@dojo: that's so cute that Nordstrom's does that!

@Mrs. High Heels: I made a chalkboard! I still need to work on it though - my mom said it looked nice but I feel like my writing is crooked. I took an Ikea frame (not sure of the size but one of the big but not too big ones) took out the glass, and sprayed chalkboard paint on the board. I'll post a pic when I finish it. I was thinking to put it on an easel too - I have one stored away from my painting days so I thought I'd just use that!

@dojo: Did you draw it in with chalk? Are you going to erase and redo some portions? I'm scared to redo anything because I don't want residue to show. There's one portion of my board where the line isn't exactly parallel to the edge of my board and it annoys me so much... I almost wanted to redo the whole thing, but in the end I just decided it wasn't that bad and most people probably wouldn't even notice.

@Mrs. High Heels: I started writing with chalk and it was making me crazy so I switched to chalk pens (I had some from another project).heres a pic from my first attempt (I have since erased the teeth part and changed part of the foods wording) there is some residue but I thought I'd run a little chalk over and wipe again so it blends I . I'm so tempted to erase and start all over!!!

@dojo: Seriously, I think you need to take on a side job and sell some on Etsy. Yours looks a lot better than what I saw!

@Mrs. High Heels: haha thanks! I don't know when I would ever find time to do anything like that! I wish I could just run an Etsy store it would be so much more creative than my actual job

  21. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: I drew mine with chalk and went over it with check paint/pens and had no problems at all with it.

@Mrs. High Heels: I'm so sad, but I won't have a chalk board with Xander's stats. His 12 month well visit isn't for another week AFTER his party and the last stats I had of him were from 9 months, so it just didn't seem worth it to do it. But now I wish I had squeezed in an appointment (or just tried to measure him myself) so that I could've done it. Oh well.

@dojo: HOLY SMOKES! Your chalkboard looks AMAZING! You did that yourself????? I'm so impressed!!!!!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@dojo: That looks so good!!! My friend designed one for us so all I have to so is print it. She has it done and I just have to text her after her doctors appointment with her stats.

@Mrs. Blue: Pete is at the exact same stage as Baby Dudes with walking. He can take 5-6 steps at a time now before he topples over. He only took his first steps one week ago. I can't believe how quickly it happens and I think they will all be full on "toddling" around very soon!

@Adira: No worries! Thanks for keeping track of all the birthdays on that list!
Haha I forgot Xander loves his sleepers. I agree that babies look so little and snuggly in pjs. So cute! Like @Mrs.Blue, we also started off with suede soled Robeez and they are a hit. I tried some rubber soled shoes first and he hated them.

@dojo: Holy moly that is seriously amazing! I think it looks perfect! Your handwriting is incredible! I am thoroughly impressed!

@Mrs. High Heels: Awwwe, they'll be babies forever to me. I plan to order a sign off etsy for $12.50 and then print it at cvs or staples on foam board. This is the seller that I'm considering right now:

@Smurfette: Thanks for the tip about SKR! I just checked out their website and the shoes are so cute!!

@QueensBee: I can't wait to order some regular/hard soled ones for R. My wallet is going to hate me!

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Adira: our doc appt isn't til after the party either, so I just did the stand on scale with baby method! To measure, we have a wall height chart and I just stood him against it. I figure it's close enough!

@Adira: I've never put Isaac in real shoes, even though people have gifted us some. We just have a couple of pairs of robeez. I plan on getting a couple more pairs soon for him to wear to daycare. I'm not having a chalkboard either.

@dojo: Your chalkboard looks awesome! I can't believe you did that yourself.

@Mrs. Blue: They will be your babies no matter how old they get.

@QueensBee: I like the looks of that board.

@Smurfette: Those shoes are so cute, too bad they charge so much to ship to Canada.

@Mrs. High Heels: I hope that you have a great party this weekend. I can't believe he will be 1 already!

Last night was an epic fail. Isaac woke up at 10:30, went and laid him back down from sitting and he was right back asleep. Then at 12:30 he woke up and I nursed him. He woke up again at 3:30 and I wanted to let him CIO with checks. An hour later and he wouldn't let me lay him down and was just reaching up, so I tried rocking and nursing and I could not get him back to sleep. Then about 5:30 he wanted to nurse again and fell asleep for about 15 min. He had one 2 hour nap late this morning and that was it. Now I'm not sure what I'll do tonight.

OMG, Xander has been crying since 4:00 (it's 4:30 now)!!! Please tell me it's teeth! I got him to stop crying for all of 5 minutes, but as soon as I put him back in his crib, he started back up again. I gave him some Tylenol, but now I don't know to do. And I have to start getting ready for work at 5:00. I'm so tired... Someone please tell him to go back to sleep...

  30. Adira

Crap! He's finally stopped crying and fallen back asleep and I still need to nurse him! Now I'm afraid to wake him up...

@ALV91711: OMG, your night makes me realize how good I've had it! I can't imagine how hard it must be to get up every few hours with your little one! At least I was able to get 5 hours of sleep before Xander woke me up! Soooooo hoping tonight goes better for you!!!!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: I hope last night was better!
@Adira: R woke up 4 times last night crying in her sleep. Then woke up at 5 and wouldn't go back to sleep. She is cranky pants!! I have a feeling she will fall asleep on the way to day care.
I would just let him sleep and leave DH a bottle.
I think R is working on her molars. So over teeth!!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, molars! I'm glad we're not there yet! Though all teeth suck! I actually thought about leaving Hubs with a bottle, but the last time I did an early morning pumping session instead of nursing, it took me an HOUR to empty the boobs! So I sucked it up and nursed him! Luckily, I think he BARELY woke up for it! He nursed for longer than normal too, but he went back into his crib after without a peep, so it was a success!

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: oh good! An hour, that is nuts!

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: It's because my boobs are SLOW to empty - they suck. Which is why I normally pump for 30 minutes just to empty them, and that's after only 3-4 hours. When I go 8 hours, it takes FOREVER!!!!!!

  36. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Yikes, that is an early start to the day. I'm glad he went back to sleep and you were able to feed him. I would have been so scared of him waking back up and staying up.

@Smurfette: Molars, yikes! That is a little early for a start to the day.

Last night sucked. I couldn't get to sleep and Isaac woke up 4 times and then was up for the day a few minutes after 5. Yuck!

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Ugh, your night sounds terrible!!! You must be so exhausted!!! I really hope tonight goes better for you!!

  38. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Thanks. I'm pooped. Luckily I can nap when Isaac does and I do pretty much every day.

DH and I are going to have to come up with a plan today and do something over the next few nights. Usually it isn't too bad as DH gets home mid afternoon but next week he starts a new job and will be out of the house from 6:30am-5:30pm with his commute. That will be a long tiring day alone if we aren't sleeping, plus Isaac just looks so tired from waking up so much.

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: I hope he takes some good long naps for you then so you can get some rest!

I hope you guys can come up with a plan and it WORKS so that you all can get a good night's rest soon!!!

@ALV91711: Oh no!! Coming up with a plan sounds good. I hope you find something that works so he starts sleeping better at night. Hugs!
